I have appreciated these cameras, most of the time. One downside has nothing to do with the cameras, it's been my wireless dsl router. A week ago it was replaced and I don't think the cameras have lost signal since. Before it was 2 to 3 times a day they would go searching for the wireless signal.
I installed these cameras because my elderly Mom has fallen while working in my kitchen, so these are indoor cameras that give me some peace of mind when I know she is cooking for a group. I have not yet installed the 3 camera, but am expecting to mount it to watch the stairs.
Probably due to my router, but I have had to reset these a few times. And there was a time or two that I could not remember my password to make changes. But the bar code system works good. The alarms are also sweet as they notify me on my Android for either motion, noise, or heat. I had some guests staying with me and finally turned this feature off because they kept tripping it.
The resolution is good. I'd like the lens a bit wider angle. The microphone is scarily good - I've sat there listening to others talk about me on the phone. Enlightening. Overall I'm happy with the purchase and it is only the cost right now that is keeping me from upgrading to a digital HD system for the exterior of the house. But with 5 years on the initial BNC cameras, they are starting to show the wear.
I HAVE PURCHASED 8 CAMERAS FROM COSTCO.COM 4 OUT OF 8 CAMERAS I HAD TO RETURN BECAUSE OF POWER LIGHT CONT. STAY ON. WHEN THIS HAPPENS THE CAMERA FREEZES AND THERE IS NOTHING I CAN DO. EVEN WITH RESET BUTTON DOES NOT WORK. SO I RETURNED 4 CAMERAS AND PUCHASED THESE 3. I DON'T WANT TO RETURN ALL 8 CAMERAS BECAUSE I INTALLED AND UP ALREADY. I AM REPLACING THESE 3 WITH NEWER MODEL NUMBER SO I AM HOPING THAT POWER LIGHT DOES NOT TURN ON CONT.
I initially loved these cameras and once I received a software update on my phone and updated the cameras, one stopped working completely. I called tech support and was very discouraged by the what they had to offer. Very disappointed in their lack of empathy or listening around what was actually happening. They informed me that I did not complete my warranty request, which I remember completing though there is always an opportunity for this to be my fault, and stated that is broken, ticket closed, so sad too bad. I attempted to escalate this with the warranty department and did not get far so now I have one working well, one working partially and one dead just after one year. I will now research other products from other manufactures to protect my property.
Thank you for your feedback. We are happy we were able to resolve this for you. Should you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact us at 1-888-425-6739. Thank you.
I WAS INITIALLY THINKING ABOUT RATING THIS AS A 2 STAR BECAUSE OF THE CAMERAS BEING OFFLINE SO OFTEN AND HOW DELAYED THE PLAY BACK WAS ON MY ANDROID BUT SINCE THE RECENT UPDATE I HAVE BEEN VERY HAPPY WITH THIS PRODUCT ALTHOUGH THE UPDATE WAS 3 WEEKS AGO ITS BEEN GREAT THUS FAR. I WOULD RECOMMEND THE PRODUCT.
PICTURE CLARITY IS GOOD FOR US SINCE ITS FOR INSIDE USE, THE NIGHT VISION IS GOOD, THE SIREN IS REALLY WEAK,
After reading all the reviews I am sorry to say I haven't had a positive experience. First the unit lacks certain key functionalities such as the ability to turn off and on with a single stroke and you cannot schedule them to turn on in the evening and turn off the next morning; always get an error code of "start must be before stop." It is an AM PM issue and no apparent way around it. I called tech support about issue of off and on and his reply was, "that would be a really nice feature to have." Picture quality is good, the siren is weak and so is the audio. My units have a habit of going off line and require me to unplug them before they will restart.
The units are highly rated but not right for me. They seem to be well built and are aesthetically pleasing.
With all that being said, 3 days ago I requested a return for a refund. I still give them 3 stars, I think if i was a little more tech savvy and they had the desired functionality they would be as good as others say they are.
