Bought this to replace an older unit from Sony. Overall I was impressed and happy with this lorex unit because it is easy to install and setup. Cameras are small and extremely light. Dvr is compact. Clarity of pictures are good. App for remote viewing is good and easy to setup.
DVR does humm all the time. Cameras can pick up decent image up to 35 ft in darkness. Refresh rate of frames is slower so image can look choppy

Bought this system to protect my house/family. The install was super easy, cams came with plenty of cable, and initial setup was easy. I would definitely recommend this system to anyone looking for an affordable system. Now I can watch my house from anywhere as long as I have internet connectivity and the picture, night or day, is awesome. Very satisfied with this purchase.

I recently purchased my Lorex surveillance cameras. Very easy to install. Still learning how everything works. I did have an issue with one camera not working and one cable when hooked up made my screen jumpy. I created a ticket and a William called me. William was very helpful. Lorex will be sending me a new camera and a new cable. I do like the clarity of the picture, plus the distance/area it covers. Once I learn how everything works, I will like the surveillance setup even better than what I do now! I would recommend this product.

Prompt shipping and delivery. I was replacing a current system because my DVR quit working properly. I thought I would just hook up the DVR and change the cameras later. That part worked easily. The set up of 2 Iphones and 1 Ipad took about 15 min. The hookup of 2 computers took 2.5 hr total working with the support team. That included waiting over 1hr on hold. Then I hit some thing when fine tuning the cameras and one camera started blinking constantly. Called back to tech support, another 2.5 hr with 2 of those one hold.
Then I thought, since I had a little free time I would change out the cameras since I didn't have to run new cable. The new cameras pigtail was about 8 in or so shorter that the old cameras (lorex 960's) which caused a little problem in having to extend the already mounted cables a little further. The biggest problem was the mounting bracket that was not long enough to allow the new cameras to be mounted in the same place as 2 of the old cameras making it very hard to mount under the roof overhang. The only way was to mount on the side of the house (not real ideal for the location and coverage). Pics are great and everything seems to be working fine.

Bought this product on the 10th of September and finally received it on the 29th. Quite a long wait for the product but it's here, installed this past weekend and can't believe the quality of the pictures day time and night time. Dvr set up was different, but got it all figured out. Honestly still learning about its features. I would definitely recommend this product. Kinda wish I would have got the year cameras instead. Great product for the price.

I just bought this 720p NVR not too long ago.

I have set up a couple of wired cameras and the video quality is good. Maybe not enough for power users, but for a basic home system, good enough.

The cameras are made of lightweight plastic. Lorex claims they are rated for all temperatures, so I trust them. Mounting was very simple. Use a 3/4" drill bit for the cable through-hole and then three small deck screws (for wood) or self-tapping (for metal or concrete) screws. I wouldn't use the screws Lorex provides, unless it's a drywall installation. Just remember to use the screws and bits for the material you are mounting onto!

Remember to test the cameras before drilling! Use your Android or Apple smartphone and scan the QR code, it's amazing, how much faster it is to get the smartphone linked, than a laptop/desktop PC!

CONS: The field of view could be wider for my site, and the NVR is tricky to set up without resorting to a local monitor. There are several versions of Lorex software with the same name that just won't work with this. Remember to only use the links on the support page from your personal order view on the Lorex site! I still can't figure out how to record and email on motion... that's why I bought this... It's not going to hold your hand, but it's pretty simple to get it connected.

PROS: Amazing value, IP setup worked over a remote client router (on my wifi network) in a completely different subnet. That's cool, as I can 'see' the NVR on a different local network from my main network. Fairly easy physical setup. Wired cameras are the way to go :)

Wish I could link my other Lorex indoor WIFI IP cameras to this admin console...

All in all, a good product.

This product was very simple to get working. From the time I received it to set up was about 40 minutes. It was even easy to navigate through the system. I would highly recommend this product, easy set up, clear picture and at a good price!!
The only issue was setting up the cloud. I put a ticket in and I still have not heard back from customer support :(

We love our new Lorex system! The image and video quality is amazing. It was easy to install and get up and going. Its easy to access on our computers within the store. The quality is truly our favorite thing. We are small gift store, with the need to have video surveillance as a precaution to monitor our property, and staff that work late evenings. We wanted to be able to have a camera system, in the event that we really needed it. I did a ton of research, to find the best product. We believe that Lorex is the best of all the research we have done. The only thing we have not got up and going is our DDNS. Apparently our router is blocking it from functioning. But we will get that figured out sometime soon.

