The cameras picture and night vision works very well. The problem I have is with the wifi signal. It is very weak and disconnects constantly. I have two very strong network signals but it didn't matter. Tech support finally called me about 4 days after submitting the help desk ticket and are sending me new camera to replace the ones I have. Hopefully, these will work better. I will update the review after I try out the new ones.

I have purchased three Lorex cameras. All are now working fine. One was replaced after a snow storm apparently blew snow into the converter cable connection. It was replaced a second time for a cause unknown to me. The HD images and software work fine. With the help of Lorex support, the install was completed. While the instructions say you should give it a couple of minutes to connect wirelessly, I overlooked that specification - otherwise no help would have been needed.

I am not one that writes reviews, but feel i should relay my experience with the LNC226X cameras and associated mobile app.
The wifi strength is weak so if you are planning to mount it outside, don't waste your money. Even with a wifi extender, you are limited.
The biggest disappointment is lorex mobile app. It is extremely important if you want to monitor your property via your smartphone. It is useless. Always offline and never recognizes my login. I have spent many hours and money only to experience disappointment after disappointment. The cameras now sit in their original boxes collecting dust. When Lorex develops a reliable app, I may consider buying one of their products again.

LCN226X is reasonable good product. it works as describe the adv of the product. It is easy to set up and get it work. The hardware quality is good. However, it take long time to learn how to use the camera software L-view and L-play.
I ordered two LCN226X and had to return one, it was identified as defect,for replacement.
It was not a good experiences to get a defect one form Lorex especially I was the first time to try Lorex product. However, I wanted to say that Lorex did a very good job to offer a very good technical support to help me to troubleshoot and revolve the issue that make me to recommend this product as well as this company to others.

Contacted Lorex for a recommendation of an outdoor IP camera to add to and existing wifi network, they recommended LNC226x. Bought them. 1. WPS didn't work, but I used ethernet cable to initiate. DVD instructions with cameras was not for these cameras, was for different indoor non IP camera. Contacted Lorex tech service twice, they promised to email the correct instructions and manual, but I never received them. Called back to get a port number, was told 80, so I tried that. Tried the port forwarding app, it didn't work, but it screwed up the port forwarding of the other cameras on the LAN. I manually set up the router port forwarding, then followed the online instructions to allow DDNS internet access. It referred me to the camera label, which had a different model number than LNC225. While trying the DDNS, it said the MAC number on the label was invalid. I contacted Lorex yet again, the technician proxied into my computer via BOMGAR, and ended up telling me that the cameras I have cannot be accessed over the internet. After loosing a day of effort to try to get this to work, I am sending them back for a refund, and will never buy from Lorex again.

Bought 3 of these cameras because I had a wireless Lorex system with a 7 inch monitor that worked great. These cameras are terrible, down 90% of the time. Bought new top of the line Nighthawk router, upgraded internet speed to 45MEGS and even added a WiFi extender. Front camera is only 30 ft from HS router and refuses to connect. Wondering if external antennas can be added before spending more money on reliable cameras.

I am not really happy about the product, one of my camera seems like can not connect to wifi. it keeps disconnect all the time. Even I connect throught cable directly, it also get disconnected. the software to view the camera also buggy, it get disconnected all the time, I have to manually refresh and reconnect.
I am sending back one of the camera to exchange for the new one.
Other than the wifi connectivity issue, and the buggy software, the overall picture quality is good for the price.

I bought a two pack lnc226x. This is the second time I bought from Lorex, my previous purchase was the indoor 3 pack lnc226. The Lnc226x seemed to be well made, the housing is all metal. The setup is easy just like the indoor lnc226. I ran cat5 cables from a POE switch to the camera directly to eliminate the need to use the power adapter. So far they are working well.

I will prefer if Lorex have a rj45 plug in the back of the camera rather a cat5 cable to connect to the splitter/dongle. It will make it a cleaner installation one less extra connection.

