Let me start by saying this was my first security camera system purchase ever and I couldn't be happier. I purchased this system for my business and it was worth every penny. You DO have to be some what technical savvy. I have done a lot of research before I made the purchase. There are many more simple systems on the market, but I can guarantee that you will not have as many options as this system. This is basically a professional system sold to consumers. So, if your looking for a plug, play and forget system this is not the one for you. If you are willing to have patience and learn the system and set it up correctly, then you will be amazed at how well this system performs especially for the price. I have had to call a few times for assistance with this system and have had good results and the warranty is great as well too. I am so pleased with Lorex and my first purchase that I am purchasing a NVR system model # HDIP88DW for my house which eliminates the power cord and only uses 1 wire per camera for video, sound and power vs. the 2-3 wire per camera setup this system has. That would be the only negative thing I can say is that this system has a lot of wires near the DVR, but of coarse if your an organized person you can make it looks nice and neat, but if you would like to eliminate all those wires, get the system I mentioned above. This system still deserves 5 stars because it clearly states ANALOG HD1080 and is great! The NVR system I mentioned above is DIGITAL HD1080 and I'm sure will be amazing!

Easy setup, picture is extremely clear. App isn't the best, but WAY better than the Digi Summit app I had to use with my previous system. Cameras are nice and small, but field of view is just slightly less than my previous "pro system"

I purchased my system during the holiday and had some initial question and concerns about the system. The sales staff were extremely busy so I made my purchase in hopes of resolving my concerns after the holidays. I was able to get a great deal on my system due to holiday sales so I placed the order. I received my system and did not receive the correct power adapter which was one of my original concerns. Jenny followed up with me and shipped out the correct adapter and provided excellent post sales support to ensure my satisfaction. I really appreciated her desire to help me get my issues resolved. Great follow up!

I purchased the 12 channel DVR with 8 cameras and amazed how simple and fast it setup. I literally plugged it in, connected to my router, installed the PC and smart phone software, snapped the QR/ID tag with the software to identify it for cloud viewing, and even with the default power on settings unchanged, I had it running out of the box, recording on all channels, and viewable/controllable on my smart phone and PC. Wow ! Video quality is superb, especially night vision, crystal clear. Bandwidth is optimized very well- I'm using my system with a 4G verizon router - so even 4G cell is fine as long as your router has a wired cat5 jack for the DVR. Live views come up amazingly fast on my 4G phone- much faster than other brands I found. This system greatly exceeded my expectations given that I paid substantially less than other brands charge for similar quality. The lorex eco software just blows the doors off anything else I've tried with other vendors. I haven't had time to learn all the extra customizable features, and notification capabilities but hope to have time to have some fun with them soon. Only complaint/suggestion I have is to put text abbreviations next to the graphical control buttons in the software or have a context help button so I don't have to refer back to the full user guide- I don't want to have to touch a button to figure out what it does. However the user guide is fantastically well documented and clear so I will gladly read the manual to learn the advanced features. I definitely plan to expand this system and I will always buy Lorex systems for all my projects in the future. Pre-sales I emailed the company some questions and I got detailed answers very quickly. Excellent documentation, excellent online support pages for each model - and quick answers from anything I email the company about - GREAT STUFF ! I'm so glad I went with Lorex for my system.

Product is great easy to install, the remote connection was easy to setup, Pro: -Great Price can't bit that. -Easy to install and remote connection super easy. -Camera Quality is not bad at all. Cons: - if your mobile device doesn't have minimum 1.5 Mbps upload you won't be able to connect unless your phone is connected to a wireless connection. -No wifi available only Ethernet connection. -Need more instructions on the devices. Overall if you do not want to spend that much money on a system, this is one is great.

Unit doesn't come with much instructions, I couldn't connect to my iPad or iPhone, I had to call my provider for support and had to go into my router to increase the bandwidth, I am still learning on this one because the lack of instructions, was told to download them, but so far so good.

Product arrived quick. Great product for our needs. We installed 5 cameras immediately and 3 cameras a few weeks later. Process was simple and the instructions easy to follow and the cameras work perfectly including the night vision which is a great feature. We put the app on our laptop and iphones and have not had any issues.