Our family was looking for a security system to provide basic coverage for the front and rear of the home. The LHD44 was on sale on the Lorex site and we ordered it online. It came via UPS Ground.

The system provides 60 ft. cables, four cameras, DVR with 1TB drive, two power adapters, a mouse, and surprisingly an HDMI cable. The cables are basic in terms of thickness (gauge) and they could be fished through a 3/4" diameter metal conduit. The cameras can be manually panned, tilted, and swiveled with three separate adjustment screws.

The DVR boots up quickly begins recording quickly. The cameras themselves are lightweight and seem to be water resistant. The video quality is good at daytime and reasonable at night. The IR LEDs illuminate 15-30 ft. depending on the angle.

As with most systems, the software is key. The FLIR Cloud app for iOS and PC are up to date and load reliably. Sometimes, the network connection is spotty and requires the app to be reloaded for the connection to be reestablished.

Overall, this kit is affordably priced and the quality is decent. Would recommend as a good starter kit.

Picture quality is fantastic. the image and playback works great.
I did have an issue with the unit within the 1st 8 months of use.
took almost 2 hours on the phone to get them to RMA the unit (1.5 on hold and .5 to get the RMA done).
Outside of that, I am loving the product. Hoping durability is not an issue and that it is a one time thing.

Got this system in early August. Purchased the wired over the wireless due to cost. I knew that it would be a longer ordeal with the installation and setup. Took about 6 hours to complete which is what I had expected for a 4 camera install. Everything went smoothly. Did need to call technical support to get FLIR to work on my Android and was a bit concerned based on other reviews that stated connection issues. My issue was not being able to access my cameras away from the house. As it turned out my internet upload speed was not fast enough to support the camera feeds. Tech support determined this quickly by running a speed test. The work around (on the Android app) was to change REGISTER MODE from "Device ID" to "IP/Domain" and use the public IP address that leaves the house not the device IP address that is assigned to the device. Needed to do some tweaking on the email notifications but this was expected. Am very pleased with the entire setup.

I was very happy to pick up this excellent system for such a good price. Sure, you can buy cheap systems on Amazon or eBay all day but not with this quality. These HD cameras have a very good picture and the system just works when you hook it up and turn it on. I would recommend this as an economical system where you don't want to spend a fortune but you still want to protect your property. It's a good buy!

I made an order for my company for (4-Camera Security System with 500GB Digital Video Recorder and 720p Resolution) which was advertised for $199 + $29 for three day shipping. I wanted it shipped to our office so i could install the cameras before traveling out of state only for me to call them 2 days after the order was made and now they wanted me to send them our company credit card and ID for verification....

I waited for over 1:30 minutes to get customer care over the phone.

Order No.

I ordered 4 of these systems for 4 different homes. It all works as expected. Considering it is analog, it is better than expected. The cameras have superb day vision. The night vision is good for ID'ing faces up to about 30 feet. Many, Many configurations and personalized features in the DVR. The push notification is the icing on the cake. I would recommend the HD720p for anyone who is covering areas the size of a smaller yard, a 50' driveway or 2 car garage. Any bigger area than that, and you'll want the HD1080p system that Lorex offers.

I purchased this 720p, 4 camera DVR system for my new house. The picture quality of the cameras are much better than I expected - very sharp and detailed. In the daylight the colors are good too.

DVR has been working nicely, and once set up, the cloud app on iPhone works pretty well - I can monitor the cameras from work any time, which is nice.

Location: San Diego, CA

I've had the system up and running for a few days and so far so good. Even though there are a few things Lorex could improve upon, overall the product strengths vastly outweigh the downsides. Based on a week of operation:

1. Getting everything up and running is very easy if you are a person that enjoys DIY projects and has intermediate tech savvy. I have only installed two cameras so far, but to take care of this in three hours. The hardest parts of the installation have nothing to do with the product (measuring, looking for ideal mounting points, and crawling in the attic with cables).
2. Connecting the camera cables, power, network, tv, and mouse immediately results in the DVR turning on, requesting a firmware update, and then working properly. System navigation on the DVR is relatively easy once you learn what is under each sub menu. I recommend using the PC software to remote in for maintenance once you have everything up and running.
3. Picture quality is what you would expect from 720p. Good color and clarity. Nightvision works great too. I have one camera in a low light area and one that may benefit from a streetlight and both look fine at night.
4. Lots of options and customization. Motion detection, emails with snapshots, remote viewing over the internet, phone/tablet app control, etc. Some of these aren't the easiest to get up and running, but they do work well

