First DVR system for home. I have not installed it yet but have tried it out by hooking it up on the bench. Works well and is intuitive to use. I have had great success working with Lorex direct. They have been very helpful and my order was processed quickly. I previously ordered a system for work. Upon receipt I had a damaged camera and was short 2 cables. Lorex immediately took care of both issues and I had parts 2 days later. I have not tried FLIR cloud yet. I hope it works well. The reviews on the iOS app are not great.

This system has been working as expected for a week now without any issues. I believe that downloading the instruction manual prior to setting everything up is a must as it has some valuable info on important parts of the set-up procedure.
I like the quality of the whole package and the ease of installation and highly recommend this product to others thinking about a security system for home or business.

I have had this system running for a week now and it works well. Overall I find the quality of the cameras to be very good. Unfortunately I have the following issues with the system:

- The quality of the BNC cables is poor. They are unshielded and after installing them in the final location, there is a lot of noise in the picture which was not there when first testing the system. I have had to go and spend significant money on shielded cables.
- No Windows Phone app. I know it is not the most popular phone, but is the phone I have and love. This may not exclude a huge percentage of customers, but it excludes me which is a problem when I have paid good money for the system.

This is my 3rd camera system that I have for my house. The second system I added was a Lorex and it was so much easier to set up and more user friendly than my first system. So when my first DVR quit after 5 years I replaced it with this Lorex system.

Excellent quality system for the price. Even the lower end cameras are sharp and clear. System is easy to set up. Expansion options are attractive--overall, probably the best security hardware source.

Tech support is very good, but Customer Service is lagging. No response to an email ticket for a defective cable. I have spent three phone sessions on hold of over 30 minutes with no answer. System would not accept call back number until third try. Agent did call back within 5 hours...

Camera system seems to be decent so far. The plastic concerns me a bit on the mount but I guess we will see what -30c here does to it as it is rated for it.

**Great product at a great price**

I own a small business that only required 2 cameras and this fit my needs perfectly.

If you are fairly good with your hands, you'll find this system easy to moderate to install.

HD 720p cameras are clear and crisp. I was pleasantly surprised to find the cameras had a built in light which illuminates the room when you need to view at night.

Software i would rate 3.5 out of 5, no big issues but it could be a little more user friendly.

remote viewing from app on my phone is a plus

Having no experience and after doing a LOT of research, decided to go with this system. High priority on being able to view on a separate dedicated monitor vs using my phone or iPAD.
Ordering was easy, package came right on time, well wrapped and all equipment in great condition. System works GREAT! Absolutely exceeds my expectations. Day vision is crystal clear and night is VERY good. I can see down my 60ft driveway with ease, and in fact all the way across the street which is a few hundred yards away. Viewing angle is WIDE. System is very sensitive, you need to play with the many customizable settings. My biggest problem so far is that moths are setting off the motion detection constantly, so I guess in some way, that's a good thing. It's very sensitive. The remote viewing apps for my phone and computer work very well as well. I can call up a live picture on my phone via Wi-Fi OR cellular and it comes up very quickly. One small issue is I only have two cameras and there is not a two camera viewing option, it goes from one, right to four . All in all I am VERY happy with this system, especially for the price. Also, the price dropped a few days after my purchase. I called and got the difference refunded immediately. That was my only experience with service so far and it was very good.

This is the second system I have purchased from Lorex. The HD cameras have a very nice picture and the operating system is very easy to use. My only issue is when anything goes wrong, customer service isn't the best. Be prepared to wait a long time on the phone. They always got back to be with any issue I had, but it took a while. In a world of instant gratification, this will drive many nuts.

Lorex camera's are ok but customer service sux they are very very rude and have no idea what they are talking about. Than to top it off there mobile flir app (which is the only app to view camera's over mobile device) only works over wifi. App will not work at all if on 3g,4g or 4glte. So ppl if your considering lorex DONT! They dont care about there customers

I bought this to keep an eye on a vacation home. So far so good I can pull up a good image on my smart phone. Set up was easy with the exception of the hot attic. The DVR is loud and seems to run hot, even though the fan noise is unreal. Much louder than a computer. Have to read deeper into the downloadable manual to take full advantage of this products capabilities.

