"After using this system for three weeks now it's going back to Costco.
The main reason why I purchased this system is for its alleged capability of being viewed remotely via a smart phone. Well, after many attempts to do this with the LOREX Live iPhone app, all that you get is a vague “Username/Password Error” message. And from the reviews and comments from others on the iTunes App Store, I’m not alone.
My first inclination was to check out the Lorex web site for any firmware updates or knowledgebase articles. But every search of the model LH400 (or LH408000 as is printed on the DVR itself) only yields “No matches found.” Emails to tech support regarding this issue also remain unanswered. In my opinion their web site is 98% marketing and sales, and 2% product support.
Finally, I have to say that the software that comes with this system is very poor. For example, one of the screens in the utility to convert the video files to a format that someone without this system can view states, “After the file open convesion [sic]”, which really should be “After the conversion, open file.” .If you want something that is user-friendly, and easy to understand, and actually works like the packaging and marketing material suggests, stay away from this, and most likely any Lorex products. Also, if you don’t know how to setup port forwarding on your internet connection router/firewall, and/or don’t know what DDNS is, you may have a tough time understanding the user manual that comes with this device.``
Pros: works great as a stand-alone security system
Cons: does not work out of the box with iphone as stated, tech support does not respond to support emails, tech support web site has no info on this model