Cons/Improvement Opportunities:
1. The instructions get you up and running quickly, but lack the detail to handle some of the advanced features that everyone should use (such as DDNS for remote viewing).
2. The motion detection field doesn't seem to be consistent on all devices. If I set it up on the phone and then check it out on the PC software the region doesn't match. This leads to tons of false positive push notices and alert emails. It's a work in progress for me, but I suspect I should just set the field up on the DVR itself only.
3. The product software is not in the Lorex Support section! You have to find it at the bottom of the product page in the store. Scary if the product is ever delisted! Download a copy right away and save it somewhere!
4. Camera mounting is a bit tedious. There are two screws and a swivel ring that allow you to manipulate the camera angle. The ring, and the screw that controls the 'elbow' of the camera work well, but the head pivoting screw doesn't make great contact with the round part of the head of the camera. I think you can only get a 10-20 degree pivot from it so you'll need to use the elbow and swivel if you have to tilt the camera further. This leads to a less than 'straight' camera shot, but you aren't trying to film a movie!

I can't remove a star for the cons because at the end of the day the system delivers on all that it promises. This is my first security camera experience and I am glad I went with this product. It would be difficult to find a better price to benefit system out there!

You know what is nasty about not having a security system? It only comes as a great thing to buy after something happened. When I have no proof of facts about accidents that takes place at my property, the situation frustrates me. What fun is that kind of position? I will answer that: NO FUN AT ALL. After all, that is so great to get all this offers from Lorex.

We bought the LHD44 - 4 Port DVR system that came with 4 high definition cameras, and got the deal of a lifetime. Skeptical at first over the price that we were going to be spending we weren't sure how the quality was going to be. Installation was simple and plug-and-play out-of-the-box. As soon as the DVR was plugged in and software upgraded, the clarity of the cameras came through and the shocking. Each camera records in 720 high definition, in the detail that I am able to see within my shop day or night is outstanding. I have confidence in the system that I can be at the store looking at the feed in case I'm not right up front comma or if I leave the location by any means and feel like checking to see what's going on around there I've never had a problem. I would highly recommend a Lorex system especially when it comes to the high-definition camera systems, and within 6 months we will be upgrading to an 8 Port DVR, and happily taking this system home so that I can then monitor my house while I'm working. I'm also excited when I do upgrade to get the new cameras with a built-in audio and upgrade from 720 HD to a full 1080. I purchased the 3-year warranty for $19.99 just got a piece of mind and for the price would be silly not to. It's easy to connect two, the picture quality is great, easy installation absolutely no problems highly recommend this system.

This is an excellent product. I just finished the installation today on my system and I am very satisfied. System was easy to setup. The only difficulty I experienced was due to my choice of camera locations and that I wanted to utilize my living room HD TV for screening and mouse control. Controller was mounted in an adjacent room and to extend the video and mouse control I installed a 15’ HDMI and a 15’ USB cable with adapters and wall plate for approx $100. I just turned 70 last month, so for anyone of any age and or a limited budget this system is perfect.

Still learning the software for the viewer but so far everything works well. Installation wasn't too bad, cameras have good resolution, everything works as advertised. Only quibble is that the DVR playback limits the number of events you can have on the screen. To see later events you have to go to the bottom of the list and play until the next list comes up, etc. etc. If you have a large number of recorded events can be a pain.

The system was very easy to set up, take it out of the box, plug it in and it's working. Install wasn't too bad, spending time in the attic is not much fun but pretty much a necessity depending on your set up. The app works pretty good, uses a lot of battery but gets you what you want to see and you can change configuration of many items on your system. Night vision is good, day vision is great, not quite HD level if you ask me but very clear. Still playing around with fine tuning the settings on motion detection but they work. I would definitely recommend this product, giving 5 stars.

This DVR and Cameras are good, they are build of good quality does not feel so cheap material, The image is clear day and night, the only concern is the storage, since they are 720P seems like 500 GB or 1TB is not enough in one week you will have full hard drive. Setup is smooth, the other complain i have is that you can not see them over the web in your browser or another programs unless you have flir cloud, i have other systems that let me see the cameras from firefox, or IExplorer, or chrome. They ask about to create ddns but it gives you error anytime you want to create one.

