I use this camera as a view of infront of my front solid wood door and to record any vechiels in my driveway. It works as inteded and does what I required.
Setup was easy and had up and running in minutes. Wireless works well considering outdoor locations.

Software on the ipad and iphone could be better and should be looked at by Lorex.

All in all, I am happy.

This product preformed better than expected
I am using it for both home and my shop. My shop is 300 feet from my house with a forest of trees in the way. I talked with a rep from Lorex and they recommended I try the directional antennae to get the signal through the trees. With no guarantee it would work but with a money back guarantee if it didn't I bought it.
It works perfectly the picture is clear and the signal is strong.
The set up was so easy I had it running in no time, then download the phone app tied the two together and it's worked perfectly since.
I get alerts so I can view from my phone and I know what is happening wherever I am.
If you want a small but affordable that is easy to use this is it.

I read reviews and decided to give it a try. I set my two camera's up and they worked great. Since then we have had to make three or four calls to the technical department. All issues I think were app related. They were worked out so went ahead and ordered my third camera. But I did tell them on the last call that if I have to make another call because the app is acting up, the camera's will come back. The camera's are no good to me if I can't view my home while I am away. That's the feature I bought these camera's for.

Pros-The colors are vivid and clear
The sound is clear and very loud. Easy to understand the person talking.
Easy set up.

Cons- The App needs work
But very satisfied so far.

We bought this system on 1/26/2016 and the monitor/DVR did not work. We sent it back for replacement on 2/6/2/16 but we did not receive anything back from the company as of 2/24/2016, We called many times and opened up several tickets but still heard nothing. The customer service is so bad and they did not know what they were doing and could not help at all. We wanted to return this defect product or dispute this charge if we still don't hear anything back from the company....

We apologize for any difficulty you experienced and were happy to get this resolved for you. Thank you.

Initial setup was a breeze. I think the video is on par with some of the higher end systems, and came at a reasonable price. We are getting older, and use it to monitor both the front and back of our home. It definitely works well for us.

Documentation and sales info shows a very capable and easy to install video monitoring system. This was all true! I'm using the system for continuous recording of my property boundary to document issue with rental neighbors.
However what is lacking us technical support with issues like wifi interference problems. If you have many neighbors all with wifi internet, etc this easily interferes with Lorax wifi camera transmission and contact is lost regularly. So beware

We are still trying to get an electrician out to run an outlet to our front porch so we can use the camera to see who is approaching the house. We have tried the 2 cameras and both work, as well as the 9" monitor. As soon as we get it all up and running for awhile, I will write another review to tell you how it is working.

Just love it. I read so many reviews and different brands Lorex just was the only I felt good about. Bought the HD82W and it was so easy to install. I love how clear it is. You can download the Lorex SD Pro app on your Iphone it gives you alert when movement happens. Very easy to use and you can talk from the screen or Iphone if someone is at the front door. Very good picture and have no problems at all. Just amazing for the price go wireless.

I have had this wireless system for over a year now,The recording has never worked correctly.I have one camera that the detection is turned off and it wont stop recording. the other camera is set to HIGH and the only time it records is if I jump up and down in front of it.Both cameras are set to record for 15 seconds. I had one camera that stopped working for about a week then decided to work again. If you just want it to watch the monitor it works fine, Just don't count on it to record in time of need.

Thank you for your feedback. Our technical support team would be happy to assist you and can be reached at 1-877-755-6739.

The model HD82 that I purchased worked fine for about 2 weeks. The monitor became intermittent. After many attempts to contact tech support, I was finally,on Nov 9, able to talk to someone that was very helpful. He determined that the monitor needed to be replaced and assigned a ticket number. Two weeks later I nave not received a monitor or shipping notice. In attempting to follow up, I was put on hold for more than 46 minutes before being disconnected. I called back the next day and was connected to 4 different people and after 31 minutes, was promised that I would receive a new monitor within 5 working days. I have little expectation that will happen.

Thank you for your feedback. We apologize for the delay with your replacement. We hope it's working well for you now.

The product does provide the features advertised. The instructions are not always accurate as the manual dies not match the menus so you will need to figure that part out on your own. Calling customer support is an endeavor that will likely yield little to no help. After working through the incorrect on line manual because there is no manual in the box, I needed to call because smart phone alerts simply did not work. After 45 minutes on the phone and being told I needed to call my carrier (Verizon) I hung up. I ended up rebooting the Lorex tablet and everything started working. Image being on the phone for 45 minutes and they don't even try restarting the tablet even though they wanted to review every setting on the system. Anyway only call them if you need to otherwise you are wasting your time. My next issue is with their DDNS offering. Not sure it even works with this product since there is no where to enter the domain info in the product as the manual says. Not sure it is even needed since I have my smart phone working while not at home. Good product bad manuals and even worse customer support!!!!!

The unit purchased was the 4 camera, set them up to view all around the house. The night vision is a great attribute and has great distance. The other feature I like is the two way audio talk on all cameras. We are very satisfied with the Lorex security system and would recommend to my friends.