As an installer I'm constantly looking for a monthly special that's ideal for my customers need. This system was an ideal fit for my low budget customer that had decided against purchasing any of the other Lorex systems that were available.

Third Lorex DVR system in last five years. LH160 functions exactly as it's described. Fast shipment from, overall quality is very good. The only complaint is the remote connection. Stratus cloud is not fast. DDNS connection instruction is still confusion. Once connected with DDNS, the remote video stream is awesome.

The clearty and Colors. The Night Vision is all some with it's brightness and clearty. I Highty Recommened the Lorex System. Thank you Lorex.

I wanted to wait awhile before my review to give the system a good chance. First off out of the box I got 1 defective camera/receiver set. This system came with 6 cameras and 6 receivers. When I called for support I was immediately told that having more then 4 cameras wirelessly would not work. I explained that this is how the system was sold I did not buy additional cameras and it was purchased directly from the Lorex website. That already didn't sit well with me. I am still waiting for a replacement. The other issue I have is the remote software hardly ever works. The phone app or the PC client both suck as far as being able to connect remotely. I am still going back and forth with tech support on this issue. The DVR itself is extremely loud and throws off quite a bit of heat so I don't recommend putting this anywhere that doesn't get good air flow. All in all not the best system. I think I could have done better with a different brand.

Got great customer support from the start and was able to make informed decision based off of that contact. The price was unbeatable! Items shipped quickly and were packaged well. The equipment looks quality and is easy to install. Would like a better manual for everything, but you can get one online (which is probably a cost saving factor which is passed along). Would order again from Lorex.

I recieved my system in about a week. The system came well pakaged and was very easy to take out. I really liked the dome cameras as they seemed to be well made. I had to buy 2 100ft camera cords due to my house being a long ranch. the included 60ft cables were ok for the other 2 cameras. The set up was really easy. Cons: The system does not come with a hard manual. You have to go to the website. I guess I can see why as i printed one out and it was 174 pages.

Ok I finally talked to a human being. Apparently the camera is out of stock. So he offered an up-grade. LOL I checked it out. My original camera order was 1 with 140' Night Vision and audio. The one they have sent is 90' Night vision and no audio. That is not an upgrade. It is a down grade. Decisions return the whole thing and look elsewhere or put up with the down grade. and what I have now.

Well I was really impressed the first 3-4 days then I started noticing little things I have overcome them and like the system. But I am not as impressed as I was. Calling in for help is a nightmare. Emailing is just as bad. In fact I am on hold right now as I write this. I did order another camera on Oct 3 today is the 8th and it says it is in warehouse. I have just heard for the 400th time that all orders ship in 24 hours.. I don't think so.. I still have just over a week for my 30 days and am considering returning the system. Who knows I may still be on hold this makes AT&T customer service in India look good LOL

I just purchased this new ECO6 LH16162T DVR with the new 900 TVL bullet cameras and a 700 TVL PTZ camera. What a great system, so far I am very happy with my purchase. Picture quality looks great, setup was easy and remote access setup in less than 5 minutes. If your looking for the latest in analog technology this is it, highly recommended.

Ordered the system online and received it in two days. Opened the box and they had upgraded the Dvr for free to more advanced and capable one with double the hard drive space. That was a pleasant surprise. Took it all out and tested all the pieces and everything worked the first time. Setup for all the cameras was easy and the remote view on tablet was a breeze. So far very happy with the system. Need to finish the instal bit so far so good.

Bought this for my first home monitoring system and am fairly impressed. It does everything it says it will. Good value. Easy to install....if you dont mind getting diry crawling thru attic and crawl spaces. Wireless actually more difficult to install for an amateur like myself. You still need a power source so make sure you could access an outlet. Cameras seem to work well....nice, crisp and clear. Zoom a little too powerful and range of view not enough for door or entrance monitoring unless you are mounting the camera far away. DVR is small yet powerful. No bigger than a notepad. TV resolution doesnt match DVR output. Need to use widescreen mode to use touchscreen properly. Stretches out picture and makes resolution poor. Switching to 4:3 mode creates a better picture but you get the ugly side bars and touch screen is off. Finally, the most frustrating thing with this DVR is the remote viewing via an Android device. I have yet to get it to work. Have only gotten it to "connnect" 3 times but no picture (bitrate, 0fps). Consistently getting ERROR DISCONNECT message. Remote viewing works great on Apple products and PCs. Would still recommend.

