This 6-camera system was an upgrade for my home. I ran concealed wiring, which is a bit of an endeavor, but the rest of the installation was smooth.

It's been solid and the picture quality is surprisingly good. I do get some afternoon glare in west facing cameras, and occasionally one will appear stuck in night mode - but month in and month out the system delivers. I get great peace of mind being able to view my home when I'm traveling. And I've caught several problems before they bloomed into bigger deals. I like this system and recommend it. I got a great value on a black Friday special, so I give the package 5 stars.

This was a great inexpensive system I picked up on the Lorex website around Black Friday of 2015 for about $299.00. It was easy to install and set up. I love being able to check my cameras on my smartphone while at work. The only negative thing I can say is that three of the cameras power cords failed the first year. I am pending a replacement from the company.

I purchased a six camera Lorex system. It was working great until the hard drive started acting up. The DVR would constantly beep and restart. I emailed Lorex and opened a "ticket" to solve the problem. I've yet to receive any response after two weeks. I'm disappointed with the customer service I've received. Based on the poor response, I cannot recommend this product. Buy something else. Poor customer service.

Our apologies for the wait with your support ticket. Our technical support team has replied to your inquiry.

Software is a little complicated for the beginner. Working with Tech support was great on a setup issue I had. Then my hard drive would develop a loud noise at times. I recorded the noise and sent the video to them. They had me do a few things and determined the fan was the problem. They said they were going to replace the unit and to expect something in 10-14 days. Finally over 30 days later, I started to try to contact Lorex. No emails were answered, so I tried calling. The recording says that in about 30 minutes you would be contacted. That is just their recording, if your lucky, it would be 30 hrs. After trying for a few days, they finally called back, about 2-3 days after my last call. Barely speaking English they told my wife one dvr is on the way. It did show up and has been working good, it's only been in use for 5 days so far.
Now about the product, I am happy with it. Not all cameras or ports are 1080 only 2 are. The noise for dvr is a soft whirring sound, similar to computer. I have it in my bedroom. Software is alittle tough for the beginner. Cameras appear to be doing what they're suppose to. Not sure if I'd pay $650 for it again. Three stars mainly because of customer support, it should be a lot better than it is.

This DVR is wonderful! The cameras that came with it has wonderful clarity and definition; I would definitely recommend this system. However, the night vision isn't that great unless there is sufficient lighting in the area where the camera is placed. I would still recommend purchasing this system. Thus far I love it.

I have had nothing but issues with this system since I purchased 11/30/15. I am waiting on replacement camera #2 and 3 and also my 3rd DVR. The DVRs are very noisy for home use. My second DVR just started rebooting every few minutes . Dealing with some Tech Support can be very trying. To troubleshoot a camera that was out, they actually wanted me to climb a ladder and swap cameras mounted at my roof line. Customer Support is horrible. No one gets back to you when they say they will and you have to keep calling. I would not suggest anyone "possibly" going through these troubles. I finally reached a manager "Donald" that is trying to resolve my issue that has been open for a month.

Thank you for your feedback. We apologize for any difficulty you experienced. Our customer service team was happy to assist you further with this.

Bought this system. Like them. Easy set up. But not easy with on screen control. The mouse is a joke. It is very cheaply mouse. The remote doesn't work. One camera broke after 5 and half months. They decided to give me another camera. But it's over 25 days passed, I still didn't receive the replacement camera. Call in and they say they will call me back. Never received any call from them about my replacement. Their customer service needs to be improved. I placed two different orders. I cancelled the first order one hour after I placed order. I call them right away many times to try to stop the first order being process. They said that they cannot stop the the first order from their warehouse . They suggested me to wait for the item to be arrived and start the return process. But they want me to pay for the shipping cost. I spend more than 10 hours trying to call them. Overall, I love the item. But dislike their service. And still waiting for my replacement camera to be arriving soon. But I don't know. Maybe need to call them again. This is the thing. Time is money. And I don't know why for a simple issue like mine can take over a month to resolve it. Or sometimes is not resolved.

Thank you for your feedback. We apologize for any difficulty or inconvenience you may have experienced. We were happy to resolve this for you and hope all is working well now.

Excellent cameras. I had a Arlo wireless system previous to this system but I was limited because it would only record when motion was detected . I sold them an bought this system . What a difference . I have a much wider view w/ the Lorex camera and the quality of the cameras picture and video are amazing . These cameras record 24/7 and the playback is amazing . I would highly recommend these cameras . If you are handy these cameras are fairly easy to set up. It was plug and play for me and you receive the same quality on your smartphone and tablet or desktop .