Bought the 2-pack after I had a single unit for 10 month. Camera is very good and easy to install. Picture quality is pretty good and the remote accessibility works very well. I'm very satisfied with the product. Have 3 around my house now and record to a NAS device, which was easy to install and works great. Weak points in my opinion is the motion detection, which is not satisfactory, because it measures a light change in every pixel. Sun/shade or light/dark changes trigger the motion recording and create many false recordings. IR sensor is missing in this camera.
The L-View software is easy to use, but I have a of crap outs since I have 3 cameras on line.

- Easy to install.
- Low profile so they are not visually intrusive.
- The housing is more Silver than white which is how they are sold. So don't be shocked to see silver housing.
- The night vision needs help. The quality of vision is not as great as they pitch it to be.
- Motion sensitivity alarms are VERY sensitive. Unless you want tons of emails with alerts lower your sound and motion sensitivities.
- All in all the daytime picture is really nice.
- We will get more of them just for the ease of use.

I bought these HD Wireless outdoor IP cameras - 2 pack since July 2015; here is my review below and hope it helps others for decision making:

Pros:
-Easy to install and setup;
-Picture quality is good;
-Price is not bad for 2;
-Conveniently, I could remotely view the video records on SD card.
-like Email alert feature;

Cons:

- The L-Play software is very buggy (giving out errors); not great software;

- The Scheduling on the Desktop software (L-View) is very not user friendly.

- The desktop recording is not as reliable as SD card recording. Many occasions, when I get back from work, or when I wake up in the morning, I notice L-View screen showing "failed" on the camera. So, I had to manually reconnect them back. However, SD card recording stays connected. Even though wifi option is available, the hard wired connection is more reliable. Even with the hard wire connection, L-View shows my camera got disconnected sometimes for no reason. Very odd! I would prefer a security camera has not disruption and more reliable, but I do not think I can count on this model based on my experience at this point.

- For some reason, Lorex Ring stops sending me the alarm notification on iPhone 6 although I have not altered anything on my iPhone 6. I called the Tech Support, but he can't resolve the problem at this point after staying on the phone with him to troubleshoot for 1hour. I even uninstalled the Lorex Ring App, and reinstalled the app back, but still the problem remains.

The microphone and speaker are a plus. I have not yet set up motion sensor recording but will in the future. Great system without added monthly fees. Cannot beat it for the price.

I was looking for a wireless solution, so chose this pack. Unfortunately the wireless continually disconnected, so I had to run cat5 cable outside. Luckily I am able to do that. The daytime pic is good, however night time is not. It's OK, but I was expecting better considering the "720p" rating.

I ordered the 2 pack camera along with a single camera online. It took a week for Lorex to ship the package. I tried calling customer service but was on hold for half an hour before giving up on waiting. During the wait, the automated announcement said that my order will be shipped within 24hrs of purchase. That didn't happen. Upon receiving the cameras, 2 didn't power up. The red light was lit but very dim. The 3rd camera powered up without any issue. I submitted a trouble ticket online for those two and within 48 hrs as promised, a UPS label was issued to send the two defect cameras back. They didn't mentioned if they were going to send me another two cameras yet so that's what I'm waiting for now.

Besides the 2 defect cameras, the other one works great. The image is clear and setting up was very easy to do. I would have given this a 5 stars but with the defect and delay in shipment I'm giving it a 4. Perhaps I may return and do another review once I receive the other two cameras and set up my system.

For versatility, I would give it a 6 stars out of 5. You can connect at the same time with iphone, windows and mac. The recording is done on the sd card so no need to have a dedicated computer to record. Support wifi but signal drop quickly du to outside house material. Very easy to use network cable to extend the connection if needed. Image quality is awsome. Support night vision with 2 differents sensors. Free remote connexion over 3G or LTE. Excellent customer support. The only problem I found so far is the stability of the mac software. I used a old mac mini to show the front door camera during the day and the software crash after 2-3 hours. I need to contact technical support about that but I'm hoping that this problem will be fix in future software release.

Purchased the LNC226 cameras in Nov 2014. Cameras work fine and pic is clear. The software L-Play sucks, period. Thought might be my system perhaps, settings etc. New computer system with super speed, memory etc, but the software still sucks.
Camera's don't play as they should. Can't access SD-card easily and takes forever to download recorded information. Audio cuts in and out. Video does same.

