I researched these types of products for 6-8 months reading reviews and equipment specs. I know that FLIR did not develop the Lorex products but having FLIR as the parent company added a strong value component to my decision. Install and setup were very simple and straight forward. I work in a high security facility utilizing high dollar Bosch security cameras. The picture quality of the 1080p Lorex HD camera actually rivals the Bosch (both night and day time views).
The installation "plug and play" of the cameras with the DVR was a breeze.
The only downfall to this system is the FLIR app. It tends to be extremely "buggy" and tends to crash in replay mode.
I have already referred this product/company to several friends and family members.

The only deterant to purchasing from this company is the customer service, while accommodating, they just simply don't have enough employees. I was on hold a total of 3 hours and 26 minutes out of a 3 hour and 44 minute call to replace two faulty power adapters.

2. Night view with low light environment much worse than old system. Totally blurry and useless. Very disappointing.

I just installed this HD camera which demonstrated better quality image during the day than my old one which was also a Lorex with 960H. However, when it comes to picture quality at night with low light level situations, the pictures are much worse especially with the brightness and contract. I had cranked up the brightness to 100% but the displayed images are still very dark and fuzzy. Therefore, I am disappointed as it is at night that I would like especially for the monitoring of the surroundings around my house.

I purchased the system with 8 cameras in the end of November 2015, but didn't install them until about 2 months ago. The system and cameras worked ok until yesterday. 2 cameras have been down just after 2 months of the installation. The problems of the Lorex and this product are
(1) No detailed installation instruction provided with the items. It's very difficult to find the correct manual on its website.
(2) Technical support is not available in the evening and weekends.
(3) Customer Support is only available for a few hours during weekdays.
(4) I suppose to have extended warranty as sales promotion. However, I could only got the standard 1 year warranty when I registered online.
(5) It's very bad that 2 cameras have been down just after 2 months of the installation.

I'll call the technical or customer support tomorrow and hope somebody can help.

I am very happy with these cameras. I did not do the installation myself, so I can't speak on behalf of that. The live stream is so sharp in both daylight and at night. What a field view these cameras have! The 90° spread sees everything and all eight cameras were just perfect for my large perimeter home. The app is also great and never let's me down when I need to see my home when I'm away. I also got $118 off of the the original price with a Lorex coupon so that was a plus as well. It is a great system with lots of bang for your buck!

I am super unhappy with lorex customer service, i order a set of cameras on tuesday morning with expedited shipping for 3 days. I never receive a tracking number, so i called them and they stated that they need to verify my payment when they already charge me on my account. I called like 10 times already and they said they are going to shipped today and to verify i called 10 minutes ago and they said to hold on and hang up on the customer. what type of customer service is this? i pay extra for shipping, so it could be here on time. Next time i will do my business with Swann or even Zmodo because i have business that are waiting for there camera installation for Saturday and now because this people are so unprepared i have to suffer the consequence.

Initial set up was easy and quick. However, more technical information is needed on tuning in the motion and zones on the cameras. Just for the record, a technical professional installed this system. “Quick start” guides provided were great to initially get installation and use started, but much more information was required in order to use the system as it is designed to be used. Only basic set up information at the most was provided, no further detail on the fine tuning set up and operation of the system. Instructions were not detailed enough; only an overview was provided, and an owner’s manual was not included. Online help is not helpful. Set up guides are only that, how to set up. No information is provided about how to detail and fine tune the cameras to user requirements or explain what the different options are and what they will do for you. We downloaded the 188 page user manual that was available online, however that was not detailed enough either. It is much more than simply attaching the cameras and booting up the hard drive and getting your smart phone synchronized. We have spent many hours getting the cameras fine-tuned. This is a good quality product and with more information for the end users this would have earned 5 stars.

