I bought four cameras and waste my money with it. This product never worked for me.... the connection is not stable and after be offered to upgrade the firmware the camera lost wireless connectivity. That could not be a big deal if Lorex firmware and the L-view software for PC were accessible, but have been a nightmare make this system work in my home and I feel like I waste my money on this trash.

Do not buy!

Thank you for your feedback. We're sorry to hear the cameras are not working for you. Our technical support team would be happy to help you resolve any issues you are experiencing. Please call us at 1-877-755-6739.

My internet provider can't cover HD in my area and the image is not crystal clear but even having poor internet I get a very good image . There is a delayof 6-7 seconds of movements ,I mean if I move my hand now ,I see that movement on my phone after 6 seconds ,is not big deal for me .I bought the cams on sale as open box so it was a good buy.I like watching my home remotely without paying monthly fees..This is the second 2 cams pack I ve bought and I am again very happy with it.

There is still a problem with delivery, I asked for white and I got black. It turned out I like black more but still is not what I ordered.

Follow up:
After a very cold winter with the cabin closed down for the season these cameras worked perfectly. It got down to well below zero inside and didn't skip a beat. It do plug in directly to the modem via a cat5 cable to eliminate the chance of a power outage taking out the WiFi. The cable modem will reboot itself if we do take a power hit. The WiFi will not. I also change the upload speed to the maximum of my cable modem speed I buy for the best pictures from the 2 cameras I have up. Look for that adjustment for the speed. It makes a big difference in picture quality. Good deal for the price.

I purchase two more LNC 104 cameras after my experience with the two LNC 104 cameras I purchased during Jan 2015. These cameras work superbly just as advertised. The two cameras I just received were as easy to set up as the first two. I use my iPhone 6 and Mini iPad to monitor the areas that my cameras are set for wireless viewing. Access away from home using the Lorex Ping app on a cellar service also works flawlessly. The pictures that are provided are clear both during the day and at night. The night vision feature works extremely well. I am very happy with my four LNC 104 cameras!

Purchased two LNC 104 cameras. Love how easy set up was using my wifi with my iPhone 6 and iPad. Set one camera up in my basement to monitor my water heater, the other for my garage. Both work flawlessly even away from home when using cellar data connections! I highly recommend this product. Tech support via telephone is excellent for helping me resolve a password reset issue.

I love the cameras and would like to add two additional cameras to my apartment at the sale price of my first set. I love the fact that I feel safe and to know when my apartment management comes in for updates on the apartment when I am not home, Love love love. I will be looking for another special with the same set of cameras The only problem I notice is at time to time when I am away from home and I check in on the cameras sometime the mic and the sound tabs are not available ?? I don't know why

A Little tricky at first when yu don't read the instructions fist you make mistakes. Read the instructions then install and it loads 1,2,3 and that was for both cameras which I recommend if you are able to go from room to room. This product gives my wife piece of mind since I use a walker and have fallen.

I am glad that I purchased this item and price was perfect .

I have purchased another set of these cameras. They are so easy to set up.
The instructions are easy to follow. I now have 4 of these in different areas.
I love the fact that they can be set up for motion detection and they send me an email saying
someone or something has crossed their path. What makes even better is that they send
a snap shot of who walked in front of them. So if it was someone breaking into my house I have their picture right on my smartphone. I put them on a battery back up so if power goes out they will still run for 6 hours.

I was skeptical of buying this two-camera deal because the price just seemed too low for all they were described to do. However, I received the order quickly, and the enclosed instructions for quick set-up were simple and easy to follow. I had a bit of trouble getting the wi-fi to work, but it was because I didn't interpret the directions correctly. The color is superb, and these cameras are more than I expected them to be. I found that once you understand what you can do as the Admin, it is a snap to configure the cameras to perform any way you want., both in color or Black & White. You can also nullify the led's, to make the cameras less discoverable for home security. Very, very pleased customer here, and will probably order another set for more coverage. I highly recommend this product.

The cameras were easy to set up both wired and wireless. The only negative I have is that the cameras are slow to display or don't display when viewed from our cabin. Most likely a ISP problem rather than a camera problem. We will be adding two cameras to the cabin today and it will be interesting to see if they have slow/no displays when viewed from home.
I have found that in our mild climate, the cameras have survived the outdoor environment. The two, of the 4, at home are very well sheltered under long overhangs and are positioned next to the house walls.
The cabin cameras will be inside looking out so will be protected from the cold and snow at Donner Lake.