I purchased 3 of the new HD cameras to keep an eye on our house when we're gone. As other users have stated, the setup is very easy especially if you use the WPS connection on your router. I also have some of the non HD camera's and can't see any big difference in picture quality in a side-by-side comparison.
Also, one of the three cameras stopped working in the first two days. It lost connection and now won't connect to the router. I'm working with Customer Service for a replacement.

I purchased the Lorex HD 720p Wireless Wi-Fi Camera. Prior to purchasing the cameras, I watched the video that claimed how quick and easy the setup is. After receiving my cameras, I followed the same instructions on the video and on the manual, and the setup was truly that easy and simple. Once the app is located and downloaded, the rest is quick and easy. I am able to connect to the camera via mobile or Wi-fi when I am away from the house, and check the images of my home.
The quality of the video is ok, but I was hoping for better resolution since it claims to be HD. The night vision works well indoors and the picture quality is ok as well. Setting up recording and other preferences and features (alarms, temperatures, etc) took a little longer to program, and might be difficult for those that are not too tech savvy.
The cameras do not include the micro SD card, but can easily be purchase, for recording and storing images. Recorded information can be reviewed, but you have to scroll all the way down many, many, dates to get to the latest recording. I would prefer if it can be sorted by date, so that the latest recording is on top, not at the bottom of the file.
Overall, I am happy with the product and have purchased another set of Lorex IP cameras.
Excellent product. The picture is very good. It was not difficult to install the cameras. The technical support has been so helpful whenever any problem cropped up. On remote viewing the video was a bit jittery, but this was explained to us that it was caused by low upload speed of the internet connection. Overall, we are happy with the camera and we will recommend this camera to others.
The only complaint we have is on the long wait trying to contact them on the phone and having to listen to the same sales talks repeatedly.
Excellent product. I purchased the 3-pack. It took very little time to setup, less than 5 minutes each. The cameras work very well inside, but if you try to use it through a window as a surveillance for the outside the glare does cause a problem, more importantly at night.
As for the software, it does work, but it is not the best. Lorex does not support other software to run their cameras, so you are stuck with theirs. Unfortunately, their software does not get great ratings form other. NOTE TO LOREX: invest more time and development of functionalities into your software and you will have happier clients.
One last thing, if you want to automatically save your videos to your computer when the camera senses a motion, the Lorex software does not allow you to do that. It will allow you to manually save it to your hard drive and automatically save it to the SD card on the camera though. I'm not sure why the development team has not added that functionality?
Customer service is poor, I agree. For the price of these camera's, they could at least hire some dedicated staff to help answer emails, phones and cases. Once they finally get to it though, I usually figured it out on my own.
camera's are ok. Don't be too fooled by the HD 720 or 1080. It's only 1MP so the age is still no crisp. I did my research before purchasing these and here are the pros of why I chose these:
1) it has video AND Sound.
2) wifi & wired, so I can install in remote locations, then run wiring to it later (I prefer wing because wifi has intermittent connections, constantly disconnecting, and also to avoid all the radiation, especially around kids bedrooms)
3)fairly easy to use software. WINDOWs has a few more options vs MAC, but it's minimal. Setup is fairly was once you get the gist of it.
4) it has 3 ways to record/monitor. Internal SD card which you can put it, local/NAS hard drives to record from the software, and you can also setup to record to lorex servers which is FREE and they say they DO NOT access it.
Another Con though is it does not have power over ethernet like the LNC226 series for outside, this is a bummer as you have to have it plugged in and when you want to do it discretely, who has outlets in their ceilings?!
Worst customer service ever. Waiting for the camera. It will have to be made of gold to make up for the poorest customer service I have ever had. No one to answer calls during business hours, even at the GM's office. Staff don't respond to requests for information. Had to place this order 4 times, had to sit on hold 5 times.