Just purchased and set-up this, my 4th Lorex DVR system. We have near 20 buildings that we want to have secured. Before buying the Lorex systems we had unwanted visitors at multiple locations.... now we have peace of mind and quick access to being able to see everything that is happening. I am impressed with the steady improvements in video quality, ease of use and set-up time. We can see the Lorex DVR on our windows, MAC, iPhones, Androids and iPads. I needed Tech Support help on getting MAC to work with latest system - Tech Support was very helpful and fast on solving... they took the extra steps of installing and testing the software with me. Thank-you.

I purchased this system for my 1 story home. Everything works great so far. The only hard part of the install was running the wires in my attic. So go wireless if money is not an issue, but this could affect performance. Hooking up to the internet was simple and the app for the iphone works fine. I will be adding 2 additional cameras in the near future.

I was very impressed at the quality of the cameras on night vision. I did some research on the type of cameras That would meet my needs. The unit was a little more then I wanted to spend but the quality of the night vision was worth the extra money. In my opinion good quality outweighs the price

I have been a long time user of Lorex products, so when it was time to upgrade, that's where I went again. That's not to say I didn't look around. I did shop around looking for the best deal and found Lorex to be the best deal. I received my new system and was up and running that day. Lorex has mode vast improvements to their user interface and ease of use. The system was a snap to get going and, even better, the FLIR app is 1000 x's better than the old app.
I upgraded from a 960 to a 1080 and, as you would expect, the difference was night and day. I love the picture quality on all interfaes (ie- app, computer, tv). When it is time to upgrade again, I'm sure to be back.

Awesome HD system for home. Pictures are clear and easy to review. Provides good surveillance to property. The price is great. Had a problem with connection because we did not have all of the wiring and accessories for Ethernet connection to the modem. Otherwise this is a very good system which we can add 2 more cameras if necessary.

Outstanding HD system for home or small business. Utilizes old standard BCD connectivity so I was able to keep my existing wiring in place and simply upgrade the DVR and cameras! Very clear picture and amazingly fast connection via smart phone compared to my last system of a different brand. Plenty of great features like digital zoom, endless programmable options and super easy set-up.

I have had a Lorex 16 camera system for several years. It was bulletproof. Power would go out and it consistantly came right back up with no outside intervention.

I am giving 2 stars for the new system only because support answers the phone quickly and tries to help (but can't).

The DVR blows and fails constantly going down over and over and not recovering without human intervention. It was replaced once but you have to wait a week to get the replacement with no way to expedite delivery.

I am a war veteran with some issues and have come to rely on my old Lorex system to check every noise and movement outside my house. I am always on guard duty for whatever reason and need a dependable system which this is not.

The system is really great when it works (about a week) then wait a week for a replacement which will also fail in a week.

I'm no longer safe with this Lorex system and I'm reinstalling the old system tonight.

Thank you for your feedback. Our apologies for any inconvenience you have experienced. Our technical support team was happy to assist you with the power adapter issue you were experiencing. Should you require further assistance, please call us at 1-877-755-6739.

I ordered this DVR and 6 high definition cameras to replace my older DVR and cameras which were about 7 years old. What an incredible difference between high definition and the older technology that I had been using. I was able to use my existing wiring which made installation a breeze. I also love how I can go back an play all of my recorded camera recordings at the same time. There is a button that you can push which will sync up all of the display windows to the exact same time so that you are able to see all of the events which took place at a given time. It is also very easy to set up remote viewing on your smart phone so that you can watch what is happening from anywhere in the world that you can get internet access. I am so glad that I decided to purchase from Lorex.

I bought a MPX86W 6 camera system to keep an eye on all the areas around our home both when I am away and when I am not outside to visually see what is going on. So far I could not be any happier then I am with this system. I have the Flir software on my Phone and Ipad as well as a 28" monitor in my garage. I goofed up when changing my box password but after talking to Tech support they walked mye right thru fixing it. The cameras give a very sharp picture and becasue I have the DVR located in the garage the fan noise that many complain about is not a problem. Actually I do not think it's that load. I did my due diligence on many different systems including other Lorex ones and found the many positive reviews on this peticular one convinced me to get it. I am very happy theat I choose this one. Installation was a breeze and everything works great. Thank you for a very good product.