I think over-all a good company with a good product..... just need to update the support software so that cameras can be accessed easily and they stay on! Also, recorded information can be accessed easily as well. Need to make the software as good as the cameras.

I have a few professional suggestions - after installing more than 40 of this model I would strongly recommend 2 things;
#1 is to add a 2-3 inch pig-tail WiFi antenna to the back surface area (I looked inside and it is do-able).
#2 Add a right-click option to "copy" or "send to" when viewing the recorded SD files in the L-View SD playback window.

OR for #2 any method for archiving a file without having to remove the card from the camera.

I purchased one for my garage and im very satisified with it. Its really easy to set up. I put a wi fi extender and that stopped it from disconnecting and reconnecting. It nice when you're not home and you get automatic pings/emails when someone pulls into the yard. The product also works in the extreme cold havent had one problem in the cold weather. i'd recomend this product to anyone.

I purchased the twin pack LNC 226X recently and am very satisfied. The picture is very high quality, and they hooked into our house wifi without a hitch. The motion alarm is easy to set up, and the Ping software on the Samsung Android phone also connected without any problems.

The only difference I experienced from the LNC 216 indoor WIFI cameras is that these LNC 226X cameras seem to disconnect every so often from the wifi and then reconnect, while the 216 cameras stay connected all the time, so not sure what the problem is. When I hardwired the 226X cameras with an Ethernet Wifi cable, they then stayed connected fine, so something I have to resolve yet with Lorex, it has nothing to do with distance from the Wifi source, as I did a number of trials comparing the 216s and the 226s, but for some reason, the 226s do not seem to want to stay connected in a steady state.

But other than that, I am extremely satisfied with these outdoor cameras and would recommend them.

I bought a 2 pack. It's been about a month since they are in use. I rate them 1 star for the following reasons.
- Poor connection. I cannot get stable connection when I place the camera more than 40 ft and thru 2 dry walls.
- Video delay. The video is not real time on my iPhone. There is a 3-5 second delay.
- Night vision video/images are poor. The camera has 3 LEDs, vs. 10 or more in most night vision security cameras.
FYI, I use a high speed router.

I have tried calling tech support and they haven't even bothered to call back after putting me on hold to wait for the next available agent for over 1 hour. the email I received when I contacted them also on line read that someone will get back to me. its been over a week now. I will never recommend these products to anyone.

Purchased this camera in addition to the LNC 16 & the LNC 216 and let me say I am so glad to I didnt listen to the negative comments. I am in a VERY poor cell phone area, yet I can watch my cameras even without 4G. With 4G the viewing and talking feature on the 216 model works perfect. Works also with Wifi but works better with 4G. Slight lag with WiFi but still works good. My only issue is with this above mentioned 226X camera. The software right now has an issue getting sound on my andriod device. No issues with the 16 & 216. I called Tech support and they are trying to fix the issue. My son has an i-phone and the 226 is working just perfect. So far I love the cameras I purchased, just hoping they fix the software issue soon.

I bought two of these cameras. Both physically installed very easily. I drilled a hole in the exterior wall of my house for the Cat 5 cable, connected one wirelessly and one wired. Both installed flawlessly. Connectivity is easy IF you are patient and follow the instructions. The viewing areas is easy to adjust. The ability to record via micro sd card or a server is great. Playback is easy. There are lots of great features, including night vision and the ability to set recording to motion only as well as viewing them from anywhere. I bought these to compliment the interior IP cameras. I now have four and plan to increase my count. I have not noticed any lag in internet performance with four cameras on my network. In summary, the cameras work as advertised.

Awesome camera system! These IP cameras work perfectly!

I bought the 2-Pack LNC226X camera set. Easy to setup and deliver an excellent picture. I have them connected to my router via wifi . The Windows/Mac L-view and L-play CD software that is included with the LNC226X works great. The iPhone Ping app lets me check on the house while away. Love it! Set up instructions seem a little daunting at first, but read the installation instructions first and you will have with no problems at all. Installation was quick and easy.