Awesome quality picture and ease of setup. Nighttime infrared is bright and powerful... amazing how much "dust" in the air it sees. Software (DVR, PC, and ANDROID) can be a bit confusing when moving around and trying to locate stuff. The feature for automatically changing from one camera to another in order needs ALOT of work. It "steps" through each camera, full screen, the shows 4 cameras, then the next 4 cameras, then 8 cameras stepping each one into the larger image, then back to full screen again. Would be nice if it just cycled through the screen setup you originally chose (fullscreen, 4 screen, etc). The PC software has more capabilities for viewing than the built in DVR software. This is the second unit we have purchased direct. Biggest complaint, delays in shipping "in-stock" items (plan on 5 days before it leaves there warehouse)... hope your not in a hurry to get it. Also very very lousy customer support when you call. Long hold times, reps unknowledgeable... following scripts it seems, and they just seem to not care. Product itself, awesome... 10 out of 10, customer support 2 out of 10, shipping, -1 out of 10.

The system it self works fine and does a good job. However no this is NOT the 1080P picture you are used to on your TV. It would have been nice if Lorex would have shown picture quality between the analog and the IP systems. I was expecting to be able to view license plates with this system. However there is not a chance. I can barely see the plate on my truck in the drive way. A typical cable system runs on analog rg59 or rg6 lines and then is converted to a digital signal at the DVR. I assumed this system operated the same however this is not the case. There is no digital conversion. Your screen will be grainy when using "digital zoom". However I gave the system 3 stars as the system it self hooks up easily and everything seems to operate as it should. Just beware if you want a true HD picture this is not the system for you.

I have installed a half dozen security systems over the years and this is by far the best quality system I have installed out of all of them. I want to break this down into 4 sections, Pros, or things that really stand out in this system. Cons, which are the fault of the Lorex system or documentation. Cons, which are not a fault of Lorex but are just problems that are found with this type of system, and a wishlist of what I would like to see that I think could make this system even better.

Camera’s are very clear and have great color and clarity
DVR has beginner to advanced options
The software on the unit is great and easily allows to search events and view history
FLIRCloud software for computers (Mac and PC) and Phones (Android and Iphone) is really good. I usually use a 3rd party software to view my cameras (TinyCam Pro), but I don’t use it with this system, the software is very good.
Night vision is very good on these camera’s and I can easily see in pitch dark 70 feet away.
Large 2TB Western Digital Purple (Surveillance model) hard drive. I am glad to see they did not use a desktop hard drive and instead used a hard drive that is built for this type of 24/7 system.

Cons (Fault of Lorex):
The most noticeable con in this system is that the fan is LOUD. I have this unit installed on the top of a shelf in my basement and I can easily hear the fan through the floorboards. I wish that Lorex would have spent a couple dollars to install a quality fan that is silent instead of this loud fan. I picked up a COOLERTEC CTV-GB2 Silent cooler that you can find on ebay, there is limited space on both sides of the cpu so only specific 45mm fans will fit.
The documentation while describing what the settings do is not in depth as you would like and understanding the options can lead to some trial and error. Lorex could spend some more time fleshing these out especially in the motion detection section.
Still requires Internet Explorer and an activeX control if you want remote access without installing the software, with Microsoft phasing out ActiveX and a lot of ip camera solutions working with Chrome and Firefox with HTML5 controls it would be nice to see this remedied in the future.
Each camera came with its own power supply instead of one power supply for all 8 cameras. You can order a single power supply for multiple cameras, but for a prebuilt system this is a pain especially when you are getting 6 or more cameras and each one needs plugged in. This makes for the need of a power strip and a lot more tangled mess.
The camera's base does not seem to rotate around the base and you need to mount them facing the direction you want to point them. This means you should have the system setup and watching when you are installing the cameras especially on the ceiling as you will want to face them in the direction you want.
The password is limited to only 6 characters exactly, this is a very poor security design and is a critical flaw in the system that I hope will be remedied in a future update.

This system, while having a couple small faults, is overall a great system with excellent software, cameras and management. The price is very good compared to similar camera systems, that offer more difficult software to configure and more limited software options. I will be recommending this system to all my clients from now on.

With five installed out of eight, I noticed that one of the camera is not function property as it works for a few hours and then doesn't work for a few hours with the black/gray strip screen, keep doing that in cycle. 6-HD DVR NOT really true If ONE camera is 1080p rest of them are 10 FPS Need to put ALL cams 720p to get normal/no jumping motion.