The system works well and I would recommend it with out hesitation. Having said that, there are two things that I would like to see improved. There is a tooth/indexing system for tilting the camera. I would like to see finer teeth as that would facilitate getting the camera aimed exactly where you want it. Secondly, I have a lot of ambient light. At night, the brightness needs to be at the lowest setting to reduce wash out of detail. During the day there is some shade and it requires a middle setting. That's not a problem as long as I'm there to change it, but I'm not always here. That's why I need a surveillance system.

Good purchase would recommend

It's been about one month since I installed the LW2962H cameras (one by the front porch and one at the side of the house) and so for the system works great. I keep the tablet in the kitchen and signal strength has not been an issue. I have a Blackberry Z10 phone so I installed the Android Lorex app and I can view live feeds of both cameras on wifi or remotely but unfortunately the notifications of motion do not work on my phone. Other than this lack of functionality I am happy with the product for the cost and so far the cameras and tablet work great. The largest issue was installation due to the power adapters using the smaller 3.5mm power plugs when most camera systems use the more common 5.5mm power tips. I found adapters online that allowed me to use a standard 100ft power extension cable to run under my eves trough. Once everything was up and running it was nice to know that now I can see what happens in front/side of my house during the day. If I can figure out how to run power to the other side and back of the house I might consider adding a 3rd or 4th camera in the future.

I purchased this system to replace a video doorbell from a different manufacturer. The cameras with this system provide much better quality and are a good value for the price. I set one of the cameras up by the front door and use the two way intercom to screen visitors I don't know without having to go to the door. Both the video and audio are very good. The system was easy to set up, and I like having the monitor next to my desk so that I can see what is going on. I bought an additional 36GB SD card to record video when the cameras detect motion. I have been using it over a month and still have more than 75% capacity left. There is a setting to start recording over old video files once the SD card is full if you don't want to put in a new card. I'm very happy with the system so far, and plan to purchase an additional add-on camera to put in my back yard. I haven't used the mobile app yet, but plan on doing so in the near future.

We needed to un-learn our habit from using iPad. We kept touching the screen and thought that's how we could access the control. LOL. The touch buttons are below the screen and took us awhile to get used to it. So far so good.

The product worked flawlessly for 4 months and then quit without a warning. Went through a laborious process of getting a replacement. The replacement seems to be working well for a week now. In summary it is a technically good product with limited reliability. Pros: ===== 1. Easy to setup. 2. No interference with baby monitoring systems. 3. Easy network access of captured data. Cons: ===== 1. Long-term reliability suspect. Will update review in case of change. 2. Replacement process tedious. Product's impact will improve a lot if the monitor can be connected wirelessly to existing network.

I have had the regular wireless cameras for a few years and thought I would try the High Def cameras after seeing some online video and I got them a couple days ago and hooked them up within half an hour...I couldn't be more pleased with the quality of the picture and the best part is getting the video with sound and talk back feature on my IPhone and IPad...the record and playback feature is simple and mother whole setup is excellent for the money and I highly recommend it ....P.s. My brother and my daughter are wanting these cameras also and were very impressed with picture quality....

My wife just opened a store that sells high quality hand made items. This is a new venture and neither of us has been in retail before. I installed the cameras and set everything up without a problem. Went home the first night and set up my phone and tablet to view the monitors, and it worked very well. over the next few days I experimented with talking to her from my phone through the camera and this worked fine. She just turned and waved to the camera with a not too happy look on her face. Also can listen in on conversations in the store which spoiled a surprise she was planning for me. The video quality of playback from the SD card is very good. Set up of recording schedule with a combination of motion detected recording for the days the store is not open and time slot recording for the time the store is open. Seemed straight forward to understand. Overall very satisfied.

Bought the Lorex LW2962H after much research. Had another brand for a few years and nothing but trouble. Tech service was poor. Called Lorex tech support once and not with a problem but to ask couple of questions. They were quick to answer the phone - less than 5 minute wait. Totally satisfied with their service. This will be the only cameras system i will use until they add audio to others. My only complaint is to allow more GB of storage on the micro chips. And to allow to plug up via usb to your computer or drive for storage. giving you both options on how you transfer your video over

Excellent! I was able to install the Lorex HD82 system in only 2-hours with the cameras mounted outdoors and powered up from outlets in my attic. I like that the cameras transmit the video to the screen tablet so there is no cables or WI-FI needed. The video is stored on a micro SD card up to 64GB. I don't have WI-FI so I can't comment on the mobile phone application. I would definitely recommend this product.

This is a great technical combination that allows the everyday household technician to install this program in 30 minutes provided that you have electrical outlets within ten feet of your camera installation site. The mechanism communicates with your smart phone, tablet or computer and the app lets you see whats going on from anywhere in the world using your high speed wireless network. It is worth every cent if you have a boat load of strangers knocking on your front door every five minutes selling vacuum cleaners. Also, you can see whats going on after sundown at your front door or were ever your cameras are installed. I investigated several systems and for my purpose it was right on the mark. I purchased mine directly from Lorex and my agent new all the latest technologies giving me the best option for my usage.

