Great Watchdog

We have numerous Lorex cameras installed around our home. Love the touch screen.

Its easy to use, and the quality of the images is very good. I can watch my grandchildren in the back yard and see who is at my front door at the same time. The best investment we have purchased in a long time. I would recommend to anyone.

Pros: loves the wireless application on my smart phone
Cons: monitor came with interior scratches on screen.
Works as promoted. I would not recommend do it yourself installing. even the recommended, expensive installer, was somewhat clueless as to the operation of the system and had difficulty. Monitor came with interior screen scratches. No problem with Lorex doing an exchange just for the monitor.

Great system and love the touch screen. Makes installing the cameras a lot easier because you can watch that camera to make your adjustments for the best coverage. Makes the yard and shed area more secure.

Great system. Don't need all the cameras but want to add a wireless camera to system and of course not a problem because the systems are of high quality and are compatible with their cameras. Way easier than running cable to front of house from detached garage.

I have found that both the product and company have exceeded my expectations. They have made a science out of producing a product that are simple to install and use. The product has met all our needs.

Although I haven't been able to hook up the outside cameras due to the extreme arctic temperatures we've been experiencing, the initial testing of the system inside the home gives me complete confidence that this system will perform all the required tasks that I will expect from it. Once the temperatures taper off to a tolerable degree for outside installation, I will update my review. But for now, I'm satisfied with this purchase.

I love the camera system. It was a little hard to set up and I had to pay someone to help me because I wouldn't have been able to do it on my own. But now that it's all set up, it works like a charm. I love the mobile app. Very good deal for the money.

Conclusion Lorex' Wireless System (#LW2301) is a relatively compact surveillance system. It has very few pieces including an indoor/outdoor- Nightvision camera, a digital receiver with an RCA stereo output, 2 GB harddrive and an assortment of mounting accessories. * I found the installation pretty straightforward and not really needing to consult the manual. However, there is a need for the manual if you elect to attach several (optional) cameras to the system. Other than a hammer or a screwdriver to nail the camera's wall mount, there's no other mandatory tool you'll need to get the basic system up and running in a matter of 10 minutes max. ** If, as I stated in the video, that you have one of those older model TVs' that you're going to use as the monitor, then you'll need a mono-stereo input converter, which is about $20, to be able to receive the signal from the camera to the receiver. I'd also recommend, a UPS (a portable battery backup unit) prices range from $35- $200 with the median around $60. *** When deciding how to use the system, I found it important, especially if you're considering it for home use to think about where you want to have strict surveillance. If you want to be alerted when someone is just outside your home, the camera must be placed outside. I made an interesting discovery during the first day of testing. I mounted the camera in the foyer with the backdoor several feet away. The foyer is separated by several full-length glass that opens up to the outside. With the camera aimed directly outside past the foyer (with a clear shot of roughly 50 ), the camera would stream people going by but wouldn't recognize them even someone who was directly on the opposite side of the open glass door to the foyer. It was not until the person walked in that the system recognized them. This is not a negative criticism but an observation as to the limits of the system. I also wasn't terribly impressed with the resolution of the image saved on the receiver's harddrive. As you can see in the video, the image of the person walking by and setting off the alarm (me!) wasn't sharp despite my being no more than a foot away from the camera. **** For what it promises and for the price, I would consider this a good (not a great) buy for a home/ apartment use and maybe for a section of an office in a small business. Four stars.

The latest DVR and 8 cameras were purchased in 08/16/13 to replace a DVR that was burned up by its power supply and was out of warranty. The HDD had problems after a few months in auto booting the hard drive once a month and then once a week and then every few minutes and then would not display any cameras. I finally got DVR replaced in Feb 2014. Received new DVR on 03/18/14 AND the new DVR HDD started auto rebooting on 03/26/14. Switching back and forth between cameras. This DVR was returned on 06/04/14 and its now 06/23/14 awaiting the 3rd DVR and hope this one lasts more than a week.

System in our vacation lake house is continuing to work with only minor camera switching on its own. Customer service exchanges DVR fast BUT the time delay between getting them to issue RMA and shipping from Canada thru customs takes 4 or 5 weeks and your are out of surveillance. I am thinking of buying a SPARE DVR to use when the main DVR of either house crashes so that I will have something working and recording.

I need the system working long enough to set up remote viewing and working thru trying to get the PTZ cameras working in both homes.