24 out of 58

Product shipped on time and arrived defect free. Set-up is fairly easy although running the wires to your camera locations can be challenging. The software is fairly mature, offering a lot of options to tune the cameras and system behaviors. It is a little quirky in some areas but overall fairly intuitive. The manual has to be downloaded from their site. It is fairly well written compared to Lorex competitors, but lacks detail in certain areas (e.g. sensitivity and threshold adjustments). Motion detect email notification is impractical as it triggers frequently on outdoor cameras (bugs, birds, lighting changes, wind moving objects, etc). The daylight images are pretty good, not quite what you think when you hear 720p, but they are acceptable. Night time images are pretty good considering. You can see pretty good 35ft from the camera. Biggest issue with this unit, and something you hear about regardless of the manufacturer, is the fan noise is ridiculous. Really should loose 2 stars just for that. You want this unit around a TV or computer, which means in an area around people. You really can't enclose it because of heat dissipation. So not only is it not environmentally noise friendly, it also sits there and screams 'here I am' should someone get in your house and realize you have a surveillance system. This should be no more noisy than a computer, but it is WAY noisier than a computer. Be aware should you decide on installing one of these systems.

Great product. I just wished I would have bought the one with 4 or 6 cameras instead of 2. One problem is, if it's not an HD 720 camera it won't work with system.

Received my system a couple of days after I ordered online. It took a while because Lorex was waiting on a part, but no complaints. Item received in perfect order, no damage to the box, came with all the supplied items, and a quick installation guide. Hardware installation took a day and a half which was easy, the internet connection took a while to figure out. Internet hook up very vague, no direction as to setting up an online Lorex account, or setting up DDNS via the Lorex website, pretty much figured it out on my own. Can't complain about picture quality during the day, nighttime is a bit challenging but it does the job.
This is my first security cam system and no problems thus far. Ordered 2 more cameras via Amazon.

Product is ok, but Lorex service is so bad that I encourage you to consider another supplier.

I have tried for 4 days to have Lorex replace the wrong cable that Lorex shipped with this unit order. I used their Ticket System and tried to reach Lorex by phone without success.

Now I will try to send everything back. Let's see how difficult Lorex makes that...

My order took a lot longer than expected, cables where on backorder but the website said in stock at the time of purchase. over all the security system was very easy to install. The picture quality isn't like an HD movie you would watch on tv. Not a bad system for the price.

My order shipped very quickly and arrived on time. Installation of this product was very easy. I was able to install the DVR in a hidden location and extend the USB and HDMI cables to my TV in my den. The video quality is excellent and the night vision picks up very good detail even in complete darkness. Connecting to the FLIR cloud was very easy and makes remote access very convenient too. I would recommend this video system to anyone wanting a high quality HD system on a limited budget.

Received my HD system on Friday, May 1st. Set the system up on Saturday. Had a little problem, but called support and it was resolved. I connected the system to a 1080P HD 50" Sony TV, and got a no signal or invalid mode error.
The system is shipped set up for VGA. Tech told me to connect with and VGA cable, go to set up, and change settings to 1080. The set up was very easy with the mouse.
I connected the cameras and the picture is great, both day and night. I only purchased a two camera system, but will order an additional two more. The system will support up to eight cameras.
So far I am very pleased with this system. Looking forward to setting up computer and IPhone to system. Support said to call them if I had any problem setting them up

I'm so happy that I decided to purchase this system. We've never had any kind of surveillance at our home songs to be honest never needed it but when constantly hear stories of vandalism and theft it's a no brainer. It was easy to install if you are the slightest bit handy. There only skills you need is using a drill to run the wire. Once the wires and cameras are finished its pretty much plug and play. The system fired right up and began recording. I monitor on my iPhone and even ran an gnu to our 60"television to keep an eye on things when we are watching tv. I highly recommend this product. The resolution is amazing and night vision is awesome.

I bought this system for peace of mind while me and my wife are away from home. This system was a breeze to install and setup. The night and daytime video is just awesome and clear with high detail, I still can't believe the coverage and distance these cameras have to offer. Wish I could add a wireless camera to this setup, this is the only down side I have experienced to date.

I bought this system to replace an older Lorex system I have at my home. I desired better resolution in my system. The price was fantastic! Although I thought some of my older cameras, because they had the same connection, would work, they do not because this is a different video type over coax. No big deal, just need to replace the cameras. The higher resolution is totally worth it! The interfaces, on the system, on the web, and using FLIR on the mobile device, are amazing!