Love this system. Use it for monitoring our sheds, property, and pets. Especially love that I can set it up to record when there is motion only. There are 3 settings for motion detection. The scan mode is awesome for preserving your battery. When motion is detected the monitor turns on for 15 secs so you can see when there is activity on a camera. You can then turn on the monitor if you want to investigate further. The intercom is awesome for 2 way communication when needed. Cons: Night vision is blurry Joystick is hard to manage

Installed the Lorex HD82 system (aka LW2962H) recently and so far are very pleased. I replaced a Lorex system I installed about 5 years ago to upgrade to this system with much much better resolution along with app access. The older system was starting to fail, only 2 out of the 4 cameras were working properly and are out of production, therefore no longer available. However, for the price I paid and considering the weather here in S Florida I am very happy with the Lorex systems overall. I will update later if my experience with the new system changes, but so far so good!

I use the system as a video doorbell on my front porch and monitor the driveway, eventually I will add two more cameras to Monitor the rest of my property. I Velcroed the monitor to the wall and ran the power wire & cat5 through wall to basement outlet for a custom built-in look. Customer service, installation, and operation, are excellent and I can't see where I could've made a better decision. Thanks Again, Dave

Overall this is a Great buy. If i were to change anything I would add a wifi function to the Display, so I dont have to Keep my router connected to the Display.

Lorex HD82 or LW2962H

This is our first time into security cameras and systems. After looking at many and varied systems settled on HD 82 by Lorex. Ordered on line and received system about 2 weeks later. (Christmass/NewYears). Received LW2962H Model. Assume his is the same as HD 82 specs are the same. Do not know why the different model numbers.
Cameras are pre-paired. Only major work on my part was running a power outlet to the area in the attic close to the camera locations.
From Lorex site I downloaded the PDF for the LW2960. Set laptop with PDF doc next to screen and used instructions for setup and how to use. The documentation provided in the box does not have all data required. System up for about a week and working. Still learning and have not done the phone connection as yet.
Observations on experience. Do not know why model numbers vary. Tried asking questions of sales and customer service using the ticket system. No response to date.
Details on night vision are not easy to find. Appears object needs to be within 20 feet at night to trigger recording.
Overall happy with system primary use is alert when approach from driveway is made. Cannot see this from inside house. Other camera covers rear side entrance.

I purchased the Lorex HD82 system (aka LW2962H) in December 2014, and this is my first security camera purchase. I thought it was very reasonable priced and amazingly simple to set up and install. The two HD cameras provide extremely clear images (available in either VGA or HD) and audio, and the 9” monitor is intuitive to use. Finally, the Lorex SDPro app for smartphones allows me to view the live images from the cameras on my smartphone, wherever I am! I highly recommend this system.

I am still in process of setting up. Just have it up to windows until spring. Very satisfied so far. Only improvement I see is the camera only tilts up or down. Would be great if it would also adjust side to side. I tried a camera outfit from another company that worked through my computer. No good. Having a separate monitor is the only way to go. Sd card would not work so they are sending me a new monitor. That is the best part. Tech. support is wonderful, and they speak English!! In spring pretty sure I will add a couple of more cameras and maybe a range extender.

Just brought this system and so far we like it, video are very clear, everyone complains about night vision but remember but I think its clear as can be. The only complaints I have, that the monitor has to be connected to a modem ( I thought it was WIFI enabled ), and since the computer is in our bedroom I have to turn off the monitor and by doing so I don't receive or can not see the cams from the app as it disables the cams. Hopefully Lorex can do something about this. Also, the joystick is very sensitive ( this is a minor complaint though).

After searching for a camera system to replace my old uniden system I decided on the Loren hd82. After about 30 mins of installation I was ready to go. The daytime view of the cameras are beautiful. The image at night time is a liittle grainy. My wife ordered the 2932 system and I do have to say the cameras in that system has a much better night time plus the ball mounts gives you more control than these mounts. Of course what separates this system apart is the remote monitor app. I was able to plug a network cable straight to the monitor without going thru a computer, then download the app to my iPhone , scan the monitor and within minutes I could review live images anywhere i went right on my phone. I can't say enough on how great the remote viewing is. We left the house yesterday and my wife asked if I closed the garage so I clicked on the app and showed her it was closed, priceless. Overal I think this is a great system, it's not perfect but unless your willing to run hard wire and spend a lot of money, good luck finding a better system for the price. I do believe Lorex will continue to update the firmware so the system should only get better as time goes on.

I purchased the LW491HD system a few weeks ago and so far it has worked great. I agree with most of the previous reviews except I have not had any issues with night time recording. I selected this system based on the advertised range. I have one camera mounted on an out building about 150’ from my house to monitor my driveway. The camera has not had connectivity issues and on the most sensitive setting it was picking up traffic on the main road 500’ away. On the medium setting it picks up cars about 200’ down the driveway which is more desirable for my use. I do not have high speed internet available, so I did not think I could take advantage of the remote access. I do have an iPhone 4S that broadcasts a “hotspot” that I use for my laptop. After some research I purchased a CradlePoint MBR95 router. This router will connect to my iPhone and the Lorex system connects to the router via the supplied cable. With this setup the remote access works perfect. Even though I did not purchase this system based on this feature. Once you start using remote access you’ll love it.

I purchased the LW491 HD system on the Lorex website. Overall, the purchasing experience was good but there was some confusing regarding US and Canadian funds. System installation was relatively straight forward. The one issue was getting power to the cameras. Pairing was straightforward. My only complaint was adjusting the camera position using the plastic housing on the camera system. I have installed motion lighting near the cameras and I find the lighting improves the night motion pictures from the Lorex LW491 HD. Overall, a decent system with a reasonable price.

