These are Ok camera's, the night vision is Ok. They are nowhere near clear enough to read license plates or nothing like that, night or day time, day time is clearer than night vision, but still not that clear, the wireless one's really, really interfere with Wi-Fi signals in the house, to the point where my Laptop or cell phone's are incredibly and painfully slow. I got around this issue by getting a new dual band router ( 2.4Ghz & 5Ghz), then getting a Laptop that runs on the 5Ghz network rather than the 2.4Ghz. And most cell phone will detect 5Ghz Wi-Fi already, and you need a minimum of 1.5Mbs to view the cameras on your mobile device. Lorex was awesome about remotely taking over my computer and camera system and router in order to reconfigure everything so I could watch the camera's from my cell phone because my upload speed where I am was only .5Mbs.
If your running 2.4Ghz or if your Laptop is not brand new with 5Ghz capability, than these cameras will extremely slow down your Wi-Fi signal, extremely !! Turn the camera's off and the signal jumps up 5 fold , minimum. The wireless one's are mounted on the front of my attached garage, and its very difficult to get a clear signal, they go out every few minutes and say out of range, they suggest I get a signal booster/amplifier, but at $70 -$100 for each booster that's not an option over and above the almost $1000 I already paid for the system in the first place ! The wired camera's are better of course, more clear, but the issue and hassle off running the wires. This is a good system, just keep these issues in mind. Where you want to mount them, your Wi-Fi signal, and how far away you want to put the wireless camera's. Don't get me wrong, I'm very happy with these camera's now that I've got these Wi-Fi issues figured out, and after Lorex tech support reconfigured all my stuff so I can watch on my phone, I'd buy it again for sure, but if you want to be able to read license plates, you might want to go with the HD camera's. You can clearly see who people are and make out face's and stuff, just not license plate's with this system. I researched the heck out of these and other camera's before purchasing, I went with more camera's and no monitor, rather than a monitor and less camera's and just use my TV as my monitor. I just wish I knew these issues ahead of time, rather than figuring it out the hard and long way ! One more comment is that I read a lot of comments about Lorex crappy tech support and being on hold for ever, I had no issues what so ever, support was awesome and very friendly and no wait time on hold, but then again I'm Canadian and I was calling Canadian tech support !!! just saying