I purchased this system because I couldn't beat the price for HD with 1 TB of storage. With only 2 cameras running, I can record constantly with no problems. The system set up was super easy. I'm running the video through a HD 720 monitor and the picture looks great night or day. The app was really easy to configure and works well on my android phone. It's only been running for a day but as far as the product goes, I love it and would definitely recommend it!

This system is awesome. I"ve got it connected using a powerline network system and can view it using my home computer, iPad, and android phones. The picture quality is great. You can easily read license plates in front of your home (my driveway is about 25 feet long or so to the road). I took a few pictures and saved them to send to some neighbors. All of my neighbors are now interested in this system. If you have the money, definitely go to a 1080p system for further definition. I was worried that the included 60 foot cables weren't going to be long enough to run them to where I wanted the DVR to sit, but I have a whole lot of leftover cable. Very impressed.

This is the same second system I bought in the past month. Everything works as expected. I like the fact that the wired cameras are able to withstand the -30's degree Celsius cold temperature here in Manitoba in the past few weeks. All in all, a great security system. I would recommend it especially to people living in cold weather like myself.

Great value for a pretty easy plug n play system. 720p is great for surveillance and general monitoring. If you need clearer picture like for license plate numbers go with the 1080p. All the scheduling was already set up well, didn't need any fiddling from me.

Weird problem with the flir cloud mac application is that it doesn't recognize the password - even though the iphone app works fine with the same credentials.

Either way the free DDNS option is great so you can view it anywhere - this requires a little setup on the system itself but its not that difficult. I will say when contacting support definitely pick the callback option.

I had a cheap unit prior to this that had extremely poor resolution. I recently had my car window broken and the video was too poor for police to use. After browsing I found this unit at Costco's website. Its amazing how clear it is. Its a pain to run the wires, but since I already had 4 ran, I only needed 2 more and the hdmi cable. The Flir was a breeze, I used a wireless ethernet box originally for my Xbox and it hooked up flawlessly. When accessing the app abroad, there is maybe a 3-4 second delay and if on your own wifi there is zero delay (less than one second). I highly recommend this unit for the sub $600 price; I could not be happier. Customer service is real, and nice.

The camera clarity is great. It is my first system so take that for what it is. The interface is easy to use. Flir cloud is easy to setup with my device. Lost a star because the connection is hit or miss. Sometimes I try to connect and it says timed out. Im sure its an app thing not a system issue though. Overall even if I cant check the app Reviewing old footage is great. The motion indicator on saved video makes it very easy.

I bought this product off the shelf at Costco after doing some research and liking what I was reading. I am pleased with the purchase and would rate this product with 5 stars, but I am having issues/problems with a single camera only 4 days after purchase. If the support team comes through, then I will be updating this review with more stars.

The initial install was easy and the setup was fairly straight forward. The box did not have the full manual in it, only the quick install pictures. However, the full manual in PDF is available in the download section on the website. I highly recommend getting this PDF and using it. The quick install papers got me up and running, but the manual made setting up the LAN and external monitoring easier as well as explaining some of the settings on the menu. The QR code setup worked for my android tablet, but not the Iphones. I ended up using the IP to identify the system and setup the Iphones. I am using almost all of the features available and have the system setup for viewing from multiple sources. The only thing that would have made this easier is if the system had WiFi capability. Can only be LAN setup with hardwire CAT5 to the hub. The LAN setup was actually very easy once I had the cable run.

The menu and user interface takes some getting used too. The usage of right and left clicks didn?t make sense at first, but once I started using it, became easier. The user interface menus look and navigation could use a little work and be more GUI friendly, but they are functional and once I realized where to look for things it became easier to locate items. The playback menu is based on time and could use a slider to move across the video, but the recordings are all there and can be transferred as needed using the USB.

Having used a 700TVL system, this camera image quality and record quality are incredible. The night vision is much better and doesn?t white out like other systems I have seen.

I am having a problem with one of the cameras not staying in night vision mode. I have submitted a ticket and will wait for a response. As long as the customer support helps with that issue, then I will have no complaints about this system.

At this point, I would recommend this system, even with the one camera issue. For the price, the quality of picture can?t be beat.

"Bought this product at Costco after one of my neighbors was burglarized. After I installed it, I realized that if I'd had it when it happened, I would have been able to read the license plate four houses down the alley. The picture is that sharp.

