I originally loved my 3 pack Lorex LNC-116 and really did not have much difficulty setting them up. The L-View for the PC was nice. The emailed jpeg when motion was detected very cool. Recording to the internal chip when motion detected excellent. But now I am out of warranty and was stupid to answer YES for the new firmware update. The Wifi constantly drops. I can no longer send motion detected images over my own server - even though it is configured to do that - it still goes through lorex's server. How do I know it was the firmware update? I only did 2 of my three cameras and those two have nothing but problems now. The third one... stays connected to the wifi, and sends emails through my own server still. So - I would have recommended this product had they not screwed up the firmware. Too bad as these were slick and for the right price for piece of mind when away from the house.

No luck with this camera on Mac Book Air. Lorex can not furnish a DMZ number for the camera that AT&T needs to open a port on their router for the camera set-up. Will return and shop for a brand that can be used on AT&T routers.

This series of cameras function best when working with the Lorex Ping App on Android or iOS devices, or using the L-View software on a PC or MAC. These cameras are designed so they have a built in remote access using the Camera ID that is recorded in the QR code on the back of the device.

Although setting up a DMZ will allow remote access to the Embedded web service of this camera to control the settings, it will not allow access to the video feed or recorded video.

For further inquires, please contact our technical support team at 1-877-755-6739, they will be happy to assist you.

I bought the 3 camera package, and received a 4th camera for free. Great deal. It was very easy to connect all the cameras to my router, computer, tablet, smartphones. The picture is good, and the night infrared picture is very good. The ability to "tweak" the settings is very nice and easy to use. One camera did not function properly, and tech support was very knowledgeable and helpful.

I have tried several IP cameras. The Lorex camera combines all the elements I was looking for:
Very good picture quality
Easy setup for remote viewing
Easy setup to remotely review saved files

Only con I have experienced is one of my cameras (2 years old) does not always activate due to motion detection.

I like how easily theses cameras setup and are accessible on the web. Make sure your wireless lan is good, I gave these cameras to my son in law and they kept rebooting so I took them back to my house and hooked them up and they are running great, so I guess it was his wireless lan. I wonder if there is a way to test the lan before you buy IP cameras. They are nice looking and you could shut off the leds so you can't tell if they are on or not.

Product is very easy to set up.... Love the picture quality and the size of the camera. I would have it a 5, except the response from customer service is not as responsive. I called the 800 numbers and it wasn't too bad... However, no one actually response to you if you create a ticket and went back there to update it :/. Why do I even bother to update the ticket if no one is going to respond to it.

Bought a 3 pack to start outfitting the house for surveillance... Setup was a snap and installed the iPAD, iPhone and Android apps. Wish there was a way to look at more than one camera on a phone - but the app works well (you can look at multiple cameras on the iPad or PC). Great product and will buy more...

Bought an LNC116 to use as a semi-portable security camera.
The set up was easy and connectivity to the network no problem.
The resolution/clarity of the image leaves a bit to be desired but overall for the price, this is a nice little unit and I like the interface/view capability to any PC.

I was so impressed with the LNC116 that I ordered another pair .It is a very unique and very easy setup procedure just follow the instruction and it is super smooth.
Very reasonable price and for the price I paid I am convinced that it is worth it and above all you can move the camera from one room to other room once it is synchronized with the router you can set in any room you like .BEST PART "PEACE OF MIND"

I purchased these cameras after a home break-in and it was an impulse purchase. These are great cameras and setup is super easy. I'm not sure I'm going to keep them since I had hoped to place them outside by the front and back doors. They appear to be designed more so for indoor use. I do have one in a window facing the street and I already received alerts which I liked. I was concerned that the motion sensor would be affected by glass window but so far so good. I'm also able to get a live view on my iPhone which I really like!

We purchased the LNC116-3pk for our home and it was relatively easy to set up. We have been using for about a month now and we really like it. I love how I can connect to the camera wherever I am. We had planned on setting up one of the camera facing outside to the front of our home however we were unable to see the images. They work great inside the home. One function I would love to have (or maybe it does and I do not know how to work it) is to intercom (talk) into my baby's room but it works just fine as is.

