Hardware appears to be of good quality and easy to get setup. However once plugged in and connected a bit of a different story. First I was a programmer to end users for many years and had I delivered a programming interface like this I would have been kicked to the curb. No contact sensitive help to be found anywhere, selections are buried in unobvious places. What little documentation there is, is incoherent and/or incorrect. I spoke with Sales prior to purchase and specifically asked for a Mac (El Capitan) compatible system, which could view both live and historical data via Safari. This is the system they recommended. After a frustrating day of searching inadequate instructions and following broke links, I called tech support to find the safari plugin that would allow me to view the cameras. Well after about an hour with tech support, I was told that the plugin for this model did not exist. However both the sales department and the included documentation gave instructions and even a (broken) link to the safari plugin.

Now having said all that, I probably will not be returning the system because there is another solution to view and playback the cams using Mac. Using the FLIR Cloud app for Mac works just fine. Since there is no real discussion of this in the included docs, nor on the web site for this model you will need to call into tech support to get access to the Mac client software for a different model.

Perhaps a firmware upgrade will make this system a bit more user friendly

Thank you for your feedback. We apologize for any difficulty you may have experienced. Our technical support team was happy to phone you back and answer all of your questions. Flir Cloud software is what you need to use on your Mac. Should you require further assistance, please call us at 1-877-755-6739.

Great product. We got everything installed in about a day. We set up 8 cameras and used the family room TV for the monitor.

We had one issue and one complaint. One of the cameras works for daytime but the night vision function is broken. I'll be sending i back for repair / replacement. The complaint is the DVR is noisy - it is the fan making all the racket, so potential buyers should be aware that you will need to place the unit somewhere to isolate he noise.

The functionality of the software is great. I like being able to check from my phone and tablet. Using the DVR with the monitor is great - picture quality is outstanding.

My one disappointment is that the cameras are plastic and don't look like they will last. We will keep an eye on the wear, but we mounted all of the outdoor cameras in sheltered locations (under soffits) so I hope that helps.

The best thing about this system is the price for the functionality. Great value.

Received the LHD168 security system within 5 days. Set the system up in my garage for testing and all went well out of the box.

This is my second Lorex system. The first ran well for 5 years with only having to replace one camera. The 60 foot long camera cables made the installation a lot easier. Image quality is great.

Easy set up with FLIR on my android, but having remote issues with my PC. Trying to work things out with tech support.
So far I'm pleased with this product.

Mine is actually the LHV828 or LHV2008 - it's the 8 channel, 8 camera system from Costco with the 1080p cameras.

Setup was easy, the ability to use the existing cabling from the Swann system I replaced made it a lot faster! I was surprised to find that the Lorex cameras are plastic instead of metal like other systems.

It seems like both the cameras and the system itself is a little finicky upon initial use, and require a burn-in or runtime to get to proper function. (there was a lot of sensitivity to interference, etc.) After a couple days everything settled down.

The UI is okay once you find out what the details are and how to operate. It's a bit slow to react at times however. Swann definitely did a better job in this area.

Now that the system has stabilized, the only real remaining gripe would be that the DVR does not have the capability to stretch or shrink the actual display signal, this means on my HDTV (which also does not have an adjustment for this) some of the data is beyond the viewable area of the monitor. Besides cutting off the view of the camera, it also means I have to guess what I am clicking on offscreen. A real drag there! I'll have to buy another monitor, so there goes the savings by using Lorex. With that added expense, I wonder if I should have purchased a more expensive security system in the first place!

I'm hoping this setup will run fine for a while, and I don't end up having to replace it any time soon. Time will tell.

Ordered the 6 camera system and they shipped me the 8 camera system so before I opened the box things were already going well. Opened the box and everything was working so started the install. It takes a bit of time to run the cables but installed all 5 cameras outside - in some pretty exposed locations. It doesn't mention this but I took the time to weatherproof the power and BNC connections at the camera as they were exposed to the weather (going on 3 weeks sun/rain/wind and no problems). Cameras connected to the DVR immediately. Definitely takes a bit of time to get the all the settings correct. Record and playback work great, only complaint is no pause button for playback, at least none that I can find. Set up the FLIR Cloud and connected with the app for remote viewing. This was the thing I read people were having issues with but using the bar code on the top of the DVR and my phone as a reader it was simple, literally took 3 minutes. I did have a bit of trouble getting the email alerts to work. Directions in the manual aren't great but after a call to customer support and about 15 minutes I was good to go. The DVR fan is a bit loud, so just take that into consideration when installing. Picture quality on the cameras is as advertised, very good 720P quality. Night vision is ok, my cameras are in some pretty dark areas so not much to see unless my motion lights turn on but even night vision scopes need some light to work. Overall I'm pleased so far. Still getting used to the app and tweaking settings but I would say it's a good product for the money and would purchase again.