Great product at a great price. Picture quality is outstanding and crystal clear. Motion settings is a little tricky, it looks like motion is triggered randomly. Product should have a sensitivity settting so that I can customize sensitivity (I have FOSCAMs that allow for this). Otherwise, this is an outstanding product. I got the system up and running within the hour. It took a few days to install/mount all the cameras outside my house.

I bought this MPX86W 6 camera system to keep an eye on my home when I am away. I also have bee hives that I need to keep an eye on, as along with bees come bears.
This system is very stylish, and blends in with my home as the cameras are very small.
By the time you see them it is already to late. The price was very good, much better than I thought. They all work very well.
I am very happy with the system so far.

My only negative is that they set in the warehouse for a week before being shipped. I tried to resolve the problem, with someone from chat, and had a prepared message sent to me advising me that there was not anything they could do. A couple days later I made out a ticket, and they responded back in a short period of time, and the problem was solved within two days.

Location: Amazing Quality! Fairly Easy Set-Up

I am very impressed with the image quality on this system! Although my first shipment arrived with a DVR that was not functional, Lorex sent a replacement and it's working great. I just finished my install this weekend and the system has been impressive. The daytime viewing is exceptional. The night vision on this system is really good by itself, but if you have some indirect outside lighting, it will only enhance the image. With that being said, be sure not to have a light directly in front of the camera or within the sight of the camera - it will degrade the video clarity. Still waiting to test the DDNS service tomorrow when I am not at home, but I do know that the FLIR app on my android smartphone works beautifully!

8 Channel 1080P Recording.
FALSE - Only 2 of the 8 channel will record 1080, all the rest are 960x480.

This thing has by far the loudest most absurd fans possible. I can hear them 30 feet away.

The only redeeming quality that these 1080 DVR's(MPX86W) have is the motion detection areas that can be defined, and relatively easy user interface.

Other than that, the extremely loud monstrosities are not suitable for a living room or computer room. They are only good for a locked away sound proof closet.

Replacing a coax cabled security system with this system is just a pipe dream. While this system shows it's capable of recording 1080, even the instruction book shows that it will, only 2 of the 8 channels can be configured to do it, this in it self is not mentioned anywhere in the ad or the instructions. Lorex never responded to my ticket asking why.

So that in it self could very well be considered fraud.

So this is the third time I've waisted my time on Lorex with my hard earned money. NEVER AGAIN.

Sorry to say RMA requested 10 minutes after use.

Thank you for your feedback. We're sorry to hear you are not satisfied with your system. Our customer service team was happy to assist you with you with a resolution.

We have had a Lorex cctv system for about 7 years and this is our first upgrade. WOW what a difference! Pictures are fantastic on a 1080p tv. System arrived several days sooner than promised and worked perfectly out of the box. Did have one minor tech problem that tech support had diagnosed and back up and running in less than 30 minutes over the phone. Very satisfied

I purchased this system two weeks ago. Installation was an easy plug and play set-up. Picture quality is very good. I have worked with 4 commercial systems and I find the Lorex system to be as good or better and the cost is much less.

I received my camera system a month ago. I installed it the past few days. It works perfectly! Picture quality it outstanding. IR quality is great also. You get a HD camera system for the price you would pay for a cheaper system from other places. I would and have recommended this system to other people.

I LOVE my Lorex cameras! I previously has Night Owl cameras and these are sooooo much better. I see about double the area that I used to and the picture is much clearer. This is a second 6 camera system that I have purchased in the last 2 months only wished I could have afforded the 1080p system or a PTZ camera. Customer support was very helpful when I had a couple of questions. There are 2 reasons I will not give it a 5, the cameras do not have audio and the cameras do not load instantly for viewing upon signing into my account on my iPad I have to do them individually. Overall a very good product.