Liked the first camera so much that I ordered a second one. Easy to set up and make it do everything advertised, except after motion was detected, the camera would disconnect for a couple of minutes. Emailed Lorex Technology, which answered within 24 hours. They advised me to "Reset" the camera. I did that and it cleared the problem. LPS setting (heat sensitivity) works very well for Email alarms.

Easy and quick setup. Camera image is very good. Audio microphone is very good. Have been able to setup all things that this camera advertises. Online manual is very easy to read and is very thorough. Had one occasion to call for tech support. (be prepared to wait awhile) Tech person was friendly and knowledgeable and showed me how to do what I wanted to do. ( I should have been able to figure it out on my own) Instructions said Micro SD card, which is hard to find at 32 GB. Turns out a SDHC card works just fine.

Great security camera for the price. Very easy to set up on iPhone and IPad with the Ping App., and L-View download for my Mac. Had a slight problem with wifi connection at first, but that was due to my error. I purchased the 3 Pack to cover my door entrances, and recently ordered an additional single camera. Video is very good for viewing and play-back from SD Card or Mac and mobile devices. The auto infrared for night vision is great. Once I learned how to use these cameras, I'm very satisfied with my purchase, especially the price.

Very easy to set up and use quickly. I was able ot set up the camera on my ISO, android and PC devices. The software is straight forward and easy to follow. Once the camera is set up on wi-fi and connected to a router that is connected to the internet there is nothing else to do but enjoy and make use of the tool. The software takes care of DDNS automatically with no input needed from you at all. The picture looks very good in the day and excellent at night when it goes into a very sharp black and white mode. The only problem I have had is setting up an old Kindle Fire which will connect but then drops back out. I'm very happy with this purchase and have already bought 2 more and I'm planning to fix my mom up with some security of her own very soon.

Cameras work great using my Mac Book Pro and iPhone for remote viewing. Setup took some time but considering my low level of expertise, it went pretty good. The only problem I'm having is not being able to see all the cameras (I have 6 cameras set up) all the time (sometimes none of them) from a remote location. Viewing on my LAN is no problem. At this point, I'm not sure what the solution is. Maybe my router? I haven't contacted Lorex yet, but if all else fails, I will.

I have shopped all over for a solid quality wifi camera and I think the dual lense technology of Lorex is the best and priced lower than lesser quality cameras. In this case you definitely get much more than you paid for. Set up is simple, setting scenes and alerts without having to pay a monthly fee is great too! Too many companies charge for access to your own equipment you purchased. I have it set up in my main house and vacation home it does not need a computer to work or plug into the router, and you can even turn off the annoying lights, many cameras out there don't allow for this! Awesome cameras!!

It's a great camera with compact size. The motion detection function is very useful and the video in the night is clear. You could receive email alarm when there is a motion detected. But you have to configure the SMTP server.

Recently purchased a few LNC 116 cameras. I did extensive research into the home security realm having been a victim of home invasion. Did not want to pay a company to do something that Lorex allows ME to do and give me peace of mind!
Set up if very simple to do. My only draw back is the live feed is always a few seconds behind. I am not a computer guru so there may be a fix to this. Maybe a stonger or faster internet or both. The LNC 116 system has given me and my family peace of mind. Looking forward for more advanced, wireless, do-it-yourself products from Lorex. I will and have recommend this system to friends and family!

I've had the LNC116 (3 pack) for less than a week and found it easy to connect and get up and running. I like the capabilities of the camera and very useful for securing my home. Easy to connect to on my Android and iPad. No issues there.

However, I believe this security system is missing one main component. When I leave my house or cabin, I want to be able to go to a menu to press one button to turn on and off all my presets notifications for all the cameras in my house. I should be able to select those cameras that are at my house, so only the house notifications get turned on and off as I leave. I find it a pain to have to access each camera and then select what notifications I need every time I leave or enter my house. With some addition programming, Lorex could make this a slam dunk product.

