BNC cables for high defininition video transmission and plug-and-play security set-up

Plug-and-play installation with Analog HD technology

Standard BNC cabling is used in the MPX1681Z to deliver crystal clear 1080p HD video. This siamese BNC cable provides both video and power transmission for an easy-to-install process that will have your system up and running in no time. As an alternative to digital HD, analog HD cameras like these can be placed up to 800 feet away from the DVR - making them ideal for securing large properties (see documentation for complete details). The 8 channel DVR is also backwards-compatible, and can be used with older compatible BNC cameras. This unique feature gives you the ability to expand your security coverage without purchasing additional cameras.

This is the second Lorex system I have installed. This one uses a single Cat 6 cable the previous one used the combination power cable and Coax line. The clarity of the pictures with the Cat 6 cable is amazing. I did have one camera that stopped working after about a week in service. I am submitting it for warranty return. That process seems to need a bit of extra prodding to get anything done. Otherwise I am very happy with both systems. 2 weeks after the first system was installed a break in occurred on the premises. Police took the pictures from the cameras and convicted the person. PERFECT!!!!!

Installed HD CCTV system with PTZ (720p) 2 weeks ago. Now i am able to see thru a smart phone and love FLIR Cloud APPS, very quick response via iPhone 6. So far no problems except its motion alert sensitivity. As soon as I set up ALERT, it started sending alerts every single minute on all of 3 cameras. Maybe bugs flying around but it is too sensitive... Looking to control sensitivity but looks like it is one stop set up by Lorex. Other than that, it is very clear, PTZ is awesome! Zoom in/out and can rotate via iPhone. Night vision looks clear. Satisfied with this purchase for sure.

This is 2nd time I write review. I did wrote it about a week ago. I wrote under my account. ..Why Lorex not post them up. Long story to short. Security cameras are a lot better than alarm systems. Good investment for your property. You can monitor it any where on your smartphone.

I ordered my camera last November and decided to wait until this year 2016 to star installing it bit by bit. I took all care as I normally do when installing items and started doing so last February. I decided to only installed 14 cameras and hold two back incase of a problem. All cameras works so fine showing and connecting online worked well. On the 28th of February I decided to installed one on the outside of the building, that camera worked the entire Sunday ring into Monday morning the 29th then say around 10am the camera wasn't showing on the monitor. I said to myself what's up now and didn't pay no mind thinking it was a power issue. Yesterday Saturday 5th I removed the camera and put the extra one on and it worked. Seems as though the camera had an issue. Other than that everything is alright. I am hoping under the one year warranty Lorex will replace the one camera.

Thank you for your feedback and sorry to hear about your one camera. Please contact our technical support team and they will set up a warranty replacement for you if it's needed 1-877-755-6739.

Purchased this through Costco as a complete unit. The only part that I wished they would do different with pre-packaged systems like this is have all the cameras the same bullet type. Outside of that the system came in great. I was advised by a friend to hook everything up on a table before starting which I did. I am so glad he recommended that since it did take quite a while to get everything working within my network. The only thing I see lacking here is good instructions on how to setup and use the system. I really had to hunt and search for a long time to find the right manuals online for the DVR system that it came with (Costco model is not any models on their site). I had an installed actually run all the ethernet through the walls and hang the cameras which took a while for him to fish everything through the walls, I highly recommend having someone else do that part. Cameras all appear to be functioning well, the only thing I still have not been able to figure out or find how to correct online is getting the iPhone app to view the camera remotely. I signed up for the DDNS site through Lorex, but the link they sent back does not work. That is going to require a call to Lorex and figure out since their instructions and troubleshooting online really is one of the worst index or lack of information systems I have seen. I do have 2 cameras that even though set to Continuous mode, at night they keep switching to Motion only. I cannot see anywhere as to why that keeps happening. Also I have set the time on the cameras about 4 times now and it will not hold the correct time. you nee to know the GMT setting for your area for that to work. Overall I am happy with the quality, but already want to swap out the dome cameras for bullets as they seem to have a much poorer quality camera in them

I purchased a wireless system at first, but after realizing the signal strength would not be sufficient for my home, I opted for a wired system. I am very pleased with the system. I have 8 cameras, mainly outdoor, and have the ability to add 8 additional.
The technical support team can be reached via telephone (immediate response) or email (slow response). They are more than willing to assist with all programming and customization needs.
Lorex is a brand I will definitely choose again!