I wish it were possible to rate zero stars for this company. Please heed the warnings from previous customers regarding Lorex Customer is quite possibly the worst you will ever encounter. The company sets the standard for false advertising and incompetence. If you check their website they are advertising a 10% discount (code PROTECT 10)......expired five days ago. Try contacting their Sales Staff to ask about the discount......30 mins on hold (listening to how important your call is), answered by a person who is difficult to understand and appears to only have the goal of finishing your call as quickly as possible. I gave up on trying to make the discount code work and decided to place the order. I then tried to use their ticket system to ask why the code didn't work (not knowing that it had expired, and the person i talked with on the phone didn't tell me). The response I received was to contact their sales staff.....same people I had called earlier. Loren advertises they ship in 24 hrs.....not true! Fortunately for me, they somehow screwed up my order and today I spent another 40 mins on hold to speak to someone in their call center (you will understand why the calls are not being answered promptly, as you can hear other people in the call center laughing and joking in the background). It has been two days since I placed the order, and they had no clue as to why it had not shipped. The really great thing.......I (hopefully) was able to cancel my order. I hope that those of you who read this will do more research on Lorex than will find a lot of unhappy folks. I am happy that Lorex incompetence probably saved me from future frustration. I can only imagine what would happen if you had problems with their equipment.

Thank you for your feedback. We apologize for the inconvenience and difficulty you encountered. This is not the experience we would like you to have with Lorex.

Love my Lorex, ordered a 6 camera system and got 8 cameras, they were so clear and I could see twice as much as my old system I had to buy another one and for a second time I got 8 cameras when I ordered the 6 camera system. Only problem doesn't load automatically on my iPad, I have to load them one at a time. Tech support was great. Would definitely recommend Lorex. Still new to Lorex so I will update if any changes.

Ordered 720p system with 6 cameras and was upgraded to 1080p system with 4 1080p cameras and 4 720p cameras. Hardest part of installing a system like this is running the cables. When house was built, I pre-wired for security cameras which is one reason I choose this wired system over a wireless system. Since I received 8 cameras, I did need to run cables for two cameras. Initially I used the cables supplied with the cameras for these two runs but I found the image quality wasn't as good as with the six other cameras. I then pulled the same RG6 cable that I used for the pre-wire and my image quality improved. Overall, the image with the supplied cables was ok, but if you want the best image that the cameras can produce, I recommend running RG59 or RG6 cables. Installing and configuring the DVR itself was very easy. Just follow the directions provided. I also installed the Flir Cloud software on a Windows 7 and 10 computer as well as the Flir Cloud app on Android tablet. I am very pleased with the functionality of the software and all the devices.

I bought this camera after reading good reviews about Lorex. The cameras came well packaged and the quality looked good. Installation took some time but once you get it working, the pictures are very clear. My only negative about this is tech support, it took some time to get to a tech in the afternoon but in the morning it was the opposite. Maybe they get busier in the afternoon.

This is the first security system I've bought so I took some advise from my father-in-law. He did a lot of research and told me Lorex seemed to be the best around. After my own research I agreed and decided on a 720p 6 camera system that utilized BNC connections. Main reason for this was the price. Now that I have the system I wish I would have spent the extra money for the IP system that uses cat5 cables. Reason is the system only comes with 60 foot runs of cable. I was only able to use one of them & had to buy & make my own cables to spread 100+ feet in some cases. This is the reason for giving the system a 3 rating. So far the cameras seem to be of great quality (only a couple are up so far) & the pictures are nice.

The system so far is working well. It has been a short run time so far but all is good. I hope today to try and get on line and bring up the phones and lap tops. The view of the camera's are very good even at night, I will follow up with the network config in the near future. Do need to watch out when installing the cable DONT be to rough on them i will more than likely run my own RG59 just to be safe. If it wasn't for the cable i would give it a 5.

Ordered the 6 camera system and they shipped me the 8 camera system so before I opened the box things were already going well. Opened the box and everything was working so started the install. It takes a bit of time to run the cables but installed all 5 cameras outside - in some pretty exposed locations. It doesn't mention this but I took the time to weatherproof the power and BNC connections at the camera as they were exposed to the weather (going on 3 weeks sun/rain/wind and no problems). Cameras connected to the DVR immediately. Definitely takes a bit of time to get the all the settings correct. Record and playback work great, only complaint is no pause button for playback, at least none that I can find. Set up the FLIR Cloud and connected with the app for remote viewing. This was the thing I read people were having issues with but using the bar code on the top of the DVR and my phone as a reader it was simple, literally took 3 minutes. I did have a bit of trouble getting the email alerts to work. Directions in the manual aren't that great but after a call to customer support and about 15 minutes I was good to go. The DVR fan is a bit loud, so just take that into consideration when installing. Picture quality on the cameras is as advertised, very good 720P quality. Night vision is ok, my cameras are in some pretty dark areas so not much to see unless my motion lights turn on but even night vision scopes need some light to work. Overall I am pleased so far. Still getting used to the app and tweaking settings but I would say it's a good product for the money and would purchase again.