I purchased the 8 channel HD system after doing lots of research into camera systems. The system arrived in perfect shape with all the components. I set up the system in my basement to make sure everything worked properly prior to installing it. The system was easy to set-up and worked very well from day one. I did have to call the Lorex tech team several times because the online manual instructions were not as "clear" to me as they could have been.

I will say that the Tech team has people that are very helpful and a few that really should not be there, but overall they are very helpful. The Flir Cloud was easy to set-up on my home and office computers and my iPhone6. My only suggestion to Lorex is to re-write the manual to be more friendly for the first time user as often times the screen shots in the manual did were not the same as on the system.

I have recommended the system to several friend and neighbors and relation.

Great price for the system considering everything you get and the fact you can double the cam count thanks to the DVR having 16 channels. Easy setup with the FLIR app on my iPhone and the cloud software on my Mac.

Easy to aim cams (much easier than the dome cams) but the housings feel really cheap and they are very lightweight. Hopefully they stand up to the weather.

The wiring that was included is adequate but seems flimsy and low quality - I think the picture quality would probably be better with a higher quality cable.

Speaking of picture quality it is alright but I'm not convinced it is HD 720p. The wide 90 degree field of view is nice but certainly is part of the issue with the picture quality not being the best.

I got this product LHD168 on August 19, 2015. The only hard work was running the cables. The setup was very easy. Image quality is perfect. Connecting to iPhone is very easy. So far, I am very happy with this product.

Overall, I'm very pleased. Image quality is much better than I expected. Running the cables was a bit of a pain, but that's a characteristic of my attic, not this system. Installing the cameras (once the cables were run) was easy. Setup was simple. A few minutes of fiddling with the settings and I had it set up the way I wanted. Connecting remotely is dead simple. I only have one complaint, and that's that the base unit that contains the hard drive is surprisingly loud. I would buy it again.

I purchased this system (16channel HD with 8-720p cameras) for a good friend of mine and this system works great. This was my 2nd HD system that I purchased and I have nothing but good things to say regarding the crystal clear clarity of camera resolution, the ease of installation and Customer Service / Tech Support were very friendly and helpful.

This is a supplementary review to my review submitted on May 7, 2015...

The Cameras and recorder work Great. The picture quality is true to the representation by Lorex. The search feature is excellent.

I have been attempting to activate the DDNS for about a month. It takes a great deal of time and has not resulted in successful activation.
The online help/customer support does nothing to assist. I fear that I will have to result to calling Lorex customer support line and spend an eternity on the line before I get any response...I hope that I can get this feature working and if so I hope that it works as well as the system has so far.

I bought this as a replacement system for our vacation house. The HD system is a nice upgrade to the prior 960h system we had. Good images, very easy to set up and the flir remote view was very easy to set up and works great. One very nice enhancement is the ability to zoom in on live viewing. I do wish it worked with the prior client software as we have a different Lorex system on our primary home and now I need to apps on my phone to access both systems. The only complaint I have is the unit runs quite loud. I had to move it to a more enclosed location than where the prior unit was as it was very noticeable. Other than that, it works great and is highly recommended.

This is the second system purchased from Lorex. The set up was very easy with Flir Cloud. The picture quality is very good and much better than the old system. My only reservations are that when purchasing direct from Lorex online, I talked to the Lorex Sales people ahead of time. I asked if my old cameras could be used with the new system. They answered that they could, but I just wouldn't have the HD quality from the old cameras. After receiving the unit, I found out the cameras are not compatible. I now must run two systems to cover the areas I want, or purchase more HD cameras. That aside, I am very happy with the system and the technical support I was given during set up.

