does what its supposed to.
the fit is snug but i believe it is due to the hard plastic earpiece tips that do not give at all. Having those tips dig into the side of my head really limits the time I can comfortably wear them and prevents me from using them with my motorcycle helmet on. If there was anything i would want them to change on this product that would be it.

Make a homemade ski video!

I pulled them out, pushed a button, and a green light came on - looked good to me. I wore them for a few minutes, and then turned them off. Once I plugged the cable into my Mac, I found the video I'd recorded, and it played as a QuickTime movie with clear sound. I use the goggles for video recording the view while skiing in the mountains.

Here is how I'd rate it on various features:

Video Quality: Very good, especially considering the size limitation with the camera.

Sound Quality: Good. I did not expect a Dolby surround sound quality of recording capability. While being outdoor my focus is more on capturing the video with the natural sounds in the background.

Lighting: This product is designed and made for outdoors especially for those with active lifestyle. If you plan to use it inside or in low lighting conditions, do not plan to use this video recorder. When indoors or in low lighting conditions, the video is not clear and a bit too dark.

Video Format & Resolution: It records in .3GP format which can be played in QuickTIme. It can be converted to mpeg also for those who want to use them in Windows Movie Maker, video editing etc. The resolution is sufficient for playing on a Mac or PC. It is not made for playing on a big screen HDTV. (Otherwise the resolution needs to be a lot better)

Ease of Use: Very easy... it will take under 5 mins to start recording and uploading videos on your computer and websites.

Glasses quality: Good enough.

Sturdiness: No rough handling obviously, as it has hardware embedded inside. Otherwise, normal care should be fine. I keep them in the case included in the box.

Charging/Connectivity: Comes with a wall adapter and USB Cable. MicroSD cards for extended storage are easily available.

Price: At the current price of $100 on Amazon, this is a steal! I paid much more when I got them.

Overall, an excellent product for people with an active lifestyle. It could also be used for travel, sightseeing, etc to record when you don't want to carry a camcorder.

Acceptable

Generates usable video quality. The on/off indicator lights are difficult to impossible to see in the bright sun. Glasses come with preprogrammed date for video, and have not been able to find a way to change the date. This limits the glasses for forensic use.

The device is recommended but one must learn to live with its limitations.

Bulky but works good

The pinhole camera between the eyes picks up great quality (for the purpose and price) There are others out there with HD quality but your going to pay for it. This is great for Youtube videos and taping people who dont realize you have on camera glasses. Its also good for incriminating evidence.

My main complaint is that the sunglasses fit really tight and become uncomfortable after a while. I will admit to having maybe a larger head though. For motorcycle helmets, I have an XL. I tried to stretch them over something larger and see if the plastic would mend to that size but it didnt work. I did think of taking a flame to it but did not want to ruin them either.

Overall, still fun for me and for short periods of time. Lots of compliments and the videos are watchable without motion sickness pills.

So much fun!

These video recording sunglasses are FUN!

Incredibly easy to use, impressively sturdy, and come with a very nice hard case. It's possible to record for up to five hours.

No, the video quality isn't all that great, but video quality isn't what makes these so cool. If you want great cinematography you'd use something else, wouldn't you?

Lorexvue video recording sunglasses review

I am enjoying my video recording glasses. Tried them out on a roller coaster at Universal Studios and they were fantastic.

Easy to use, stores lots of video, but not great video quality

From a "toy" perspective, these video glasses offer a fun way to capture video in a very "stealthy" way. Because of the "pinhole" type lens, the video quality is not great, however. When compared to something like the GoPro Hero camera, which in the non-HD version runs just slightly more expensive than this unit, but provides vastly superior video quality along with a waterproof housing.

Want to feel like a SPY?

These are hilarious, fantastic, and fun, while at the same time actually being a nice pair of sunglasses LOL! There isn't a whole lot to say about them -- they shoot video which is then incredibly easy to put on a computer -- except that you will feel like a Superspy, even if you're just driving (TRY IT!) or watching the kids splash around in the pool.

There are a million sneaky things you can do with these:

1. Video your next argument, then use the footage to show your (parent/sibling/spouse/offspring) that they really did say what they now deny saying.

2. Use it while you drive -- it's an almost out-of-body experience watching the video later.

3. Leave them on a shelf and video the babysitter -- s/he'll never know they are what they are!

These are incredibly fun and useful. Highly recommended.

Terrific Fun!

These Lorex Video Recording Sunglasses are a blast! Right out of the box they are super easy to use.

I pulled them out, pushed a button, and a green light came on - looked good to me. I wore them for a few minutes, and then turned them off. Once I plugged the cable into my Mac, I found the video I'd recorded, and it played as a QuickTime movie with clear sound.

This would be perfect for outdoor parties, or brightly lit indoor parties. I can think of all sorts of funny applications - airport travel, trips to Wal-Mart, oh my goodness, how many times have you wished you'd caught something for a YouTube video or your blog? You won't be capturing anything Oscar-worthy with these sunglasses, but I bet you'll capture plenty of good footage with 5 hours of record time.

 Wish I had these sooner

These are great for capturing unexpected video. I've been wanting to buy these for some time now to capture our local police dept. going through stop signs and red lights with their police lights on, only to find them a couple of blocks away at the local donut shop. I've seen it happen so many times, and always said that I wish I had a video of this so I can expose them. Well now I can get one. Of course I haven't seen it happen yet, but I know I will soon LOL.