The system works very well. It is very nice to have 60ft long cables which come with the product. The installation didnt take long just like plug and play. I also like the way they design to scheldule recording for cameras - very obvious and easy.
Great product. I would definitely recommend this to my friends. I actually did before writing this.

This is a qreat system for the money. easy install and linked to flir cloud to watch on any phone, tablet or any computer.must use internet explorer just follow directions.set camera location temporary before running wires.make sure you have long enough wires.I brought longer wires for 1 camera.the hardest part was running wires.great picture but if you want to be able to zoom in and see a face or car plate then a better set of cameras and better resolution system is needed ,maybe an ip system with 1080 or better.

Model LHD44. Easy setup straight from the box. Cameras show vivid colors with the 720p. Just run the wires for the cameras hook everything together and power it up. Cant get any easier. Love the night vision picks up everything even in low to no light in the background. The setup for tablet and phone just as easy. Download the Flir app. Scan the bar code and you are able to view from anywhere. I would recommend this to all my friends. Will keep an eye on these guys in the future for any new deals. Love it :)

The DVR and cameras are nicely functional and offer a clear image during the day and at night. The cables are slightly short for my home, considering the placement of the DVR and the distance to go across the basement ceiling and up through the first floor walls - longer cables were required.

I first received my package with the cameras but without the power converter/adapter for them, but a quick customer service inquiry via the phone and some support from the website and documentation which says it should be included, I received my power supply within a few additional days.

The Flir app was incredibly easy to set up, particularly with the QR code for quick setup. I could not get the Lorex website for my cameras feed to function though, so I think I'm purely going to be remotely viewing on a phone, which isn't so bad, nor all that unrealistic for me anyway.

Lastly, although perhaps most noteworthy for me, is that this DVR sounds like a small toy helicopter constantly trying to take off. It's not quite, by my standards, and it would be noticeable were this in a room with a TV because it would provide a constant fan noise soundtrack to your movies. I've opted to place this in the basement by my breaker box and omit the monitor entirely in lieu of the app. This keeps the noise where it won't bother my daily activities. Also make sure you have a reliable internet connection for this, because it beeps VERY loudly when it loses internet, and your dogs will hate you for it.

Great product all around, just some quirks which are easily accepted or remedied.

We received the Lorex system quickly and unpacked it easily. Each component was packed safely and neatly.

Installation was quick. The wires were just long enough to reach to each of the places we installed the cameras. We purchased metal screws to install into the soffit. Not sure if that was necessary but they worked fine, as did the included wood screws for our wood installation.

The picture is crystal clear in day and night. Going with the 720p resolution was a good choice.

Switching between functions on the DVR isn't very intuitive, as the symbols don't tell me exactly what they refer to. The mobile app was quick to install and setup and works well.

This system was installed just the other day. So far the system is running great. Need to learn how to use the system and navigate the menus. Will need to download the manual as one does not come with the package.

The setup is quick and easy. The length of the wires were perfect for our home; which we were able to run through the attic and walls.

Purchased a 23inch monitor to view the video feeds from the 4 cameras and can easily see the video from the living room (about 10-15 feet away).

S far very satisfied with the system.

I bought this DVR unit and 3 wireless cams. Started with setting up the 3 wireless cams and initial setups and performance were great. However, after a few hours, other devices on my network would get "kicked off" my network and not re-connect. As soon as I unplugged the Lorex cams, the other devices would re-connect immediately. I then tried the DVR with the wireless cams disconnected. Same thing happened, after a few hours, random devices on my network would not connect. I have since tried another brand of wireless camera and have had no network issues. I am returning all of the Lorex cams as I don't feel like sitting on the phone to get it up and running. I requested the RMA number three days ago and still waiting...I will rate the cameras at 2 stars because the image quality is good and setup was easy, but kept killing my network.

Thank you for your feedback. We're sorry to hear you are not satisfied with your system.

I bought my first Lorex system four years ago. It came with (4) 420 TVL cameras and 500 GB DVR. The system was perfect for a single story home and it was easy to install and connect for mobile viewing. We since have moved to a two-story house and when Black Friday came around I couldn't pass up the 4-Camera Security System with 500GB Digital Video Recorder and 720p Resolution. With eight cameras we now have total coverage and little more sense of security. The cameras were easy to install and the internet setup was amazingly easy with the QR code. There are a lot more bells and whistles with the 720p system. Very satisfied with this product and would recommend it to family and friends.