I purchased the end of 2014 and due to a rough winter was finally able to install these about a month ago. I already had a previous Lorex system (960h cameras) so it was a simple swap of the DVR and cameras. Picture is great and remote viewing is great. The only change that I'm not fond of is the new client software for my PC, but the system itself is solid.

I purchased this product on line on Apr 13 and subsequently required to contact customer service. This was a FRUSTRATING exercise. Once I got through, there was not less than a 40 minute wait on hold with a looping message about their quick shipping and customer service. I eventually had to make 3 calls to customer service with one wait 52 minutes. The shipping did not occur until 8 days after my purchase. However, due to the delay, the Lorex customer service person automatically elevated the order to free expedited shipping with overnight delivery.
Upon receipt of the product, it was packaged very well. I am disappointed that the included cables are not in-wall rated and are only 60 ft. I required a full set of longer in-wall rated cables in order to accommodate my installation configuration.
The components are compact and I did a test setup. The picture quality seems to be pretty good and the recorder playback seems of great quality.
I have a concern with the strength integrity of the camera shells and mounting bases. I installed two cameras directly onto brick and they seem brittle/fragile/delicate. Be mindful of this when marking the mounting holes and subsequently tightening the screws. Everything required for installation is included in the box. I question whether they will withstand the demands of our harsh winter weather.
I look forward to seeing how the system performs over an extended period of time once completely installed.

I purchased this camera system(LHD-168) to replace an existing brand 480i resolution camera system.
I always do my research before buying anything and Lorex really stood out versus any other brands their technology is so much better then any other brand I have looked at and i must say I am very impressed with this system.
The overall functions of the system are very easy to use the cameras or crystal clear even at night time in total darkness and have a very wide viewing angle versus my other camera System. The app for your smart phone works great!!!! the app itself has low ratings from the app store but I must assure you it works great I have had no trouble at all with the app on my IPhone 6+.

I think a lot of the low reviews are due to the app not being setup correctly. If you have any trouble at all call in to the support line to get them help you set up the app Setting like i did sometimes you may have to call back to get the right person to talk to that is a little bit more knowledgeable on the problem and that knows how to help you but after i had to do that i was up and running . Some people have slow Internet speeds like me at 1st and the app will not work for them and I think that's why the app is rated the way it is but there is a fix for that in the settings of your DVR so that you can stream Live video smoothly again you just have to call in to the support line for help with that.

I love the system and i have already sold one of their systems to one of my good friends and now i have another friend it's ask me questions about my system I wish they had hey referral program setup lol. But if you buy this system you definitely won't be disappointed i highly recommendation to buy this system

We purchased this system as a Christmas gift for the household. We found the installation instructions very clear and easy to follow. The cameras were mounted without a problem. We found the cameras adjust to the changing light. Images are clear. Night vision just a clean and clear as daytime vision. We are very pleased with the system and would recommend it.

We purchased this system because we are very familiar with the Flir Company and we weren't disappointed. This camera system was easy to install, the night vision is fantastic and has the ability to add cameras when we need them. Very impressed with the packaging and how quickly we received our order. Purchased the LHD168 system back in December. My son n law and I installed it first week of January. It was very easy to install and set up all we had to do was reset the resolution. I read many reviews on all the other brands and did comparisons. Lorex stood out to me above and beyond all others. It is very clear day and night. Lorex makes a great system and I am looking forward to getting many years of service out of it.

The product came in quick and packed very neatly with seals to know that it is new and not used or tampered with. I had an old defender camera set with 400 TVL and it was pretty good but this set is superior compared to my old one. The night vision is very clear and they really dont speak on the much but it is. The app takes a little time to get use to but it is well worth it as you can view all your camera and even do playback on your app.

You get a lot of bang for your buck with this unit and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is on a budget and wants great security at an affordable price.

This is a great system with good quality cameras. I like that the system comes with a 12 port DVR box so if you need to add more cameras in the future this is possible. Also if one camera port ever died you could change the camera in put to another camera location.
Great 2TB large hard drive and I was told by tech support its upgradable to a 4TB Hard drive double what it came with. If upgrading I would recommend you get the WD 4TB Purple hard drive specifically made for Surveillance systems like this.
Great ability to view cameras remotely, and follow the instructions provided and everything went smoothly. Note when setting up the remote view do it at the location (house/place) you want to monitor, or the DDNS (IP monitor) service might be setup with the wrong house.