My wife and I had been considering installing security cameras for years. Seems like we checked them out every time we made a trip to Costco, but I the idea of wiring up a system seemed daunting. The wireless connectivity feature of this system was a big plus and it made set up very simple and gives you a lot of flexibility for camera placement. Picture quality is very good and I was amazed that the infrared cameras work even it total darkness. Before I had them placed, my two extra cameras we running in my garage for a couple of days. There is no light in there at all, but you could see everything. Pretty cool. The controls on the screen are very intuitive and easy to operate.

Easy to set up; pairing the cameras was quick & easy and system seems to function properly. It would be helpful if they included a way to position cameras on a bookshelf; somewhere that did not need to be permanently installed, though it's not that difficult to jury-rig a way to hold the camera. It would also have been helpful if they included a full manual in the box; not just the basics of getting the system up & running.

WOW! - The LW491HD is our second Lorex system, and it is quite superior to our original ECO4. The LW491HD is truly easy to set up, pairing the cameras was a snap, and the pictures are very clear. Because our cameras are external, we don't use the "motion" feature. Every time the wind blows there is motion from the trees, so we just let it record continuously. We also appreciate the fact that it doesn't require all the antennas and space of our earlier system. Keeps things a lot neater and much more accessible. We did buy extra SD cards so that we can just switch them out and then transfer to a storage server at our convenience. Hopefully, it will be able to tolerate what is expected to be a harsh winter.Thank you, Lorex, for improving your products. We definitely recommend this system.

I brought the wireless home monitoring system 720p cameras directly from Lorex website. My good friend has recommended this same system. It came in quickly and I was quite happy about it. I got it setup and configure in no time without reading instructions; that alone was impressive. The picture resolutions were sharp and clear; even viewing on it on wifi. Although, I am not sure how good this system is when I am getting ready to install cameras around the house; I am a bit concerned of a distance from cameras to the base unit. I'll post it later and let you all know. One thing though, I can't tell which cameras send out a warning alert message. Perhaps I need to read into the manual and/or instructions. thank you very much. I recommend this great product to everyone.

LOREX-Tech-Inc-Rev-14-o16 RATE: 4.8 of 5. Wireless home monitoring system with 720p cameras. Model no.: LW491HD Four (4) cameras with 9? monitor/base-unit with 8GB MicroSDXC card. (I use a 64GB MicroSDXC card.) The unit was delivered within the allotted days predicted. It was securely packed fortunately, as the shipper dropped/crushed one top corner. (No enclosed boxes were damaged at all.) Due to personal obligations, it took about a week to install units after initial check out. The cameras produce a clear image in sun, overcast or night. Daytime images display vivid colors. The night images are competent and useful. (Do not expect NCIS images ? not a TV studio.) Individual camera shots are great. The quad display is more than useful ? day or night. The MicroSDXC card (via included Adapter) allows file transfer to a Computer. The transfer is convenient. The images are excellent. I am currently relaying on thermal detection only. This is good, as one camera catches the Flag; another has shrubs in view. The rating penalty (0.2) is because this unit does NOT communicate with my PC win-7&8 (yet-?). Last Dec., I purchased the Lorex ECO-LH140 with 8 cameras. That unit functions well with my GB home network. The network recognizes this unit as 192.168.1.77, but this unit does not reciprocate. (Had I read the description more carefully, I would had realized my Dell Venue 8 Pro w/Win8.1 would not be compatible.) My units are all exterior. I use a 3-Gal Roughneck - upside-down; trim out a narrow end ? use to reinforce opposite end; trim the cover to reinforce the top(bottom), also with 3/8?x3?x7? wood strip; mount camera through narrow end to ½? x3?x5? wood piece; Then Whole Assemble mounts to a wall. CONS: (1) Thumb Screws are Brittle Plastic ? Do Not Try to Adjust With Flat Head Screwdriver. Use Blunt Headed Plyers, if necessary. I Used 10? Adjustable Plyers for the Adjustment Ring. (2) The included Screws Are Thin and Designed to Mount in Sheetrock. I used a 3/16 drill bit in a 14.4V drill/driver (no power unit) to gently ream out the three mounting holes; a 1/8? drill bit to pre-start the screw hole; three 1 ¼ x8 deck screws - Hand Driven. I highly recommend Lorex Technology and this unit- LW491HD (also, ECO-LH140). ajD 10/16/14 ajDubre@snet.net

Set up was easy but the nuts and bolts of performance are most important in my opinion. The camera brackets are terrible compared to the old style. You cannot aim exactly where you want like before (ball system) but instead they use a detent system where the two sides match and lock. I had several instances where one position was too high, and the next detent position was too low. VERY annoying and made it hard (impossible?) to get just right in order to cover the area desired yet not have the road in the view (and thereby cause false alerts). The IR is pretty grainy. In HD or VGA mode. My 3 year old Lorex system (that this was being replaced by) had a MUCH BETTER night picture! Twice as good. For me the most important thing is motion recording and triggering. I am using for security. Well, this either is full of false triggers (on high) or , on medium, will not trigger unless the motion is close up. The motion detection recording triggers EVERY morning on EACH of the 4 cameras when they switch from IR to daylight view. Every time. When set to motion record and scan (with screen off) - when a camera triggers the screen comes on for only about 5 seconds, not 15. So the it triggers and you look and the monitor turns off. This system is not even close to the older system in terms of reliability and "bugs". If these bugs could be worked out it has potential. If not, I will be returning for a refund. I tried talking to Lorex and they claim to have 'never heard of these problems' (LOL, maybe they should read the reviews on their own website?), then tried to talk me into a more expensive system and tell me I should be using 'wired cameras'. Which is silly because ALL I want the system to do it what they claim it will do.

