18 Hard Drive Installation
Your DVR comes with a security-grade hard drive pre-installed. You have the option to upgrade the hard drive with a single
drive up to .
18.1 Removing the Hard Drive

Remove the screws from the rear panel (×3) and the side panels (×1 on each side) of the recorder.
- Gently slide the cover away from the rear panel and lift off. Be careful of sharp edges.

Next, you must remove the hard drive from the housing so you can access the data and power cables running to the hard drive.
- Turn the recorder over carefully.

Hold the hard drive securely in place while removing the hard drive screws (×4) on the bottom panel of the recorder.
- Keep holding the hard drive and turn the recorder back over. Lift the hard drive from the recorder.

Disconnect the power and data cables.
- If you are not planning to replace the hard drive immediately, reattach the cover and replace the screws in the side and back panel of the recorder. For full instructions on installing a hard drive, see 18.2 Installing a Hard Drive .
18.2 Installing a Hard Drive
Prerequisites:
- There must be no hard drive currently installed in your recorder before using the steps below. For full instructions on removing hard drives, see 18.1 Removing the Hard Drive .

Remove the screws from the rear panel (×3) and the side panels (×1 on each side) of the recorder.
- Gently slide the cover away from the rear panel and lift off. Be careful of sharp edges.

Next, you must install the hard drive:
- Connect the power and data cables to the hard drive.

Position the hard drive over the hard drive screw holes (×4) in the bottom panel of the recorder.

Holding the hard drive securely in place, turn the recorder over. Keep holding the hard drive while inserting the hard drive screws (×4) on the bottom panel of the recorder.
- Turn the recorder back over.
- Reattach the cover and replace the screws in the side and back panel of the recorder.
