We bought the LHV16212 bundle from Costco and it has been great.

The pros: The video quality is top notch, remote access is great, apps all work as advertised. If all cameras are configured to record on motion and the motion detection areas are set properly, the 2TB drive gives us about 1 to 1.5 months of history in full HD quality. We are able to view the video remotely on the Android and iPhone apps, and download the video to our computers as needed.

The cons: I will say that the DVR tends to run a little warm, the fans are not quiet, and the interface on the device itself about as good as the rest of the industry (which I would say is a little difficult for a non technical person to use.)

Highly recommend this bundle as it is a good value.

I purchased the LHV2216 HD bundle about a year ago, to replace a QSEE 960 resolution model and cameras. The difference in camera resolution (and night visibility) and stability of the mobile app is big, the Lorex is Much better. It takes a bit of time and a couple of iterations to set everything up, but I don't need to put the DVR in a Router DMZ to be seen anymore, the Lorex hides behind the Firewall, tunneling to it's company servers for mobile app linking. It's been running solid for the year, except this weekend, it started rebooting on it's own; I'm hoping Tech Support's suggestions work to fix it, I like the product, so I don't want to have to ship it off or replace it. 5 Star product, but -1 for the rebooting problem just after the 1 year mark.

Already been on the phone for 35 minutes just to cancel order due to wrong information given to me by tech support themselves and still no solution. I thought this was a professional company and I wrote review when they made the sale but seems to me once they sell they don't care . Now 45 minutes and still waiting to speak to supervisor. To be continued

Our apologies for any difficulty you experienced. We were happy to assist you further with this.

This is the second Lorex system that I own. I bought this to replace the older Lorex LH3481001 which had 960H resolution. Wow!!! What a difference this new system makes in resolution. This new system gives me 1080p HD quality that looks clear and super sharp during the day. One drawback is the picture gets grainy at night because there isn't enough IR LEDs to give the lens enough light when it's dark outside but the picture is still clear and sharp enough to see what's going on. The older system's cameras worked great at night because it had a lot more IR LEDs and the picture wasn't grainy at night.

The system is easy to setup and the FLIR software is great! No more port forwarding and DDNS service to deal with. I was up and running in less than an hour installing and configuring the software on a PC, iPad and iPhone. I can see all my cameras remotely and the picture quality is clear and sharp.

For piece of mind and an easy system to install and setup, I say this system is great. It's also a great price at Costco.

This is my first Lorex system that is to replace my old Q-See that could not update firmware anymore. For $700 system, I can't ask for more quality in video and hardware come with it. The problem I have is the FLIR Cloud SW installation. There are missing buttons in the very first splash screen after I double click the installation file. I have to change my laptop screen resolution several times to get those missing buttons appeared. FLIR should fix this problem so that no matter what resolution used on your computer, those buttons should be visible. Other than that, system works so well. Just follow installation Manual and install all needed SWs (on PC/MAC and smartphone) you are good to go. No needed to setup Port Forwarding, etc... as before.

This is one of the hardest security systems I have had to set up. (Third total) Instructions are only 1/2 of the information needed to do whatever the step is/was. To load onto an iPhone, it said download software, sign up tap scan, but WHERE IS THE SCAN tool? You need 2 additional steps to find it. When I went to log in, the software CHANGED my PASSWORD back to the default....... So it kept failing and I didn't know why.

The unit is VERY noisy for something that is supposed to be sitting next to a TV for a connection. I tried to build a box around it but it got to hot. So I either have to return it or live with a small engine running in the livingroom ; -((

Thank you for your feedback. We're sorry to hear you are having difficulty. Our technical support team would be happy to assist you and can be reached at 1-877-755-6739.

This is a decent surveillance set up for the money. Buyer should be aware that "full" 1080P recording is actually only 15fps for one channel and goes down as you add cameras. A bit deceiving if you are not familiar with frame rates per channel. If you are looking to actually use the playback feature look for a system that is capable of delivering 30fps at 1080P on ALL channels (camera's). This system is ok for most residential purposes. Great live video. Also, don't forget to get a ventilated lock box for the DVR so it can't be taken and destroyed.