I already owned one of these cameras and had been thinking of getting a second one. When I received the email offer for two for $149.99 plus a 15% coupon, it was a no-brainer. The cameras arrived in a few days and where a breeze to add to my system. Lorex cameras are the best out there. Ok... this model doesn't pan/tilt, but the quality far surpasses that of similar units in this price range.

Wow, what a great system!
I have tried 2 other systems from different manufacturers with no success. I bought an IP camera from Lorex and within 10 minutes had a security system in place and accessible outside my network firewall settings without having to give up any security!
I was so impressed by this cameras features and performance that I installed 2 more cameras. I just ordered another 2 cameras and plan to extend my monitoring capabilities. I currently have 2 cameras watching the pool & deck area which frees me up to do other things while the kids swim without me standing poolside. I can also interact with the camera that now watches the front door to. All this can be done from my mobile devices.

I am extremely satisfied with the pair of LNC116 that I got. Firstly, I bought it from the Lorex store and got discount using their promo code. The cameras were delivered on time and it was a breeze installing them. It paired right away with my wireless router which made installation even faster. After that and loading the softward cd in my laptop, all I had to do was find the right location to install the cameras. The view from my laptop was amazingly clear and has good color too. At this point, I know the next thing to do was to see if it works on my iphone. I just followed the simple instruction using Lorex Ping app from my iphone and it worked too as described in the manual. Overall, I am very happy and satisfied with this amazing and truly working product from Lorex. Eventually, I would probably would buy some more cameras as the LNC116 has the capability for 16 cameras total.

I already install a NVR 1080p HD with 4 cameras from Lorex. I really love the system and I decide to add more cameras. The problem is my system accepted only 4 cameras. I have the choice to change the receiver or to buy wireless IP camera.
I was surprised how easy to setup the wireless IP camera.
I have 2 apps on my IPhone. It's funny for me to check my home and to see my family even during my trips.
The image of wireless IP camera is not comparable to the 1080p camera, but with the price...

This camera works pretty well in day and night. I considered the HD version, but SD resolution is good enough for me. The L-View program is pretty good. The L-Play program is a little klunky. An alternative way to play a .crf video file from the camera on a PC is to change the extension to .mpg and then play the file in VLC.

With the original cameras tha LOREX sent me, SD Card playback on the Android app didn't work. I contacted tech support and then customer support, and LOREX sent me a pair of replacement cameras which are working fine.

This 2pack worked as advertised right out of the boxes without any major install issues. The instructions were clear and told me step by step how to hardwire the cameras to my wireless modem. After setup I disconnected the cameras from my modem and now can place them anywhere in my home and they work wirelessly. At the special sale price these 2 cameras are a bargain.

Terrific Camera I waited for an ip camera like this for a while, and i am glad i did. It can be used without leaving your computer on and you can access the video from a smartphone. The only reason i am rating this a 4 instead of 5 is because when I access the camera via smartphone, connecting is a little hit and miss. Sometimes is connects right away and sometimes it take a long time and then tells me there is no connection. My phone signal strength is very good. Overall, i really like the ablility to remotely monitor my home with both video and audio.
They need to update Lorex Ping software to be compatible with KIT-KAT. I believe that's why it cuts on and off as stated above
I give it 4. stars. would give it a 5 if it was compatible with Kit-Kat

This package is not worth purchasing. It is end of the line cameras that they've packaged and getting out of their inventory. No DDNS even in the features it says it has DDNS support. No built-in speaker, poor resolution. As a cheap camera the price might be right but it's better to get the newer models because these cameras are really LNC100's which doesn't mention it in the Package ID LNCPK2 code.

Excellent! It was extremely easy to order online and wonderful in fact that they ship from within Canada. It was trackable and fast. Would order from Lorex Canada again.

Installation was literally a "breeze". It was more easy than easy I thought and I was up & running in no time. The customability of setting alerts and the like was fantastic. This is definitely a product you should consider if you are looking for home security monitoring. Beats those monthly fee services anyday.

Best security camera for the money. Competes with more expensive wired security systems.
I know, I have a nice wired Lorex security camera system but I bought these to keep an eye on my aging parents that are close to needing full time care. Best of all, besides the picture quality, these are so easy to set up. I just added micro SD cards so that they can record and they are already notifying me of motion video, me working on the computer. I've also tested the 2 way talking by adding an external speaker, not a usable feature for me but its there never the less.
I am tempted to and think I'll buy an extra pair as a backup for my wired system. BTW, you can turn off all the lights so you're in stealth mode, sweet.
Lorex rocks. thank you

Great product. Easy to activate. Good quality pictures. After installing the LNR-200 series system on the exterior of my place, I decided to install some interior monitoring. SIMPLICITY that works like a CHARM
Just got this product last week, have had a Lorex wireless system in the past (2years ago) that was top of the line in my books. Now with these new cameras its just getting easier to set up and with higher quality even in a smaller package (the Camera is very small compared to my previous ones) and you get surveillance whether you are with your smartphone over LTE or on any computer over wifi anywhere in the world!
Mind blowing in my opinion? Great product Lorex!