It's been some time since I bought my first LOREX security camera, a small single camera unit (Model # MC6183W) to monitor my parking lot. It worked well for many years but Lorex offered their LHD44, the 4 camera unit, at an irresistible holiday price so I jumped on it. This model substantially upgrades my prior cam and has the added DVR to record all activities. Set up couldn't be easier as I did it without reading the "quick start" info that came with the unit. The 720p resolution is crisp and sharp and it sure is useful to review previously recorded activity should the need arise. Had a little trouble setting up the remote viewing features on my phone and tablet but the friendly customer SVC rep stepped me thru that. This is a must-have for home and business security. 5*****

Ordered Cyber Monday. Received on Tuesday. Missing all 4 BNC cables. I spent a total of 2 hours ON HOLD, Tuesday waiting to speak with someone only to get transferred shortly after where i spent another hour on hold. I was told my claim would be escalated and my cables would ship out immediately, and I would receive an email conformation of this. Its now Thursday, I've heard nothing from them, so i call again. 45 minutes on hold finally talk to someone and they tell me nothing has shipped yet, but when it does it should take 5 more business days to arrive. "This is really putting me in a bind" was my response. The customer service offers to put me through to her manager. I thank her and say yes please. I have now been on hold for another 1 hour 17 minutes and counting. This is literally worse than having to call or wait at the DMV.

Thank you for your feedback. We apologize for the difficulty and any inconvenience you may have experienced. Our customer service team was happy to resolve this as you requested.

Cons: Camera Mount is not 360degree rotatable, Enclosure is plastic and wondering if it can last the sun heat in summer.

Android Apps crashed many times. The recording on the phone is not in mp4 format but series of pictures. Very unstable.

DDNS: limited to only Lorex but not DYNDNS domain or other selection.

Backup format: Not mp4 format.

I LOVE THESE CAMERAS! They are easy to install and have great software to accompany them. As long as you read the instructions and use the resources available on the website (including some helpful youtube videos) you should be mostly fine. I did have a little trouble with the DDNS and port forwarding, but that has been a pain on every camera I've ever owned. Not to mention Lorex has some quite helpful software that may be able to actually auto setup port forwarding for your router, which is by far the most difficult part. As long as you know basic information about your router (or how to look it up if you don') then the setup is fairly easy. The playback software is great as well as the android app. The motion detection also works quite well. I have two outside and two inside and they are all working wonderfully. the indoor ones are using the standard 60ft cables while I got two 120ft in-wall rated cables to run to the ones outside. Keep in mind it is advised that you keep the cameras in a covered area outdoors, as well as protect the cable connection (they sell a variety of housings with which to do this online).

Bottom line, these are great cameras. I am very happy and will buy my future DVRs and cameras from Lorex.

Bought at Costco. Good value for the price. Installation at my cottage fairly simple and well documented in the supplied literature. HD picture quality very good. For a first time owner/installer of a camera security system like myself, download of manual is a must and is quite easy to follow step-by-step. Found one bug so far. When zoom is activated in the camera toolbar, you do not have access to the main menu with the left click of the mouse. Due to my inexperience, Record on Motion detection was (still is) the most difficult to adjust and requires several runs of sensitivity/threshold adjustments in the (up to 4) regions settings for each camera. Situation probably applies to any system that you buy. Flies/moths passing in front of cameras generate numerous motion recording events. Maybe Lorex could offer some basic tutorial help which could improve trial & error adjustment time. Lastly, quite impressed with the system overall and I can’t wait to see the performance of the cameras at -30 deg this winter which is the main reason I purchased this system.

Bought at sams . The price was very reasonable for a 4 camera wireless. hookup was easy and the immediate wireless images are great. The stratus was a little confusing for lack of understanding by a true non-techy type. I just left wireless IPs on the tablets and used Internet IPs on the phones. All is working well and the night vision is above par.

Really pleased with the system. The cameras have very good resolution and range and the DVR is adequate for our home system. The only thing that I wished was included in the package is a printed user manual rather than having to go on line for the information. Early in the set-up I needed to call into the help center and I got through quickly, talked to a person that I could understand and got a suggestion to fix my problem (camera stuck on night vision during the day) with in 5 minutes of calling and it fixed my issue.