I am very impressed with the system. Installed very easily and this package has more than enough cameras to cover my entire home. After reading the reviews, I was a bit concerned about running the wires together in a bunch from the cameras to the receiver, but there was no problem whatsoever. The cables are insulated sufficiently so that there is no interference from them running together. It has been down to -30 degrees celcius already, and no concerns with camera performance in the cold. I am also very impressed with the quality of the image with little to no light. I would highly recommend this package for home security needs

I bought LHD818 online. The price was great. The quality of the system is superb at this price range. The video and snapshot images (you get from emails) are much better than the older VTL900 cameras. You could recognize a person 20 feet away during the day. The installation was simple. No issues. The installation of FLIR Cloud on my Galaxy s4 was easy too. And it works well. I do have an issue with the remote which doesn't work with the DVR. I also haven't been able to setup a WORKING DDNS. I have submitted a ticket to Lorex online and hopefully the two issues will be resolved soon. And I agree with the other reviewer on the noise of the DVR. Too loud. I have to keep it in the cabinet with doors tightly closed but I could still hear the noise at quiet night. Overall, I highly recommend this system.

The set up was reasonably easy, the camera clarity, color rendition, field of view and mounting are excellent. The FLIR system was a problem for me. It would occasionally connect, but the majority of the time it would not connect. This was a problem with both an Iphone and Ipad. This leads to my biggest problem Lorex, support. I tried calling the support line several times and the automated message told me I had a 40 minute wait time. Same response at different times of the day on different days. I bought the unit at Costco and they have a concierge service to help customers, so I decided to try that. The Costco tech answered the phone within a couple of minutes, I told him what I had done and tried and we quickly went to problem resolution. We weren't able to get the FLIR to work smoothly, so we ended up creating a URL connection and also a ddns connection, both of which are working perfectly. This service from Costco was great and turned a bad customer support experience into a good one. For me, the FLIR is a great idea that didn't work. Everything else about the product meets my expectation, but not being able to get to a person for support from Lorex leads me to rate this product a 3. If Lorex had the same quality of support as Costco, I would have rated it a 5.

I bought the LHD818 system online. This is my 2nd set. The first one I bought quit recording after only 3 days so I returned it to Costco and bought another one. I had the Foscam wireless security camera before buying this Lorex set and had nothing but frustrations with the Foscam. Video quality on the Foscam is poor, very choppy and signal keeps dropping off the line. So time for wired connection and HD quality. Saw this Lorex kit from Costco, bought it and extremely happy with it. Installation is very easy and picture quality is top notch for each and every one of the eight cameras. They all worked the first time. Easy set up also for my Samsung S3 android phone for remote viewing. Just follow the instructions. My only complaint is the noisy fan. I have all quiet computers at home and the fan noise on the Lorex DVR is horrible.... Lorex, please spend an additional $10.00 and install a super quiet CPU fan on your DVR's. Overall, this is the best security camera set I have owned so I will still give it a 5 star. This is my 2nd set. The first set I bought stop

Not very happy right now. I have three cameras that are having problems. One will not go into black and white. One cuts out after several hours. One flickers... three out of eight. It also seems that one of the inputs on the back of the DVR unit is sensitive to how you hook it up. If you wiggle it, it cuts out that camera. Hopefully they will warrantee the defective cameras. Time will tell...

For the bang for the buck the LHV1000 is a great system. Easy to install, easy to program and setting up the remote viewing was a snap. The alerts are fast and simple to use. With a little time on fine tuning it is a great tool to see who or what is at your place while you are away.

I just purchase the LHD818 system online last week and installed it at my shop this last weekend. I am very happy with the easy installation and picture quality of each and every one of the eight cameras. They all worked the first time. The easy set up for the remote viewing from my Droid phone was simple to get up and running and that worked the first time as well. ( I guess its time to read the instruction now...). I'm am a very happy customer. Thank you Ron

The cameras have great clarity and are easy to install and requires only one drill hole. This system replaced the Zmodo that I've had for months and was very difficult to figure out. I finally gave up and purchased this Lorex LHD818 system online The system came with a mouse and a remote. It's a great system and the software has pull down menus to help make selections easy. I was able to link into my cell phone and pc immediately. The system works nicely with a 24" monitor screen (purchased separately) for excellent views of all 8 cameras. I would highly recommend this system to anyone interested in a top rate security system.