We received our cameras within a week. I was a little concerned about the package getting delivered without damage. Not to worry! Cameras were bubble wrapped, surrounded with packing paper. Everything arrived in perfect condition thanks to the Lorex packing people.

Both Wi-Fi and Ethernet connections are great with extensive options using PING to tailor you camera as needed for both day and night.

Would like to purchase another camera soon, I am waiting for price to come down. To purchase just one camera is rather expensive. Would like to see the price around half the purchase price of the 2pk system.

The quality of the image is great. The ease of setting up the units is simple. The only problem I have is that, "out of the box", it does not have the expected RF range. I bought 2 cameras. The first camera is 21 feet from the RF router and direct "line of site" through a window. The second camera is 41 feet from the RF router and direct "line of site" through a window. The 21 foot one works fine. The 41 foot camera stays connected for about 50 seconds. It then disconnects for about 15 seconds and then reconnects. This happens over and over again. I have laptops that connect to the same RF router up to about 100 feet away through walls. If I cannot get this resolved, I will have to throw them away and go to a competitor.

I purchased the LNC226X two-pack after being disappointed with the Uniden G995 two camera system, which I returned. I spent about 30 minutes synching up camera 1 to my iPad, 2 iPhones, and a laptop. My objective was to set up both cameras outdoors and connect via Wi-Fi. Satisfied with the initial picture quality and setup requirements in my Living Room, I decided to go ahead and mount camera 1 outdoors in the front of my house. In spite of having very good internet speeds, I could not get camera 1 to connect again. I have Comcast Boost and typically get wireless speeds of 50 Mbps download and 12 Mpbs upload using their modem/router. I believe the issue may have been due to our stone façade archway possibly obstructing the signal path.

I was about ready to package the cameras back up and return them, when I had the idea of adding another wireless router to piggyback to my network. I purchased a high end NetGear wireless router and installed it relatively close to the camera locations. Set up was easy. I re-synched camera 1 to the second router and all devices with no issues, and installed/synched camera 2. I installed L-View and L-Play to my desktop PC as my intention was to use my PC hard drive to record video. I did not install microSD cards in the cameras.

I spent the rest of my Saturday playing around with streaming and camera settings, which are easily done via Ping on iPad or L-View via PC. I found that the highest resolution and frame rate settings caused picture hesitation/jumping or pixilation on faster moving objects like passing cars. I settled on 1024x768 resolution and 15 fps, which appears to have minimized video quality issues to an acceptable level. I have recording set up as Motion, with sensitivity at 3. Night vision recording is decent to about 50 ft. I turned off notifications, as they are annoyingly frequent.

Using L-Play is fairly straightforward. I was initially getting an exception error every time I launched the program, but eliminated this by deleting the first folders that were established before I renamed the cameras. The biggest issue I have with L-Play is that you can’t use the playback slider bar to move to or select a specific timeframe when reviewing recordings. So if you see something you want to view again, you can’t move the slider bar back a few seconds to watch it again. To get around this, you have to back out of play mode and re-select a more narrow time span to playback the timeframe that you want to review and hit play again.

If L-Play was better, I would give this product 5-stars.

It was a little difficult getting to sales to purchase additional cameras. I had bought a 3 pack of LNC 216 cameras and wanted to add a 2 pack of LNC 226 cameras for outdoors. Once contacted, sales apologized for the delay, took my order and sent the cameras ASAP! Great service and a great product so far. I have not installed my outdoor cameras as of yet.

