The system comes with a pre-installed SATA hard drive. You can expand the hard drive with a replacement 2.5” or 3.5” SATA
hard drive up to 6TB.
Note
It is recommended to use surveillance or security-certified hard drives, which are designed to be reliable over long periods
of time while recording 24/7. Security-certified hard drives are available at lorextechnology.com.

Remove the screws from the rear panel (×3) and the side panels (×1 on each side) of the DVR.

Turn the DVR over carefully.
Hold the hard drive securely in place while removing the hard drive screws (×4) on the bottom panel of the DVR.
Keep holding the hard drive and turn the DVR back over. Lift the hard drive from the DVR.
Disconnect the power and data cables.
If you are not planning to replace the hard drive immediately, reattach the cover and replace the screws in the side and

16.2 Installing a Hard Drive
WARNING
Make sure that the power cable has been disconnected from the DVR before changing the hard drive.
Prerequisites:
There must be no hard drive currently installed in your DVR before using the steps below. For full instructions on removing hard drives, see 16.1 Removing the Hard Drive.
Remove the screws from the rear panel (×3) and the side panels (×1 on each side) of the DVR.
Gently slide the cover away from the rear panel and lift off. Be careful of sharp edges.
Next, you must install the hard drive:
Connect the power and data cables to the hard drive.
Position the hard drive over the hard drive screw holes (×4) in the bottom panel of the DVR.
Note
There are 2 sets of hard drive screw holes: one for 3.5” drives, and one for 2.5” drives.
For 3.5” drives, the power and data cables should point toward the front panel of the DVR.
For 2.5” drives, the power and data cables should point toward the fan on the side panel of the DVR.
Holding the hard drive securely in place, turn the DVR over. Keep holding the hard drive while inserting the hard drive screws (×4) on the bottom panel of the DVR (use the screw configuration on the left for 3.5” drives, or the one on the right for 2.5” drives).
Note
16-channel DVRs feature 2 hard drive bays, allowing you to install 2 hard drives up to 6TB each. If you are using 2 hard drives, ensure both hard drives are secured with 4 hard drive screws each (use the screw configuration
on the left for 3.5” drives, or the one on the right for 2.5” drives).
Keep holding the hard drive and turn the DVR back over.
Reattach the cover and replace the screws in the side and back panel of the DVR.
