We got this and got 2 cameras set up just fine. The other 2 are going to be difficult b/c of logistics/wiring, etc. However, it's not easy to figure out the DVR aspect of it. Finding the model/series I have online isn't easy either. I got the product directly from the manufacturer, but when I look it up or try to write a review, I don't see my model and series exactly. So, that's a little frustrating.

Bought this system based on other positive reviews and thought I'd give it a try. So far it's been functioning quite well. Even when the previous DVR wasn't working correctly, it was replaced in no time and without any hesitations. Also each time I call Lorex for technical support, they are always very helpful and do their best to get whatever problem one is having to be taken care of on the first call. I'm happy and will continue using Lorex so as long as I get their usual great customer service!
I have a QSEE 8 channel system that stopped sending email and allowing cell phone viewing. When I got this 5 years ago, I spent many nights trying to get this system to work with my phone and email. Now it quit sending emails again and will not allow viewing, it had been back for service before. So I bought another QSEE system and again spent many nights trying to get everything to work. Frustrated, I saw a Lorex camera system at Sam's and bought it. within an hour of taking it out of the box, everything was working fine, and the best part is it works with my existing QSEE cameras. My old system was an 8 channel, and this one is a 16 channel. since I have extra cameras, I mounted one inside facing a wall that would never show motion detection. Along side the camera, I mounted a USB fan with the blades in front of the lens. I have a long driveway with a photo eye alarm at the end. When someone comes down the driveway, there is a quick contact closure that sends 5V to the USB fan. The blades spin for a few seconds, and the camera picks up the motion. Now I can program my DVR to turn all the cameras on when someone comes down the driveway, send me an email, and take a snapshot. It works great. Love the Lorex.

I purchased the Lorex LHV16212 model from Costco. I have a larger than average house and the self installation was easy enough. Apart from the connector in the back which are too cramped to handle for some with larger fingers and possible a lager HD that would be nice, the unit is OK. A couple of issues came up. The proprietary mouse is specific to the unit. Since I have the unit away from reach and view, a wireless Logitech mouse was not possible due to incompatibility. Some bloggers say that the OS is not compatible with Windows compatible mouses. So I had to buy a USB cable extension to use its own mouse. Also, if you have all 12 cameras connected, like I have, a 12MB download and 680kb upload internet speed are not enough to see the live feed if you are logging in remotely. Also, 8 of the 12 cables were short. I connected them together, so I had to purchase 4 more cables. Three were the 60 ft and one 120ft. The slim 60ft cables have bad dual shielding that protects the cables from electromagnetic and radio frequency interference. I can see on the display that the image is wavy only on the cameras that have the newly purchased 60ft slim cables. I would recommend this unit apart form those issues so I give it a 4 star
Lots of features. Take your time and it'll go smoothly. I messed up on one part but, a quick call to Tech Support and they had me back up and running. Nothing is more important then good Tech Support and they have it. Thank you!