Summary
--------------------------------
Camera/DVR Product: A+
Customer Service: A+
Monitor: 👎🏽
Installation Sub Contractors that works with Lorex : 👎🏽

The cameras are wonderful. I was shipped one defective camera and customer service sent me a replacement in a jiffy. The monitor that came with my package does not have HDMI and 1080 is not supported. The contractors that are sub contracted and work with Lorex would not come to my location to give an accurate quote.

Tips: Hire a local contractor, Buy a new monitor that supports 1080 and HDMI.

Great product. Great support. Big improvement over my old Swann system. Cameras are superior, great color and clarity. Recorder has all the features. I'm not too tech savvy, but their technician Dallas is. He set me right up. He listened to what I needed and delivered. Now I can view on my laptop too.
This is half the price of comparable systems. I live in a good area, but that's where the crooks go. I had a break-in, burglar with a gun. I wish I had this system then. Now I'm prepared.

I purchased this system to replace an older Night Owl CCTV system at my home. First off, the picture quality is EXCELLENT! A few reviews spoke about the picture quality lacking, I would recommend checking the settings, since my mobile devices default to the sub stream view instead of HD view. The difference is night and day! I am extremely satisfied with the quality of the DVR, Cameras, and system in whole. The Cloud option is worth its weight in gold alone, I have plenty of experience setting up cameras and pinholes etc.. this took all the guess work and difficulty out of the equation. I was literally up and online in minutes. One of my cameras stopped functioning properly after about a week and tech support ordered a new one and it should be here any day now.

Overall, excellent company and excellent product!

My whole family loves it. Its very easy to use and setup. We are able to watch on our phones with a free app. I feel safer knowing we have a security system. Had my son install it in one day. Love the HD quality video, easy to use on phones or tablet, in the future I can add or upgrade cameras, free app to view is great. I had to buy extra cable not long enough 100 ft. System runs very loud. Yes, I would highly recommend this product.

Awesome system! Bought it at Costco to replace an older QSee system. Setup was incredibly easy as I was able to use all my existing wires--the connectors were all the same. Love the clarity of the high def cameras and the fact that I can view them from anywhere in the world on my iPhone, iPad, Android tablet and lap top computer. The setup with the included mouse is very intuitive and the number of options are endless. It is very easy to get things up and going with the Flir Cloud. I ended up using the free DDNS service for my permanent method as it is a little faster and more reliable. I'd recommend this for anyone.

I bought my LVH2216 12 camera system to replace 2 LVH1000-8ch-systems at Costco. Installation was a breeze. I used the same cameras and wiring. I am impressed with the quality of the picture going from 720p to 1080p. It is very clear day and night. I thought that switching systems would be a problem but this was the easiest system to setup and getting started with remote viewing on my iPhone, iPad and laptop. This is my 5th system by Lorex upgrading only due to newer technologies.
This system comes with a 2TB HDD and I will be adding a second 3TB HDD for a total of 5TB of storage. Reading the online instructions looks like this is an easy project. I hope that it will be.
I would definitely recommend.

Great system and easy to install
I bought mine at Costco. Install a few days ago to replace my old system. It was easy just replaced the cameras and the DVR. I am impress with the quality of the picture. It is very clear day and night . The DVR does have fan noise but it doesn't bother me, mine is in the closet. The Flir Cloud need some improvement but overall it is a very good system. I love it.

I bought the LHV2216 system with 12 cameras from Costco to replace an 8-camera Q-See system for my home. I was able to reuse the old Q-See coax cables which I had installed in my attic, saving a lot of hard work, just adding extra cables as needed. The 1080P cameras are so superior to the old lo-res cameras I had! I love the FLIRCloud app for my PCs which allows me to view, control and playback videos without having to access the DVR which I also placed in the attic. I can even do all this while traveling since the system is in the cloud. However both the LHV2216 system and FLIRCloud app are somewhat complicated to set up and modify, despite the availability of decent manuals available online from LOREX. LOREX Technical Support is great and has helped me resolve a number of issues that weren't adequately covered in the manuals.

After just two months of operation, my DVR failed. LOREX promptly shipped me a new DVR which I have now installed and the system is back up and running again. I hope this failure was just a rare fluke.

Several people have commented that their DVR runs noisy. Mine does not.

