Not Happy

Location: Hawaii
Date : August 8, 2014

My system stopping working while I was still under my warranty. The process of dealing with customer service has been a complete nightmare. I started the process about one month ago and I am still trying to find resolution. Each time I call customer service I am on hold for over an hour. I have requested the call back option and never heard from anyone. I am past the point of wanting to fix the system, I just want to get rid of it, so I don't have to deal with the awful customer service again. I am currently on hold and it has been 1 hour and 22 minutes.

I continue to have problems with remote connectivity with this system. I dread having to call customer service because of the extended wait times and the techs not being very friendly. Its like I am bothering them with the call. i hope that I get the extended warranty with this review because i will need it!

The equipment was higher quality than I expected. It all worked out of the box which was great. The cameras can be wireless or direct wired which is good for people who have complex installs or do not feel confident running wires in the walls. The fan on the recording unit is a bit noisy but I a assume it is pulling allot of air. Since that can be placed in a out of the way area connected to the network it can be put in a place where sound is not an issue.

Image quality is excellent and provides good images day or night.

I ordered the complete LNR282C6B 6 camera NVR system from Lorex after a lot of careful researching on the net. The NVR is the LNR200 series 8 channel model with built in PoE ports to power up the cameras. One cat5e cable (100 feet included with each camera) supplies both the video feed and the DC voltage to power the camera. Way better than the analog systems where you had to run a coax and a power cable.

Installation was quick and easy for the cameras but fishing the wires through our commercial building not so much... got the job done finally.

Everything powered up perfectly first time although one camera didn't work - traced the problem to a bad RJ45 connector - swapped it out and problem solved. Guess that one cable slipped through quality control...

Next it was configuring the NVR for remote connectivity over the internet and for the iPhone app. All went well until I had a problem with port forwarding on my Cisco RV-016 router.

One call to tech support - and despite other reviewer's complaints about being put on hold forever - I was up and running in less than 10 minutes. The tech took control of my computer remotely and configured my router properly. Special thanks to Roberto I. Thanks a million Rob.

All in all I am very pleased with this Lorex IP security package. The picture quality is absolutely stunning.

I might purchase a second complete system if we decide on more cameras in the future.

I bought the Lorex Stratus Vantage LNR382 system with 4 outdoor security cameras and 2 outdoor dome cameras from Costco. I wanted HD at 1080p resolution, recorded events, complete control of my own operation and importantly the ability to do all of this from my Mac computer, iPhone and iPad. I know that this was a lot of "wants" but I got exactly what I wanted. I am not a computer nerd but do use a Mac and all this needed to be incredibly easy for my old brain. In short, it was and is! This was an incredibly easy and intuitive experience for me with only a little difficulty using my iPad with all of this. Once I had a handle on that all was perfect! My house was wired already for every possible contingency for security so I was able to pick what type of connectivity I wanted to use. In my case the POE was easy and important and the Lorex system allowed my to keep all wires completely hidden. I have gone on vacation and was able to see and control my entire system via the internet from hundreds of miles away with only a slight delay in reaction to changes that I wanted to make to cameras for clarity. I highly recommend this system to anyone who knows what they want to begin with and probably even for those who do not really know what that is....it is all there when you want it to be!!!

Product came quickly and true to its word was plug and play. Quality of the cameras is excellent. When viewing remotely you need some good bandwidth to support watching the videos at Full HD, otherwise they will stop a few times.
Features there are plenty, still going through them all. Highly recommend the product.

My order was delivered quickly. Set up was easy and quick. This new system that takes all of the port forwarding, etc. out of the picture is great. I've had no problem with the remote viewing either. The camera's give you a great view with really good clarity. This is a top notch system at a fraction of the cost.

Order was delivered very quickly. Installed 7 cameras and the NVR in a day. Very simple and easy to install but seems to be build very durable. I installed the NVR under a lower shelf so it can not be seen. installed a wireless mouse to operate from any where in the room. NVR does have a fan noise but not that noticeable. Setting the system up to send notification emails was a little tough but was able to figure it out after an hour or so. The biggest issue I had was the bright blue lights. They are blinding at night. Thankfully a small piece of black electrical tape and problem was solved. Picture quality is outstanding during the day and better that average at night. Well worth the money so far but have only had it installed for a month. If I do have any complaints or should I say suggestions, I would love to see them offer a camera for an IP system that would have pan, tilt and/or zoom function I can control remotely. I would also like them to offer a faster forward and reverse time than 4x (on NVR) and 8x in software when reviewing playback. Would purchase again.