I Purchased the kit and so far am very happy with it. The night vision is better than expected, and day vision is very clear. The cameras have a wide angle, so they don't pick up a lot of detail from far away, but that wasn't a surprise. I did have one camera's night vision stop working, but I called Costco's concierge service, who patched me through to a Lorex rep and helped me file a warranty claim. I shipped the camera back and got a new one a week or so later.

I ordered this product through I read a number of the reviews written by other purchasers and learned from those reviews so that I was better prepared for the installation. I purchased a relatively inexpensive flat screen monitor and power strip. I purchased two 200 foot cables for locations that required a cable length greater then the 60 length that comes with the cameras. I also purchased 150 feet of F6 Techflex split sleeving to wrap the two cables that have extended run length. The install went exactly as planned with no hiccups. The image quality is outstanding and the set up on an iPhone, iPad, and MacBook was easy and works without flaw so far. I highly recommend this product.

I purchased this kit from Microcenter. Better resolution than I've seen in the past on Analog cameras. DVR seems very stable and works great. The web interface could use some updating (requires a browser plugin to work, and doesn't like to work unless I use it in Internet Explorer), but still seems better than the other products around this price range that I've tried. The only issue I've had is that one of the camera's in the kit seems to be having night vision issues (works some nights, not others). I have contacted warranty support and so far they have been very helpful. I'm giving this system a 4 out of 5 stars, mainly because of the somewhat lacking browser interface for the cameras. Other than that it's great!

I bought 2 of this model, one for home and one for the office. I have them for 5 months now. Picture resolution is excellent but the 500GB is just way to samll for 720p resolution. Remote viewing from iPhone is quick but it isn't easy to setup. Forget about the default setup which relay video to some server and back to your phone. Use the IP/Domain instead of the Device ID which goes from the camera directly to your phone. You have to setup Lorex's DDNS (free) and your router. Once, it is setup, it works beautifully. The Device ID (default) which is easier to setup is actually a pain, keep having problem connecting to device. Don't bother within. Manual has instruction to setup everything. Read it carefully. Very happy once I set it up properly. P.S. There might be a bug in the current firmware. Only 1 of 4 camera showed video on remote viewing. Have to reset everything back to manufacture default before getting it to work again.

Video looks great. However, the software is not easy to setup. You need to read the manual carefully. For example, the password is only 6 characters . On the server, you can enter longer, it will truncate to 6 char. However, on the iPhone app, if you enter longer, it will not truncate and you will not be able to connect to the server. Took me a long time to figure it out why I could not connect. I rate it 4 star because of the price (got a discount when it first come out)

I brought this Lorex 4 camera system, LHV1000 720p to replace my old POE 960h. My old system, even tho it caught people trying to break into my car, didn't have a DVR and would stop recording from time to time. I would have to go out and climb up a ladder to reset the camera, not what I wanted for security. This camera system is much more reliable for recording. The price was right, so I purchased the system, hoping it would be better. What a difference in picture quality!!! It was easy to setup and I had it running in 15 minutes out of the box. The documentation on the PC software and the iphone app, in my case, is a bit sparse. The technical support though, makes up for it BIG TIME!!! That's what we all want is good tech support, not outsourced and you won't be disappointed with the people at Lorex!! Daytime picture is awesome and night vision is good, but better when my motion sensor light goes on. I can see much better, otherwise it's a little grainy compared to my 960h, but on my 960h, there are always lights on around the camera making it better to see. All in all I'm very happy with the cameras, I can view them remotely on my iphone and select clips to play back free, that my other camera company Logitech, charged me $80 a year for.... I can only hope that down the road there will be software and firmware updates, making this camera system better then it already is. For the money and features I'm happy and feel secure again, knowing that I can keep a watchful eye on my property and that's why I purchased this system to begin with.

I have an older Lorex D1 8 channel system which is pretty good. I needed something that would be better at facial recognition during the day and especially at night. The 720P system is much better than the old one, especially at night. Wider field of view too. The infrared works out to about 130 feet. With ambient lighting, you can see considerably further at night. The neighbors security lights and porch lights help out a lot as well as the infrared light from the other eight cameras on the old system. My system has been installed about 2 months and so far everything works great. Its easy to set up and use. Hardest part is running wires through the attic. I bought plywood and cut it to fit in the attic. Screwed it to the rafters so I would have a permanent route to the camera locations and not fall through the ceiling. Only negative about the system is the camera adjustment. You have to use a Phillips screwdriver for two of the adjustments. You must be careful not to over tighten the screws as the cameras are plastic. Plus, its kind of difficult to use both hands when your at 20-25 feet on a ladder. One to hold the camera and one to use the screwdriver. In the future I may upgrade to an 8 camera 720P to replace the old D1 system. I can use the D1 systems wiring with the analog 720P, which will make installation a lot faster and simple. Overall, especially for the price,I am happy with my new purchase!