I purchased two of these cameras. I have been trying to get an IP camera that I could use with my smartphone. These cameras were simple to set up. It took me a less than 10 minutes to have them up and running. I use one in my home in NH and the other one will be going into my camper in Florida so I can moniter the dehumidifier in it during the summer months when it is closed up. The one up north will moniter the heat in the house during the winter months when I am not there. I am planning on buying one or two more.

Lorex might be a leader in technology but they are at the bottom in terms of technical support. This device is NOT easy to set up. I admit I'm not a tech wiz so the support was important to me but I must have spend nearly 10 hours already with tech support....most of it on hold. Then when I do get through it's an overseas tech with minimal skills. It's been a huge frustration. If anyone from Lorex really reads this AND cares please HELP!

Bought camera to watch my 3 dogs while I was on vacation. Set up was very easy. Could us the Wi-Fi connection but my Wi-Fi signal for where I put the camera was not very strong so I wired the camera to my modem. Watched though my I-Phone and never had any problem with connecting to the camera. Since my vacation I now use the camera every day to watch my dogs while I am at work. This was the best purchase I have made this year. I love it.

It took a little work to get it up and running wirelessly but once up, it works great! Go to the Lorex website and watch the setup video, the instructions in the box aren't clear, hence the video recommendation. I'm using this to watch my dogs while I'm at work, I'd like to get a couple of more to place around the house but will wait until it goes on sale again.

Caution if buying this for security and if you use lights on timer. You won't be able to keep up with all the notifications. Adjusting this is not clear. We installed 2 at a 2nd home and it's enough of a problem to disconnect notifications making them relatively useless. One technician told us after 30 minutes in queue for technical, that it is bc of the IR feature which is detecting temperature changes and that we must be at the location to make this change. We called again when we got to the home (+700 miles away!!!!). Longer wait and technician answering this time said he'd have to have a senior technician call to fix this. He could/would not create a ticket # for this saying he couldn't and would not provide his ID to reference back to him (Indian fellow named Sean - sure!). Called back and they were closed. Sent message. Got callback a few hours later. This guy said it's not possible to adjust and turn off temperature sensitivity which totally contradicts the first instruction. Gave some setting suggestions for motion sensitivity instead but I had tried those before and it didn't work. Every security post says have lights cycling. Choose between the two - avoid someone seeing your property as a target or let them come in and then try to see them in the dark with your camera.

Lorex's CVC6999U is stunning. when used on smellar monitors (maybe 20 or so monitor sizes) the quality is sharp, but with my 46 HDTV its a little sloppy, though i understand this as a 1080P tv is alot for that to push. nightvision is pretty awesome, and you can recognise figures pretty easily. colors are accurate, and the mount is solid as a rock.for those of you who are up north, or in harsh enviornments, you'll like this camera. some nights it got to -1 below, and the camera worked fine, also through a few snowstorms it held its ground.a change of seasons with raining heavily, and it does great, also in high temps such as 90-100 it worked fine. i love this camera, and have others with buisnesses hooked on it. in fact, the guy loves it so much, hes ordering two more. lorex did great this time..

Lorex Live Ping LNC-104 It Works!

Lorex Live Ping LNC-104 I do not understand why all the bad reviews. Probably problems with their home network. I have four of the LNC-104 cams and it was

easy to set up. I have all on my Android v3.2 smartphone, easy peasy I have L-View (Lorex, free software) on my laptops (Win XP Pro) and can view the cams anywhere I have WiFi access. I have decent data rates (best on smartphone). I can talk into my smartphone and can hear excellent quality sound at the LNC-104 with my optional speaker plugged in. Cam resolution (640x480 max) and data rate are settable. This is a trade off between data rate and resolution since it is going over the LAN and internet but I have a 1GB LAN so locally it is fast. That is a lot of data for four cams but my LAN supports it. You can view four cams at once with L-View but only one at a time on the smartphone. Wish these were outdoors cams. But with a little thought I got the cams to work through the windows for both day and night vision. Night vision is excellent. Day vision color pops on (640x480 res max) at sunrise and is very good until dark when B&W night vision takes over. The documentation could be better regarding setting up FTP and NAS recording. I used WPS on my router to connect. Two button pushes for each cam and I was connected. Amazing!