Overall I am very pleased with LOREX and with this system. I'd have given it 5 stars except for the early DVR failure.

This system was relatively easy to set up. The hardest part was climbing around in the attic pulling cables and drilling holes through eaves. Depending on the construction of your roof you might want to have this work done by a professional. If you do it yourself, invest in a roll of fish tape or fish poles to avoid having to crawl all the way to the edge of the attic. Fish the tape through the hole you drilled from the outside far enough to easily reach it from inside the attic, then tape the cable to the end and pull it through.

The quality of the cameras are pretty good, and the recording works well. The biggest problem was lack of comprehensive instructions. The quick setup guides that come with the kit are fine if you have some idea of what you are doing. But you really need the full instruction manual to know how to configure and operate the system. The user interface is similar to, but not exactly Windows. Some of the windows have no Close button, you have to know to right-click to close them, and it makes use of numerous icons that don't have much description about them. There is no help menu built into the user interface. I finally found the full manual on the Lorex website after an extensive search (neither the model number on the box, LHV16212, or the model number on the screen, LHV2216, came up in my search, you had to somehow figure out it was under LHV2000).

Getting the sensitivity configured is a bit of trial-and-error, and if you want motion detection to work well without lots of false triggers, plan to spend a few hours experimenting. And I thought I read there was a way to back up the recordings to an offsite storage device (so you can see who broke in and stole your DVR), but if so, I haven't found it.

As others have said, the DVR is very noisy. I put it inside a cabinet that has glass doors in the front, and it is not too noisy there. I will track the temperature and drill more vent holes if necessary. Overall a nice product that would be even nicer with better instructions.

I purchased this system in August 2015. I waited a few months to have it install because I wanted to get someone to do it who would do a good job at a good price. I finally had it completed in November 2015. The picture is really clear during the day and surprisingly clear at night. One of the power adapters that connect to a bank of cameras did not work. I called Lorex and they advised me they would have one to me within five days. I will come back and post if that does not happen. I got my system at Costco and they had a $100 instant rebate.

LHV1628B with 8 cams. Very clear day and night vision. Easy to initially set up but quite complicated if you want to use all the features (I'm not very technical). The only drawback is the very loud fan noise. One BNC cable did not work.

I purchased this product from Costco on line. The best deal from Costco. This was on sale with 12 Cameras and 1 PTZ. I HOPE they will again put on sale. PTZ is excellent it does and can do all the job .Even if some thing is missing this PTZ will leave no stone unturned. I am a building superintendent AND we were having problem with underground garage car vandalism. The problem is solved. This was a large garage and I could do the wiring buy purchasing RG59 wires. works fine and the system is user friendly. At first the technical support was good but then after three months, they are just worried about closing ticket. Sales department is poor.
But for $1350 12 cameras plus 1 PTZ plus DVR HD 1080p what more you can expect. I strongly recommend this product. But clarity is little poor I cannot recognize car registration number plates. Lorex can email me if the same stuff comes on sale. I did one side with this and I have still more to do.

this is a second system I got with PTZ camera. if you don't need PTZ camera then they have cheaper system version of this and it is quite good as well.

for the longest time, I been looking to replace my ageing DVR system in my house, I was thinking going to get me some IP camera off the net and run it with Blue iris, however, with BLue iris I will need to have computer for it, but when I saw this system at a sale price at Costco, it hard to pass on. the system work really well. to my surprise it was better then expect, the camera come with the system is in plastic housing but by no mean it give bad poor picture. it had a very good color picture for the day time and BW at night . on the not well lid area. it can be seen at night but the picture is not quite good. The PTZ camera is very good with decent light. this is HD-CVI system even know it say MPX . I got some more camera off the net for this but it not as good as the one come with the system.

I Bought this system as an upgrade to a previous Lorex system ECO150 to LHV2000.The field of vision (wider angle) is better, daytime picture is better (it is HD after all) but the night time picture is phenomenal! The IR would wash out on the old system while the new one is very sharp. Previous dvr only had 8 ports which I thought would be enough but I found I wanted 9.... with the wider angle of vision I didn't need that 9th camera after all. The tails on the cameras are slightly shorter than my original cameras so a little rewiring was in order but no major project. The dvr was MUCH easier to setup for remote viewing on my smartphone. If you are looking for a good security camera system this is it! Good quality at a good price!
I love this unit because very clear in the monitor with 16 channel 1080p HD cameras.