If it is really a security system, then the cameras should work together like a system; similar to typical to wired house systems when you can Arm and Disarm the system with one button or code.

This is a good product and what I was looking for to eliminate the need for a central station.

Also, it would be nice if Lorex provided a feature to shutdown the cameras when someone is at home, but not wanting to be monitored. My wife works at home and doesn't care to have me monitoring her during the day.

I do like the cameras and feel the price is good and can be very effective.

These cameras were very easy to set up. I have an app on my android, my nexus tablet, ipad, wife's iphone, macbook and desktop. The cloud viewing is great and I can see my boys from my work or on the bus, anywhere at all, and it is very fast to bring up a camera. The night vision is very good, and I am able to make out everything in the room in pitch blackness. Even a soother that has fallen to the floor. The controls are good and intuitive and you can turn off all lights on the camera so the kids can sleep without a glowing eye in the room. I am very pleased with the quality. It just works so well!

Easy set-up. Clear picture. Technical help was very efficient and knowledgeable. My only problem was that the shipper lost/misplaced my order and it took 25 days and numerous calls to Lorex to finally receive my purchase...that is why I cannot give a full five stars.

Very good cameras. I use them all in a wireless configuration. Easy connection, good color picture, acceptable black and white image. I did a lot of reviewing and comparison shopping, and found these to be the best for my use, especially for the cost. I purchased 6 of these IP Cameras and had them up and going in a very short time. The instructional videos were great which helped a lot with the installation. I downloaded the software for my Mac and was viewing high quality color video with sound in minutes.

I then download Lorex Ping from the App store, installed it on my iphone, and was watching my home remotely from a local restaurant in less than 5 minutes. I will be buying more of these great cameras. Thanks Lorex for such an exceptional product.

I recently installed the LNC116-3PK and have been pleased with the simplicity of getting the cameras connected to my Wi-Fi network. The cameras are working good and I am still working on the best settings for each of the cameras to record into my NAS drive. I am considering purchasing another 3-PK to cover additional rooms.

It will give us some comfort knowing we have some level of security at home and away.

I would like to see an outdoor weatherproof camera with pan & tilt that would work on this platform.

I bought 16 of these to set up "vacation watch" on three different properties. I love the fact that I can view all 16 at the same time, even though they are on three separate networks in three different buildings. They were just a simple to set up as it sounded on this website. Load a little software on the PC - download an app to the ipad - and bingo, works like a charm. So many options are available as to picture quality etc. No port forwarding etc., like on my older Lorex system. I didn't have to call Pakistan or India to get it working correctly - yeah !!

Easy setup, a peace of mind when away from home

"WPS" to setup wireless connection works great and simple! I have all three cameras installed, I can see all three view angles of my house when I am on vacation on the beach using by Samsung Galaxy Note II. To save energy, I use SD card to record video. This is a great product.

The LNC116 3- pack is phase - one for my home security network. Connecting from a pc, to an Android, and an iPad was super successful. I found the ticket system essential while trouble shooting the DDNS system. I would recommend this system to any "semi-computer literate" friend.

I got These cameras to monitor my Vacation home. So far my experience has been fabulous.

Pro's - Ease of setup by far. The videos made it look too easy. It's really that easy!!!!
Picture quality

Cons - Wish they had a Tech Forum. Didn't need it, but was looking before the Cameras arrived.

Will probably get an HD camera to add to my system!

What's great about it: Ease of install, ease of remote viewing/setting changes

What's not so great: User Manual could use some improvement

Short story: Don't believe the reviews. This product is way better than all the other ones at this price point. Hands down.

Long story:

I was skeptical when I read all the reviews. I understand that some people have technological challenges, but I must say, this was easy to install and set up. I'm totally new to in-home security, and I'm exceptionally happy I bought this product. A little patience and willingness to root around the User's Manual and the apps themselves, and you can figure this out easily.

