Orders was delivered in timely fashion. Camera resolution is amazing.installation was very easy
( I have done it by myself ).
Excellent customer service and online connectivity is added bonus for monitoring off site.
Have some issues with e- mail alerts but it is just matter of time to solve that problem.

Well where do I start...I'm gonna be honest!

The first DVR thing-a-ma-jig had to be sent back, cameras kept freezing. No issues with getting new one or sending the first one back.

All tech support people were helpful and pleasant. I had to call tech support several time and not until one person found the problem did I get my system up and running. I was going through my Mac. I believe there was a compatibility issue and had to buy a monitor. I bought a monitor at an area store an once I hooked it up it was like a whole new world opened up.

Put my shoes on it was very frustrating to have issues wrong and having to keep calling to find and or come up with the problem and a resolution. As I said it's up and running like a champ. I recommend when buying this unit to buy a monitor and run it that way...NOT through a Mac.

Cameras are sharp as heck. For a computer dumb person the Lorex program is very easy to use. Would I recommend someone to buy this unit? Yes. At this point filling this form out I now have a 2 year warranty. :)

Ordered the LNR200 Security Camera w/NVR. All the Cameras worked but the HDMI out on the NVR was bad. So I tried to contact tech support. I was on hold for 45min then it sad transferring now, I heard a phone ringing and was waiting for a tech to pick up 20 min later, Nothing!!! so I hung up. So over an hour and No Tech Support. So I called Costco.com they said we have a backdoor # for Lorex Tech Support they did answer in 3min and Costco was on the phone to here the conversation. Almost forgot my friend got a system at Home Depot he installed if it said 720P Well the crooks came back to the front door the camera was 6 feet away. You couldn't make out the persons face. Same thing with the camera over the driveway it was so blurry you could not read the word California that was in large print, but we guessed what it said. So the jury is still out on there systems.

Out-of-the-box setup was easy. Cameras are functioning as advertised, although it takes 5-10 seconds for them to switch between IR/night and color/day modes. However, if you want to access video or snapshots over a network -- even a high-speed intranet -- at present their less-than-friendly software does not support resolutions higher than 4CIF! So you would have to sit in front of the NVR itself, with just a mouse and remote control, to monitor in HD. An absurd shortcoming that I hope will be corrected soon!

I ordered in Costco, delivered on time. Very nice picture as expected, wide angle cameras very nice option. Installation somewhat easy except remote viewing I have not been able to make it work, I have to say that they have the worst customer service you can deal with, waiting time on the phone 2 to 3 hours and sometimes they don't speak understandable English so that only make matters worst. The last time I made a connection after 2-1/2 hours the tech disconnected me and never called back. Very disappointing. So far the tech department have not been able to solve the issue, I still can't see my cameras from remote area away from home, I hope that I can get a hold of some one one day and get them to work other wise well return unit to the store. The fan makes lots of noise more like a refrigerator in the kitchen, hope they fix that problem and contact all of us for upgrade. I don't give 5 stars because of tech. service so bad and the noise, otherwise is a very nice system.

Tech support was ultimately very helpful, however, the first few attempts I got a busy signal then once I got through it took almost an hour between holding, then speaking to someone with a heavy Indian accent and having to hold again to get someone to help me with setup. I am a retired electronics engineer so I am not quite a novice at this. Once I got someone who was knowledgeble, and spoke well, it took him only a few minutes(remotely controlling my PC) to determine that I had the recorder & PC on different routers. Apparently a no no. I am still trying to find a suitable location for the recorder as its fan is quite noisy. I thought that I could use a remote location and fully control/monitor it from my PC, however, there appear to be some commands that can only be done from a directly connected monitor/TV. I am concerned about power consumption as I believe the label on the recorder is incorrect. It claims 70 watts. However, it also says 100 - 250V 6.3 amps Max 70W? Again thus far testing the system (on my coffee table) with nothing yet mounted the camera resolution day & night appears to be very good. Once I find a suitable location for the recorder, where I can plug in a monitor if needed, and mount the cameras, I will be able to give a more definitive evaluation.

Overall clarity is great. Lots of features. Not that easy to set up for internet viewing, you need to know what you are doing even with the setup wizard. Great for the price. Motion detector is not practical for outside use. Every shadow/bug seems to trip it even with sensitivity low and restricted areas of motion detection.

A few days after receiving the unit, one of the dome cameras would get stuck in the night vision mode and would take an hour to reset itself back to day mode. Contacted Costco and they had Lorex send a replacement camera. The camera took two weeks for delivery since it came from Canada. After receiving the first replacement camera, the second dome camera started doing the same thing. I contacted Costco again and this time the replacement came within a week since it came from within the US. Have not tried any of the advanced features yet, but will write another review at that time.

Great product at a good price for the quality. I was a little more particular about the camera installation and had it professionally done, hiding all the wires and such which wasn't a big task. Product and easy 5 stars. Ease of set up, directions and customer service...not so much! I called Lorex about 7 times over a period of 6 days. Usually on hold for at least an hour. If they would have added 2-3 more, very short, very simple directions on the set up sheet, it'd of taken 5min. I'm not the most tech savy guy but, if the professionals I did call out couldn't figure it out, they couldn't understand customer service, then I'd have to say things can be laid out a little better. With that said, after all the hassles, now being set up for remote viewing, I'm very happy with the system.