I just replaced an edge system with this HD vs.
The old cameras work fine with this system, but the new ones are definitely have a better picture.
Will slowly replace the old cameras with new ones.

Fortunately both sets use the same wiring so that does not need to be replaced.

Hooking up the system to the internet is also easier.

I have been using a Geo Vision system for about 3 years and have been pleased with it's operation. It worked good but the video quality was lacking. After seeing this system on Costco I decided to give it a try and if it didn't work out as expected I would return it. After using the DVR and viewing the cameras out put I will say that it won't be going back.
The DVR works well and the camera output is very good. Zooming in on areas the quality is quite good and very maneuverable. Night operation is very good as well and the range of IR is more than most will need. DVR instructions are a little lacking but using the online info takes care of most all questions.
I would definitely recommend this system to anyone desiring an easy setup with quality picture.
The packaging was very good with everything well protected and and nothing missing.

I WOULD BUY THIS AGAIN.

I bought this at Costco and it seems a great value. Setup was easy and everything works great.
However as others have noted the unit is very noisy. This is disappointing as we have it in our family room so we can connect it to our 65 inch tv so we can check the cameras from that but the noise can be bothersome when watching tv shows

My biggest disappointment is that the unit does not support a wireless mouse. This makes it very impractical when I want to view the cameras on the large tv as I have to get up and walk across the room to maneuver the mouse. Being able to sit across the room and manage with a wireless mouse would be fantastic. I real.y hope you can fix this in a future software or firmware upgrade

I purchased the LHV2000 Series with 12 Cameras. The system was very easy to setup. The cameras video is clear and the FLIR Cloud App for Android works great most of the time. About 20% of the time the app crashes. The FLIR app for IPAD/IPHONE is not very clear and sometimes difficult to make out a face in the video. The DVR fan is VERY LOUD and should be placed somewhere that the noise doesn't intrude on your life. Again, VERY NOISY.

I tried to rate my review as three stars several times but Lorex will not accept any review rated less than four stars. I like the product overall but as you can see from my review above it hsa flaws.

I purchased this system at Costco. My Daughter has a Lorex system and is well pleased with it. My son-in-law installed it for me. I am very pleased with the quality of the pictures. The installation was not difficult, just a little extra time my house is a tri-level with my curves and corners. I am well pleased with everything. I purchase a small TV to view my cameras although you can use your regular TV. It is so nice to see who is at the door, or any concerns that I might have. My family really likes this system. My Garage is detached from my home and it is behind the house, so I can use the camera to see the if the door is down or anything is going on around me. I give this system 5 stars. The 1080p is really an excellent picture quality.

Got this system to upgrade my existing cameras at our vacation property. Went from 8 to 16 channels. Also from 960h to 1080p. Very easy to set up. The picture quality upgrade was much better than expected. Very happy, can't wait to watch the wild life.

I was looking to increase surveillance of my business and researched lorex. Ordered this system from Costco and haven't been disappointed yet. Have two other Samsung systems in operation and can say by far this was the easiest to get up and running on line and veiw with mobile app. Cameras are a little cheesy compared to the Samsung but video first class. I recommend so far.

I have owned a security system for several years now and was in need of an upgrade. This set fits the bill perfectly. I was able to use my current wiring and the cameras are a nice jump up. The DVR has plenty of options and features. Over all I like this set.