This camera really works great! I got this so I could check in on my dogs at home. It works fantastic. There are many variables that you can set for it to alert you. Motion or inferred. You can set up schedules so that it wont e mail you pictures if it sees movement during a time that you know someone will be there. So for the set up. It was not quite as easy as I would have liked but really close. I bet I had it working in under 5 minutes. I could not get the wireless set up to work so I set it up wired and then it worked fine on the wireless system. This could also just be me but I am OK with most computer stuff. I enjoy being able to check on my girls during the day an this is a great camera. I do hope to get more in the future

We are fostering a dog that has a severe case of separation anxiety. We purchased 3 of these cameras to help keep an eye on her and try to get her adjusted to being alone in small increments. we purchased these because of the ability to have an app on our phone that we could watch her and know when we need to get back. The cameras work great, we're very easy to set up, however the app has been a let down. Its buggy, sometimes has no sound, sometimes it says "can't find camera". But if you look at the cameras on our laptop they are fine. So its definitely the app. I have 3G my huband has a 4G phone, and we both experience the same issues at the same time, in different parts of the state. We have also even seen these errors while on wifi. Overall, we are glad we have them, but really wish the app was better. If you hook up a. speaker to 1 of the cameras you can also talk through it, which is nice for us to be able to talk to her when she's getting really upset, it usually stops her for the moment. Also amazone was cheaper than best buy.. who wanted $300 for 2 cameras, amazon allowed you to buy singles for $120, much cheaper than best buy!

Works great, easy to use, I would have given it 5 stars, but the base that it sits on is not tight and it will not stand up well in it's own so it has to be propped up next to something (very annoying) or it will fall over. If you were going to used this bolted somewhere there would be no issues. Careful if you use the email setting with motion, I recommend setting up an address just for the webcam as it will send you a notice EVERY time something moves (depending on your sensitivity) and it can overwhelm your email. I purchased this because I have a preteen who comes home after school for an hour before everyone else and I wanted to know when she got home. (She calls, but this lets me know the minute she walks in the door). Works great, recommend, but hope they fix that base.

I was nervous about leaving my pets and house alone while I was on vacation. Although I had someone coming in every couple of days, I wanted a little peace of mind. Last year I bought a competitor's camera. The picture was lousy and it had to be power cycled every day or two. The smart phone interface left a lot to be desired. Knowing the concept was sound, I bought 2 LNC-104's from Costco as a package. Within 15 minutes, I had both cameras up and running and viewable on my PC both my phone and Ipad. The picture is clear and the Apps work great. This was money well spent.

The best way to review this product is to simply list the pros and cons. I've addressed all the features that the manufacturer used to promote this product.

Pros & Cons:

1. You can easily record, play, and share. In addition, you are able to record directly to the camera, your smartphone, tablet, PC or Mac. This manufacturer claim is not an overstatement

2. Dual motion detection. Advanced audio & motion sensors with smart video motion detection. This is true. It has great audio.

3. You are able to see four camera views if you have four different cameras. I thought the view was a bit narrow. The camera coverage is limited. It should be made to cover a wider range of view.

4 Quick setup - Setup was quick and easy.

5. Activate your camera by simply scanning a QR code with your smartphone or tablet - The activation worked seamlessly.

6. It would have been nice if the camera included a zoom view. The software has an option for tilt and zoom, but the camera is not able to perform this task.

7. The software interface looks outdated.

This is not going to be a very good review. I bought this camera because of the specs I read on this web site 104. I worked on trying to get this camera to work sending out email alerts. The specs and the manual both either say it can be done. Enter lorex help desk. First I was asked if I read the manual. I say yes. Then individual got remote connection to the camera. Open up the L-View then was gone for a few moments. Upon return he said that the 104 did not have the capabilities to send email alerts. Every thing in the manual and spec sheet related to smart phones etc. I informed him that I went on the actual web interface where it shows a variety of configurations. His replay was that they use the same web interface with other cameras.

This is my second Lorex product, first being a wireless camera setup, that served me well,

but was time for an upgrade. My order was delivered last week and I finished installation over the weekend. Very pleased with this product and detailed configuration settings, great picture clarity. One thing that would be useful is a protective cap for the Ethernet tips, the connectors can get damaged if threaded through concrete holes, but I simply covered them with duct tape, worked well. No problems with remote setup on PC, I manually configured the Bell 2Wire modem's application support, works smoothly. One thing I wouldn't mind is a volume control on the audio alarm, I set up the motion sensor and when it goes off I find it rather loud, perhaps there is a setting I haven't noticed? Just one other issue, I have motion detection enabled, and on very low settings it gets triggered on shadow movements from the surrounding trees' leaves blowing. At night, the bugs flying around near the camera are worse for triggering the sensors off, I have the sensitivity at second level from the bottom, and I have selected the trigger areas. Perhaps a size setting for motion? So that small objects don't set motion off. Also I wouldn't mind Quick menu through the remote.