Overall this is a good system. The signal strength from the cameras is strong and has good range. The Android app for remote viewing works well. The 720 HD image quality is pretty good in daylight. But there are some big problems. 1. The motion detection pre-event recording feature does not work. It's supposed to automatically record the 5 seconds prior motion being detected. I've tested thoroughly and it seems to only start recording from the moment motion is detected, not 5 seconds prior. This is not a problem with slow moving subjects, but with fast moving subjects, sometimes the subject is almost out of the frame by the time the system starts recording. 2. The wireless signal from the cameras or the monitor (or both) interfere with my WiFi router signal. It doesn't completely knock out my WiFi like a microwave oven can sometimes. But it definitely slows down my WiFi noticeably. If I unplug the cameras and monitor, my WiFi network speeds back up again. 3. The night mode IR video is grainy and somewhat blurry compared with the nice sharp daytime video. Other than these 3 negatives, this system is pretty good. Night mode motion detection does work for me, but it is definitely much less sensitive to motion at night. It takes a lot more motion to trigger the recording at night. The 5 second pre-event would have been useful to help make up for the night mode motion detection weakness.

In regards to the problem of night vision detection and it not recording, well the person on the phone put in a request to Tech Support to call me back to discuss this. I have some concerns that I will only hear that they are aware of the problem (Please read current reviews from others) that they are "optimistic that LOREX will have a solution". I hope that they do resolve the problem quickly as this system is worthless if they don't. If they do, then I can say that I love how it works and you will be very happy with the overall product. I was happy when I set this up but quickly learned (as apparently others have as well) that events are not detected in night vision mode. So, I am forced to record continuously just to capture any events (the reason we want cameras, to RECORD events) and that just fills up the SD card very rapidly. I have submitted a ticket to LOREX in hope that there will be a firmware upgrade to fix this obvious problem and am awaiting a reply. I'll repost after support contacts me to offer a solution or just tell me to live with a not-as-advertised system. I like the product except for this so I'll average my rating for now but am optimistic that LOREX will have a solution.

So far we have had this system for less than 3 weeks. After a little over 2 weeks the 9 inch monitor stopped working. We took the battery out, turned it off and on, hit the reset button multiple times and after about three days it turned back on. During those three days it recorded nothing. Now that the monitor is working it quits recording at random times. For the first 2 weeks that we had it we loved it. Hopefully we can get this resolved with Lorex.

I recently purchased the LW491HD which is really the LW2962H with 2 extra cameras. I have only setup two cameras so far and It was very easy to setup and has a very good picture. I tested another camera and its just a matter of pairing them up no big deal. The app for the phone and tablet works very well too, its nice to be able to view what's going on at home when I'm away. The motion detection system is VERY sensitive even on the low setting. The power cables could be longer I have ordered some extensions through Amazon so I can hook up the other 2 cameras. The wireless signal is always good and I have one camera going through3 walls and a floor so very pleased with the reception, have yet to see it drop. The image quality at night is OK but would be hard to make out someone's face at times. My motion detection is working at night so not sure about that other review stating theirs is not working. Bottom line if you looking for a good wireless camera system this would be the one to buy.

Hi Everyone, I have to start out by saying that I am not usually someone who rates products or purchases. I buy something and I expect it to work! In this case however, I need to tell you that this camera system is fantastic. I am a tough customer and I am naturally skeptical. Well, with this product you should not be! I received it in 4 days, set it up in a matter of minutes, and enjoy watching the video on my phone via the app. The app is amazing! Even over cellular you can see amazing sharp video, hear the sound in the room, and even talk through the camera. While I am on the train to work in the morning, I can see my kids and tell them to have a great day. I have only installed 2 cameras thus far and will set up the external cameras this weekend. But, do not waiver. Just buy this product as it does everything it is supposed to can compared to other systems the price is great! You will not be sorry!!

This is my 3rd lorex system. The last one I had functioned perfectly, the only problem I had was I wanted to add a fourth camera and it was no longer made. I bought this system with 4 cameras so I wouldn't get surprised later. Had problem with one camera constantly recording. Lorex sent out a new camera right away. This system with 720p is wonderful. The secondary detection capability besides the IR works great. Night vision is good but does have some ghosting. Signal strength to monitor is good and its nice to be able to carry your monitor with you while your positioning cameras. The online software to connect to your phone works great. Am very happy with my purchase of this and the 2 other systems.

I replaced an older Lorex system with the LW2962H. The cameras are great as are several new features. All four cameras record even in the single camera mode. The best feature for me is the system's ability to detect sound and start prerecording video to save if motion is also detected. Other reviewers attest to the image quality. One of our cameras delivers a strong signal from about 150 with several walls between it and the monitor. The only negative for me is the image does not switch to the camera which has detected motion. I put the system in motion record with a single camera looking at the most important place to overcome this issue. In the quad mode an icon shows which camera is recording. Lorex must have too few service people or too many people who don't download the users manuals.