I have read some of the of the other reviews. I originally submitted a review with 1 star, which prompted help from Lorex's technical staff. They were extremely helpful and in a matter of minutes had my system up and running (even the Internet connection). Surprisingly, I had most of the required software installed, but it didn't work as the manual outlined. It was very disturbing and frustrating to following the directions for online connection and it failed and failed, and failed. An email from tech support informed me that my system did not require DDNS. Go figure! They actually sent me an email with the User's Manual for my system and I have been going through it testing the different features. I'm an old ex-mainframe programmer and find this system rich with features that I personally would never use, but can see the application may be useful to others. I have the client on my desktop and laptop computers. The laptop is my traveling device and have tested the remote connection back to my home and it works flawlessly. Still have a ticket outstanding on USB limitation of 16GB. I would suggest downloading and using the VLS program rather than the DAV. The VLS is much easier to work with and the learning curve is much faster. Also, if I were management within Lorex, I would make sure that each User Manual is device specific. I love the system now that it performing as advertised. However, getting there was a real pain in the ...... I would give the unit a 4 star rating and Lorex's efforts to make the user happy with 5 stars. Now if I could just get the system to take up to a 64GB USB drive.
Great system. No on/off switch, however this device is made to stay on year around. I have two of eight cameras up and running and the system is working like Downtown. Good thing it has 16 channels as the wife wants more than the standard eight cameras.
Overall a decent system so far, purchased from Sam's Club. I have two complaints right out of the box though. First is there is not an on/off switch, you have to unplug the adapter to turn it off. IMO that is not a very well-engineered idea. Secondly, it is very noisy. Probably the noisiest system I have come across. Setup is somewhat difficult (having trouble with iPhone and web connectivity; ddns configuration on the lorex website keeps showing Invalid sub domain: Sub domain contains invalid characters.). So to this date I have not been able to setup my DDNS URL. Quick start guide leaves much to the imagination, and you have to really search the Lorex site to find both the FLIR Cloud software and a User Manual.
Image quality is good in the day, but IMO the quality of the night picture has a lot to be desired.
DVR web interface is easy to use once you can find it on the website to download. FLIR Cloud software is easy to download off of the app store. I just scanned the QR code and it setup all that was needed to view the system on my phone. At this point in time I can’t view once I am off my home network. I haven’t had a lot of time to continue to play with it, maybe once I get it to work remotely I will continue my review.
Other “china “systems I have had in the past were a lot easier to “Plug n Play”. But I wanted to move to a known manufacturer such as Lorex by Flir. I hope that I haven’t made a grave mistake. But a little more time will tell.

Or I think it was a great value I'm having a hard time hooking up to ddns but the app is working great.
This is an upgrade from a 4 channel we had for 3 years. The new one has a lot better picture quality it was a lot easier to set up with android and iPhone. The DVR is a lot louder than previous system. Probably would have trouble setting up if we had not set up prior, owners Manuel or on line help would be nice.

Overall a great system. Setup was somewhat difficult (had trouble with iPhone and web connectivity; challenging to figure out how to turn off continuous recording; had issues with insufficient motion sensitivity). Quick start guide leaves much to the imagination, and you have to really search the Lorex site to find both the FLIR Cloud software and a User Manual.
But called tech support and got good help. Wait time for tech support was too long (50 minutes on a Saturday afternoon; 25 minutes on a Tuesday evening), but both technicians spoke native English, were motivated to help solve my problems, were very knowledgeable, and courteous. They vectored me to the FLIR Cloud software and the online manual (.pdf).
Image quality is very good, day or night.
DVR web interface and FLIR Cloud software are a bit arcane, but once you figure out the interface it's not too bad. It took me a couple days of playing around to get comfortable. My old Samsung system had much more user-friendly software!
Once I got the web interface working, I found that the iPhone app works quite well. It seems to tolerate a slower connection better than my old Samsung system. However, the faster the connection you have, the better, as with any streaming application. My home internet service is only about 1 Mbps upload, yet the system works tolerably well remotely.
Best value for the money. Easy installation and quality product. Can't go wrong with this on sale.
Had no trouble installing/setting up the system. Was extremely pleased with the overall clarity of the cameras especially the night vision. Love the ability to connect via apps while on the go and be able to monitor the surroundings through a smartphone/tablet. Was able to get this system at a great price. Totally worth it. Would recommend as it's a small price to pay to protect your investment.

Purchased the system LVH0016 & had it installed earlier this week. Thus far we are pleased, it was a little tricky to get the app to wok but have since figured out if you close the app (double click & swip to close) then when it relaunches you can view the live feed, after several times of uninstalling & reinstalling the app this has helped & don't get so frustrated. I have just located the manual & printed it off so I can read more, trying to figure it all out & how to get the email/text notifications etc. the installer set it up for continuous recording but think I may change it to motion because the constant running of the DVR is loud.....that's the only draw back I see at this time. With recent break-ins, this system gives us peace of mind which is priceless this day & time. Going to be making me signs that say "smile your on candid camera" so anyone trying to break in knows I've got their picture. Overall good system for the price.

This item is very easy to install and operate, however, a user manual would really help fine tune and set up the system. Highly recommend, Night vision is outstanding.