I purchased this system after looking for the most bang for the buck. I believe I found it. I purchased online when It was on sale. It came with 60 foot cables which I wired on the outside of the house. This was necessary because I have no attic space. I put the wires in conduit wherever the cables came down the wall. Some of the 60 foot cables weren't long enough so I purchased 100 footers from a vendor on Amazon. They worked great. The Flir software is ok. I did set up my DDNS account on the website and with a quick talk through with tech support I was up and running. The quality of the daytime image is excellent and the night vision is good but it depends on the amount of ambient light. If you have street lights that will serve you well if not, then the images are dark and hard to discern. The software works just fine on ios8. The only difference is, when setting up your iphone, instead of scanning the QR code you have to enter the numbers and letters from the code manually. I found Lorex tech support to be great and very helpful.

Bottom line is I believe I got what I paid for, but just barely (it was on saleonline; it's the cheapest 8 camera system I've seen). The unit has all the necessary functions including the ability to filter which parts of the image are used for motion detection which greatly reduces false alarms. The picture quality is good as long as the cameras are mounted properly. On the negative side the worst thing are the RF connectors, a slight nudge one way or the other and you loose video - I strongly encourage taping over the connectors especially if they are put in a hard to reach location. I tried to hook up to a 720p TV with HDMI but the unit puts out 1080 by default so had to dig out a PC monitor with a D-sub connector in order to change the settings for my TV to work. My mouse needs to be "de-bounced", it often clicks twice when I only press it once; even with it set on the slowest speed. The menus are a bit of a nightmare to follow; they are not intuitive (for example one has to select "search" instead of "playback" to view recorded video). Setting up motion detect requires going to several different menus; complicated enough that Lorex had to write a FAQ on how to do it. The menus on the DVR, on an iPhone, on a Tablet, and on a PC/Mac are all different - takes just that much longer to get it all working. It's confusing enough that I don't yet know how to playback multiple cameras all synched with the same time; I probably just need to study the manual more. All of the cables are too short; the Ethernet and HDMI cables are unusable in my situation and the 80' camera cables were just long enough but only because I have the DVR in a central location with easy access to attic and crawl space. The camera adjustment screws are small and easy to strip so be sure and be careful with them. While unit will back up over USB it would be nice to also be able to backup over Ethernet. I hope the cameras last long as 4 replacement cameras cost more than the system I bought (a DVR with 8 cameras) - almost tempted to by an extra system just in case but I'm on a budget, that's why I got this system.

Overall pretty pleased. Purchased online and quickly unboxed. Items are package extremely well. Setup pretty easy, though running wire was difficult due to my home's configuration (tight crawl spaces in the attic were difficult to reach). A couple of the wires could have been 100 ft vs. the standard 60 ft, but easily remedied by buying longer wire at your local electronics store. Be sure to download the 175 page manual from Lorex's website. Directions included in the box are very limited and overly simplified. Many people have complained about being unable able to get the Flir Cloud to work with their iPhone 6 or ios 8. While it did take me awhile, had a thoroughly read the directions from the downloaded manual or the directions on the Lorex's website it would have taken less than 30 secs, once the app was downloaded. The Key is SETUP YOUR DDNS ACCOUNT ON THE WEBSITE FIRST before attempting to load Flir Cloud on your iPhone.

We had this installed this past weekend and so far the system is great. The mobile app is working as it should and has a terrific push notification function. The system is sensitive enough to send me a notice even from flies flying past the camera. On windy days it may be a slight nuisance as tree movement also triggers the notices, but all in all this is a great system and really brings us piece of mind when away from home.

These cameras have excellent picture quality. Mobile app worked very first time. This is the first system I have purchased and installed. I did a lot of research before deciding on the Lorex system and do not regret my purchase.

Replaced my Swann system. Night and day difference. Swann had a command line user interface circa 1980 and phone app NEVER worked. Lorex user friendly GUI was far superior and HD over analog picture quality put the Swann system to shame.

