1080p HD network security monitoring

1080p HD IP cameras

High Definition security monitoring leaves nothing to question. It may even prove to be the difference you need when identifying vital details such as license plate numbers or faces. The 2-megapixel image sensor records footage up to 30 frames-per-second to supply you with exceptionally smooth on-screen movement. 3D digital noise reduction (DNR) technology filters noise from your image for a cleaner, more accurate image.

Choosing the right security system

differences between Lorex MPX analog HD security systems and Lorex NVR security systems
MPX or IP? What security systems to choose? analog or digital?
Plug-and-play simplicity with Power over Ethernet technology

PoE security camera for simple installation

A do-it-yourself security camera company, Lorex is pleased to provide customers with security systems that feature a simplified installation process. The HDIP84MVD security system is no exception. Power-over-ethernet (PoE) technology is an all-in-one solution that uses a single cable run between your NVR and each IP camera. This cable provides both power and video transmission up to 300 feet / 91m (click here to purchase extension cables). This NVR can also incorporate a PoE switch. This switch allows you to minimize the amount of cabling required.

HD vandal-proof security cameras

Vandal-proof HD security cameras

The strong exteriors of the LNB3373B IP security cameras ensure remarkable protection against vandalism. Their IK10 (vandal-proof) rating means this Lorex security camera can withstand heavy impacts and is nearly impossible to destroy. Feel assured that this exceptional security camera is capable of looking after itself while it looks after you.

remotely adjust zoom with 3x optical mortorized zoom lens

Motorized varifocal lens with 3x optical zoom

The HDIP84MVD security system comes with security cameras that contain motorized varifocal functionality. This feature allows you to remotely adjust the field of view (FOV) of your security camera. Focus in on narrow pathways (down to 33°) or expand the camera’s view up to 93° for large areas like backyards or parking lots. These adjustments can be made remotely from your Lorex NVR, or from a connected mobile device.

We got this system after a series of break-ins in our neighborhood. The install was a breeze and the system works great.

We replaced our Ring drop cameras we were previously using as the quality of the videos was subpar. With the Lorex system we have true HD quality video.

The only downside is that the iphone app and system UI could be a little more intuitive. After using it, we have found it to be feature rich, just a bit cumbersome to use.

Overall, great addition to our home security setup.

Very easy installation. Everything worked perfectly. Very clear picture and within days motion detection search revealed a suspected wild life creature skulking around. Skunk traps have been deployed.
Night vision is very clear. Great product.

Excellent equipment - easy installation plug and play devices. Great quality video - only negative is the ability to choose the area that it senses motion to give you email updates. I am still working with tech support to get it to work right but tech support is good and available! Would recommend this to anyone.

Superb system! Very easy set-up. Hardest part was running the wires through the attic to the camera locations. Picture quality is amazing. Night vision very good, but 140 feet without any other light source is optimistic. Easy to access live stream & control system via the Internet on my iPhone & iPad. Have also given some others the ability to see a live view only stream. Apps are user friendly. System has been installed and running perfectly for 2 months. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

As easy as advertised. Everything arrived on time and well protected. Setup was simple. Installation was simple. So far I only had 1 question to ask and when I called and left a message Lorex called me back in under 15 minutes and answered my question clearly and concisely. I would recommend Lorex products to everyone.

Awesome system great customer service when open .. cameras work flawless . I had a hardware failure on 1 camera a short in the rj45 connector witch killed the camera I notified customer service by phone and the replacment camera and all information to return the defective camera was shipped out promptly . The dvr and remote access are 95% ease of use I only have personal issues with it thats why I give it 95%. Over all its a well put together system plug and play effortlessly simple as that . Will be adding more cameras to my dvr as soon as I run my 200 foot stretch of conduit to my shop .. Great buy!

My system is finally hooked up and running. I love the clarity of the picture. The HD sure makes a big difference. The night vision works well. The system was easy to install, and works great. My son in-law is looking into getting the same system for his house.

So far works good, as others have said fans are noisy, I would consider larger slower fan to keep noise lower, overall very good images from cameras. Would like to add more PTZ cameras to replace bullets in the future. I would recommend as a good system.

So far so good ... I purchased this product during the black Friday sale and so far the system is working as expected. The camera's images are very crisp and clear. Not unexpected and similar to other reviews for other NVR's the fan noise on the NR800 is quite loud, I'm surprised that Lorex has not addressed this issue given the number of comments across the site on their various products, there is fan/cooling technology available today that can address these issues.

Really nice end-to-end solution. Very user friendly. My big problem with Lorex products in general is that they're so user friendly that they restrict use by those of us who know our way around a network. I don't want to use your cloud service. I don't use Windows or a Mac. I just want access to the device in my home without having to jump through proprietary hoops. Yes, I understand that your video codec is really nice for real-time viewing, but it would be nice if you gave us more flexibility in how we view our own cameras. Only 2 stars for locking out consumers.