Over all I'm very pleased with this purchase

Terrific Camera I waited for an ip camera like this for a while, and i am glad i did. It can be used without leaving your computer on and you can access the video from a smartphone. It was a little tricky setting up as i do not have a router that supports WPS and i limit my router access by mac address. (install camera manually without limiting mac address and use mac address reported by your wi-fi router. Then enable mac filtering.) After that and ensuring you place your cameras within router range, the system works well. Give it 4.5 stars.

Pros: easy to setup, clear night time video feed, easy viewing on portable devices and computers

"Excellent cameras. I got these to keep an eye on the cleaners as they work while I am away. The cameras were easy enough to setup if you follow the four setup steps on the instruction page. Just connect the power, wait for the red LED to stabilize and then connect via WPS.

I was instantly able to watch the videos on my iPhone through the Lorex app. The app allows you to scan a QR code on the back of the camera to instantly register it, which I think is great given that the other option is to manually type a 9 digit camera ID number.

I also installed Lorex's L-View on my laptop and it works great too. I did not try accessing the cameras through the web-URL so can't comment on that. Night time video quality exceeded my expectations. Although it displays in grey scale, the feed was crispy clear. I am using these cameras with Netgear's N900 router with a 20 Mbps internet connection, so for those who are experiencing poor night time video quality, see if the router/internet speed is the issue. Overall, I love these cameras and will recommend them to anyone who wants a decent home surveillance system

I bought 2 of these on sale at Costco's online dept so that I would not worry about my house and shop while we are away on trips and it fits the bill for that perfectly! Not only that but the sale price at Costco was even cheaper than they sell them here at Lorex.com Setup was fairly easy and there is an online portion where you can log in on any PC and actually check each of your cameras. That's especially handy if you have the motion and heat detection function set to email your cellphone or laptop when it detects movement in your home. On the downside, the cameras occasionally do not auto-detect on boot-up and I have tpress the WPS button on my router and the button on the camera again. After that they work fine. I actually have decided to buy two more of these units before the sale ends at Costco.com. cheers!

I ordered mine from a big warehouse store, not amazon, but the product is excellent. I can drive all over town and keep connected to the cameras in my house via my cell phone flawlessly!. It works MUCH better than I thought it would and the only installation you have to do is simply put it where you want it and plug it in. I am so impressed. The iPhone app works great on an iPhone 5 an iOS 6.1.1.

I really think the people who could not get it to work must be completely inept with computers, because it took all of a half hour including installation time. Set it, and forget it, lol.

That being said, for the same price as 4 of these cameras you could get a 16 channel system with better resolution cameras and a 1TB DVR. However, the key to this system is the fact that it is wireless and you can still view it from anywhere you have a cell phone.

Pretty amazing really.

The one criticism I will give it is the viewing angle. The amount of space that you can actually see is very small. Don't expect to get 1 camera and view an entire room. You'll get 1 camera and view 1-2 corners of a room.

Lorex's LNC104 Wireless Network Camera is an excellent way to have "peace of mine" about your house, children or workplace no matter where you are. Since i have Apple computers, it involved downloading software to get it to work on my computer, but I found it easy to set-up by hooking-it-up first using CAT5 cable, then going wireless. The iPhone app allows you to easily view what is going on anywhere you have 3G or better reception, and you can easily record what is happening with the click of a button.

The infrared light allows you to see in absolutely total darkness, and the micro memory allows you to record what is happening even if the wired or wireless connectivity goes out.

I gave it only four stars because it did involve downloading software to get it to operate, and once you download it, you really have to "tweak" it to get it to work on the WiFi.

Excellent camera that can be used as a stand alone or in a multi unit setup. Extremely easy set-up when using the optional WPS button found on most new routers, however that process becomes less clear when using a router without WPS. The issue then becomes configuring the camera for both admin and network purposes. Here the instructions could be better written so for example... the user easily understands that the setup on line 6, page 22 of the instruction manual is asking for the WIFI password/passphrase used to authenticate to the router.Additionally, The iPhone app seems to have issues connecting from outside networks, and it continues to search for the camera without connecting. When using the ipad it seems to easily connect where the iphone cannot

Works Great When Set-Up

This camera works great once it is set-up. The operative word in this sentence is "set-up". I don't care what camera you buy; the set-up process can be excoriating. This one was no exception. After following the set-up procedure multiple times, I did what you do when all else fails, I turned my iPhone off completely and waited for it to reboot. Camera worked fine after this highly technical maneuver.