A note about the alarms/ motion detection that I learned (i.e. remember this when you buy it): when you set an alarm, depending on how you set it, you get BOTH an email and a text alarm to your mobile device. This can be quite the nuisance. You need to ensure you turn off the alarms separately, if you have email alarms engaged. You do this in both the "alarm notification" field, and then drill down under "camera settings" > "schedule' > "email alarm.' I learned to simplify my life by just setting the notification alarms under the "alarm notification" field. If you do it this way, you just get a notification on your phone like any other app (i.e. your text messages, news apps breaking news etc).

You can also Change the Streaming settings on the fly, remotely, regardless of what other reviews say. If you are at work and over a good wifi or other net connection, you can stream crystal clear up to 1.5 Mps. The default to 64kbps is to make it easy to live stream over cellular data networks. My ipad is set up at 1.5 meg. My iphone is set up at 64 kbps. Don't forget, with a MicroSD card installed, it's recording at 1.5Mps anyway. You get awesome resolution when you play back from the SD card.

As for recording capacity, that's entirely contingent upon the size of Micro SD card you buy. I bought the 64 gig. The camera setup itself is wondrously easy. Mounting it upside down in my house, in a hidden corner, with a barking dog wanting to play at my feet...was not quite so easy.

You won't be disappointed, trust me. I'm going to buy two more cameras.

What a complete rip off. Worked for 2-3 weeks. Tech support basically does not exist. Ticket after ticket for the same topic. They don't care about the customer after they have your money. Internet connectivity works 5-10% of the time. Buy the product if you like to see words like "camera off line" "disconnected" "connection failed". What a joy to see when you are not home and trying to check into the system. Frustrating as H$ll. Hey Lorex, thanks for taking my hard earned money and treating me like sh*t. Buyer beware.

Our 88 and 92 year old dads live with us. What a relief to be able to check on them when we are out in the yard, or while running a short errand.

Unfortunately our suspicions were confirmed about one of the aides. It was distressing to watch one aide sit and text for 45 minutes without doing anything around the house or to help dad get ready for day-care. That really wasn't the intention of installing the LNC116s. It was really for safety issues. Nevertheless, it did explain why there did not seem to be much accomplished during their shift.

The installation was not completely seamless, yet not terrible. There are a lot of variables regarding the various networks that we use about town, and with the alleged "4G" mobile network. The software on both the Android devices and our iPads locks up from time to time, but again, that could be the network we are using to handshake with the LNC 116s. When it works, it works great. It works well most of the time. In fact, we just ordered six more LNC 116s and also purchased a Lorex Vantage ECO4 LH150 Series for the outside. It will be interesting to see how they compare.

The camera set up quickly on the iPhones and iPads. Setup was fairly simple with the included software for my PC. Getting it to work on my Apple was more difficult - had to go to the Lorex website and download a program. Problems included getting numerous alert messages when the camera wasn't supposed to, and too many setting choices, many of which did not work properly. My main problem, however, is getting it to view over the Internet, which is the only reason I really need it, as I divide my time between Alaska and Florida. The Internet address I was given does not work on my MacBook Pro, which is what I travel with. I sent a message to the Tech Support people, but after 3 days I still have not heard back. I was planning on buying 3 more cameras if I could view them over the Internet. Not sure if that will happen now.....

Actually disappointed in the difficulty of the set up process. I am not a techie and I hoped that the QR code setup would make it easy for anyone. Cannot get to the product controls because system does not recognize my user id and password. Cannot make camera lights go off after setup. When my internet goes out which happens often with my provider, the camera has to be set up again which is tough to do when you are not home. Instructions are not available to describe where system is recording and does the recording overlap and new information replaces old information or how does that work? I would suggest that instruction booklet be written for dummies and anticipate every failure possible and give directions to survive the failure. I an not happy with this product and will probably hire a company to install cameras so I have someone to call when they do not work.