So far I installed 2 of the 4 cameras and I'm impressed. The wireless signal from cameras is strong and the receiver works well; for the price, the system is very feature-rich and pretty user friendly. Couple of improvements I would like: wifi internet connectivity would be nice as well as remote access via a web browser and email alerts.

Been reviewing security cameras, leaning more towards the high end units. Wanted to go wireless since routing wired cameras would create a problem. Bought this pair and what a breeze to install. Travel a lot, and just want to be able to monitor from afar. Used to have neighbor come in and check house weekly, but with these, I can make sure garage doors are closed, no leaks in Boiler room. Ordered several more for around the house

I had to call the manufacturer for a replacement Video Display Monitor under the manufacturer warranty. I only hope the replacement monitor last more than 30 days.

PLEASE READ! As far as the system and its ease of set up and use, it is worthy of 4 - 5 stars. Distance from cameras to receiver/monitor range from 20 feet to 300 feet in our application all work well. However, Subtract points for not being able to use an external monitor, i.e., bigger screen, and more points for having very slow customer service, long wait times , no call backs when you get tired of waiting, and you're now at an overall rating of 2 stars. Lorex makes a good product and can afford to have decent customer service. It means they would have to part with a little more of their profits.

Just got my LW491HD -- which is really a LW2962H system (2 camera 720p system) with 2 additional LW2960HAC1 cameras. I bought this for the PIR motion sensor (the video motion sensor on my old Lorex system was useless -- even on the lowest sensitivity setting, it triggered on the slightest change in ambient lighting!). Wish the housings and mounts were metal, not plastic -- which I think will be easy for someone to destroy. Easy set-up! Wish the power cords to the cameras were longer, as I am snaking one through a wall from my basement to where I want to mount the camera on the outside entryway of the house, and the power cord is not long enough to do that. Not overly impressed with the app, which I downloaded to my iPad. It may be me, but I don't see a way to download the video remotely -- so I could e-mail it to someone (like the police). My old Lorex system let me do that through DDNS on my laptop and on my iPad app. I wasn't successful trying to access my new system using DDNS on my laptop, so not sure that is supported on the LW491HD. Also didn't see any way to remotely delete the captured video events; all I could do is watch them on the iPad. Watching them remotely on the iPad was also crude -- play and pause only -- couldn't rewind or drag the video to a given point. Could only play it from the beginning. Let's hope the app gets a lot smarter!

This is quite possibly the worst security system I've ever had. I moved from a Logitech Wilife cam system to this because of the wireless. It worked fabulously for ~2 weeks. Then it started losing one or both of the camera feeds randomly and until I unplugged and replugged the affected camera. After thinking it might be a distance issue, I tried to relocate the receiver approximately 6 feet away from BOTH CAMERAS. I waited overnight thinking I'd just have to relocate the receiver. No. It had lost both streams again. Zero interference. Zero obstacles. Clear line of sight. Terrible. It's marketing is questionable. The wording about being notified of motion is misleading. What you actually need to have to be notified is their own app installed on your phone. And even that isn't the best. There is absolutely no way a computer or mac can view the feed. Even though it would be technically very easy to allow for that. No option for delayed arming for motion alerts, so when you arm it, you'll almost always get yourself alerted of you leaving your own house, and the associated space that the clip will take up on your memory card. Customer Service is simply atrocious. Calling them means you need to carve yourself out a good HOUR easily. And when speaking to them it's almost as though they know the system is flawed, but you are asked to perform ridiculous steps to 'troubleshoot'. Do not waste your money on this system, and I'd say also to stay away from Lorex as a brand. Someone who doesn't stand behind their products doesn't deserve your money. They got me, don't let them get you.

Purchased SD PRO, LCD receiver failed when setting up system. Called tech support, on weekend, other than waiting on hold for over an hour (much too long) support was helpful. They sent out replacement LCD, received via UPS within a week. Set up system with 4 cameras, set up was fairly easy, using downloadable manual from there web site was a lot more helpful than instructions included with unit. Daytime picture very good, night time picture very poor. Loaded APP to IPad, really like this feature, as Im away from site frequently and is great to be able to check things remotely. The event playback feature also good when checking on any past detections from cameras. So far very satisfied with system, other than the night picture being so poor and the long hold time reaching tech support.