I really like the system because the cameras are really clear, system is easy to set up. I had a Qsee system that was ok, but it did compare to this one and customer support was really sad. I am happy with the cost, it cost the same as the Qsee system but offered a lot more for the buck.

The equipment was very easy to install and came with everything I needed. The picture quality is great and the features are quite robust. The software takes some getting used to. I had some connection issues with the ipad and iPhone clients. Overall I'm very happy with they system.

QR code doesn't work during setup - have to do this manually, it just freezes up... but that isn't the deal breaker, it's the nightvision... After trying everything I called in to tech support. They had no clue why my night vision was so blizzery and was pulsing. Before calling in to support, I had switched out the camera to another twice, changed cables, tried another location - nothing. the night vision sucks so badly, very grainy with lines of interference running through the image and the brightness of the image pulses dark and bright... junk... I can't imagine the cables being any cheaper - dollar store grade with power and video in one... no chance for a clear image - day time is ok, still lots of noise but it's acceptable, but any camera in perfect light will be ok... so that's not saying much. The worst part was tech support, a young guy, no clue what it could be - had to put me on hold... (after holding 40 minutes) finally comes back and says it's the ambient light. If there is ambient light while the camera is in night vision, it will get like that... I told him, whaa, you mean everyone who installs this camera in an urban setting will get this... he didn't know what to say. I asked him, so there is no chance on fixing this before I have to return it, he said no. it bothers me because almost any house in a residential neighborhood will have street lights, or neighbor's lights on... how can this camera not be able to adjust for that? but instead pulse and create static lines. If I install the camera indoors, even in the dark, it's ok... so if you need this setup for indoors, go for it... but to cover your front yard... junk. Day camera 7/10 Nightvision 3/10 (you can still make out the scene) - got a good deal online but... you really do get what you pay for. If having a relatively sharp night vision is important to you. look elsewhere. My neighbor installed a swann system, he says there is no such thing on his but he paid a few hundred more... and it's 1080p with clear night time.. it's a shame, that any camera maker, would find this nightvision sensor acceptable for sale.

This system is exactly what I wanted. It allows me the ability to check on the inside as well as the outside of our home when we are traveling. The installation is fairly straight forward, if you have some construction skills.(I was a general contractor for 40 years) The loading of the software for my PC and phone was another matter. That said, the support was friendly and efficient and as a result I now have a system that allows me to check on our home from where ever we are.

After a lot of research finally I bought this system online and I'm very pleased with it. Easy installation, high definition cameras and the price is a bargain. I have to setup the DDNS settings to watch it over the phone or computer, because I had problems using only the QR code. With the DDNS setup works like a champ, over wi-fi or 4G or any computer with internet connection. I would recommended this system and I'm planning on buying another system.

I had the Foscam wireless system that I bought from Amazon 8 months ago now and experienced nothing but problems and frustration with it. Video quality is terrible. Being wireless - signal keeps dropping off the line. Motion detect is also terrible. That one time someone took my package from my front door the system did not record so that was the last straw. No more Foscam security camera system for me. I removed them all.  being HD and with Costco's outstanding customer service I figured I'd give it a try. Here is my review: Being wired, hook up was very simple. FlirCloud set up was also a breeze. Video quality is outstanding and so far I am very satisfied with the system. Just follow the instructions and installation and set-up was a breeze. Build quality of the camera and DVR is also great and the software works fine. Remote access set-up on my Windows PC and Droid phone was also straightforward following the included instructions. Note: Before scanning the QR, enter your system Name, enter any name. Otherwise the FlirCloud Droid app will hang during initial start. I would have given this 5 stars but two items I feel they need to address: 1) DVR fan is very noisy. All my computers at home have quiet fans as I hate buzzing sound. The DVR internal fan is very noisy. I am an engineer by trade and I can replace the internal fan with a super quiet cooling fan but opening the box will void the I will have to live with it. 2) The playback software needs to have the ability to "scrub" the recorded video. Basically click the recorded file and drag forward or backwards while viewing the video to locate a particular section. Lorex please add this feature. Other than that - I give the Lorex LHD818 System a 4.5 stars. But since there is no 4.5 star I will go ahead and give it a 5 star. Excellent system. Thanks for making such a great product Lorex. Keep up the great work and please keep improving the software. Thanks! Dan L.