These sunglasses are pretty good quality, they are a little tight fit, but not to the point of being uncomfortable. Using them outside or while driving is great, the video quality is crystal clear, and the fact that it videos for 5 hours in wonderful. The only thing that I noticed, is the audio isn't very good, but it's not the audio that I really care about. Now I used these to video my grandson indoors, and the video came out very dark. I know these are made for outdoor use, so don't expect great videos if you are recording inside. Which makes total sense, because they are sunglasses.

I keep these in my car, and only take them inside when I need to recharge them or transfer videos to my computer. It would be nice if they had a car charger for them. I wish I had these the day I was stuck in a traffic jam, because of road work, and while waiting in the long traffic line, I glanced over to the police car and saw the police officer working on his laptop. As we got closer, we noticed that he was on Facebook instead of directing traffic, like he was supposed to be doing. So yeah...I wish I got these sooner LOL!

Interesting Gadget

I see this device as having two purposes. The first purpose is to surreptitiously record someone or something. Yep, they're spyglasses in a sense. Once you turn these things on it will appear to most people that you are simply wearing sunglasses. In other words, Slick, there are no lights or anything else that would alert someone to the fact that he/she is being taped, both in audio and video.

The second purpose is the ability to video (and audio) record something hands-free. For example, if you're skiing, driving a car or motorcycle, or playing sports you can wear things and not have to worry about carrying around a camera.

For the most part, the gadget works well. It's easy to use--there are only two buttons--and it's easy to plug it into the PC and fairly quickly see the Quicktime movie.

There are a few things, however, that you may want to consider before purchasing this unit. My first reaction when I pulled it out of the box was uh-oh. The sunglasses feel cheap. I've been known to drop my MP3 player about every 10th time I play it, so I don't know how long these things will last. Maybe they're sturdier than they feel, but, honestly, they don't feel like they're high quality.

There's also not a low battery indicator. That'd be nice to have.

Don't even think about using them inside unless you have an additional lighting source. These are primarily for outdoor use.

For me, the most troubling aspect about these glasses is the record button. It might just be my unit, but I had to check each and every time to make sure that when I pushed it it was actually recording. It's kind of hinky. Sometimes I'd have to push it several times. The same thing is true when I try to stop the recording. If I were to use them as spyglasses, this would sure put a cramp in my style.

Overall, they're fun. I've enjoyed them and will continue to play with them.

Not a longterm investment

I love that this lets me record at a moment's notice. The record/stop buttons are located on the left side, and the microSD and USB ports are on the right side. Very convenient access.

I just don't know how long this would last since it's meant for outdoor use. The plastic frame is really lightweight, so I doubt any longterm durability. Think dollar store sunglasses. I don't mind that this doesn't take really clear video in low light settings...these are sunglasses after all. But they do take good YouTube quality videos outdoors.

I can't wear this for an extended period of time because it eventually gets really uncomfortable. This is definitely a snug fit for me. My head is 22 inches in diameter in case you were wondering. :)

In terms of included accessories, it does come with a carrying case + cloth and charger. The 2GB of built in memory has been sufficient for me so far, but I'm going to have to buy a microSD card since I have a bad habit of not transferring files. It's great for recording without people realizing you're recording, but for the current asking price, I would've expected something MUCH sturdier.

Excellent for outdoors..easy to use

This is an excellent product and works very well. A lot of the times, I strongly feel the need of a product which can record what I am seeing. It is mostly during outdoor activities where carrying a camcorder all the time is not practically feasible. Here is how I'd rate it on various features:

Video Quality: Very good especially considering the size limitation with the camera. Check my video screen-shots in the customer images and the trial video on youtube (search using "LOREXvue video recording sunglasses" and you will see a 44 sec test video...Amazon doesn't let me post the direct link here).

Sound Quality: Very decent. I am not expecting a surround sound or Dolby level of recording capability. While being outdoor my focus is more on capturing the video with the natural sounds in the background.

Lighting Issue: This product is designed and made for outdoors especially for those with active lifestyle. If you plan to use it inside or under low lighting conditions, check camcorders instead.

Video Format & Resolution: It records in .3GP format which can be played in QuickTIme. It can be converted to mpeg also for those who want to use them in Windows Movie Maker, video editing etc. The resolution is sufficient for playing on [...] and PC etc. It is not made for playing on 46" HDTV. (Otherwise the file size will be too large to handle uploads and the camera needs to be a lot better)

Ease of Use: Super easy...it will take barely 5 mins to start recording and uploading videos on your PC/websites.

Glasses quality: Good enough so far. Haven't tried them in very bright sun yet..but looks reasonable so far.

Sturdiness: No rough handling obviously, as it has hardware embedded inside. Otherwise, normal care should be fine. Always keep them in the case included in the box.

Charging/Connectivity: Comes with a wall adapter and USB Cable. MicroSD cards for extended storage are easily available.

Price: This is the only reason for giving it a rating of 4 instead of 5. At $180 it is a bit pricey. Considering the cost of associated hardware and comparing it to a $200 digicam, I feel it is a bit expensive.

Overall, an excellent product for people with active lifestyle. I am also planning to use it in travel, especially when I go to new countries, places etc. and record the normal life out there without carrying a big camcorder (and thus avoiding the camera consciousness).

Fun, with good light

I bought these for when girls act psycho in front of me and need proof of it later.

They don't work too well for that. Low light (indoors at night) performance is poor, as is audio if there's any background noise.

Outdoors, or daytime indoors with lots of windows, the video is decent, youtube quality. You can have fun with these glasses, especially while doing outdoor activities like skiing, shooting, riding rollercoasters, etc.