This system turned out great. While I wish there were options to buy a 6 camera system, or more reasonably priced 8 channel/4 camera systems for later upgrade, this one has fit the bill for my family. Pros: Good camera quality - cameras have good focus in the center - the fisheye effect makes them a little blurry on the outer edges. A better camera would cost hundreds, so it is the price point I elected to stay with. Easy set up - my son and I figured out almost everything intuitively. The manual was there to help, but within a short time we had the system online working through its mouse and remote on a spare screen we have, working online via our home network to our desktop and laptop (using the FLIRcloud client), and on our smartphones (both android and ios.) While each set of hardware has a different application, they all set up and worked quickly and easily. Cons Each set of hardware has different software/applications. The are all intuitive so this is not much of a drawback, but I would love to see the native DVR software and the FLIRcloud client at least to be more the same.

I think that this is a good product for the $$$ but it's only been up for a week. So far so good. My only frustration was trying to download a manual from the website as the info provided with purchase is nothing more than a quick set up guide that leaves you with a ton of questions. After 2 days and a few calls and alot of onhold time I finally spoke with some one who could solve my issue. As it turned out I was entering my model number LHV1000 but the only way the website would recognize the model was if I put in LVH100. After doing that the LVH 1000 comes up onscreen and you can print the manual. It was explained by telling me that there are only 6 digits allowable for locating so when you put in the fourth 0 it messes everything up. Pretty stupid and frustrating for no unfixable reason. Good picture and lots of adjustments for each camera to get a balanced view and excellent night vision. I did have a small connection issue where the cameras plug-in on the back of the recorder as one camera went blank so I pushed and turned a little and got it to work again without a relapse. Hope that is the last time that happens but made me wonder how good the connection is.

Bought this at Costco. Very happy with the quality and features for the price. A very good value. Love the picture quality, and support for remote monitoring. Moderate difficulty to install (attic and ladder climbing and drilling). Had to buy longer HDMI (check out the great pricing on AmazonBasics cabling) and Ethernet cables. So far, I am a big fan! I am anxious to see how it holds up over time (operating 24/7 as it does).

I love love motion sensing .I love the HDD it is really it picks up everything ,the cameras ar plastic but the price was right I had meager funds .one of my cameras died after only a few days and my remote is not working after new batteries, the remote looks like it was used as some of. The lettering is not all there. I had motion sensing on all cameras and now it is only on two and I do not know how to put it back on four cameras as it was. It keeps reverting back to only one when it was four. Otherwise I enjoy it .

First system. Everything appeared to work out of the box. After easy install, system developed video glitches after a few hours of operation. Re-booting would clear things up for a while. The problem was intermittent so diagnosis was try something and wait. Costco and Lorex tech support were terrific even during the Holidays. A replacement box is on its way. The video quality exceeds my expectations. The system features are more than I will use at this time. It's a great starter system for the $$$. I see a bigger system coming in the future. I'll rate it 4 stars due to the glitch.

Have only had for 1 week but seem to work well. I am using Flir Cloud on Mac and also iPhone for viewing. Have had some trouble getting to work on monitor. Also having difficulty getting time set correctly on playback. Live time is correct.

quick start-up sheet made it easy to setup, but if you get confused call costco for help, I had to. the first thing I found out (no where in manuals) is that it only works with monitors with a screen size between19"-31". should of been on quick setup. I tried a 17" first then went to the 42" tv next and nothing. I called then and got great help on setup from costco. after that it was all downhill, oh, one other thing when you download FLIR CLOUD for pc (to view on your pc) make sure your resolution on your monitor (pc) is as small as you can get it or you won't be able to run (load) the software.ask me I know. the system works great! as of now I don't think I'll need a 1080p system.

This product was very good value and performs as expected. Download the system manual and the FLIR manual and follow the instructions. I am an inexperienced user, but was able to get the system up and running in a day. There is a small issue with email notifications to a gmail account that is not well documented, but the tech support over the phone was outstanding. I would definitely recommend this product.

