The NVR embedded software has many features grayed out and is none functional. Example: I catch an intruder coming into my home. He looks directly into the camera and I get a GREAT shot in HD quality (1080P but cameras are 3MP?). I play it back to pause and in that perfect frame I freeze it to "snapshot" a .jpg then transfer to my thumb drive; but my "Camera" icon is still grayed out.... hummmm! Lorex states that the only way that I can get that .jpg is to go to the FLIR cloud and download using their client software on my laptop. I have yet to figure out what good is the thumb drive if I can't do snapshots and backup recordings. The client software is NOT user friendly in saving clips of events. It will allow you to zoom in on a playback but only once; afterwards you have to close the program and reopen to zoom a different camera. The most amount of download saved recording time that I could acquire is 1.5 minutes (45 MB .avi); I had it setup for ~6 minutes on the laptop client software, it stated "Download complete" or something like that.
The Android App is GREAT when you are connected to WIFI in your house; but when you're on a cell tower ( the carrier will limit or slow down your data transfer) you may never get a video stream for one camera, much less 9 cameras. Everywhere I go I have to find WIFI (hotels, restaurants, malls, airports) to see my home. This model LNR613 has a weird footprint (15"x15"), it won't fit on a standard 12" shelf. Most DVR/NVR units are 12"x19" and are rack mountable, this one is not. Costco (Item #1066461) advertises the HDD to be upgrade-able to 12 GB but the specs here show only 8GB.
The most aggravating part of setup is that the password is NOT "000000" and you will have to call in to RESET the NVR with a special log-in.... expect to spend MANY hours with Customer Service and Technical support (90% of your time will be spent ON-HOLD) and the call back option rarely works.
POE and POE+ checkers and testers will NOT work with LOREX NVRs. Industry standard classes range from 20vdc-56vdc but they have 12vdc and the cameras get extremely hot compared to other mfgrs. This is why their disclaimers states "This HD NVR is compatible with Lorex PoE IP cameras only. It is not compatible with third-party IP cameras."
I have had too much trouble with this NVR and LOREX Support to give a good review.