cameras seem very good, but the cables & power supply leads are basically junk, out of 8 cables 3 were non functional due to internal short circuits or open circuits in the cable ends, the power supply couldn't function due to a short circuit in one of the multi supply ends. it was only after tedious & laborious work that I was able to get all the cameras to function by testing each cable for continuity & re-doing the cable ends. To the credit of Lorex, the replacement cables are in transit to me. with regard to the DVR the enotable deficiency is no evident way to prevent non connected cameras from being included in the rotation sequence; who needs to see blank spaces in the view

I have wasted money on no-brand DVR systems and self-taught myself many things about the hard way to operate them. I finally decided to implement a brand-name unit, and bought the 720p Lorex 6 Channel System. It's been online about a month, and I have been quite impressed with the unit so far. Longevity remains to be seen (primarily the cameras) but that is true of any system. That aside, I would like to note that the network / setup has been BY FAR the simplest, most intuitive and well documented system implementation / setup I've ever seen. Additionally, the free Cloud App is outstanding. Excellent features, totally painless setup, and very user-friendly. Even on 4G, the cameras update and scroll live images very smoothly. The app is slightly 'buggy' but considering the wide range of user options and ease of use, I can easily overlook the rare "app has stopped working" message (very rare) Overall, I give 5 out 5 stars, and I'm very pleased with my purchase. I have encouraged a few other friends to purchase the same unit based on my recommendation, and they too are very pleased with the system.

My 2nd Lorex system and the wired installation was no problem. Just plug and play with the DVR. Make sure you lay out your cables first because only one end goes to the camera and one to the DVR. Don't try to reverse them. You will need to download the manual and print it to learn all the features. GUI not that great. I don't have it connected to the FLIR Cloud app yet so I cannot comment on that. Quite pleased with the system over all though.

I purchased 6HD cameras to enhance the security at my new home. This product arrived on time, with clear instructions, and simple installation (my brother and I installed them ourselves). Our home is 4 bedrooms and has an open floor plan, and we had cameras on all 4 main corners of the house, so we had just enough cable to install all of the cameras. The quality is great, even at night, and I love that the screen turns red whenever it detects movement (at least it does on my TV). Once I received my security surveillance system, my friend and I installed the LHV1000 HD Series flawlessly. Upon completed we had no trouble viewing all cameras on my big screen TV. I was able to set up the system on my phone with no problem and then my desktop. Although I had a minor issue with setting up the desktop, it was totally due to a mistake on my part with the password but customer service helped me to correct it. I have done everything suggested, port forwarded and set up my router. The instructions are bad for this. The Flir Cloud app hasn't worked either. Customer support closed a ticket and I couldn't see the response so I created another and we will see. After much time spent researching the Camera systems out there, I decided to Buy the Lorex LHV1000 system. Installation was relatively Easy, as was the setup procedure. The part that shines in the system is the Clarity of the 720P cameras...WOW.. Nothing like being able to actually see and make out details with these fine little units... The night vision works great in the shop and outside...the second most outstanding feature is the FLIR setup so that you can view the system on your Iphone or Android.....easy simple and quite clear.....Thank You !!! The clarity of the 720P cameras are amazing, and work perfect in rain, and so far -5 degree weather. The night vision is also as stated in their description flawless. The ease of setting schedules and motion sensitivity are great. The ability to also have the FLIR App for Iphone,Ipad exc send motion vids or pics when the system detects motion and you are at work or away is piece of mind to be able to see and know what is happening at home. I wanted to upgrade my existing Vantage model to this new LVH HD. I was able to simple swap out the old cameras with the new HD cameras using the existing BNC cables. However, the old cameras were not compatible AND my one wireless camera wasn't either. Alot on money was spent on the wireless, so I wasn't happy having to dig a line from the house to the garage in order to have a camera. But the image with the HD is far better than the old, and the FLIR app had me setup in seconds. I can view my house anywhere, anytime. Also, if you want a manual, you have to download the pdf file and print out 150 plus pages yourself. One major complaint is its mounting base is plastic and hard to position. Hope this plastic can handle the minus 30 Celsius and colder weather we normally get here. With its notches, it only has certain positions it can be placed in, and then difficult to tighten using the screw. My old Vantage was metal with wing-nuts on a fully positional ball mount base..