This camera is great for checking on things when away. The motion-detection system offers sensitivity settings as well as a few storage or email options. The camera doesn't "look like a camera" and is less intimidating and noticeable for visitors (and burglars) than large lens alternatives. I like the iOS interface, and very importantly love this camera's ability to re-initialize itself after a connection loss (using WPA2 wifi encryption) which is critical when on travel. For the price I believe this is a very good choice for the price point and feature set combination, and as an IP cam it doesn't require a base station. If you need higher res than 640x480, it will either cost more or have fewer features overall at this price. My preference is to use 4 of these over a couple of wide angle hi-res cams for greater stealth and angle options, but again individual needs should be considered before choosing a cam. I have found tilt/pivot cams are great but tend to become center pieces instead of fixtures when placement is attempted and they are anything but subtle when moving.

The setup is fairly easy because you can do mostly everything on a mobile device. The sensitivity levels on this camera are WAY off. I tried all of them. A tree branch moving will set it off or turning a light on or off. If you put it too low, it will not record at all. Settings on motion detection recordings cannot be changed like other cameras I have owned. I was getting email notifications about every 5 minutes on my phone! The picture quality is way better than the d-link camera I owned previous to this one although I like the features on the d-link I returned it and will continue my search.

The picture in daytime and at night was a good resolution and had no lag. Even a novice like myself was able to set up the IP camera wirelessly over my home network. Although my eBook reader would not read the bar code, I could manually set up the camera with its serial number both on my eBook reader through the lorex App and my desktop with the lorex software. Unfortunately the android APP that the lorex uses to connect to the camera over the internet would not connect the camera to me when I was at remote hotspots. It was for that reason that I returned the camera. What good is a surveillance camera that you can only connect to when you are on your home network.

Great camera with almost all the features you'ld like to see and with relatively easy setup (although I had a log in problem that could have done better with a valid error message with details rather than a generic 'Failure' message). Image quality leaves some to be desired especially if someone is running and even worse at low light levels - I purchased mine for internal security and video logging. Overall I'd recommend it and see if it works for your situation.

I have the Lorex LNC 116 Vantage Stream.

Hardware is OK. Resolution is only 640x480, but that was already known beforehand.

The problem is the software. The L-View V 1.0.4. It's buggy, and very difficult to playback.

You should be able to watch the playback on a certain speed, like x8, and it should jump to the motion detected video. Instead, the software is not smart enough and plays blank spots, so you have to painfully wait to see nothing but blank images! This is not very useful.

I hope Lorex will update it's L-View player software to be less buggy, and more polished.

I bought two of these cameras so that I could monitor my dogs and house while on vacation. There was some initial frustration during setup when the cameras weren't detected on my WIFI network. Called Lorex technical support and was on hold for a very long time and was then disconnected during the "help" session. (No call back) During the wait, a pop-up window on my computer notified me of a necessary firmware update for the cameras. Once this was completed they were easily detected on my WIFI network and are working fine. There is a pretty good view even at night. The only thing I miss with this model is pan and tilt feature but overall I'm happy with the purchase.

I was looking a camera that provided Dropcam features without the $9.99/mo access fee and the Lorex LNC116 certainly delivers.

Cameras are easy to setup. Connect to Ethernet to add camera to network (Step A of included instructions) then use iPhone app to enable WiFi connection (Step B), unplug Ethernet cable from camera and move it anywhere you'd like within 10 feet of a power outlet.

Setting up NAS is also easy and allows the cameras to record directly to a drive attached your wireless router. This means no PC's to restart or applications to relaunch to recover from power outages. I'm using a 128GB PNY flash drive plugged into the USB port of my AirPort Extreme:

"NAS IP address" is the IP address of the AirPort

"Shared folder name" is the drive name (e.g. USB20FD is what the PNY flash drive is named out of the box)

"NAS access account" and "NAS access password" are the admin credentials of the AirPort

L-View for Mac can be downloaded from Lorex's site and provides a "Web configure" option on the camera context menu which makes getting to the camera's "web setup" easier. From web setup you can setup NAS, schedule recording or tell the camera where to send e-mail alerts when it detects motion within it's field of view.

