LHD100 Series - MacViewer Client Software FAQ

MacViewer is a client software that allows you to connect to LHD100 Series High Definition DVR's on Mac computers, view your cameras, and playback recorded video.
NOTE: MacViewer is compatible with Mac computers with Intel processors running Mac OS 10.7 and higher. PowerPC is not supported.
Installing MacViewer
- Download Client Software for Mac from the Downloads tab for the LHD100 Series.
- Double-click LHD100_SERIES_CLIENT_MAC.zip to extract the software. You will see the MacViewer software in the same folder as the zip file. You can double-click the software to open it, or you can drag the software to your Desktop or Applications list if you want to run the software from a more convenient location.
Using MacViewer to Connect to your DVR
First, confirm connectivity to your DVR over the local network (LAN). Then, set up a remote connection and confirm connectivity over the Internet.
To connect to your DVR on a local network:
NOTE: To complete the steps below, your computer must be on the same network as your DVR.
- Power off your DVR by disconnecting the power cable.
- Connect an Ethernet cable (included) to the ETHERNET port on the rear panel of the DVR.

Connect the other end of the Ethernet cable to an empty LAN port (usually numbered 1~4) on your router.
- Reconnect the power cable to power the DVR back on.

Press the
button on the front panel of the DVR to open the System Information window. -
Write down the IP Address, Web Port, and Client Port number of the DVR.
- A local IP looks something like this: 192.168.50.219.
- Write down the port numbers beside Web Port and Client Port.

On your computer, double-click MacViewer icon (
). MacViewer opens. -
Click Device
to open the Connection Manager. -
Configure the following:
- Site Name: Enter a name for your DVR. This can be anything of your choice.
- Address: Enter the DVR's IP address you wrote down in step 6.
- Port: Enter the DVR's Client Port (default: 3000).
- User ID: Enter the DVR's user name (default: admin).

Password: Enter the DVR's password (default: left blank).

- Click Add then Connect. MacViewer connects to your DVR and streams live video from your cameras.
To connect to your DVR over the Internet:
Step 1 of 3: Port forwarding and DDNS registration:
- Port forward the Web and Client ports (default: 80, 3000) on your router to your DVR's IP address. For more information on port forwarding, see the Port Forward a Router guide.
- Click here and follow the instructions to register your DVR for DDNS. Lorex offers a free DDNS service for use with your system. A DDNS account allows you to set up a web site address that points back to your local network. This allows you to connect to your system remotely. You must create a DDNS account in the same network as your DVR.

Record the following information from the confirmation email sent to you after you register for DDNS:
- Domain name/URL Request
- DDNS User Name
- Device DDNS Password
Step 2 of 3: Enable DDNS on the DVR:
- On the DVR, Right-click to open the Main Menu and click Setup.
- Click Network and select the DDNS tab.
- Under DDNS Enable, select LorexDDNS.
- Under Domain Name, enter your Domain name/URL Request from the confirmation email that was sent after you created your DDNS account. Click Save & Exit to confirm.
- Under User Name, enter your DDNS User Name that was emailed to you after DDNS registration. Click Save & Exit to confirm.

Under User Password, enter your DDNS Device Password that was emailed to you after DDNS registration. Click Save & Exit to confirm.

- Click Save. Click Exit to return to Live Viewing.
Step 3 of 3: Configure MacViewer and confirm remote connection:

Double-click the MacViewer icon (
) to open MacViewer. -
Click Device
to open the Connection Manager. -
Configure the following:
- Site Name: Enter a name for your DVR of your choice.
- Address: Enter the DDNS address you have just created. For example, if your Domain Name/URL Request from the confirmation email is tomsmith, enter tomsmith.lorexddns.net.
- Port: Enter the DVR's Client Port (default: 3000).
- User ID: Enter the DVR's user name (default: admin).

Password: Enter the DVR's password (default: left blank).

- Click Add then click Connect. MacViewer connects to your DVR and streams live video from your cameras.
Using MacViewer

- Display: View live video from your cameras. Double-click on a camera to select it in single-channel view.
- DVR Selector: Use the drop-down menu to select your DVR if you have multiple DVRs saved in the Connection Manager.

Control Buttons:
- Pan/Tilt: Access PTZ controls (PTZ camera required).

Snapshot: Click Snapshot to take a still image of the display. A window opens with your snapshot. To save the snapshot, click Save, enter a file name, select a save folder, and click Save again.

- Search: Click to search and playback video recorded on your DVR (see Using Search for details).
- Connect: Connect to the selected DVR.
- Device: Open the Connection Manager to add, modify, or delete a DVR (see Managing DVR's with Connection Manager for details).
- Split-Screen Selectors: Select split-screen camera configurations.
- Full-Screen: Click to open the Display in full-screen. Right-click to exit full-screen.
Using Search
Search allows you to search and playback video recorded on your DVR.

To playback recorded video:

Click Search
. -
Select a time and date for playback.

Click Date
to bring up an on-screen calendar and click to select a date.

In the Time Bar, click each section of the time and use the arrows or keyboard to set the time.

Click Date

Click
to play. Click to
rewind and click
to stop playback. - Click Exit Search to return to Live View.
Managing DVR's with Connection Manager
Use the Connection Manager to manage connection details for your DVR or DVR's.
Delete a DVR:

Click Device
to open the Connection Manager. - Click the checkbox next to the name of the DVR you want to delete.

Click Delete.

Modify a DVR:

Click Device
to open the connection manager. - Click the checkbox next to the name of the DVR you want to modify.
- Modify the connection information as needed and then click Update.

Click Connect to connect to your DVR.