I have purchased this system to replace my Q-see system and I am using the existing bnc/power cables. The previous system had 650 TV lines or resolution and this system produces a much better picture resolution. The colors are vibrant and very crisp. You can actually recognize people now. Overall the system has been performing pretty good we'll see how it holds up in time so far I've had for only a few days. The only thing that I noticed is that in very low light condition some cameras seem to be noisy.

I had to upgrade my old system to something higher quality. I had someone run over my mailbox and with my old system I could not make out the license tag. I did a lot of research and the Lorex system was the best bang for the buck. This system makes it simple to change over to HD as you just change out each camera and the DVR unit. Remote view could not be easier with the FILR setup. HD quality is amazing as I can now see every detail, including a license tag.

If you are like me you have been trying to figure out the best system for the money. I spent hours researching cameras, quality, nvr vs dvr, and Poe vs rg59 connection. This system is by far the best value I found. Camera quality is great, connection and set up is very user friendly. I had access to an attic to run the wires which is why I stayed away from wireless. One thing I didn't realize was I needed an Ethernet port connection to a router. My router is in my basement. I didn't have any easy way to connect my dvr. I decided to use a wireless extender to copy my signal and plug the dvr into the bridge I created. Not included. Works perfectly!!! The flir app is good but a little difficult when not on the same network as the dvr. However, I think I have figured it out. I have a setting while on the network with the same IP address and one while I am away from the house. I am extremely satisfied with the purchase. I have tried to set up the ddns and as of now it still doesn't work. I have not called for help yet. If I can't figure it out i will call lorex. Save yourself hours of research and buy it. Also spend some time researching an NVR. This may have prevented the bridge I had to create.

I had a cheap unit prior to this that had extremely poor resolution. I recently had my car window broken and the video was too poor for police to use. After browsing I found this unit at Costco's website. Its amazing how clear it is. Its a pain to run the wires, but since I already had 4 ran, I only needed 2 more and the hdmi cable. The Flir was a breeze, I used a wireless ethernet box originally for my Xbox and it hooked up flawlessly. When accessing the app abroad, there is maybe a 3-4 second delay and if on your own wifi there is zero delay (less than one second). I highly recommend this unit for the sub $600 price; I could not be happier. Customer service is real, and nice.

The camera clarity is great. It is my first system so take that for what it is. The interface is easy to use. Flir cloud is easy to setup with my device. Lost a star because the connection is hit or miss. Sometimes I try to connect and it says timed out. Im sure its an app thing not a system issue though. Overall even if I cant check the app Reviewing old footage is great. The motion indicator on saved video makes it very easy.

I bought this product off the shelf at Costco after doing some research and liking what I was reading. I am pleased with the purchase and would rate this product with 5 stars, but I am having issues/problems with a single camera only 4 days after purchase. If the support team comes through, then I will be updating this review with more stars.

The initial install was easy and the setup was fairly straight forward. The box did not have the full manual in it, only the quick install pictures. However, the full manual in PDF is available in the download section on the website. I highly recommend getting this PDF and using it. The quick install papers got me up and running, but the manual made setting up the LAN and external monitoring easier as well as explaining some of the settings on the menu. The QR code setup worked for my android tablet, but not the Iphones. I ended up using the IP to identify the system and setup the Iphones. I am using almost all of the features available and have the system setup for viewing from multiple sources. The only thing that would have made this easier is if the system had WiFi capability. Can only be LAN setup with hardwire CAT5 to the hub. The LAN setup was actually very easy once I had the cable run.

The menu and user interface takes some getting used too. The usage of right and left clicks didn?t make sense at first, but once I started using it, became easier. The user interface menus look and navigation could use a little work and be more GUI friendly, but they are functional and once I realized where to look for things it became easier to locate items. The playback menu is based on time and could use a slider to move across the video, but the recordings are all there and can be transferred as needed using the USB.

Having used a 700TVL system, this camera image quality and record quality are incredible. The night vision is much better and doesn?t white out like other systems I have seen.

I am having a problem with one of the cameras not staying in night vision mode. I have submitted a ticket and will wait for a response. As long as the customer support helps with that issue, then I will have no complaints about this system.

At this point, I would recommend this system, even with the one camera issue. For the price, the quality of picture can?t be beat.

Pros: high resolution cameras night vision capable, 1 tb dvr records about 4 1/2 days x 8 hd cameras, footage remotely accessible, dvr is easy to use with motion designators

Cons: none identified as of yet

Model Number: LHD818

"Bought this product at Costco after one of my neighbors was burglarized. After I installed it, I realized that if I'd had it when it happened, I would have been able to read the license plate four houses down the alley. The picture is that sharp.