Recently installing 3 LNC 216 and 2 LNC 226 cameras along with the PING app on my IPad 1stGen I am very satisfied and impressed with the entire system. Of particular note are for both style cameras:

1) PING loads very fast to my IPad to bring up the camera views. Seconds, which makes use in an emergency almost instantaneous. I love the 'All' button to start/stop recording to all camera to my IPad.
2) With only position one in view able to be seen in full screen, the ability to drag and drop any camera to position one an easy alternative.
3) Having trouble scheduling microSDHC recording to start before midnight then to end by any time in the AM. Still looking though.
4) Nice that while viewing a microSDHC recording you can start/stop a transfer directly to my IPad pressing the record icon at the video top. The same with a snap shot.
5) There appears to be no run time display for a microSDHC recording when viewing as with an IPad recording. Also cannot delete microSDHC files directly?
6) At first it seemed a little ackward viewing recorded files in 5 minute increments, but it makes sense to me now to dial into a specific time easily.
7) In the user manual 19.1.2 it states you cannot save photos on an IPad 1st Generation. On my IPad 1st Gen it does this just fine.
8) Both Wi-Fi and Ethernet connections are great with extensive options using PING to tailor you camera as needed for both day and night.

Awesome camera system! We were looking for a surveillance system because of recent neighborhood break-ins. We're on a budget, so we wanted something that would give us immediate coverage without having to wait on the purchase of future components and that is why we picked these IP cameras; they work as stand alone equipment. We ordered the cameras on September 2nd and they were delivered on the 5th. That was fast! We were expecting them to take a week or more with the free delivery and were pleasantly surprised when they came much sooner.
Set up instructions seem a little daunting, but in hindsight they were spot on.
Our particular set up started with connecting the cameras directly to the router with the ethernet cable and going through the "Web Configure". After that we disconnected the ethernet cable, installed a 32GB mini SD card in each camera, and set up WIFI connection with all of our different devices (PC, Ipad, Iphone, 2 Androids). All of them accessed both cameras with no problems at all. Next, we set up email alerts; an email message with a snapshot is sent to my phone every time either camera detects motion. From the time I went to bed last night (11 pm) until this morning at 6 am, I received 176 alerts. The cameras' sensitivity are set to 3 (medium high) and catches everything from the neighbor across the street getting in his car (180' away) to moths flying by. Some of the surprises we saw was two different neighborhood cats visiting our house, a mouse run across our front side-walk, and the sheriff deputy who came to investigate a 911 call hang-up (our 2 year old grand daughter accidentally called 911 on her mom's phone at 4 am this morning, but that's another story for another time, lol).
Installation was pretty quick and easy; I actually installed a dedicated electrical outlet in our garage for one of the cameras, which took twice as long to do than installing the camera itself and the second camera required running an extension cord through the attic (will go back later and install a dedicated electrical outlet in the attic).
Night vision is decent, but we have a yard light on telephone pole and motion activated door lights. I expected to see night vision "white out" when the motion lights came on but that didn't happen. When we install future cameras they will cover the unlighted areas of our yard, then I will be better able to judge the night vision capabilities.
Overall, we're very happy with this product and will definitely be buying more components from Lorex. The only negative is the initial setup of the cameras, but I don't know how Lorex can make the instructions any clearer.

I bought the 2-Pack LNC226X camera set. I have had them setup for only a week or so and do not have any negatives to point out at this time. They were easy to setup and are performing as advertised. They are what I expected and deliver a very good picture with no interferences or blank outs. The windows computer, ios and android apps work perfectly. The only thing that I have not had a chance to test, and is very important, is the connections to the cameras from a different network other than the one they are connected to. I have them connected to my router via wifi - they can also be connected via ethernet cables.

Five Stars for now.

This camera pack works well for the most part. The video quality was good. The configuration was a little on the complicated side, but I managed to get the cameras to work. It would be nice if they were designed to use battery rather than AC power. This would eliminate the need to locate power source nearby & would make them totally wireless. Another point I don't particularly like is that the cable coming out of the cameras was kind of short. Finally, I found that the cameras were not as flexible as I hoped them to be in terms of mounting orientation. More specifically, the arm that connects the base to camera unit has holes only on one side allowing the camera to only pivot on one side. In other words, the camera can be oriented to point in any direction only if the base is mounted upside down (e.g. on ceiling or eave) or sideways (e.g. on the wall with camera pointing parallel to the wall). If the base is mounted on the wall with the camera aimed perpendicular to the wall, the camera can only be moved up or down but not left or right.