I was at Costco the other day and saw the Lorex LHV16212 system on display on sale for 699.99, which I felt is an excellent price for what you get with this system. I have an other, currently in use Lorex system which I installed a couple of years ago, with no problems to speak of. This new system is super sharp compare to my older system. I have hooked up only one camera temporarily to it to see the quality, and I am very pleased with it. Yes, the fan in the DVR is quite noisy. I set up the FLIR Cloud app in my Android phone, and it works pretty well, albeit a little sluggish compared to the Lorex ECO Mobile app I use for my old system. The cameras that come with this system are (ABS?) plastic housings, compared to my other Lorex cameras which have extrudes aluminum housings. I'm not saying they are any less substantial than the metal ones, because if somebody is able to "reach" either metal or plastic cameras, they can take either on out with equal ease. The only real complaint I have with this system is that the camera's connecting cable is pretty short and I am unable to mount the new cameras in place where the older ones are without bringing the feed cables further through their "pulls" to the camera. I with they were the same as the older ones, as that would make life much easier for me. The setup of the FLIR cloud is much easier than the need to set up the DDNS service which I use for my older Lorex system. OH, I also have a small "complaint with the Lorex web site, as finding the user manual and FLIR cloud software was not possible for me when I was into this item's web pages. The manual, I had to search for it on Google, which pointed directly to the manuals page, and the FLIR Cloud app, I found that on another DVR's page on the Lorex site. When I have my new system fully running and if I have any other things to mention, I will, if allowed, edit my review. All in all, despite the few negatives I mentioned, I give this system a 5 star review.

Last weekend I purchased a LHV16212 Surveillance DVR system with 12 cameras. I got it installed by 3rd Party professional who recommended me to purchase this instead of the system his sales team was selling as it was a good value for money.

The DVR gave us trouble by continuously rebooting but even on Saturday the Lorex support team was on call, who after investigation determined that it was the Hard disk failure. I returned and got another DVR which worked great when plugged on directly instead of extension chord which is apparently a known issue.

All the cameras strategically placed give great view and good quality images as anticipated.

I hope to extend the Harddisk which as one spare location in the box.

Before I forget to mention, the DVR is a bit noisy and I do not have any complaints yet.

Bought this system as an upgrade to a previous Lorex system. The field of vision (wider angle) is better, daytime picture is better (it is HD after all) but the night time picture is phenomenal! Get one!

I ordered a system of 960h quality but after a couple of days without a tracking number I called Lorex to get one and found out they were out of the system I ordered. The sales person I talked to apologized and offered me a upgrade to 1080p system, which I took. this system is a quality you would expect to find in a bank or a walmart. I can't say enough good things about this system LHV16212 or the service I received from the employs of Lorex. I would highly recommend this system and this company to family and friends.

For the longest time I've been using Swann and Q-See surveillance system. I was really not sure of trying out a different product especially Lorax. But after I got the product with the 1080 P capability. I was very impressed on how easy it was to set up and that I can view The cameras to my phone and fantastic quality. And the customer service was great. I read the reviews about customer service and they were negative. But when I called the answer quickly and assisted my every need. I'm currently going to purchase two more additional Systems and replace the old ones that I have for my other two businesses that I have. I'm very pleased and very satisfied with Lorax. You cannot beat the price nor the quality that they're offering.

This is a great system for the price. 12 1080P cameras and a 16 channel DVR. Great picture quality, easy to setup and use. I was able to use four older cameras for a total of sixteen. Now I can keep an eye on everything and check up on things while traveling.

Overall a pretty impressive unit, especially for the price, I got it for $699 (net) after Costco one hundred rebate.
PROs:
- Much improved interface over my 3 yr old DVR, this is a very big improvement over my other 2 brands
- Live viewing worked on an Ipad 2 and an Android phone in just minutes by scanning the QR code on the DVR
- The 1080P cameras are definitely much clearer than my old 480 or 700 TVL cameras
- Status lights on the front of the DVR were helpful, showing power and network were OK and hard drive was not...
- Packing on all parts was very well done
- Customer service took 15 minutes in the queue on a Saturday, but then they were very helpful (I registered the unit and uploaded my receipt before calling);
CONs:
- DVR is noisier than any other electronic device in my house
- Arrived with a dead hard drive, constant beeping clued me in to this right away
- Cameras are not adjustable for focal length, so some don't really show more detail than my older lower-resolution cameras that could be zoomed in
- Cameras not adjustable side to side more than 10 degrees or so; for example if mounted on the front wall of your house the camera will point straight out at the street. It can then adjust up and down or rotate to level it, but that's it. This might be the most surprising shortcoming of all.
- The 16 BNC connectors on DVR are absurdly close together.
Very good value at the price I paid.
Lorex shipped a new DVR very quickly, the swap-out of all the cables only took about 20 mins, including getting 2 Android phones to view by wi-fi!
The camera aiming is also more adjustable than I thought: just loosen all ALL THE JOINTS, aim where you want and tighten one joint at a time.
Just submitted a ticket for occasional DVR reboot & can?t find the series 2000 DVR PC client. This DVR and cameras have very impressive picture and much improved interface over any system I have used before. Overall now 4* from 3* based on excellent customer service