Easy to install. Clarity very good. Actually get more recording time on DVR than salesman postulated. Also, the dome cameras are manually adjustable for pan and tilt, then set screws lock them in place. This is my second system from Lorex. Very Happy.

My system is finally hooked up and running. I love the clarity of the picture. The HD sure makes a big difference. The night vision works well when the camera is pointed away from the house. I have a few cameras that are close to the house and pointed towards the house and I'm finding the night vision is not as good as I'd hoped. It's better with the light on but we don't leave the light on all night. Currently checking into motion lights and additional cameras. Waiting for a good sale here (hint, hint). My house has been broken into twice and I love having the cameras. The set up on my phone was effortless. I Love to be able to view my cameras from anywhere. My kids think it is creepy that I can see them coming and going. (I think it's funny) Over all I am very satisfied with the system. It is a great little system at a very good price and set up was a breeze.

This is a follow up review. I am now online so I am able to take advantage of keeping an eye on my house when I am away from home. I really love this feature! I love the clarity of the HD cameras in the daytime. I was able to adjust the color which was a plus. Not sure what purpose the remote control serves because it barely works. The DVR is rather loud. It sounds like a fan is blowing through it when it's on. Not sure if it's supposed to sound this loud or not. Because the DVR is in my bedroom, I have to power it off sometimes because I am a light sleeper. Other than the remote control and the noise of the DVR, I love my Lorex system so far.

After having our first Lorex surveillance camera system trouble free for 8 years we decided to get the 1080p system. WOW, what a difference. With this new system we can actually see clearly at night all through our front yard, back yard and street. We are pleasantly surprised at the clarity of all four cameras. And with a little searching through the on screen menu this system is very user friendly. The installation is pretty straight forward and easy and with a little extra time spent makes a nice looking installation. The only thing that bothers me is the noise that comes from the cooling fans in the recorder. I think a larger case with proper venting would have been a much better choice for it. But still, this is a great package for anyone wanting to see what's going on outside their house without opening your doors.

When and if our other system decides to stop working, we'll buy four more cameras. For some reason the recorder that is displayed here shows hook-up for four cameras and the recorder we received has hook-up for eight cameras. This is great because after seeing picture quality we won't hesitate to buy four more cameras.

The system was delivered promptly, but with the wrong size monitor. Using the customer service ticket, I had the correct monitor delivered in 2 days! Great customer service. The system was easy to install, and works great. I even had the local police dept. come out and check it out. They were impressed. This is a community system, so many people will be involved with it.

I purchased this system two weeks ago, and have long discussions with Lorex tech support, and my ISP. My ISP even came out to my house, but could not resolve my problem. It is too soon to make a judgement, so far, everyone has been helpful, but they can't seem to figure out how to open port 3000.

In view of the above, I feel the camera picture is the best quality, the DVR has many easy to use features and overall the system is a good, well built system. My problems aren't associated with the quality of the system, but the configuration of my computer, router, modem, etc.

One suggestion, it would be nice to have a way to make adjustments to a video that has been recorded. For example, I could not read the licence tag of a car, but I might have if I could have temporally adjusted the brightness, contrast, etc.

Once the port is open, and the system works on my iPhone, then it will get a solid five star.

FYI: I just installed a standard definition Lorex system in a customers house, and everything worked out of the box with no problems. That further convinces me my HD system's problem is with my router or modem.

This product is great. The cams are strongly built, I have used other Lorex product and I have to say this picture quality is awesome. I like the zoom feature. The video angle is great. Gives you a really wide angle view. The motion is really great as well, night time viewing looks great. works well in a well lit or in low light levels. Not much trouble in setting up the remote viewing, quality still very good. Was a little disappoint of the fact that the cams have no mic in them, that's a extra that u have to buy and run with your cam cable, in which that I was not made aware of when I ask about it or I would of purchase that at the same time, Also disappointed that I was not informed that the monitor was out of stock which caused me to still be waiting to finished setup as I have the system hooked to my main 52" tv, with cables everywhere, but still no monitor. All in all I am happy with this system, it is the best that I have purchase yet so far, I will be purchasing another for my store unless they puts mic's in the cams, then ill get that one cause face it one less cable for something is always better. Lol

The system was easy to install and the picture is really clear. Great and easy set up for the motion detection and easy to view previously recorded video. I would like to be able to read a license plate that is 20-40 feet away, but other than that I have no complaints about the system.

What a system! I'm a photographer and am really critical about resolution and color. This is the best system out there for the money or double what they charge. I'm extremely happy with the system and cameras. Now I just need to learn how to record and playback!

I would recommend this to someone who wants the best!