Fairly easy to set up and use. Best feature is that you don't need a third party to host and forward the transmission of images. Nightime viewing can be problematic, but daytime viewing is excellent, and you can hear what is going on, as well as see. This is my third surveillance camera, from three different manufacturers (the other two were Linksys and Trendnet). This is the best, by far. Can view images on my IPhone.

I have a LNC104 wireless camera and am satisfied with the way it performes. I was very impressed with the simplicity of installing the camera, it can be installed in less than twenty minutes. The only issue I had with the camera is my internet service, I am on satallite and the system requires a certain mbps upload to perfore well. I do recommend this product.

Live Ping Cameras: Great Value

I love my LNC104 Ping series cameras, but note, this IP camera line does not support DDNS. This is a small technical inconvenience in that the LNC series can be accessed remotely via the L-View software or via one of Lorex's mobile device Apps.

Excellent Camera

We love our Lorex 116 cameras. They provide me such peace of mind while I'm away. Being able to logon from anywhere, including by smartphone, and check on my areas is a terrific feature, and the wireless feature makes them so versatile. The camera clarity is excellent, even in lower light, and the sound is incredible as well.

I Bought 2 of the LNC104N and had them set up. They are really cool and I even hooked up external speakers so if there was motion they would trigger an alarm. Also the motion detection through e-mail is great. Really easy to set up and only thing I had to have a new power cord sent out free of charge due to the default in the old one. Over All Love the Product.

great cameras, easy set-up

I purchased 4 cameras & they work great. I messed up in naming 2 of them & customer service called me & walked me through the process-after I blamed them for faulty equipment. They were great 7 so are the cameras!

Good for price

I bought 2 of these for keeping an eye on my Golden Retriever. Setup was easy and the Android app works well. Viewing from a remote computer is another story. Tech support was not well versed in how to do this. I gave up and just use the android app. Would definitely recommend these to anyone.

Super easy setup!

I have another brand security camera and I still haven't figured out how to access it away from home. This camera was super easy to set up and install. I installed the Ping app on my iPhone and iPad and I can view it from anywhere. Best purchase I ever made. The picture and sound are perfect. I highly recommend it to anyone.

I did a lot of research and chose the Lorex based on features, price and ease of installation. Initial setup took about 15 minutes (couldn't get wireless to work using IPhone app, but switched to PC installation and figured it out. Camera works well and offers tons of features regarding recording and scheduling options. Their are a lot of settings that are pretty intuitive and with manual, it was pretty easy to tweak..

Overall, great product and reasonable price for what you get.

I bought this for the fact that it looked easy to set up and move around to different areas. I did have some problems at first connecting to my internet but was able to figure it out on my own eventually. It has a good picture and you can access it away from home which is a plus.

I bought this for use as a baby monitor system. The hope was that I could use the video and audio monitoring features. The baby is not here yet, but I am not sure that the mic is going to be sensitive enough. We will see...

Still a great product!

I do agree that image quality is good and there is a lot of setting to play with and tune it to your taste.

Software is average at best, e.g, keep asking you to upgrade to new software, remotly re-flash your device (3-5 minutes duration) and then ask you to upgrade again as if nothing happen....

But the big drawback is the sound quality: there is a permanent loud clicking (bursting at few hertz) when you monitor it remotly.

I believe it's due to some mechanical switching inside the camera because I can hear it from the camera itself when getting my ear close to it. For this high-end price category, this is not acceptable.

The suport line was overly busy, so I left a ticket on their website (need a account) and will see if they reply to it.

Returning the camera because it did not live up to expectations. In particular, it is advertised as compatible with Android, with no caveats. Nevertheless, it did not work with my Samsung tablet operating on ice cream sandwich or with my Android smart phone, also with the most recent Android OS. This incompatibility made the product useless to me, since I can't monitor it on these devices. I can say that the set up of the camera itself went relatively flawlessly, but that does me no good whatsoever if I don't have monitoring ability.

I've been casually looking for a simple home surveillance system for quite a while, and decided to give this a shot. It's certainly not something you can easily hide (the status lights don't help), but if you want something visible or it doesn't matter whether anyone sees it, it's OK. I hooked it up to my router and set everything up on my MacBook. It was surprisingly easy. I left the camera on and went to work, then logged in with my Android phone. The picture quality isn't fantastic, but for the price it's good enough. Most of all, it's just a really cool little camera that will let you watch an area from anywhere you have an Internet connection. I'm impressed.