This is my third review for this system. I had issues at first with noise from the DVR - after working with tech support and customer service - another DVR was sent to me and it was also still noisy to me - In that time, I had a chance to work with it and decided to place it in closet behind my office and ran cables to my Monitor in my office. With that it was fine. Both Customer Service and Tech support have been great and that made all the difference - They bent over backwards to help me. I ran all my own cables through the attic space and at age 62, LOL - it was not easy but I got it done. I was able to set up most of the system but still needed CS to activate my ON line service and Iphone - again, they were great. Bottom line - for the price of this system on sale - I am happy and it works fine. Night vision is better than expected - Keep in mind - this is NOT CSI 10K camera's but they work fine.

I wrote a review a few weeks ago about my LH116LED66 and a noisy Fan / I promised to report back on the issue and Tech support. Tech/Customer service did send out a new DVR and it also had (what I call) a noisy fan?? For me its noisy, however, I will keep the system and install the DVR in my closet - Tech and customer service has been great. Just be aware of possible fan noise and that the Red light on the front of the DVR blinks all the time. I plan to put tape over that so it does not advertise location - want to keep the bad guy from finding this DVR. I am still in the process of setting up my Internet connection and can not report on that. One other issue to keep in mind - If you think these pictures are going to be as clear as your HD flat screen TV's - you might be a little disapointed? Iam looking at my 9 installed camera's right now on my Lorex flat screen and the images are OK but not so clear that I could read a Lic plate but I also did not spend 10K for this set up - It will work for me and I do like the Customer service and I got an offer to extend my warranty one year by placing a review is nice - would have placed the review anyway - just nice to know I now have two years of warranty IF I have a problem. Iam 62 and ran all my own cables in my attic space, LOL > not an easy task but I got it done.

Some good some bad.

"I have had the Lorex 8 camera dvr with seperate monitor system for a few months now. The system works really well exept when monitoring cameras from a remote location. The software's not very user friendly. It's to difficult to navigate and view footage from remote locations. This is the second system I've owned and preferred the desktop software that Lorex uses to archive and view dvr footage. The new system uses only a web page to log in and then the customer has limited controls for viewing and backup. I would give it a 5 star rating if there was desktop software available for remote viewing."

"Cameras are too week. During the day the picture quality is so so. During the night it is a guess work.

The DVR has many good functionalities. Local and internet access is very good. Motion detection sometimes produces corrupted pictures. Currently the DVR, for Internet access, does not work with Motorola Atrix. Lorex support is very good but the wait time is too long.

Reliable, Reliable, Reliable.

"Purchased this unit to replace a 4-camera Lorex system to get better coverage and picture resolution. When unit arrived the DVR malfunctioned and was replaced by Lorex after two days working by phone with tech support (used phone because first email was unanswered for a week).

In 11 months of full-time use, there have been no problems with the cameras or the DVR. Resolution is very good both day and night. Set-up was simple, but the back of the DVR is so crowded that it's very difficult to manage the eight BNC connections. That's the price you have to pay for such a compact unit.

Fairly easy to backup the DVR (copy video segments) with a USB memory device, but the format is .MOV which I have to convert to .WAV or .AVI.

Cannot comment on touch screen, internet connectivity, or remote operation. I operate it only with the mouse because I don't feel the need to use the touch screen o the remote control.

For me, the strongest feature is the reliability of the unit. It replaced another Lorex product which was also 100% dependable. I would give this product a very positive recommendation based on reliability alone, but I am also pleased with all of the other features which I use."

"Pro's: Full 30fps all channels, smart phone viewing, adjustable motion sensing and many other great features.

Cons: No control discription when you hover over a button, thats would be very helpful as sometimes dont know what a button does until you click it. No full screen mode on internet viewing. Also, recording look-up is very cumbersome and definitally needs to be streamlined.

This is the best system I could find, and with a little tweeking , nothing else would come close.

Very Poor Mac Support

"The 8 cameras work great and were easy to install by my son and I in an afternoon. Everything worked well automatically except the web support is terrible if you use a Mac. There was a lot of PC support but I am still working with the company website to try to get my Mac to monitor the system after trying for two weeks."