I have 2 systems in place and have been a Lorex customer for 7 years. I made the mistake a year ago by buying a few cheap cameras from a Large department store to expand my systems and regret it. I finally got smart and trashed the junk and added 5 more LOREX cameras to my arsenal.Glad I did. The picture quality is amazing and I didn't realize how good they were until I had tried to use some other brand names for a while.Oh and the first system I bought is now 7 years old and is better quality than the newer dept store cams I bout. Over 7 years I have only needed tech support a cpl of times when I changed things around but You absolutely cannot beat Lorex customer assistance and tech support. Ima customer for life.

This system is was excellent. From ease of installation, connection, functionality, everything was straight forward, simple, and worked flawlessly! Extremely pleased with the purchase and the quality of the camera images was much better than expected. I am very pleased with the system and would recommend it to anyone looking for something quick, simple, and easy to install (totally plug and play) with excellent quality.

As far as I am concerned this is the cat's meow in having personal video surveillance at your residence for minimal cost. I can view my house from anywhere in the world and know what is happening around my house. This is at no extra cost after the system was purchased. I installed this myself and added cameras for a total of 8. Yes you do have to get up on a ladder and use a drill at the same time and maybe crawl through the attic but that is minor. The system is so straight forward that even for a computer hack like me I was able to set up the account for remote viewing. The only problem I have is now I want the PZT cameras (Pan Tilt Zoom) cause it just looks like more fun! I really could not believe the price for what I got but in this case it was absolutely true. I have recommended this system to others something that I honestly refrain from doing with other products as I figure I should be paid for advertising. In this case security trumps that if you get a system I am sure you will have the same piece of mind that I do having it. Just remember the bad guys are looking for easy targets and a house bristling with cameras is not and easy target.

I know this review may sound a little over the top but this is one of those things that really delivers.

Regards, Dave

Thank you for your feedback. We're happy to hear your system is working well for you.

Easy installation. Cameras come with long cable suitable for indoor wiring. I got extra long cables for cameras to be installed in the outdoor and far corners of the property, all give good quality picture. Cameras work flawless in all weather conditions even in -40C.

This is my second lorex security cameras system . The first went to my business and still works after 10+ years I bought this one for my home and I love . I got this one for my home and it works fantastic I have it set up on my iPad, and can observe from anywhere I can check on my pets or the security of my home. I can't believe how much better the night vision are on these cameras! My basement is in complete darkness yet I can see things on the floor as small as a screwdriver 20 feet away . And outdoors I can see over 100 feet as advertised I'm truly impressed. I highly recommend the Lorex system. Thanks John L.

We have installed 15 of these systems in the past 2 months. The picture quality and software for remote viewing is good for the price of the system.

The one complaint is the plastic base which has been broken out of the box or breaks when trying to adjust the camera location.
After spending hours pulling wire and installing a camera one should not have to worry about a cheap piece of plastic breaking, holding up the entire job until it can be replaced.

Overall the system works well. Amperage or lighting issues can cause the cameras to have problems determining if it is night or day (black & white always).
This seems to be a common problem for many Lorex cameras which tells me it has something to do with the IR sensor. It would be nice if they would recognize the issue and correct it.
Lorex has also reduced the amperage of their power supplies which will only increase the problem.

I installed my system in Fall of 2011 and it's been an absolutely excellent piece of equipment. The recorder, the cameras, everything, hook up was easy and quick. Configuring the DDNS was rough to begin but Lorex support helped me perfectly (my router was defective, not the Lorex equipment!) I recommend Lorex and the LH118 Series systems 100%!!! I am very satisfied!!! Thank you!!!

Today, after I spent a few hours with customer service rep. It started to working. Before I was able to prt all the camera on,it died again.

This is the third one, that I bought from Lorex, which is the worst.

This is in addition to my initial review posted Jan 2nd, 2015. One of the last problems I had was remote viewing with my computer and iphone. After two days of being on the phone with both Lorex and my internet provider, the viewing for both is finally operational. The real hero in all of this is Krissy, who helped me with all of the steps and didn't lose patience with me. A really good experience when you can count on a company to actually have technical support that actually know what they are doing. I have given five stars for this support. I would only have given four stars as I think the setup process should be more user friendly, especially for non technical minds like me. I am now happy with the system and it is working very well.