Great product, easy to install and to set up... a bit more complicated when it comes to diving into all the options, but I appreciate the number of options to fit everyone's needs! Video quality is good day and night. Only downside was power supply for the camera that died and a cable connection that has a faulty intermittent connection - contacted support and hope to hear/see replacements soon! 4/5 stars only because of the early failures of the power supply and cable, for the price, this is a great entry-level system!

So far like it. It is easy to setup and install. I have a ranch still house cables were long enough for center house location.I am still experimenting with the system. The flir was easy to setup on android phone. I still have some minor questions about setting up on home pc. For the price it is good. At night I can see a person well objects look good too. I need to find out how to enhance the features of people. still experimenting all of this will come in time.

I am very pleased with the product quality so far. I only installed it locally, in one room, to test out the equipment and smart phone access. It was better than I had expected, with a few exceptions. I had trouble finding documentation on all the features. I refered to the FLIR Cloud App Help function, which didn't seem to address all the features. Still experimenting. I also had some problems logging in and getting a Login Time Out message. Overall, very satisfied.

Overall great system! Easy to install and plenty of cable length for 2100 sq feet house (dvr near center of house). The local viewing is painless. Use IE browser and download the Lorex browser plugin to control/set the dvr. Type in IP address. Then login w password. For remote viewing, it was very easy for Android phone. Slightly harder for remote viewing via PC. First, there's NOTHING you have to do on your router for remote viewing as FLIR allows you to view it using their gateway. Here's quick summary for both. For Android, it was very simple. Download the FLIR Cloud on Google Play store. Open app. Scan the code on the box using the FLIR app. It will then automatically configure the app to view the dvr. Done! That easy! With remote PC viewing, it was harder. Download the FLIR for PC program. Install and run. Then add device. Set the device ID. Make sure to open the FLIR app on your phone. It will show your unique device ID. Input that ID. Save. Click Live View. On right side pane, click on the device you just added. Video should come up within 30-60 seconds (this appears the average time it needs to ping, communicate with FLIR cloud and your dvr). While it's simple to install and connect remotely, it does have some advanced features that will overwhelm some consumers. Stay away from those advanced settings unless you know what your doing. Currently I have motion triggering every time a large object comes into the middle of the screen for the front door. When any object is detected, it flags/bookmarks the recording so I can find the event more easily. Also have it configured to generate a 5 second alarm (series of 1 beep every second for duration of 5 seconds). An internal dvr speaker actually beeps. This mini alarm tells me that someone is at the front door. You can do this for all cameras and set the sensitivity level as high/low as you want to compensate for wind, pets, etc... Pros: -great simple to install system -low price point -very easy remote viewing via Android (does not get more simple than this) -video quality is excellent at 720p -night time video is excellent Cons: -slightly harder setup for remote viewing for PC. FLIR program needs to be more user friendly. -plastic housing on cameras with small screws to adjust position. This is likely a point of failure. I'm certain the screws will be stripped or and break the plastic threads if someone overtightens. Personally, I would like a more sturdy metallic housing than a plastic one. In conclusion, the pros outweighs the cons so I highly recommend it.

System has been working great so far, had it for a week. Minus one star because one of the camera cables was DOA.

my first security camera system. while hardwiring is a pain, it's expected. the review is based on the software installation which has been frustrating. i set up my iPhone according to the guide and that works but have been unable to get it working on my iPad (still working on that). I have been unable to set the system up on my Mac (the software for mac is on the website but it's not obvious how to get it. the link shown in the installation instructions goes to a main menu, not the specific Mac download. i was able to download and open the software program but it tells me the cameras are off-line and i've been clueless how to fix that (still trying) so I had to revert to the dvr connected to a monitor for which i had to use a non-spare TV. That works just fine but there is no real software guide included in the package. You need to go on line and download the 198 page manual, then read that to figure out what all the icons mean for the mobile apps and to work the monitor software. So, that leads to my bottom line: - cameras are small, work well day and night, but would be nice to have more of a swivel mount intend of a 2-axis - you likely have tilted views with the 2-axis. - came with 4x60' ables and of course one run required 80' so i had to go buy another cable. it would be nice to include 1x40, 2x60 and 1x80 instead. - software installation still a work in progress. it is not as 'click and go' as the literature makes it seem. As an Apple product user, you get used to very intuitive and complete installation of software. This is 5 stars versus Apples' 9.5. -since this is my first video surveillance system, i can't rate it versus other systems. i'm pleased with the views, not i just need to learn the software, once i can get it loaded on my Mac.
