I have had this system for about 2 months and I love it. It was easy to install and setup and viewing on my iPad and Android phone is an added bonus. The image from the cameras both day and night is very clear. I even played back one evening's recording to see what ate my wife's flowers! I could very clearly see the deer in complete darkness.

I did temporarily mount the cameras first and ran wires outside the house, just to get a sense of where to position the cameras before permanently installing. It gave me the chance to see which locations were best for each camera.

Similar cameras are available in some of the big box stores but these had a better nighttime rating and the price was good.

I definately recommend this unit if you are thinking about setting up a camera system.

Product works as expected but don't expect great clarity on phone images. The resolution is not in hd as it takes up to much space to stream over the net. Four cameras work well for our needs but more may be needed for larger homes. Still learning the ins and outs of the system. A users manual in PDF format can be found at the end of this product's page.
DO NOT pay the ridiculous expedited shipping. The fine print, which is nowhere to be seen until the product is actually shipped, will tell you that the expedited shipping does not begin until the product is being shipped, not when it is ordered. In my case, I paid for three to five day shipping for a product that showed up thirteen days after I ordered it. Don't fall for this. That information should have been disclosed up front in big bold letters. A case could be made that some deception was involved. To this extent, this was a soured transaction for me. Money after all does not grow on trees. I complained and was hoping for reimbursement of those shipping charges; fat chance. A top notch company would not have blinked and given me back that money.

That rant aside, the system works fine.

Our apologies for any inconvenience with the shipping. We are happy to have assisted you with that.

I have setup one camera indoor and three outdoor. Image quality is excellent both daytime and nighttime. Setup was a breeze!! Setting up remote live video streaming on iPhone was very easy as well. However software settings on the DVR is a bit of a challenge.

Overall this is a great product

I purchased this system as an outdoor surveillance solution for my mother with plans to remotely manage from another city. Overall, the system has impressed me with both the camera and DVR quality being exceptional. Following is a rundown of pros and cons:

Pros:
- Nearly plug-and-play for basic setup. Aside from running cabling which depends on each situation, the system is very easy to setup and begin using.
- Camera quality is terrific for both day and night vision. Even over remote Liveview, I'm impressed with the image quality.
- Remote viewing over iPhone, iPad, etc. is very easy to setup. I attached the DVR to an LED TV via the included HDMI cable but with the optional iPad setup, my mother can view live streams from any room in the house.
- Remote management using the Flir Cloud Client works quite well. The features enable live streaming, playback, searching the DVR and downloading of videos directly to a PC. This has been a great tool for me to manage the system from another city.
- Both regular cloud service and DSNET for remote management are provide at no cost or monthly fees.
- The included 60' cables were fine for 3 of the 4 camera locations but longer cables are likely needed for a complete house coverage.
- The Flir Cloud Client has worked well on Windows 10

Cons:
- Advanced setup is likely tough for those who aren't technically savvy. There are pretty extensive manuals available which delivered 90% of the needed direction. Unfortunately, it was a pain to find the manuals. All references point to the Lorex support webpage and when I searched for the manuals, the search results only included FAQ articles. I had to go to the product page to find the detailed instruction manuals which aren't included wtih the product packaging. These should be easier to find and download.
- Remote management setup is not seamless. I tried using the auto port forwarding setup tool from Flir and it failed. Setting up port forwarding and the necessary router security settings to enable remote management via the Flir Cloud Client
manually was also a bit challenging because the documentation implied using port 80 but that was only an example. The actual port setting is different and it took me 2 hours to figure that out.
- The remote management tool does not have all of the functionality that is available when working directly with the DVR. The most important missing feature for me was the ability to search for motion within an area of the field of video, i.e. section of a sidewalk, etc. This makes reviewing stored content a bit less efficient when remote.

Received in good time, tested all equipment to make sure they were working before installing. No issues there. Picture is very clear both day and night. Had issues with the password in FLIR apps, make sure the password is 6 characters long, called the technical support line, did not have to wait, gave them access to my computer, they resolved very quickly and efficiently. Very pleased with the support desk in Colombia. Still getting familiar with all the features in the DVR. Very good value for the money compared to many other systems out there. Works well in my iphone, but sometimes have difficulty in some locations depending on the wifi connection speed. Overall I am pretty please with the product.