Product works as advertised and not unusually hard to set up cameras with dvr. However, still in the process of trying to view cameras on my laptop and iphone. I bought my Lorex camera system a few years back, and its still running like new today. This is a solid investment in security that has so many more features than merely come in the box. The online support and remote viewing capability to name a few. I recommend this company to anyone I know who is looking to purchase a security camera system. It was easy to install right out of the box, not very difficult to setup, and the online/remote access setup wasn't hard either. Overall one of the best purchase I've ever made.

The product is fairly simple to use and install. I purchased this for my business and used all 16 cameras. The picture quality isn't exactly what I was hoping for, but it's not horrible. The other problem is that we bought extensions for the cables. We had 6 of the cameras that were more than 90 feet from the DVR and power source. When the IR turns on it is too much of a drain and turns those cameras off. We are still trying to figure out a solution.

I was also under the impression this system had audio capabilities. So far in working with the system, I'm haven't found anything like a microphone on any of the cameras.

Customer support has been hit or miss. We called 3 times. First two we got someone that spoke broken English and was less than helpful. The 3rd was very helpful and friendly.

I still need another one for my home security. I'm doubtful I will purchase this brand with what I have found so far.

Just received the VB62C16 system and after spending about an hour on the phone speaking to the sales associate I was more than surprised to find out that I only received one power adapter for every 4 cameras and a 4 way splitter, not individual power adapters. I called back and spoke to the sales department again and was told that this is how it ships and that the cable supplied (approximately 60') is what comes standard. This means that each camera has to be located within a 60' cable run of the DVR unit (the video and power cables are built together). And if I need to run a longer line (which I do), I will have to buy individual power adapters at $19.95 each. That is almost an additional 20% increase to the price of the system that I purchased. I haven't even gotten to use the products and I am already ready to throw in the towel.

This is a good beginner system. The DVR interface is easy to navigate. Install was very easy thanks to the quick start guides. The camera picture quality isn't that great. We recently purchased the LH146 ECO3 with 16 cameras to replace an aging 8 channel system. It was easy to set up for me. So far I only have 8 cameras connected using the power/cable wires I already have installed, which was as easy as screwing the new camera to the wall and connecting the wires. The other 8 will be a little more involved. As far as setting up the DVR I did it the way I know how. I did not use the Lorex Easy Connect software since I'm well versed in port forwarding on my home network. That all went very well for me. Sure it does take some time. I set up my DDNS through DYNDNS since I already had an account with them for some IP cameras I am also using.

I've seen where others have mentioned it takes a little while to learn how to navigate the menus. I've found this to be true. It has been a little bit of a learning curve to me also. Moving from one system that I am quite familiar with to a completely new setup has taken a little bit of getting used to. There are a couple of features of my old system that I am missing, but one thing I love about this system is the mobile viewing. It is invaluable for me as I have to keep track of my Outdoor Wood Furnace at all times as I often have a very high heat load and I need to monitor the water temp. Just a quick glance at my phone from anywhere tells me if I need to hurry home.

One thing I could use some input on is a DVR Client program that could monitor this DVR as well as my old one from Nuvico. The Client I have from Nuvico is good for multiple DVRs but for some reason I cannot get it to connect with my Lorex DVR.

All-in-all, very happy with this system. Picture quality is great, recording seems great, and night vision is far superior to what I was used to. I'd like more of these cameras to go with my old DVR as well. All together coupled with the price we paid I give it 5 stars. Great value!!!

I purchased one of these units over a year ago and over the weekend set up the remote settings that it offers. The product is very solid, stable, and Lorex support is great if you run into any trouble along the way.

The cameras are small and produce a great quality picture when I go back to view the recordings for the day. Additionally, the software is very hands on but will require a firmware upgrade before using.

All in all I think that you will be satisfied with this product. It has been serving me great for over a year and I hope for many more years of use. Lorex is great!

We purchased a system in December, 2012 and have generally been satisfied with the security it has provided. The picture is very clear and the dvr is easy to use. My only complaint is the difficulty in setting up the port forwarding of my modem/router.

Out standing product, I'm not a tech user but setup was easy. The technical support was even better customized my system with port forwarding and DDNS setup while I watch. Remote software let them in and bang no problem. Love the result and will defiantly tell my friends and buy Lorex for any additional items I may want or need. Fantastic

I consider lorex to be a bad experience with not only with bad customer service, waiting on hold for a long period of time and they having to rush the call, defective items DVR running hard, cameras not giving a clear view at night, ,Base of the camera mount are lose defective mount and when you want to exchange for the same item that work accurately knowingly they know you are they costumer, you will have to send and find the receipt, email of fax them the receipt putting a customer though so much, rather then sending a shipping label for exchange. I'm totally dissatisfied will lorex products!