I recently purchased the Wireless HD LNC216 3 Pack IP Cameras and was impressed with the clarity of the video feed. I had some trouble hooking up the first one to my home network wifi, as there is different ways of doing it per the instructions and involves setting up various passwords, etc., so you need a bit of computer home network knowledge to do this, but once the first one was up and running, the others were much simpler to do. The software menu is fairly straight forward for all the settings, and e-mail alerts, and setting it up on the smartphone went quite well. All in all, quite impressed by the various alarm capabilities (motion, PIR, temperature) and how the camera will send you a snapshot when an alarm condition occurs. Very easy to control from your phone or PC at home. Sets up on Android tablets easy also. Would recommend for anyone who is interested in starting up their own basic security system using their home network wifi system, as mentioned, just a little tricky getting the first one hooked in to your wifi.
After much research we purchased the LNC2163PK. Works as described with very easy setup. They need to make these with longer cables!! Long phone waits but friendly customer service. Would definitely recommend.
Easy set up and installation. Was able to monitor my house when I was out on vacation. The third monitor kept disconnecting with wifi but technical support was great and was able to return and get a new one in one week. So far, everything's working as described. Happy with my purchase. I recommended it to my friends and family.

I bought the LNC216-3PK. It works as described. We monitor our vacation home, which is 1,600 miles away. I would recommend this product to others.
Location: VA, USA
Product works well, wifi stable, but sound quality hit or miss. Bought the LNC216-3PK, but got the LCN204. Got an email that it is the same camera. If it is, save yourselves some money if you only need 4 channels DVR software. Customer support is OK, but it takes 1 Hr each time to get through. That is very frustrating. I would give the product 3 stars, but everything else a 2 star.
I needed several IP cameras in the house for my nanny. The dropcam while much better picture quality was much more expensive and also had monthly charges for recording.
This camera was easy to setup. The software is a bit buggy but does the job for most parts.
I bought the 3 pack LNC216 directly from Lorex with the 15% email coupon which is great price compare to other online retailers. The installation was simple, I got all 3 cameras up and running in less than hour. So far they work as they advertised and pretty reliable, I am pretty happy with them. I like the fact that is has seperate lens for daylight and night vision. The photos and videos are pretty clear. I am running 20 fps, 512k bandwidth and at maximum resolution for mobile vidoe at 1024x768.
The only thing I wish is the lens to have a slightly wider field of view. Currently, the lens has field of view of 66 deg which is roughly equivalent to 35mm wide angle in the standard 35mm or fullframe DSLR lens. A 28mm equivalent will make it even better.
I am looking into setting up a NAS to record and store the videos rather than storing than on a SD card.
There is no LNC216 YouTube video at this time so ONLY follow the quick Start Guide for the camera set up. Good for room monitoring but I had imagined a wider field of view. Great night images. All images are sharper on my PC than my iPad but I will be viewing remotely with the iPad. I like that I can yell at the burglars from work and they can tell me to ... . Hopefully, I can snap their faces in time to give photos to the police. My children are helping me get my shutter times down.
The cameras are easy to install, very good video quality, but you need an external speaker to be heard clearly when talking. Very good piece of technology to have in a reasonable price. Thumbs up!

Just purchased 3 LNC216 but was not told that if the power goes off and comes back on the cameras won't. The LOREX tech told me there was no fix for this and I have to use a paper clip to press the reset button to make the cameras operate again. I had all 3 cameras working, turned the power went off and the cameras would not come back on-line again when powered up again. What good is that? Power goes off frequently in the north. I can't believe LOREX would make cameras like that.......needless to say they're going back. You won't find that information anywhere at the LOREX web site about this problem.
Easy setup. Had all three up and running within 30 minutes. Took about 10 minutes each.
My only suggestion is that the lens needs to be wider angle or at least adjustable. Current fixed angle is very narrow.
Otherwise highly recommend.
Just purchased the 3 pack of the LNC216.
Installation work fast and easy on my computer, I have not tried the internet connection yet, but it seems easy to do. It has good images even at night.
I would recommend this camera system, it works a lot easier than other ones I had.
I have the LNC 204 IP cameras. So Far so good.
Superb product!! Easy install for both wired & wireless operation. Excellent picture -- 720P HD -- and sound quality. Ping app for Android also easy to configure to monitor these cameras. Complements the other Lorex cameras we've deployed in the house as part of our security profile.