I purchased the LHD818 systemonline a month ago. So far I am very satisfied with the system. If you follow the instructions, installation and set-up was a breeze. System works as advertised and per the specs. Camera quality is great and the software works without a hitch. Remote access set-up on my Windows PC and Droid phone was also straightforward following the instructions. One of the 8 cameras failed after a couple of weeks, but Lorex tech support quickly replaced the camera with no problem. The only thing keeping me from going with a 5-star rating is the lack of documentation for fine tuning the camera/software motion alarm Sensitivity and Threshold settings. We are experiencing many motion false alarms during the day caused by moving shadows due to trees blowing in the wind and at night caused by bugs flying in front of the cameras. These are common problems with these types of cameras and the false alarms should be reduced, if not eliminated, via the Sensitivity and Threshold settings. However, the lack of documentation on these settings is making this a challenge.

This is my third CCTV system and is the best so far. I online at a great price and the quality of video is really good. I do like the extra features which make video playback an easy process and the controls are easy to understand. I have recommended this system to several people to capitalize on the value of this system. All inclusive systems at such a low price can make anyone happy with their purchase.

I purchased the LHD818 system after doing considerable research. I looked at the Swann system, the Q-see system, Zmodo system, and several other systems prior to purchase. Camera placement was a breeze, running wires over 100' with female BNC connectors was easy and worked fine. Camera visibility and picture quality was great, even the ability of reading license plates from a car parked 20 feet away from the camera. All cameras worked when tested, all hardware included made for an easy installation, and the included instructions for the Flir Cloud went smoothly. The cost was very reasonable for the system I received. No complaints and the 8 camera system is up and running. This system compliments my motion sensor system I installed on all my doors and windows about a year ago. My only reason for not giving it a 5 star rating is there is no instruction manual included for the complete operation and functions of the entire system. I am a guy who likes to read instructions for things I can't easily figure out, especially when I try experimenting with the system after setup.

this 2nd LHD818 system works great. It was a 2nd install, replacing the Q-see sytem and the bnc connections made the install speedy. We just replaced the cameras and the DVR. Picture quality is much easier to view details with the new 720P. Placed another order already.

Camera system very good for the money. Running the wires thru house definitely the hardest part of setup. Only issue I had was connecting to wifi router. Had problems until I toggled enable plug & play in settings. Once I did that I had video on phone & iPad app as well as remotely on computer. A little frustration but well worth it in the end.

we had a 6 year old bnc connection system go out, so we opted to replace with the new LHD818 8 camera 720p system so that we would not have to run new wires but would also benefit from the better camera images. So far so good, after a quick pluh/unplug and screw down the new cameras. Most features were similar but the wide camera view and 720p images are the best part. Ordered from online on Sunday and received/installed on Wednesday.

After countless hours or research lorex seemed to have the best ratings, reviews, value for money and tech support but after purchasing the LHV1000 8camera system online, installing the system and setting up Flir cloud on my iphone WOW the research payed off. The 720p camera quality day and night is awesome. Make sure you register the product and set up a DDNS account before using the FLIR cloud then its a great setup and being able to access your whole system and each camera from your iPhone anywhere is great.

Purchased this for monitoring of a remote location. I like the IP connectivity, and ability to download surveillance clips to a local machine without having physical access to the machine. A bit convoluted setting up the motion detect on the cameras, as terminology like sensitivity and threshold are not clearly defined but once we found the right balance they seem to work fairly well. I love the flir cloud access on my iphone. very handy.

This is a great system for the price. The setup was very easy and everything worked the first time. The remote viewing system works well. I have set it up on a PC, Android and Ipad. Both the PC and Android apps are great. I blew me away how many things you can do with the apps, they're not just for viewing. The Ipad app works with the exception of exiting the app. If you leave the app, you have to shut it down completely, you can't just check email and come back to it. If you do, the app won't connect to the cameras again. Not bad once you figure it out, but still a bit of a pain. The 720p resolution is so much better than the standard def solutions. It is certainly worth the extra money. The only warning is that you can't use regular cameras with this system. These cameras send a signal that is special to this DVR. I'm not thrilled with this idea, but for the price, I'm just going to buy an extra camera in case one breaks in the future. Overall this is a great system with several top features.