The package is pretty complete, if you don't have a long run between a camera and the DVR. I have a long, narrow home, so I had to order a 120 ft cable for the front street camera to reach the DVR, but the 60 ft cables were sufficient for the rest of the house, inside and out.

HD picture quality is outstanding, including night vision acuity. The DVR software is very user friendly, and with a little playing around, is easy to navigate.

With 8 HD cameras, the 1 TB DVR is good for about 4 1/2 days, and if there is an incident that needs to be reviewed, the motion sensor designator in the footage makes it easy to find and download (no sitting through hours of footage to find what you're looking for). The fast and slow motion features make it even quicker to find what you're looking for.

The system is remotely accessible though the internet, so you can monitor and/or download footage as necessary if you are away from home.

Wish I had had this installed when my neighbor was burlarized. It would have assisted the local law enforcement in determining vehicle traffic and identification, number and description of perpetrators (and quite possibly identities), and given them leads on resolving the case and recovering their possessions."

I just picked up the LHD818 a day ago. At first I was blown away by the size of the cameras and the weight of each one. The plastic feel did not seem as solid but I am sure its been tested to be sturdy. Hardware setup was a breeze and upon boot, I noticed the system came up right away. The first few cameras stood out and started to notice some imperfections on each camera. Some cameras were blurry and some sharp. I noticed one camera was completely out of focus and camera lens was probably no adjusted. I wrote an email to tech support and hopefully get an answer on the repair. The software seems to have limitations such as only being able to see 4 channels on playback at once. All 8 could not be pulled up at once. FFWD and RWD is not fast to process. Digital Zoom is a bit difficult to use. Not yet tested the mobile or remote access. It's terrible that no other camera can be connected to this DVR as well as the 720P camera cannot be connected to another DVR. So the system is completely proprietary. Scary if something were to fail especially with a 1yr MFG warranty. Today I received an email indicating if I write a review I can recieve a 2nd yr FREE warranty which is a plus. Still they need to correct the bugs mentioned including the limited hardware replacements. I looked up the 720P cameras and I see them sold in pairs but no price. I found them on ebay for $238 for 4 and $89 for 1. Overall with a day and 1/2 of playing with it I am impressed with the quality, playback, easy setup, small/lightweight cameras and its distance is fairly good. Night mode will be tested shortly. So far if there are any lights around it seems to make areas darker in non-illuminated areas. I will need to test placement.

I purchased this system from our local store after reading a lot about the new 720p over analog cameras and the bang for buck! I found the installation of the system (other than crawling around in my attic) to be extremely simple. Lorex has taken the guess work out of connecting to your system remotely and "even a caveman can do it". We have ours connected via our Android phones, our iPads and even from our home PC. We installed the system in a secure closet and rarely even login at the dvr, almost always remotely. If I was able to make one change it would be the option to add a second hdd. Not just for more recording time, but if one failed, it would be nice to have a backup hdd just incase.

Picked this up from Costco. Setup was easy. The BNC connections are difficult to connect due to not enough spacing between the plugs. Camera resolution is very good. I like the zoom capability. Haven't had it long but I think it is a keeper. The FLIR download for the Mac doesn't work and there is no documentation on the website. I called and was informed that I need to upgrade my OS to download and extract the program. Never had any issue downloading and extracting programs even if it won't execute. Website needs to provide Mac compatibility and instructions.

I purchased this system from local store after I saw that system demo in the store . I am amazed with the product and camera resolution. It is very easy to set it up and view local LAN and over internet WAN. I have configured to access it over LAn/WAN/iPhone app and they all worked great. I strongly recommend this product to anyone, as a matter fact lots of my neighbor want to buy this system after I installed and show it to them. I had slight issue with WAN setup and called Lorex tech support which is very knowedgable and assisted me since my work had firewall blocking the port preventing WAN connectivity but I had alternate way to access from my work PC.

System works as advertised. Video images are very good and many more features than expected. Most important is the service which earns 5 stars for their 7 days coverage and a very patient staff to get me initially setup. Could not get my TV monitors connected but was flawless with a PC monitor. Internet access to iPad was easy to set up and will be a great tool for remote viewing. Relatively new product so there might be some hidden glitches but not to concerned because of the good support. My system is up and running.