The package is pretty complete, if you don't have a long run between a camera and the DVR. I have a long, narrow home, so I had to order a 120 ft cable for the front street camera to reach the DVR, but the 60 ft cables were sufficient for the rest of the house, inside and out.

HD picture quality is outstanding, including night vision acuity. The DVR software is very user friendly, and with a little playing around, is easy to navigate.

With 8 HD cameras, the 1 TB DVR is good for about 4 1/2 days, and if there is an incident that needs to be reviewed, the motion sensor designator in the footage makes it easy to find and download (no sitting through hours of footage to find what you're looking for). The fast and slow motion features make it even quicker to find what you're looking for.

The system is remotely accessible though the internet, so you can monitor and/or download footage as necessary if you are away from home.

Wish I had had this installed when my neighbor was burlarized. It would have assisted the local law enforcement in determining vehicle traffic and identification, number and description of perpetrators (and quite possibly identities), and given them leads on resolving the case and recovering their possessions."

I just picked up the LHD818 a day ago. At first I was blown away by the size of the cameras and the weight of each one. The plastic feel did not seem as solid but I am sure its been tested to be sturdy. Hardware setup was a breeze and upon boot, I noticed the system came up right away. The first few cameras stood out and started to notice some imperfections on each camera. Some cameras were blurry and some sharp. I noticed one camera was completely out of focus and camera lens was probably no adjusted. I wrote an email to tech support and hopefully get an answer on the repair. The software seems to have limitations such as only being able to see 4 channels on playback at once. All 8 could not be pulled up at once. FFWD and RWD is not fast to process. Digital Zoom is a bit difficult to use. Not yet tested the mobile or remote access. It's terrible that no other camera can be connected to this DVR as well as the 720P camera cannot be connected to another DVR. So the system is completely proprietary. Scary if something were to fail especially with a 1yr MFG warranty. Today I received an email indicating if I write a review I can recieve a 2nd yr FREE warranty which is a plus. Still they need to correct the bugs mentioned including the limited hardware replacements. I looked up the 720P cameras and I see them sold in pairs but no price. I found them on ebay for $238 for 4 and $89 for 1. Overall with a day and 1/2 of playing with it I am impressed with the quality, playback, easy setup, small/lightweight cameras and its distance is fairly good. Night mode will be tested shortly. So far if there are any lights around it seems to make areas darker in non-illuminated areas. I will need to test placement.

I purchased this system from our local store after reading a lot about the new 720p over analog cameras and the bang for buck! I found the installation of the system (other than crawling around in my attic) to be extremely simple. Lorex has taken the guess work out of connecting to your system remotely and "even a caveman can do it". We have ours connected via our Android phones, our iPads and even from our home PC. We installed the system in a secure closet and rarely even login at the dvr, almost always remotely. If I was able to make one change it would be the option to add a second hdd. Not just for more recording time, but if one failed, it would be nice to have a backup hdd just incase.

Picked this up from Costco. Setup was easy. The BNC connections are difficult to connect due to not enough spacing between the plugs. Camera resolution is very good. I like the zoom capability. Haven't had it long but I think it is a keeper. The FLIR download for the Mac doesn't work and there is no documentation on the website. I called and was informed that I need to upgrade my OS to download and extract the program. Never had any issue downloading and extracting programs even if it won't execute. Website needs to provide Mac compatibility and instructions.

I purchased this system from local store after I saw that system demo in the store . I am amazed with the product and camera resolution. It is very easy to set it up and view local LAN and over internet WAN. I have configured to access it over LAn/WAN/iPhone app and they all worked great. I strongly recommend this product to anyone, as a matter fact lots of my neighbor want to buy this system after I installed and show it to them. I had slight issue with WAN setup and called Lorex tech support which is very knowedgable and assisted me since my work had firewall blocking the port preventing WAN connectivity but I had alternate way to access from my work PC.

System works as advertised. Video images are very good and many more features than expected. Most important is the service which earns 5 stars for their 7 days coverage and a very patient staff to get me initially setup. Could not get my TV monitors connected but was flawless with a PC monitor. Internet access to iPad was easy to set up and will be a great tool for remote viewing. Relatively new product so there might be some hidden glitches but not to concerned because of the good support. My system is up and running.