I just received the system and I give 5 star for the system because of easy setup and built quality, I haven't installed it yet. But I decided to give 3 stars because on the email confirmation I should have 4 x LNB2153 (new style) bullet cams but when I received the package I have 4 x LNB2151 (original style) cameras. I read the self serve FAQ (see link below), I think people would expect to receive the new style cam when web is showing the old one, not the other way around. http://www.lorextechnology.com/support/self-serve/LNB2151-LNB2153-bullet-IP-camera-Ethernet-port/5900079

I ordered this system right after my car was vandalized in my own driveway. I was very happy with the box contents and the set-up procedures. Installation was a dream and the cameras aren't In-Your-Face obvious. I had all 4 cameras running in a few days, mostly because my garage is separate from the house and I had to run conduit. I really appreciated having 100' of Ethernet cable per camera. I like the fact that I can set certain zones on the camera to detect motion and I can have motion trigger an alarm. I have a 200' long driveway and I like using the cameras as a chime to tell me when someone is coming up the driveway or at the front door, but there lies the problem:

THE SOFTWARE NEEDS MUCH MORE INTELLIGENT MOTION DETECTION!! I have set the sensitivity so low that it can barely detect a human walking in my driveway, Hell, it no longer interprets a 20-foot-wide garage door opening and closing as "motion". Yet if a mosquito buzzes past the camera: BEEP--BEEP--BEEP--BEEPBEEP!!! Every 5 minutes, I had to turn it off so I can sleep at night. When the camera switches from day to night mode (It goes back and forth about 3-4 times every morning/evening before it decides), that is also interpreted as motion. I would HIGHLY appreciate software (similar to "Vitamin D Surveillance") that can actually determine cars, animals, and humans and filter out items that blow in the wind.

Few other things. The video quality is amazing during the day, decent at night. Nothing mind blowing at night, but better than anything in this price range. I am a bit disappointed that no matter what the image setting is, many night faces are washed out, pure white by the IR LEDs. I can't even read the license plates of my own parked cars from 20' away, day or night, I think that's a pretty important measure for clarity. The Remote control is pretty much useless, but navigating by mouse works just fine.

I'm only giving it 3 stars because the motion detection is just that bad. The whole point is being able to search through events...No good when 150+ motion events per 24 hour period that involve flying insects, things blowing in the wind, and the cameras transitioning from night to day.

Alright... so far I am happy with the product itself; for the most part. the ONE thing that is making me want to kick a baby is that, for some unknown reason, Lorex only provides a 6' power supply cable for their "wireless" cameras, yet do not sell extensions for this cable. This means that if you purchased this unit to use outside (as it is advertised) you need to have a power outlet within 6' of your camera mounting point. because of this major oversight on Lorex's behalf I drop the rating to 4 stars.

"But Frustrated!" you say... "you only gave them 3 stars!!"

this is because trying to get any help from any department other than customer service is impossible. I spent 5 minutes on hold only to have a rep put me immediately on hold, then transfer me to another rep that put me on hold only to come back to tell me that they did not carry the extension cords. Then, when I asked for the specs on the power cord to try and find an aftermarket solution I was transferred to someone's inbox and never got a call back.

so, in summation:

-the product works as advertised
-be prepared to spend money on an electrician if you want your cameras mounted in the proper places, or be able to decipher what friggin connector they use and have better luck than me in finding it.
-Don't count on customer service to help you. tech support is the only department that knows what they are doing.

Im going to give this system 2 stars, even though I may keep it, for false advertising! I would say it is false to advertise and tout motion detection when it is non-functional at night. At the 0 sensitivity setting I just got 30-40 alarms last night. It takes awhile to go through each of these. I had thought I would be able to record and view animals in the mountains at night. Now it looks like that will be a real hastle. I think better motion detection software could be written. Multi-frame filtering with configurations is needed.

I briefly tried saving off a video, like you might want to provide to law-enforcement. It is an mpeg-4. It also produced a jpg still. I clicked the mpeg4 and windows did not play it, it said the file was bad. The file will replay thru the lorex software, but I don't know what someone else you provide the file to would use. The video stored seemed to be small and square aspect, not the original. The jpg seemed to work for a still.

The picture looks good, but not as good as I had thought it would. I thought I was getting 1080p. It does display as 1080p, but it looks much more granular. If you zoom in, the image is pretty much not usable. There is some sore of pixel-to-pixel amplitude noise, which makes it hard to see how your are getting 2megapixels without stretching. I am suspicious this is a much lower res camera being stretched, or a high noise sensor being filtered. That said, in the day I enjoy looking at my view from a highly placed camera. You can still detect noise in the video, which gets better with more light but never entirely goes away. I don't understand why non-security cameras are so much better, unless there is just a lot of profit here from a very cheap camera. That said, it may be my misunderstanding, because I read that most cameras of this type are about the same, in fact they may share the source supplier.

Overall the system is functional, but not so good it has really satisfied. I may just have to make do. I think it could be done right, and it aggrevates me that an unfinished system it being touted and sold.

So the pic in the day looks good, and works with omissions in software and documentation. Pic at night looks like you are shining a flashlight forward and looking through a black and white tv with a snowy picture.....if you are old enough to appreciate that. But night mode works with decent range. That may be state of the art in this price range, but it is no pleasure to look at, but is functional. I don't know if what kind of info you would get if there was a burglary. I guess it could work (night).

Was this too harsh? I kindof like the system, and may keep it, but I am offended at the marketing hype vs. the holes in the system. I wonder if this review will last?

Oh, just looking at some of these other great reviews, about how quickly their order was shipped......I ordered on black Friday, and got a deal. My order arrived in about 2-3 days....and it was totally wrong! It took me until early Jan to get the correct NVR, until mid-Jan to get all my cameras.

I have not even tried to call. Turn around on the Web Site for questions is 2-4 days or more. I had one camera which often is not recognized. I want to exchange it. Its been a week and still no response. I put in a tech support request. after 4 days, I got an email that my question is being elevated to tech support.......

I kindof like the system, but I am a bit sad.....I wonder why the other reviews are so good? Try Googling Lorex. All-in-all though, that may just be the way it is in this price range. That is disappointing, why cant this be done right?