This is a nice IP based camera. It has some nice features, but is also lacking in a few areas.

Pro:

* Flexible - wifi or wired, and comes with either a stand or a mounting bracket and screws.

* Can be controlled from a iPhone or android device (in addition to regular laptop of course).

* Setup is a cinch. The "scan the QR code with your phone" is somewhat misleading since all the QR code contains is the serial number - you still have to install the app on your device, set it up, and enter all the other info manually.

* Can store images remotely on your mobile device, or on the camera.

Con:

* While it can use a wifi network, it doesn't have any batteries, so it needs to be connected to an AC adaptor.

* The picture quality is what I'd call "security camera grainy".

* The motion alarm is way too sensitive.

UPDATE: Lorex sent me a replacement and it appears to be working fine. Thanks much to Vlad at customer service. It appears that the bad had a weak antenna or some other bug that kept making it come offline.

I've played around with the SD recording, the NAS and the remote recording. Very cool.

Summary: Overall 4-1/2 stars. Amazing network camera which set up easily with one minor hiccup, works great on my laptop and Android 4.0 device! Perfect for real time security, house sitting or nanny cam. On board SD or NAS recording! Wow.

For those who aren't into the TV show "Breaking Bad," there is this Fastfood Manager/Drug Kingpin who has a network of surveillance cameras feeding his camera. I couldn't help thinking of this after I set this camera up and had a huge grin as I surveyed... my garage.

Setup was very easy, even though I don't have WPS. WPS makes it super easy to "handshake" a device and your router, so I was doing this the hard way. Most people probably won't have WPS. In this case I installed the software straight from the CD (Note to Lorex: it's "Software" not "Sofware" Other than the typo, it installed fine on my quad core Toshiba laptop running 64 bit Windows 7.

Size? The camera is about as large as a pack of cigarettes. Nice looking and innocuous except for the blinking red and blue lights. You can change the settings so the lights are out once the camera is linked. In general, there are TONS of settings that the average person won't care about. For a tech geek like me though, I was impressed.

How wide is the picture? I have it mounted on the back wall of our 2 car garage and it *Just* covers the 16 foot wide opening. A little geometry says this is about a 42 degree included angle - I'd personally like to see something wider for interior surveillance, but then it would be too wide for outside work. I wonder if they could do something with clip on lenses to allow the user to select. Just a thought.

Here is the tricky bit - the program, after installing, didn't show up. I had to manually navigate in windows to C > Programfiles(x86) > LOREX and run "L-View.exe" From there everything worked fine.

From there I followed the directions in the quick start guide and had the camera running on the network in about 5-10 minutes total. I should note that after setting up the camera on your network this way, it still remembers the wireless network - I unplugged the camera and moved it to the garage. After plugging it in it did take perhaps 3-4 minutes to boot up and reconnect to my router.

The mounting bracket appears to be metal - very nice and initially very good for the camera, but I had perhaps twisted it around a lot trying to read the QR code after I mounted it, so it no longer held the exact adjustment I wanted. There's a set screw I may be able to tighten - my advice is to pass on the QR code which didn't work on the iPhone anyways - it only saves you from entering a 9 digit number.

I installed the app on my smartphone(HTC EVO LTE running Android 4.05). This was *very* simple. Also installed on my wife's iPhone 4S. I had to enter the camera number manually instead of using the QR code while the Android worked fine for the QR.

*LIKES*

- Easy to set up

- Decent video - 3-5 FPS with 64-128 kbps

- Good sound included

- 640x480 resolution on the network, fiddle with your smartphone settings to bump up from 320x240

- Switches over to night vision automatically when lights go out

*DISLIKES*

- Clock on camera is off by 12 hours - I suspect this is because it copied the system time from my computer but not AM/PM

- Android version lacks video recording feature available on IOS (Perhaps it's my phone but I doubt it)

- Had to manually find program on hard drive after installation

- Mounting ball/socket loosened - had to tighten with screwdriver but it loosened again - will have to get some Loctite.

- Occasionally takes an extra try or two to connect from my smartphone

I have some contractors coming over tomorrow to do some work - I hope they don't take offense that I'll be watching from my office! (My wife will be home most of the time they are there)

My sister had the housesitter from hell a couple of years ago - she's planning to get some remote cameras next time. This one will be perfect. I'll probably relocate this to the family room so I can see (and hear) the family from the office or make sure the kids to to bed on time when we go out from dinner....

Text (read-only): Having used and reviewed other security type camera products the drawback has always seemed to be connection.