Great picture and program.
I asked for clarity and this system has it.
Thank you Lorex

Do wish the program would have AM and PM instead of just the 24 hour clock..
If it has it , I haven't found it yet.

AWsome HD

Pros: beautiful image quality, great play back over the web pc and i pad, top notch tech support, a snap to set up and use, reasonable price

Cons: not enough cameras, records at to lo a frame rate for my liking

"After owning an older Lorex system (trouble free for 4 years) I saw this HD system on costo's web site and decided it would be great to watch my house in HD. Any intruders can now be easily identified with details of their face. The image is supper sharp and the colors are dead-on. Being a previous user, the set up was a snap. No instruction manual needed. The hardest part was running the cables to where I wanted to place the cameras. Everything else was so easy evan a first time novice could set it up with out help. Setting up internet viewing can be a bit tricky but Lorex has great tech support if you need them. The only things that I would improve on are: an 8 camera system instead 4, the option of higher FPS recording, 5 fps is a tad jerky, 15 fps would be great, cameras with built in IR motion sensors would also be a plus. Of corse these things would add to the cost considerably.

All in all, I am extreamly satisfied with this product.

Lorex 4 Camera HD security system

Pros: 1080p, 100ft cables, hdmi output, tech support

Cons: could use more than 4 camera's but made do.

"I bought and installed the Lorex LHD1042001C4 system and would highly(!!!) recommend anyone looking for a survelliance system, to just buy this Lorex system. Don't count your pennies here, this system is WELL worth the little extra money you may need to spend, given the quality of picture (1080p) and technical support. Excellent technical support, can't praise them highly enough!! I absolutely recommend this system period. No major issues. Tech support took control over the internet and in about 20minutes, had the system up on my local net AND had remote viewing on my smart phone working AOK!

To give you a little background. About 4 months ago I purchased a competitor's 8 camera system(no names, but they were based in Australia - that I found out AFTER I purchased the system). I had nothing but problems with this competitors system, the HDMI output didn't work and when I called their tech support, it was the typical 'follow a script' tech support. I'm a technical person and was very frustrated with the level of support AND the lack of call back. I finally had to email them to get response, 1 week after my initial issue was found. This competitor's Support wanted to call me back on Sunday night(Monday in Australia) up to midnight my time. Heck, I work for a living...bottom line, the system was bad and I returned it for a refund.

Having gone thru that bad experience with the 'competitor', I put aside the effort to get a survelliance system because I didn't want to go thru that again. BUT...After some research I saw that Lorex was based in Toronto. I'm in New Hampshire and if Tech Support was in Toronto, no more 'Australia' contact problems! So I did a little more research and found the new HD1080p Lorex system and it was available through Costco! This system was great, HDMI output and 1080p picture!! I bought it via Costco, @3days later I had it in my little hands. I tested it on the table to make sure all was working and even put an active splitter(ViewHD 2 Port HDMI 1x2 Powered Splitter Ver 1.3) on the DVR's HDMI output and display on a local monitor and on a 25foot HDMI cable to a large flat screen TV. When I knew all was working, I snaked the cables and installed the system permanently. Works perfectly now for @2+ weeks. I really needed 6 camera's, but made do with the four(4) this system has. I'm hoping an upgrade will be available from Lorex in the future...I'm keeping my eyes open for it.

Bottom line, my experience with this Lorex LHD100 Series system has been a PLEASURE. The Tech Support folks are VERY competent and a pleasure to deal with! Not the 'follow a script' type support at all, rather a person that wants to know how they can help. The picture quality is clear and top notch and night vision works perfectly! If you're thinking of this Lorex system and it can fit your needs, just buy it. You will be very happy, I certainly am!!!"

"Being in the broadcast industry for many years, I wanted a system for home that was intuitive and had great images. Before I hung the cameras, I hooked the entire system up and I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the cameras in daylight and complete darkness. The HD quality cameras turned a beautiful image. The sharpness and color were much better than expected. I was impressed with the way the cameras could switch quickly with different light levels. It was actually quite fun to observe this. I was happy with the low noise level of the DVR and how everything stayed at a cool temperature. The system was recording before I knew it and it was whisper quiet.

I thought the interface on the DVR was very straightforward and easy to control. My internet installation was a bit slow, but I chalk this up to my internet provider’s router.

I bought this system to monitor my home while I was away and I am pleasantly surprised with the product. My only complaint was a new video cable arrived slightly frayed on one end. The cable worked, but could have be an issue over time. I offered this feedback to Lorex and they immediately sent a replacement.

I could have bought any system out there. I thought this one was at a fair price for the quality it delivers. Now I just have to choose between watching the late news or monitoring the cameras for wildlife jumping over the backyard fence. Great product."

Great HD package. Easy to install and get up and running with HDMI hookup to your HDTV. Smart search feature is great and allows you to play back video where motion was detected. Highly recommend.