I am writing my thoughts on the LHV1628B I recently purchased and from Costco. I upgraded from a perfectly functional LOREX EDGE+ system.
PROS:
Images are very clear in 1080p at 15 fps.
The FLIR connect system was very easy to use (took 1 minute for me to set up), way easier than configuring DDNS service on my previous system.
This this is analog HD with BNC connectors, I can still use my old 480TVL BNC cameras from my old system. (Running 8 cameras HD and 4 cameras 480TVL)
Manuals and documentation are written by someone whose first language was English, thank you!
CONS:
DVR unit still is too loud to be placed in a living area, although it is quieter than my old EDGE+. A tiny 40mm fan makes a lot of noise!
Needs a fast internet connection to send data from your home network out to the web. My ADSL connection barely keeps up at 1mbps upload. (Yes, I live in the sticks!)
Other thoughts:
I don't do anything fancy with my DVR, just continuously record, so I can't speak to all the other capabilities of the DVR. Have enough cameras out now that I can surveil all angles around my home.

I bought this LVH162C8D4Z1B from Costco and it is an excellent system. The pictures are crisp and truly HD in appearance. It is by far better than my previous Lorex I had for the past 7 years ( which has been trouble free). I am hoping the same from this new system. I really trust Lorex products, there are built to last. What really I like about this new system is the Flir Cloud app. It really works!! Set up on my iPhone took less than 2 minutes. I just downloaded the app, followed the simple instructions which tells you to scan the QR code on the DVR with your phone's camera, the you're on your way. You have to set up an account first before you can connect to live viewing using the Flir Cloud app. It is really easy, no frills at all.
I have be using the app without major issues. I noticed that if the app does not connect for live viewing, just delete the app, then download again from the App Store. It happened to me once.
I also like the playback mode with this system. It is simple to use because at the bottom of the screen in playback mode, you can choose the time of day quite easily you want to review. The system also makes easier for you because it hightlights when motion activity was detected by each camera you're looking at. You choose which camera you want yo review activity with ease using a grid on far right hand corner of screen. This is system is really intuitive, and gets easier to use the more you use it.
The PTZ camera is awesome. You can do many things with it including programming the motion and field of view. The zoom/focus function is amazing. Lorex has really knocked it out of the park with this PTZ camera. I recommend it highly.
This is the best system I have seen and experienced thus far. I researched the competition out there, and plonked at specifications of the competition. Lorex is much better when seen in real life. The night time vision on these cameras are second to none. Hands down.
Get this system if you're on the fence. It is a great system .
Cheers
Zoosh

Got this system from Costco. So far I have installed a couple of cameras for testing and I am really pleased with the product. The configuration was easy and in no time I had it up and running. After I setup an account with Lorex and registered the product I was able to get the DDNS configured for easy external access. I used the UPnP feature to configure my firewall/internet router to allow access from the Internet. After that I installed the app on my iOS device, scanned the QRCode and now I can access/view the cameras from anywhere. I changed the substream for the remote access to a better codec so I could get a better resolution while using my phone. The only cons so far is the noise from the fan or hard drive. I guess this noise is common to the DVR systems as I have tested a device from Swann and the noise was at the same level. I definetively recommend this product.

I bought this system at Costco. Setup is easy. You will need to download the manual online as it does not come with one. The picture so far is great but I'm getting some ghosting so I will have to read some more to figure out why. Maybe a lower frame rate would help this. This is still a way better picture than I had.The fan on the DVR is somewhat loud but so far so good.

I easily set up 4 cameras temporarily, right out of the box. Very simple and straight forward. I was pleased with the quality of the product hardware and the picture quality is very good. Setting up in a temporary location gave me the chance to see how everything worked. The DVR has a fairly noisy fan or hard drive, so I have chosen a location in which that will not be a problem. I have one camera now installed permanently and will be installing the remaining cameras in the next couple of days. I am installing the cameras that would have exposed wires using conduit and terminating boxes to make the installation more durable. This is a residential installation.