The only thing I don't particularly care for is that the mounting stand has an open ring base and the supplied mounting kit consists of drywall anchors and screws. The camera only weighs about 1/2 pound so a solid base and a 3M Command Strip would have been perfect. I bought a 4 inch circular wood plaque from a local craft store for each camera, painted the plaque to match the wall it would be mounted to, mounted the mounting stand to the plaque and used a 5 pound 3M Command Strip to mount the modified assembly to the wall.

I would recommend this to a friend!

LNC116 is a good basic product and value. The software interface is OK but not great. The product has security limitations. For example if you set it up with a Wireless Access Point (WAP), it requires the WAP's SSID to be broadcasting. LNC116 is not smart enough to communicate with a non-broadcasting SSID. I contacted Lorex Technical Support and they could not offer an immediate fix. They said they will test it in their lab and see if they can fix it in the next firmware release. They are supposed to let me know if it can be fixed. Lets see if they follow up and address the issue.

Pros -

-Beautiful camera

-Great camera, solid built (metal support) and software setup is really great (use the QR code or WPS on your router or do it by hand).

-It is really magical being able to check things from far away (I have 3 dogs) and it is surreal as you can see in real time, but cannot be there (really weird feeling)

-The infrared of this thing is so good, it creeps you out first time you see your house in complete darkness.

-Scheduling is really powerful as you can set the thing to monitor your house only when you are away at work, kids in school etc. The alert options are great. They really put a lot of control granularity on this camera.

Cons -

-Software really buggy, specially on the Ipod touch, I went through all the settings, even leaving things in auto, but the lower half of my image on the ipod touch is always out of sync (even when I am 1 feet from the router). No problems on my Nexus 7 or in my computer. ( I have fiber optic connection, therefore plenty of bandwidth)

-Computer interface could be more polished, and L-view and L-play could be in the same program. They should also change the opening image when you open the software as it looks like was made by an amateur.

-It would be great if they offered a plastic adaptor to turn this camera into wide angle. The coverage is fine, but I wish It could cover more.

-640x480 is ok, but it would be great if could go higher like 720P, bandwidth allowed.

Should you buy this product? Yes, but start with one until you become aware of its possibilities and limitations. The good news is that they could fix most of its flaws by updating the software.

I have owned the Lorex LNC116 3-pk camera's for 8 days. I use the cameras with a MAC Pro desktop and an iPhone 4.
I very much appreciate the design of the camera mount to the mounting bracket: a Phillips head screw loosens / tightens the grip. This makes mounting the camera very straight forward.
The serious side: Getting the cameras to solve your security needs:
Getting the cameras configured with your router is very straight forward. Getting the cameras configured with the L-view program and recording to the micro SD card is also very straight forward. Getting this portion of the configuration took me about 4 hours total for the three cameras. Email alerts of detected motion/ body heat works well. This meets my most basic security needs. 5 out of 5 stars for this portion.
I am still working on configuring the Cameras for remote viewing on my iPhone. I detected several missed settings this evening, which may fix my configuration issues. This portion of the process remains untested, and the LNC116 manual is lacking here by not addressing all of the settings that are needed.
I placed a request for more information on the support desk days ago. No reply. I telephoned tech support, and after an hour wait, I got Mr. India, who would not give me a support ticket number until the end of the call. After giving him a description of my issues with the iPhone configuration, I let him place me on hold to give him time to research the issue. Bad idea, we were disconnected.
Rating on this portion of the configuration is 2 stars out of 5, because I may have identified the missing configuration parameters on my own.
And yes, there is fluff... cool stuff that is not so important.... The intercom feature is way cool. I just need the remote iPhone link to work. You can talk to Family (and pets too) through the camera. The siren feature is as good as your speaker.
Another good feature is support for network storage drives (NAS). I do not own one yet, but I will soon.

For the money at the Sale price, very nice. It was easy to connect to my pc and iphone via router. I would like to see that the camera can be mounted outside under cover to avoid reflection off the window for monitoring my porch and backyard area. Otherwise a very good setup. Still learning how to use it. Instead of pushing email alerts, I would rather see alert via text to phone. Definitely works well using my iphone to monitor camera away from home.