I purchased an DVR, cameras from CCTV security pros ect . and they are held countable for all they items, and great with costumer service

Buy this closed loop system and install battle not a good resolution has nothing else I can check the security cameras from anywhere in the world from USA to Mexico or some other country at no cost, I check the camera through my computer laptop or Tablet Android. Besides these cameras 600 tvl vision is good Angulo have an open angle which let you look sideways more than other systems out there, they also have good night vision indoor and outdoor areas too dark in places.

We purchased this unit about a year ago and have had one replacement DVR sent recently due to the hard drive failing. Other than that one issue we have been pleased with Lorex and their products. This is our third unit in 6 years and we have upgraded each time from a 4 camera to an 8 to now a 16. Their technical support is top notch and able to easily help with questions and most importantly with the remote viewing setup.

I will encourage anyone when looking for a camera system to check out Lorex and give their products a try.

This system is very easy to set up out of the box. The instructions are very user friendly. My friend and I don't have too much computer knowledge but were able to get entire system set up within a few hours. Ive looked at many other products and noticed the lorex is by far the best. you can just tell the quality and clarity compared to others. The customer support is outstanding too! I will definitely purchase another system for my brother as a present for the holidays.

I like the ddns feature where we can login from anywhere without having a static IP address. That part was very easy to set up.

I'm happy to say I feel very safe now after installing this system

We invested in the system after two break-ins at our home. Fortunately we used a professional installer and worked with our alarm company to get the system up and running. Tech support at Lorex was helpful in guiding us through the internet set up for remote viewing, and provided tips for talking with our internet provider to get the most out of the system. The resolution on the cameras is less than I expected and would probably recommend going with the higher end HD system if image quality is a concern.

I have purchased 10+ of the Lorex Ecobox systems for our company and I am very satisfied with the ease of setup, Lorex online applications and support. The only issue that I have ran into is cameras getting stuck in the night vision mode when it is light out. Out of around 200 cameras I would say the problem has occurred in about 20 cameras so 10%. It is easily fixed when the tech is still on site but when they are not it creates a viewing issue.

This new system (LH118501) replaces an old system (Lorex) that quit working. I was trying to use my old cameras (SG7518) with the new recorder. I had to buy 3 connectors/adapters to make it work and still waiting on some more parts. Seems that I also needed separate power supplies for the 6 old cameras (CVA4910 $50.) They are on order and I hope to have it working in a couple weeks. The ordering was cumbersome and the sales technician hard to reconnect with after the initial call. My last call was 1:15 minutes long trying to find out why it didn't work properly. I hope the system goes together smoother than the ride to where I'm at now.

More of a toy than anything. Video quality is not sufficient to id someone illegally on the property or premises unless they got within a couple of feet of the camera. Software is basic at best and tech support is an arduous undertaking. I have called twice and never been on hold less than an hour. I spent allot of money installing the system and in hindsight don't expect much of a return

LH110 ECO DVR system came with 6 Wi-Fi Cameras. After the Sandy Superstorm, 3 shorted out. So, only 3 are working now.
Installation was very easy, except for setting up the DDNS service for Internet access. This was due primarily to the undocumented requirement to enter the DVR's MAC address using lowercase letters. A call to LOREX Customer Support (undocumented phone number) set me straight quickly, but only after waiting an hour on hold.
The cameras work fine as does the DVR. An unforeseen drawback is that each camera adds two WI-FI transmitters to my network. This uses up bandwidth making it unusable to other devices after 4 cameras are installed. Needed to purchase a WI-FI range extender for about $70 to support other devices like laptops.

I would like to say that I am very happy with my product and with Lorex. I am in the process of networking my system and customer service seems to be very helpful. I am confident that I haven't had any lapses other than user error in installing and maintaining my system. I feel comfortable with Lorex getting criminals caught in the act if and when they ever perpetrated a crime against my home. This will lead to a greater success of apprehension and attention Andy's the ambiguity of victimization.