Everything came packaged nicely and the instructions were very well laid out and easy to understand. I had no trouble whatsoever connecting the power cords to both the camera and wireless receiver, and the video cable from the receiver to the RCA video input jack of my television. I used the supplied BNC-to-RCA adapter jack.

I haven't decided where to place the camera yet so I didn't mount it but connected it to its stand then placed it freestanding on the ledge behind our front window in the living room, looking out to the porch and across the street. The video is better than I expected. I was expecting something rather fuzzy and choppy, but I was pleasantly surprised at how well detailed it is, with accurate colors and it also picks up movement well. Naturally it is not as good as watching a television or DVD picture but for monitoring purposes it is just fine. I don't see the need for any higher resolution.
The television is about 40 feet from the camera. Not a direct line-of-sight but there are open doorways between the two devices. The signal strength meter showed a strong connection.
Cons: The only real cons I can list are (1) cable management (just more cords to have to organize, but they are thin and easy to manage) and the placement limitation that comes from the length of the cords. I would say for most applications the supplied cords are sufficient, however.
The build quality of the camera is good. Everything works like it is supposed to, it is easy to install and set up and I get a nice, clear picture so I am happy with this product.
FLIR Cloud™ software is very good. I can view all cameras from my smart phone.

Ease of installation, great clarity day or night. My only issue I need to resolve is the time stamp. My PC shows an hour back and my iPad app shows and hour earlier than the present time. Other than that ,just perfect home system.

Good Customer Support

Pros: good customer support, smartphone alerts

Cons: no video out, monitor not that great

Model Number: LH300 Edge Series

"Had a little trouble setting up the DDNS and the smartphone features, but I called Lorex customer support and the problem was fixed in 15 mins by a support rep that spoke English and was very helpful. This is a better system than the one that's online for 600 bucks. Would still like to see Lorex add a video out feature on the DVR and it would be nice if I could mount the DVR on the monitor. It's a great system for home security and we love it. I have my smartphone set up with a separate email account and special notification if the system detects motion. If someone breaks into the house while I'm walking the dog, I can call 911 from 6 blocks away. Love that feature! Probably would want a better system if I had a business, but this is so much better than paying a monthly subscription fee for someone else to monitor when I can do it myself and not pay the false alarm bills!"

Good Product

"For a home system, these cameras are very good for the price. All six cameras worked when installed and we have had no glitches from the system. The day images are very clear. The infrared night cameras without any other light souce work as intended with black/white images, but you get a crisp image with additional ambient lighting such as porch lights. It is a plus that the infrared night cameras do not glow red like many other systems so you don't have red lights drawing attention to the cameras at night. The viewing and playback system is user friendly, and we have gotten two weeks of stored images while running continuous recording. That is great. The technical part of the installation is moderately easy as long as you follow the directions. The hardest part is pulling the cables, and this does require two people to do the job. Since we aren't as nimble on tall ladders and in attics as we once were, we decided to hire someone to do the cable work and camera mounting...well worth it for us. All in all, we are very satisfied."

Great Overall

Model Number: LH320

"Agree with the reviewer ref the cameras being short on IR. Cannot see much beyond 20 feet after dark.

Images are not as crisp as I might have expected... not sure that one could read a license plate from even 10 feet away. I too will purchase separate, more expensive cameras for my critical locations.

My only other gripe is that the fan on the DVR is unusually loud! I plan to surround the box with sound-dampening foam, while trying to maintain sufficient space for air-flow.

Auto-Port-Forwarding was a breeze with the software wizard. I set up remote viewing on my PC and on my Blackberry in no time!

DVR navigation is intuitive and well thought out.

Overall, I am very pleased with the system."

Internet: Fairy easy as long as you follow the instructions well. Lorex tech support will set it up for you if you have a problem.

Installation: Very straight forward and can be accomplished by a novice. I received no signal loss using a cable I purchased that extended to 120 feet. Lorex states you can go to 300 feet without high performance cables.

Competition: I reviewed a lot of systems and originally ordered the Swan security surveillance system the camera quality was poor. Glad I switched to Lorex!

Cost: Unless you are willing to pay for professional level cameras at a very high cost stay with this system.

Pros: great system for the money, easy installation

"We received the product whitin a week of ordering it. My husband installed the system without any problems. It is performing as stated in the description of the product. Out of the 6 cameras that we received, one had a problem in that it does not produce the infrared feature. We have no complaints with the system."