The absence of a user manual is a real killjoy. The email ALERT system goes off incessantly... even when sensitivity is set to low and there is no Motion Detection. I have literally deleted about 70 ALERTS for a single camera and just enabled the email alert system this morning. I set the Region, but not sure if the Region covers the red-squared areas, or the normal images in the camera grid. I tried both approaches with the same result. Again, an issue of not having a User Manual to reference.
Also, the Period clock has no explanation of configuration... just 00:00 and 24:00 which really means nothing to someone just trying to learn the system.
Picture quality is excellent. Overall the setup for the internet LAN/WAN was relatively easy and the Lorex DDNS service was a cinch. A little early in the use of the product to rate just yet... but for purposes of use thus far, I would have to give it a 3 based on the poor instructional availability, the VERY loud DVR (you could have used a quieter fan for $15); and as another poster mentioned, navigating the recorded channel is problematic, where the speed of playback does not coincide with the on-screen setting.
I am going to return and adjust this rating as needed, once I have spent some time tinkering with the settings to hopefully get it set to the proper protocols.

Professionally installed. HD Picture is excellent. Turns to black and white at night. Dome cameras installed in front of the house. Bullet cameras installed in the back and patio. DVR features are very good but quick guide doesn't have information in how to access all features. Look for a manual on the internet. Couldn't find it in lorextechnology.com/support. Camera cables are long enough. HDMI cable is short. CON: DVR is loud. Excellent price.
Bought this system at Costco. I had it professionally installed, so am not sure about the cable length, other parts, etc. The camera quality is very good. I'd rate that at 5 stars. The big problem is with the dvr control and trying to review footage. It is very difficult to use to review footage at a specific point in time. Same thing with the app for the computer and phone - It's extremely hard to review footage and this is not very user friendly at all. So overall, I'd rate it a 3 because of this. If you just need cameras for deterrent and hopefully nothing happens where you need to go back and find something easily, this is a great system. I hope they update their app and make it easier to use.

I purchased the LHV210800 from Costco Canada in October 2015. Setup was relatively easy as was installation. Feeding the cables through finished walls was time consuming, but not difficult. (had to cut several holes and then patch them up). I love the remote access via my smart phone and laptop. When I am away, I can see whether the snow is cleared and can review the recorded video if needed.
Had system in place for just over a week now and so far so good. The HDMI and Ethernet cables provided are pretty much useless as they are way too short to reach anything. The drywall anchors are of very poor quality but fortunately I had what I need on hand. Took some doing but I finally got a user manual, should not be so difficult to do. Had to open a ticket to get done.
Got the system installed. Job getting wires run but that is no other way unless you go wireless. So far have not been able to get a users manual but still trying. The quick start guides are helpful but definitely more toward the MAC users when it comes to remote monitoring. The cables provided for the monitor and the Ethernet are pretty useless as they are way to short to reach anything. So far I like the system but only had it a couple of days.
I would have given the product 5 stars but I have to be honest this is not an easy task getting the wires run through the attic and connecting them to the box - this does require skill unless you want wires just being shown everywhere. The connectors from wire to box are difficult to snap in and twist there is not much room and I have tiny hands you just have to push hard and then twist do not worry you wont break it. It requires a wired network connection but I did not want it in my office so I purchased an extender and linked it into the home network - was not expecting this added cost but extenders are very inexpensive these days. I will say the iphone app is great - ipad app seems to display a little slower. I have hooked the system to the home television and that works very well as I just flip to the cameras and can see everything. The product was very well priced and I am extremely happy with it.
My whole family loves it. Its very easy to use and setup. We are able to watch on our phones with a free app. I feel safer knowing we have a security system. Had my son install it in one day. Love the HD quality video, easy to use on phones or tablet, in the future I can add or upgrade cameras, free app to view is great. I had to buy extra cable not long enough 100 ft. System runs very loud. Yes, I would highly recommend this product.
Video quality is outstanding and the setup was trouble-free. The software both on the web and on mobile is easy to use and includes some very helpful advanced features. Night vision has proven to be useful and it was worth it to get a system with 16 cameras. The entire system has been trouble-free and the one time I had to call support for the setup they quickly figured out the issue and resolved it.
Great product easy to use nice video quality.

This is my first system for business. I love it, everything are working fine, especially the mobile app is doing a good job for my Samsung cell and my son'Iphone. LHV0016 with 12 cameras for a great price and free fast shipping.