Pros: easy to instll

Cons: bad mac support

its very convinient to use

"I purchased two different Lorex security camera systems for two of my offices. I liked this system because I can see the office through my Iphone day and night. One night right after Valentines'day I got a call from security alarm company saying the security alarm was triggered. If they should call the Police. I was able to see through my I phone that office. It turns out the alarm system went off triggered by the balloons the girls received from their valentines....."

Good so far, but..

"Good so far, but definitely not an easy project. if you can not hook up your tv or vcr or stereo or computer and do the basic set up on them, you will have some problems. not hard but you need to be a little tech friendly to get this going. directions are ok, not great. have not called tech support yet but need to, to figure out how to (port forward modem/router) to view over internet. can view on my computer over local network connection, but not yet from log in from another computer off site. for the price it seems pretty good. have only had for 1 month so can not comment yet on durability."

Pros: price / works with mac/apple

Cons: plan on an all weekend install or 2...

Worked Right Out Of The Box - Great Product

Model Number: Lorex 8 Channel EDGE

"I had never purchased or used a security system before, so I was concerned about how complex they might be to install and setup. I took the Lorex out of the box and plugged in all the connectors, and IT WORKED. I played with the system for a few days learning how to set it up for motion only recording, and all the other options. The operating system is surprisingly simple and easy to understand. I installed the system and had no issues other than figuring how to run the wires in some tight places. It's been running now for 30 days with no problems."

Edge 300 series with full Mac compatibility

"I was originally interested in Lorex systems because they are the only company that makes a Mac compatible DVR. It is truly Mac friendly and works wonderfully, with local access and remote access using Safari. But also as a general surveillance system, I can't imagine it working more smoothly.

Fully Mac compatible.

Even as a non-tech person, the set up was relatively easy.

The night-time resolution of the daytime/night time camera is excellent, wired and wireless.

iPhone app works perfectly as long as you are WiFi connected. (understandably the 3G speed is too slow to allow real viewing)

Customer service is excellent and the higher executives really care about their products and customer satisfaction. Personal follow up was a pleasant surprise!

Tech support is either excellent or incompetent depending on who answers the phone

The cameras work really well, but if your goal is their lack of visibility, there are certain situations where this is impossible, especially at night with the IR light. The solution can be found elsewhere, but it would be great if Lorex provided more camera style choices."

"Nice camera system, simple camera set up, however the ability to set up the mobile monitor piece leaves much to be desired. Not only is the download for a droid phone a process, but the instructions are less than user friendly."

Pros: easy use of touch screen monitorclear daytime viewing

Cons: short distance night visionpoor customer servicecomplicated phone setup

Excelent price and quality

"Researched various DVR's and found the Lorex Link to have all necessary features for surveillance and monitoring that others did not offer.

Price was extremely competitive compared to other brands offering the same or less in quality and/ or features.

Cameras however are low resolution, but for certain conditions, do the job excellently. For more detailed display, higher resolution cameras can be purchased separately.

I highly recommend this product."

Great remote video viewed on any device!

"I purchased this product specifically because I was looking for a means to monitor my home on my BlackBerry 8320 Curve. This product meets my needs and more. For starters, the set-up was easy and straight-forward. No trouble at all. After testing my setup, I registered with the free Lorex DDNS service and found remote viewing and control to be easy and effortless. Whether using my laptop, desktop or BlackBerry, the system is a breeze to monitor and control. The included client software makes the remote setup very easy. Since the DVR is a server, for those of you who are network geeks out there, you can access it directly through a firewall with no client software needed if you know how to set it up.....yes, all the info is in the manual.

This system is an upgrade for me. My old security cameras were X10-based and used separate motion sensors. With the Lorex, the motion detection is built into each camera. Genius! The video quality is very, very good and works day (color) and night (B&W with infra-red LEDs in each cam). The setup also has 8 external alarm inputs so that you can wire up a door or window contact to elicit an email message upon triggering. Emails can be sent to as many as 5 addresses.

I highly recommend this product.

Good buy!

"I purchased the LH 400 Link Series a couple month ago. I found the instalation to be straight forward and simple. The set up of the DVR for the network and IPhone was a little more challenging. The instructions that Lorex supplied was extreamly helpful in my sucessful setup. Great product! I expect this product to last many years to help protect my house."