Very happy with LNR382C4B System. Easy to set up and operate. Bought the 1080P for a quality picture. Really wanted the POE capabilities this system offers. It worked out great and the picture quality is excellent!! I have some of the camera's mounted outside on my building and the distance covered in the parking lot look nice and clear.

i purchased this unit from Lorex official store with 2 additional cameras. i guess it woks fine for 4 cameras. it has been three months since i hooked it up. i had one bad camera, which the night vision doesnt activate and lorex replaced free of charge. My main issue about the product is under multiscreen format , 2 or 3 cameras comes up as no resource or wont get any picture..
Out of 8 cameras , 6 will give live picture and 2 will give no resource message. But i will get all the pictures in single view mode. and it is really annoying screen switches every 5 secs. Tech support has no clue how to resolve this issue and talking to level 3 support 3 times about this issues, they said lorex is aware of it and it is a firmware issue and they will release a new firmware in 1-2 weeks. it has been more than 3 months and no software. Those who are buying 8 camera system be aware of this.

I have purchased this system to be installed on a hotel that i own. Let me tell you i am not disappointed. I highly recommend this NVR system if you are planning on upgrading or installing a new system. It is so easy to install it is almost like plug wait 30 seconds and play.
Remote viewing is a little bit more challenging, it will take a little bit more time to set up but in the long run it will pay off.
I was shocked to see how clear the definition is on this cameras.
The only downside i see is that if you get extra cameras can get expensive.
Overall i am loving it. Good job guys.

I spent a long time looking for a security camera system, and finally decided on Lorex. I purchased the HD POE version that came with the NVR and six bullet cameras. I still haven't installed the system because I ran out of warm weather (currently zero degrees in the Twin Cities), and will probably need to wait until the Spring to do it since the cameras probably won't work in sub-zero temperatures anyway. I'll have to update this review once the system is up and running. The only issue that I had was with the 30-day price guarantee. I purchased the system on October 31 with Lorex's standard 15% discount. The Black Friday discount ended up being 25% (within the 30-day price guarantee period). I couldn't find any details to Lorex's guarantee anywhere on their website, so I contacted them directly. They explained to me that they would not honor the guarantee during the Black Friday sales. It would be nice if Lorex would publish their guarantee. For this issue alone, I will have to give only a 3-star review pending the installation of the product.

I purchased the LNR380 with 6 bullet cameras on Cyber Monday. It took about a week and two calls to get a shipping notification, but with the amount of Cyber Monday orders, I cannot complain. Once the order arrived, I was about to test one of the cameras and was very impressed with the clarity and picture of the HD cameras. Due to my work schedule I was not able to install the cameras for couple weeks. But I was able to complete the entire install in two days (it would only take about 7 hours for the entire project. I have an open attic area and a channel leading from the attic to the basment where the HVAC lines run. I ran all six PoE cables down the channel from the attic to the basment and was able to run them along the duct work to right under my bedroom. I have all the line running to my bedroom so that it is much easier to view the cameras from my HD tv mounted on the wall. All six lines were able to be run through a 1 inch hole in the floor joist only after the terminals on the PoE cables were staggered every 6 inches or so and secured with electrical tape. My cameras are secured to the eaves near the soffits. My eaves are vinyl but are very secure and I could not even pop them out of place if I tried. I was wanting to at least secure them to wood but as far as running the cables and the camera connection, the eaves worked the best. Like I said before, the picture quality is fantastic especially during the daylight when the cameras record in color. The IR for night recording works very well and the 150 ft view is very accurate. The motion detection however, is not working like I hoped. I set up the email alerts and set the sensitivity on high and I was recieving notifications every few minutes with no severe motion. Bugs flying in front of the lense and trees swaying seem to set it off. I even limited the motion field but was still receiving false alerts. I have submitted a help ticket to Lorex but due to the holidays I have not heard back yet. I did receive a notification that my ticket had been upgraded but I will submit a follow up review with the customer service experience. I would highly recommend this system, especially with the HD cameras, to anyone who would like that extra layer of security/protection and needs a high quality system. I plan on purchasing two addition cameras to fill my NVR and get the most out of it. I also recommend viewing on an HD TV and you will not be disappointed. Setting up the Stratus App on my iPhone and connecting it was so easy, as long as there is internet to the NVR, just use the app and follow the instructions.