Ok I purchased two of these cameras. I am currently using four wireless with a Lorex monitor and they are working fine after almost two years. The new HD wireless gave me a world of trouble installing the software. The iphone and ipad took almost all day before I could view the cameras on the ping software. I kept getting a password error and finally I just changed the password again and again. The setup where you press the WPS camera button after providing your wifi password kept failing as well. I thought for sure that the cameras were lemons. Finally I got both cameras installed and viewable but then when trying to set preferences each category kept making me log in and it would only take the admin password although I had reset the password. Then when I tried the notifications it refused to accept password or preferences. The software is pretty bad! Everything is finally set up correctly but I have not placed them outdoors yet. The cameras will be high up on the outside and I'm just not confident enough until they have been in use indoors at different areas for me to gauge whether they will be as dependable as the old cameras. Stay tuned, will do update.

Experiencing exactly what Herzberg is describing.

The camera shuts off at night. It just flickers in and out. Its on ~75 feet of ethernet cable.

I figured it out - If i turn the mode manually from Night -> Day - it works! But no IR.

I think(?) it's drawing too much power with the IR lights in night mode to work over POE. This is very poor design to say the least.

I agree with the first reviewer that the connectivity is poor. I currently have four mounted, two are within proximity of my Comcast gateway (modem router), the other two are on the other end of the house and drops signals frequently. In fact, I rarely get acquired with the camera mounted on the far end by the garage. I have found that when the cameras are directly connected to a network via Ethernet cat5 cables, the signals never drops. Unfortunately I don't have the liberty to run cables throughout the house. I was sold on the WiFi wireless aspect of these cameras. Also a note on my farthest camera, I'm currently plugged in directly to a Netgear power line adapter on the interior wall of the garage and this alleviated the signal drop. The image is clear and closest to real time than the other cameras operating wirelessly.IR lumination is very poor at night, even up close.

In closing, the WPS button is a little tough to access if you need to setup your cameras when your network changes or you've replaced your broadband equipment. I can see that the four jeweler screws will get damage in time by removal and installation, not alone being lost during the WPS or physical micro SD card retrieval for downloads if software or camera is compromised. My suggestion is to use a smaller capacity micro SD card so the cameras can overwrite the images more frequently, other wise you'll have tons of files to look over. I'm currently using the max at 32GB. I should have learned this from my LNC216 cameras currently with 32GB as well. I do see a plus side if you're gone from your property for long periods of time i.e. several months.

The Windows/Mac L-view and iPhone Ping software seem pretty stable. The 16 channel software is only applicable to Windows. Recording to your computer seem flawless when I used motion recording. Hopefully Lorex will update software as time goes on. Hmmmm....Check the camreas web page on the features tab, under disclaimers number 2, "Up to 3 devices may connect to the system at the same time" this conflicts with the statement that Lorex advertises "Expandable up to 16 cameras" :-( Lastly, you're banking the entire system on the fact that your internet access (both wired or wireless) will not go down, if this happens, you're pretty much screwed. But, after all, this is a IP system dependent on your network, not a DVR/NVR. I'm not sure if the cameras continue to monitor with SD cards. I'll have to try this for a few hours. May post later with update and change my rating.

We just activated our cameras recently, They were very easy to install and have been great. The resolution and picture quality is wonderful. We have one by our pool and love being able to check on what is going on while we are not home.! The sound is also an added bonus. Overall, the product does what it is supposed to and the price is reasonable. We feel that it rates up there with other professionally purchased and installed systems that we have seen. We have not yet used the recording function...that is our next project. We are planning to purchase another camera soon!

This is a follow-up to my previous review. I added a Linksys RE3000W range extender and placed it as close as possible on an interior wall to my camera location. This solved the problem with the wireless connectivity and I'm getting full resolution now on the camera.

Otherwise, this is a great product.

I would give this product 5 stars except for the poor wireless connectivity. The video quality is excellent, with a good connection. The night vision feature works well and the motion capture never misses a thing. It really needs a better wireless antenna. If you don't put it within a close range of a router, it's resolution is limited. The applications also work well although it would be nice to see an application that supports Windows phones.