The system overall is good so far. I have been using it for a week. The picture quality is crisp and clear. The camera captures a pretty wide angle. The size of the camera is fairly small so they are pretty inconspicuous and do not stand out in a residential setting. I only wish I had ordered 12 camera and install one in the garage too but oh well, 8 is enough to cover around the house including 1 in the basement on a sump pump to keep an eye on it when we are not around or on vacation.

The DVR is loud so if you plan on keeping it in the bedroom, be careful of the noise level of the DVR. I have it in my office so it doesn't bother me too much unless I am using my office at night when its generally quiet and I can really hear it running. That is the only reason I gave it 4 star, otherwise I would have given 5.

The iPhone app is also pretty impressive. I did not have any issues setting it up.

We purchased the 8 Channel system on Black Friday and got a great deal. But when the system showed up, it was missing two of the 1080p cameras. I tried the ticket system they have for emails and didn't get any response. I called in the morning and couldn't wait so had to call later, because of black Friday they were really backed up.but once I got through they were very helpful and had my two missing cameras in three days. I just installed the system and fallowed the quick start directions for the DVR and for my phone app and it was up and running with out needing any help my Geek son.

We purchased the 8 Channel system on Black Friday and got a great deal. The cameras are great. Each was individually boxed and had extra padding inside for protection. They were very easy to install. There are no wires showing; very clean looking after installation. And anyone can do it, you don't need an expert. The only reason I'm not rating this as a 5 star review is because we paid for expedited shipping so we would have them before we traveled out of town. After talking to Lorex about the issue, they processed the order and refunded the shipping charges. So we didn't receive them on time, but otherwise, we are very satisfied with the camera system themselves. I love the ability to view them from my smartphone while I'm away. We will definitely buy Lorex again for any future purchases.

Ordered and received the 1080P system in record time. Only problem was the System and DVR kept stopping and shutting down (powering off) the unit.
As of now, I have spent at least 6 hours on HOLD trying to get to the customer service dept to request a new unit. Got through to tech after only 90 minutes. Tech cannot issue a ticket to initiate an exchange, was told only way to happen was through customer support (ha)
Does the unit work ? Nah !
Will it work ? Who knows
Will I call customer support back ? When I a day to waste.
Kicker......Unit can't be returned until customer support issues a return order.

I decided to further go with LOREX because the technical support was good, Quality exceeded the price. On Black Friday I decided to further buy MPX88W with 8HD 1080P CAMERA AND THE COMPATIBLE DVR. Sale was huge and the saving also was huge, even though the wait times were very long, it was worth buying on Black Friday. Due to huge demand mistake happened on their end in pricing. I pointed out to operators but the problem was not solved. Then I approached the higher authorities those people understood and resolved my pricing difference. I have gained confidence in the company. They are trust worthy. I strongly recommend LOREX. THUMPS UP FOR LOREX. ALL STARS ARE FOR YOU. Would never buy lorex again. We purchased a model one up from this for a different location that we returned as we had the same problems. This is my second Lorex system. I purchase one for my work in 2008,and it has work great.I just bought a simple home lorex system a couple of weeks ago.(August 2015) So far its working very well and the cameras is really clear. It was simple to install, the only thing I wish Lorex would consider is making the cables longer maybe 90' instead of 60'. My house is cut up pretty good with high ceiling, no attic space to run the cables. I had to go out of the way with the cable to get from point A to point B. Some of the cable would not reach all the way where I wanted to put a camera, so I had to relocate the camera so it will work. Besides this small issue I would recommend Lorex systems to any one.

Works great on my iphone, I can see all 16 cameras live and flip through them.

My only complaint is that the DVR needs to have a simple digital display like the ones DVD's have, so if you are not using a screen at the location you can still know what you are doing

I had a friend come in and help me set this up and he talked to you on the phone and he said they took care of all the questions he had.  Mostly Satisfied!

Received the system quickly and I installed it without much trouble.... Then I discovered that one of the cameras wasn't working. I found a short in the wire of the camera. I'm returing the one camera as we speak. It took several emails back and forth service to finaly get a RMA number. The other issue I have is the connectivity with the internet. The software didn't work and I had to call tech support. In the end I got it going but it took several hours. All in all I happy with the system and want to add a few more cameras...