I bought the Lorex LW2962H because we have had a couple car break-ins recently.I absolutely love this system. It serves our purpose to the tee. I installed the cameras to hang under the overhang of our garage one on each side criss crossing the viewing area. Other than running the wires, it was plug and play all the way. I turned on the system and it worked like a charm with out any interference. The picture was clear and looked great. I took the monitor all around my 2800 square foot house and got a clear picture all around in every room. I then hooked the monitor to the router and upgraded the firmware. A child could do it. The Night mode works great! You won?t read license plates but I can see nicely across the street and about 3 to 4 houses down, and our street light is out atm. I look forward to adding a 3rd camera for my front door when I can get the extra cash. Love it! Thanks Lorex for providing an easy solution to our concerns. :)

the camera image is quite good. the colour is good, the night vision is very good. the motion sensor is VERY sensitive. The zoom could be improved, as its not a real camera zoom - rather the monitor just zooms in on the picture (which pixelates it). The apps for phone viewing are subpar and do not have an option to access prev recordings (so if you're on vacation you can't see what's happened if something has happened at your home.) and the apps suck battery life unbelievably. also, the ipad version is just an iphone version - which looks terrible on the ipad. There is no web connection - this is a big missing item. worse when you register the website offers you a free ddns connection - walks you through setting it up - and implies you will be able to see your cameras on the web through a secure location - however after talking to tech support -- you find out this camera model / monitor model doesn't support it at all. There is a rechargeable battery on the monitor - which implies you can use it as a viewing monitor cordless.. HOWEVER, it requires a permanent WIRED ETHERNET connection - have fun finding a good location in your home w/ 1) a wired ethernet location, 2) central to viewing AND 3) close to the 4 cameras so that you can be in view. you can buy a wireless extender - but based on its description - its mounted BY the camera and one PER camera is needed (rather than the opposite on phone systems were 1 per system is needed). The power cords on the camera are not long enough for outdoor mounting -- under eaves etc you have to be able to mount 20 ft up and run the cord BACK down to the outlet - but the cords are way too short for that. there are no extensions sold on their website (which would seem like a simple solution) - the large adaptor makes it really difficult to hide the cords from outsiders unplugging your cameras - or just making it look nice. Lastly - calling in for any assistance - make sure you have at least an hour free - you'll be on hold for 40 min JUST to talk to an agent, my basic question was then bumped to 2nd level - requiring me to go back in to a 30 min queue.

I bought this product about 5 days ago. OVERALL: 4 stars! Amazing product for the price. SUPER SIMPLE INSTALLATION! If you aren't in the market for a $1000+ system with professional installation, I recommend this. It's expandable to 4 cams and 64GB micro SD card (to record up to 400hrs of HD video, total). What it comes with is enough to remotely see and hear what's happening around your house through your smartphone. VERY impressed with this budget camera system! PROS: 1. I was surprised at how strong the wifi signal is between the base and cameras. I have one cam about 100 ft and 3 walls away from base and it gets a perfect 720p resolution signal during the day. 2. The ease of use for this system is incredible. If you can use a smartphone, you can use this system. 3. Set up took less than 3 hrs total. 4. Built in microphones and speakers. Yes, it records sound. I don't know what others were talking about, but if you take the sd card out, plug it into a computer and play the videos, they DO have sound. You can also talk through the camera, through your smart phone and hear. It's a little choppy, but it can get the job done. 5. micro SD card can be wiped and ready for reuse without removing it from the base. Simply go to options, settings, format sd card. Thank you, Lorex. That could have been a pain. 6. You can remotely view your cameras' live feeds or recorded video any time, any where through your smart phone. Booyah, sense of security restored! 7. Did I mention 720p HD video? (Think major network cable show quality video). 8. Night vision can actually see surprisingly far. In total darkness, I can spot movement from about 100ft, recognize a family member or pet from about 60 ft and get an accurate face shot from about 30ft (still) or 20 ft (walking quickly). CONS: 1. The night-vision is somewhat grainy, as with most security cameras. It would be difficult to recognize someone's face while in night-vision mode. The only solution for that in this system is to mount the camera in such a way that trespassers would be forced to walk within 40ft of the camera. 2. Notifications from the motion sensors can be annoying if they are triggered frequently and there doesn't seem to be a way to shut them off. 3. The system is not built to record to a computer or hard drive. It's designed for micro sd only. 4. You simply cannot view recorded video on the base station. Can't. Nope. MORE INFO: It does require that you plug the power cord into an outlet and to operate a drill to mount the cameras. Plan on needing to tie up the cord so it isn't just dangling. Yeah, that's really all there is to it. The base station connects to the included cameras automatically upon start up and navigating options and menus in the base is extremely simple. The system also automatically sends a notification to your smartphone when a motion sensor is triggered (should you choose to download the app, which I HIGHLY recommend, because it's awesome). So if you plan to use the motion sensors, set the cameras in such a way that pets, traffic, wind blowing branches around, etc don't send you constant notifications. I'm working to find out if the notifications can be disabled, but it doesn't seem like it... I am working on running an android emulator on my pc to use a video recorder software to save recordings on my hard drive, but it is a real pain. Not that there is a problem with letting the system save on micro SD, only that it would be easier for me to use my hard drive.

I just purchased this wireless camera system from BestBuy. Overall, the cameras, the portable screen and the microSD card recording work well. However, there are 2 big problems with this system. First, there is no way to view live camera video using a PC or Mac. You can only do remote viewing from a smartphone or tablet. The second problem is even worse. This system is advertised to have a 5 second pre-event recording feature, but that is a lie. It's supposed to record the 5 seconds prior to a motion sensor being triggered, but it doesn't. It only starts recording when the camera sees motion, and records for the set time duration (15 seconds, 30 seconds or 1 minute). This is a problem for fast moving subjects because by the time the camera notices motion, the subject is almost out of view already. I called Lorex technical support and they confirmed over the phone that this system, the LW2962, does not have the 5 second pre-event recording feature. If that's true, Lorex should remove that feature from the website, the retail box, and the instruction manual.