I ordered this system and originaly thought it would be more than I could handle. I enlisted the help of a friend although I soon found out I could do it alone of the course of a few days (with my busy schedule). We took our time shielding the cams under the overhangs and concealing the wires. The housing of the cameras are plastic and I would prefer better quality but under my overhang I should have no problem. The cameras have an amazing picture, the DVR looks impressive and came with an hdmi and vga connection and an upgraded hard drive to 1TB. 60 ft of cable with every camera was more than enough for my longest runs from the basement to the main attic and back down behind the wall and out to dvr. I just need to set up my internet connection and I'm done. I'm thoroughly pleased with the system so far. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a system on the cusp of quality and fairly inexpensive as far as systems go. I dropped one star for the plastic camera housing but not major if you mount under overhangs like I did.

Great system especially for the price. We actually haven't had them properly installed yet. We have them in the inside of the window as opposed to the outside; however the pictures are very clear. You can definitely see the images clearly even through the glass. I love the snapshot feature, allowing you to take a photo and it saves automatically to my phone and I absolutely love being able to stream from anywhere.

This our 2nd system we have purchased from Lorex. We moved, so we needed a new system. Selling our old house with the Lorex system, will be a big plus. Setting this one up was as easy as setting up our first one. It's a fantastic product that will help protect our home. We love the wide angle cameras that capture a large portion of our driveway, front porch and the back of our house. I wish that the cables that came with the system were 100', instead of the 60' er's. The box came complete will every cable you need. The Easy Connect CD, didn't work with either of our systems, so I had to call the Lorex techs, to get the system to work on our lap tops. It takes up quite a bit of time, but the techs get the job done. Everyone who visits our house, are very impressed with the system and are hoping someday, to get one of their own.

Very easy set up as far as hooking up the cams turn it on it works. That's the good news. Trying to back up the unit or make a copy of the video for the police is next to impossible. The picture on the monitor is nice till you take it to 1 cam. The overall quality of the cams is not the greatest. I can not even read the 6" logo on my camper that is only 15' away. If you get someone close to the cams you can make out their face but anything over 10 feet away forget it, they are nothing but a blur of pixels.

This systum was very easy to setup, there is nothing bad I can say about it. I checked out all the online videos Lorex has on the setting up and I also checked out other systems from other manufactures and they had nothing to match for the price, and the specs also they had no videos on how to set up there systems. I find for in my home it is the best, as for the length of cables I think it's all in how you plan the layout. We have a 2 story home and all cables reach with a little left over. Video is good day or night, I'm planing on Purchasing a PTZ cam to go inside the house so it will cover most of the downstairs, others then the Master Bedroom. A good system for the home. Easy to set up and operate. The only down side is the cable is not long enough. Need at least 100 ft and Lorex provides only 60ft. Also it should be in bold letters that you need to buy a cable to connect DVR to monitor. The cable is not supplied by Lore

Great Product...with a caveat

Pros: intuitive hardware installation and hook up, picture quality - daylight

Cons: limited range of infrared ilumination, dvr user interface, confusing internet view instructions

"I installed this product myself without any problems. All the hook-ups are intuitive and easy to accomplish. The quality of the hardware is definitely top notch. Unfortunately I cannot say the same for the software that comes with the dvr unit. It is not as intuitive and to be honest, could use some enhancement. But it works as advertised!! The cameras that come with the DVR provide great picture quality both day and night, although the infrared lighting is only good for about 10 feet, which means that if you mount the cameras under the eave of your roof (10 feet high already), you're pushing the limit. On the plus side the Infrared led's don't have the reddish glow that some have when they're on, so the camera's cannot be seen at night. Overall I'm very pleased with my purchase and the quality of the product and definitely recommend it's purchase."

A decent system out of box

Lorex has come a long way. good system for the money. clear videos, setup was a bit of a challenge, make sure you plan where the wires will run before you buy. fyi, none of the cameras that come with this system have audio, but its not really needed. get it for this price while u can.

cameras are very small. they can be angled any which way, except for upside down. you get 4x50ft of bnc extension. if its not long enough, then you can buy an extension from lorex and buy a bnc barrel connector.

software is great. it takes a little getting used to, but u can fine tune a lot of stuff. like motion triggering sensitivity and u can even fine tune where the trigger points are for a camera. like if u have a tree in your field of view, u can choose to ignore that tree to prevent triggering the motion sensor,

remote viewing through the internet, was easy setup. you can view live, and previous recordings using IE. very cool, iphone app worked well, although not always consistently working, but it works

oh and all 16 cameras can record at the same time