Trailing wires, so called window mounted wireless cameras and so on are good, but often a pain to locate easily, without too much set up.

No system is perfect, and although it's not really a complaint, when are we going to get one of these with a rechargeable battery pack to make it 100% portable?

The set up is very straightforward as long as you have a newer WPS enabled router.

The kit comes with a hard line Ethernet connection for initial set up, and you will have to piggy in the middle set up between you computer and router while you run the installation.

The bracket (stand) can be free standing, wall or otherwise mounted, just remember if you intend to have it in a fixed location, it does have to be near an electrical outlet, so you may want to consider something like Wiremold C110 White Cordmate Kit to make it look neat and tidy.

The unit enables you to record footage direct to your smartphone or tablet, or on the included integral SD card - a word to the wise here - you will need preferably a class 10 card for efficient recording, older cheaper cards will actually interrupt the recording if they are too slow.

Connecting it to your phone is as easy as scanning the barcode of the device. You have to install the "ping" app from the website, on your phone or tablet, but it's compatible with most operating systems out there.

Picture quality and video with the right SD card (there is NOT one included) is good in normal daylight, or interior well lit rooms, don't expect high quality at night. In fact the dual lens "night vision" which boasts up to 20' is not ideal, and very grainy black and white.

Another nice (if not standard these days) feature is the motion sensor that activates and then signals your phone or PC if you have it set up for alerts.

If you are away from home and using something like jump desktop for example, as long as your home PC is on and running(and that's where the Ping software is setup) you can monitor the camera from your own PC, from any PC anywhere, kind of cool.

Overall it's a nice package, not cheap, but not that expensive either. With many additional features, including the option to monitor simultaneously on several devices it's a good addition 6to any home or office (even garden) security. More cameras can be added to give whole home or business protection.

Not a good night camera

Camera is okay for its price. If you need to use it during day time, it is fine. It says on the box that it is a day/night camera, but when using it at night, or even when it is a little darker, a few lights turn on. They are very strong lights and it is VERY annoying. Night camera should not do that??? The recording Software is not so great.

Very good IP camera with caveats.

What's great about it: Excellent video even in low light plus LED lights worked well up to 15 feet.

What's not so great: Wall mount bracket, Wi-Fi

Excellent video with very good low light capability. Wall mount bracket limits your postioning capabilities. If you set it on a table or shelf, the camera cannot be pointing down at all which restricts your positioning flexibility. For maximum flexibility it must be mounted on the ceiling or a wall. The reason I ended up returning the camera pertains to the Wi-Fi capabilities. All of my other wireless computer equipment uses 802.11n with WPA security but the Lorex can only handle 128-bit WEP security or lower. I was not about change my whole Wi-Fi network security level down to WEP just to accomodate this camera. In this day and age I am surprised that it would not support 802.11n and WPA security. I would highly reccommend this camera to anyone who does not share my concerns above. The quality of the product is also very good.

Great IP Camera

What's great about it:

What's not so great: harder to set up than written but not too bad

I installed it in the backroom for when we are not home. So far it has been a lot of fun spying on my wifes cat with my iphone. I think her cat has some psychological issues as he seems to be chasing ghosts

Nice Internet Camera

What's great about it: The setup is easy

What's not so great: Does not have IR night vision (It has only regular LEDS for night vision)

The camera is very easy to set. Picture quality is good. However I am disappointed with the nightvision capabilities. It has only regular LEDS to power-up in low light and is not effective.

Great for indoors... but make one for the outdoors

What's great about it: The camera is modern looking, so it's not an eye sore.

What's not so great: It cannot go outside in the elements

It’s a great little camera for someone that isn’t a handyman. However it’s not designed to be outside in the elements. Lorex please make a weatherproof lne3003 as I would like one that can watch the back of my shop, & the parking lot out front.

Even though it works fine, I think the price is too high.

Nice Camera

What's great about it: Easy to install and use

In the past month there has been a rise in garage break-ins, so I went looking for something to help protect my belongings. I stumbled upon the LNE3003 and decided to try it out as it seemed simple to use and I didn’t have to buy a huge system. The LNE arrived last week and I installed it with ease! I was impressed with just how easy it was to get it up and running!!!! Lets just hope my garage isn’t the next target, but I do feel more secure with the camera..

A wonderful little helper

What's great about it: Works in the dark

I bought this camera for my 7yr old son’s bedroom for when I have to do reports on the computer from home. I attached a spare monitor I had to my laptop so I could have the software on at all times on the spare monitor. It works great even when he turns off his lights to play with his glow in the dark toys.
