The greatest thing since Al Gore's invention of the internet

This thing rocks. I wanted to get an all in one system and this is a no hassle no brainer system. The cctv cameras are sharp and the night range is pretty good. Customer support was very helpful even though I didn't really need it that much. I wish they could make a system like this a little cheaper though but I'm happy to get this than have to piece together something that might work the first time. Another nice feature is that this has audio.

Oh about the other reviewer they didn't even purchase this model and they are rating all lorex's with a one star.

MAN ARRESTED WITH THE HELP OF THIS UNIT

I wired 4 cameras in the front of my house. Within 1 eek it recorded 3 men trying to enter my home. I yelled "you're being recorded" and they ran. The DVR itself works great. The color picture from the cameras are fantastic and vivid. Night vision is fine, but better if you have a motion light outside. You can't go wrong if you want protection.

Rec'd system on schedule and installation went without a hitch. Was up and running with good
quality picture. Was able to connect to windows and establish ddns connection for remote viewing
very smoothly. The only down side is one camera has a weak connection but with a bit of
tweaking am able to maintain two to three bars. I may need to add a signal booster on that side
of the house. Overall, I am very happy with the system and would recommend it to a friend.
Night vision is also about what I expected.

Ordered the product and received it on time. Hanging the cameras and hooking up the DVR/ monitor were simple. I had an IT hiccup while trying to get my port forwarding set up. I called customer support and they were very supportive and had my problem fixed within about 15 minutes. Everything is up and running and working great. I would recommend their products for security measures at a reasonable price.

My son and husband installed the system in about 2 hours. The most difficult part was selecting areas to install the cameras due to trees in the way, having to extend wiring to plugs for the cameras. Yes, this is a wireless system, but, each individual camera must have a power supply (electrical plug) in order to operate. The pictures from the cameras, in color, during the day are really clear. When it gets dark outside and they change to infrared (black and white pictures) the clarity diminishes greatly. We ordered 2 extra cameras and at this time have 5 installed so that may a part of the problem. It is recommended that you only use 4. All in all, we are very satisfied with our system. Of course, it would be nice to be able to afford a pricier one with all the bells and whistles but this will serve our purpose. This was an open box item but there were no problems and all components including the manual were included except the extra cameras we purchased. If you are contemplating buying this system, I say go for it as you can always return it if you are not satisfied. THANKS, Lorex, for a quality system at an affordable price!!!!

Full featured system suitable for home or small business. All features work as advertized. Camera quality is well below what you get from an inexpensive camcorder; poor color and contrast; limited use at night. Wired alarm in/out terminals are very fragile making the system unreliable if placed where it may get moved. Monitor quality is excellent when used as a computer monitor. Set up is easily done as do-it-yourself, except for networking features which will require some computer knowledge. Installation instructions are accurate though somewhat abbreviated. Quickstart guide is excellent. Free DNS server and e-mail forwarding included. Remote viewing over internet is fast and full featured. System is complete, nothing else to buy.

For a totally different view of these products, let me tell you about our experience (this co-written by my computer consultant who has installed a bunch of these systems at various small businesses and has 40 years of experience with computers and technology of all types; has a Masters in Electrical Engineering and owns a Lorex system at his shop). First of all, my tech guy installed 2 L20WD's (smaller brother of the L23) three years ago. We run them 24x7x365. They have both been upgraded to larger disk drives (highly recommended and easy). We run 16 cameras, 8 in and 8 outside. All has worked great with no problems. Neither rain, snow or ice has phased those outside cams at all and we have one on a tree 250 feet from the main building. We offload (archive) both systems to an FTP server in-house. That is a nice feature (and who cares that the CODEC used to play the files is old; it works fine). The wireless camera quality is pretty good considering the price. I mean you aren't paying for a $10,000 system here. We did upgrade 2 of the cams to expensive SONY wide-angles for specific needs. One of the SONY cams died(almost $400 for it!), but none of the Lorex cams has; all OK. In over three years of use, no problems except for one minor issue. Our archives to the FTP are very sensitive to network traffic. If both systems are trying to archive at the same time, one often fails. We stagger them to avoid this (start one at 5PM, the other at 9PM to get 7-5PM footage). There have been zero hardware failures in either system in the three years we have had the units. We have had no problems with the power bricks getting hot. My tech loves the remote viewing software which he can use from any of the PCs in the building. You can set up any PC in the LAN to be a viewing station for the units. You can monitor 1, 4 or all 8 cameras live in a window on a PC (put it up in a corner on a large monitor and do all your other work as normal). Remote viewing is possible. We are on Amazon now to buy a third system for this site and we couldn't believe the negative review that was written. I mean, for the price, these units are a bargain. We love them. My tech recommends hooking them up to battery backup/surge units which we have here. He also has talked to their tech support many times and, although maybe not rocket scientists, they always got any questions answered. Look, you are getting a complete 4 wireless camera system with a good quality screen and a DVR for under two grand! Like we said, maybe not the $20,000 system you could buy, but do you really need that? For a small business or home, these are fine. If you were only looking at value for the dollar, I would give these systems 5 stars. Hardware quality is probably average at 3 stars, as is the software. The user interface is pretty good in our opinion and very easy to use. We thought the manuals could have been more detailed, but sufficient to get us running. As they say, your experience may vary... We're happy.

I purchased an open box item on March 15th, 2013 at the Lorex website, and we did not received the item until 2 weeks later.....Installation is easy, but the.recording images are blurry and staticky...since April15th, we have been calling everyday...waiting for 30+ mins then left a message to return our call....the technician returned all our calls at 6:45pm after our business is closed. Last Friday, we complained about the long wait to customer service (Arlene), she would like us to send her an e-mail regarding the issue, but her e-mail does not accept reply. Today is the 6th try calling them..It has been 1 hour 9 mins.with tape recording saying the next representative will be available shortly.....