This camera was everything I needed, it acts as an intercom, it hears everything outside, the video is clear and has great range of field. I searched for almost a year for this type of wireless camera that receives audio and can talk back. What I didn't expect was settings like motion sensor that turns the camera on when someone walks by it. It can sense someone far away like at least a 100" or more or set for close range only. The sound is also adjustable. The only suggestion I would have is to improve the customer service. I assume that the Lorex company is so busy that it takes a while to get through to them on the phone. Make sure you follow the directions. Thanks for everything Lorex. Tom

I have 2 cameras watching the front of my house, 1 covering the pool and 1 inside watching the front door and stairway. I love being able to check on noises and outside without getting out of bed. I also like knowing who's at my front door without having to answer it. Great system but hope they expand the functionality of the SD Pro app to allow users to change system settings for the cameras as well as delete recorded events.

For the price, this system is a gem! I gave it 4 stars because 1) the night time video is very blurry and looks out of focus, and 2) the wifi range is very limited. I have one camera that is 20 feet from the monitor and that signal strength is strong, but the other camera is 35 feet and goes through 3 walls and the signal strength is weak. However, it maintains a connection 99% of the time. I realize night time video can be a problem, but other systems I've tried had much better night picture. It's not high definition, I know, and for the most part I'm pleased. Pleased enough the I'm going to order two more cameras. The remote viewing using the iPhone app is excellent! The best and easiest I've tried. I recommend this system for ease of installation, remote viewing, SD card recording, and well, just about everything except for the two weak points I made.

This is our second purchase of Lorex camera systems. Pros of this system: -four cameras record at same time; old system only one at a time -easy to review video footage; old system easier on pc to review Cons of this system: -outdoor cameras base not as durable or adjustable as previous camera system (note this system states that cameras will need to be protected from rain/ snow while old cameras did fine for years and are metal not plastic) -range of old camera was stated at 450 ft; range of new camera stated 650 ft but old system range seems same or better than new range. -unable to buy 'boost' for new system range; old system did have 'boost' items to purchase available (but we chose to buy a new system rather than add to old) Overall we are happy with system's new features but feel that the range and durability/adjustability of old cameras was superior.

Ease of setup is very easy. Been running in a test mode before installing and things are running perfectly. The itunes app works great on iphone and ipad. The andriod app doesn't work in pc bluestack mode.. but, not a biggie. The really big plus is being able to drag the receiver screen around while setting up the cameras. No running back and forth to see if you have things adjusted. Something that would be nice: The ability to selectively turn off the ir lights at night on cameras behind a window.

Just bought this camera system over the past weekend. It is very user friendly and the product itself is great. Already ordered the extra two add-on cameras to have the full four camera ability. The features are awesome. I like the fact that it has built in mics, so you can actually hear as well as see what's going on outside! It only records video though, which is ok with me. The motion detected recording is by far my favorite feature so it doesn't hog up the memory chip.

This system is great so far! An ease to install, setup and operate. The reception from camers is good. The notification feature to my smartphone is great!

Purchased (2) LW491H kits, one for me and one for my neighbor. Recently, we have had some "new" neighbors move in and I wish the "new" neighbors wouldn't have. Made this purchase in hopes of deterring thievery and trespassing. I review many different systems and companies and so far so good. Installation was a breeze. The monitor may be a little confusing at first but thankfully I have a great "better half" to help with the monitor features. Do so research and like me, you will come back to Lorex for a purchase. Just hoping that the system with last for a long time without any issues. So far, so good.

The monitor/camera is great for monitoring our front door! It allows us to see who comes to the door in daylight and dark - very clear pictures and you can add the sound if you choose! Awesome item for the price. Easy to install. Easy to move the monitor from room to room. Perfect solution for us to be able to see when our feral cat comes to eat!!! If we are not monitoring the camera, there is a soft sound that alerts us to check the camera - couldn't be happier!

I'm more than satisfied with this product. It took some installing the system because I wanted to hide all the wires, but it was easy to set up and you get a clear picture.

What's great about it: Easy set up, clear picture. Records video.

What's not so great: Weather resistant not weather proof. No WIFI connection, must use Ethernet cable.

I bought this camera system to keep track of my mail and package deliveries and also to keep an eye on the front of my property. The wireless system made it easy to place the cameras but be mindful that you still need to connect it to a power source. I had one camera looking out a window but found out that the infrared light reflected off the glass at night and made night viewing impossible. There is no way to turn off the infrared lights so the only way to get outside night viewing is to mount the camera outside in a sheltered position i.e. under an awning and near an outlet. My "mailbox" camera is mounted outside under my awning and is working fine. I had to disable the "video" motion detection because a recording was triggered with every shadow, tree, or flag movement. The remote access to the camera is OK but only with a smartphone. You can not delete files that you have viewed remotely.

Easy set up and installation. This unit was purchased to view and record activity at my front door. I love the monitor and its built-in options. I did a lot of research and this one was well worth it. No maintenance required! I would highly recommend for those who need a simple solution without spending lots of money.

I bought the Lorex and I must say, " I am spoil." I love this system. Two way talking is wonderful. Picture is super clear. I am going to add the other two Lorex cameras. Loving the monitor and easy setup.