Location: San Jose, CA
Very good image quality at night and day. The PING iPhone app is great for remote watching. The Play and View software works well and I had no problem connecting to my NAS.
The temperature reading is off on my cameras and also they stop recording for a few seconds to a few minutes once in a while for no reason. Minus one star for that.
If you already own one LNC216, you DO NOT need more LNC216 as it is the SAME camera as the LNC204. The only difference is the software that comes separately. You pay a price premium on the 216 but they ship you 204s. So get one 216 and the rest get 204s. Minus one star for not explaining that clearly on their web site.
Purchased the LNC216 3pk and was shipped the LNC204 3pk because they ran out of the LNC216 3pk. No one contacted me to ask if I wanted the 204's or if I wanted to wait till the 216's were back in stock nor did I get a refund for the difference.
The first guy in customer service argued with me and told me the 204's and 216's are the same thing and arbitrarily put me back in the que. Waited 25 more minutes just to be told there was a software up that would change the 4 channel 204's to a 16 channel 216's. I asked why the update was not done on their end. I did not get an answer.
Now the 204's; I was able to get one camera to work by connecting it to the ehternet but it does not work on my iPhone or iPad just my desktop. The other two aren't working at all. One has flashed it's lights for the last 24 hours and the other camera does nothing unless I push the WPS button.
I just purchased this LNC216 (3 packs). At first, it was confusing to set up to my ipad but once you downloaded the lorex ping then it's easy to follow. I wish lorex ping could view a multlple views instead of one camera at a time. The sharpness and brightness are ok during the day but they are not that cleared at night time. The reception is not that good if you live a two-story house. My main wireless wifi is in the second floor (master bedroom), I can only put the cameras in the kitchen and the foyer. I tried to put one camera in one of the bedrooms facing the mailbox but no reception at all. Family, living, and dining rooms won't get any reception at all. Maybe, it ok if you live in a ranch house.
The LNC216 is easy to install and set up. Good picture quality.
I replaced my D-Link camera with the 216 WOW what a difference. Way to go Lorex!
Location: Portland, OR
The camera itself works fine, but it's not accessible via a standard web browser, only with the L-View software. No L-View, no live video, which makes it tough to view while traveling or while using someone else's computer. It also makes this camera incompatible with Blue Iris, the popular security software. I'm pretty disappointed.
Took a little while to put on PC,IPHONEand LAP TOP. Other than that I think they are well worth the price. Thinking about getting a few more Cannot be to safe these days..
I watched some online videos from the Costco & Lorex web pages before installing the LNC 216's. It was easy to initially set up using my android and wifi network. I later used the disc to add the view and playback programs to my laptop, and after this it kept giving me the same command that I had to uninstall the current program to install the updated one so I wasted a lot of time with all of that, but I was rather distracted while doing this, so maybe it was me. Meets my needs so far. I purchased to keep an eye on my older dog and my young pup, and to be able to talk to them if they create mischief while i'm gone, and to keep an eye on the front of my house, and to see who's at my front door. I turned off the LED lights and with this setting change, don't have much of a problem with reflection in the glass even with having the camera close to the glass on my window sill, with better than expected night time vision for this (set for daytime). Can record to a SD card in the camera, your smartphone, your pc or tablet if you have the software loaded on it (I don't have a tablet) but haven't done extended recordings as yet, or figured out if can record to a cloud, and would like to, due to if someone breaks in, they are likely to take the camera and pc, and I don't have the recording capacity on my android--suggestions on recording to a cloud, dropbox, etc. that have worked?
i recently purchased four of the LNC104, but returned them for four of the LNC216, The LNC216 offered more features than the LNC104. At first one of the cameras would not allow me to view through Ping with my iphone nor computer; this occurred because I set the 216s up the same as the 104s. After resetting the camera and using the wifi setting icon on my iphone to set the camera's wifi up, it came up perfect and I 've had no problems with viewing. I have clear concise images, and I am able to check anytime of the day as long as wifi is available. Looking forward to adding a few more cameras.
