This is a great system. Installation was simple and straightforward. The cameras provide an excellent view and the options for viewing remotely are good. I've had a few issues with the FLIRCloud app but received excellent tech support. The web view via DDNS is very good and the connection via DDNS works better for me than by deviceID. The ability to remotely view recordings that are marked as motion detected is great. Getting the settings for motion detect set is a little tedious and more guidance on that aspect would be an improvement. All-in-all it is a great value and product.

I had a very old Lorex four camera system for around ten years. It was excellent, but recently died and wasn't worth the repair. I replaced everything with a LHV1004 system. The new cameras are fantastic, definitely Hi resolution and the coverage is so good that I covered my entire front with three, giving me the fourth camera for the backyard. Initially, it seemed that getting the local LAN connections working again was seemingly impossible. Got an idea, and just directed the PC's to the IP address like the older system and poof... everything worked. Even Windows XP which wasn't supposed to. And the wireless android tablet works.
Overall, I love the new software it is very stable and intuitive. Has all the features that I can use rather than just extra fluff. Glad I stayed with Lorex and hope to get another ten years of service. We have had a couple of vandals in the neighborhood over the last few years, and the security cameras gave us the visuals for the sheriff. We have learned that having recording cameras is something we can't live without.

This is my first experience of installing a CCTV home security system, after a rather upsetting and worrying incident. We are very pleased with the system, especially based on the fact that it was so easy to set up and moreso because of the excellent features the software includes. My favourite feature is to be able to play back recording by focussing on motion only activity - within a specified section(s) of the the screen! You can play back a lengthy period of time and very easily see what it is you are trying to uncover. Brilliant! Of course then there is the online app, which allows you to monitor your cameras from anywhere... great peace of mind.

My only small concern is that the system I have (DVR 1080p HD cameras with 4 Channel 1TB unit) is limited to 4 cameras. I wish I had bought one with at least 8 ports, to allow for future expansion if we so desire... but as I say, minor thing.

I rely on my Lorex video monitoring system to see what is going on at my cottage property in Haliburton, Ontario when I am not there. Recently, my FLIR Cloud connection mysteriously would not no longer allow me to log in. I called Lorex for help and cannot say enough about how pleased I was with their professional, courteous service. The Lorex representative refreshed the FLIR Cloud software on my PC and got my internet connect back up and running. Thanks Lorex!

One feature that would be nice would be the ability to remotely monitor temperature via the Lorex system. I am reliant on a propane furnace to keep the cottage from freezing up in the winter and it would nice to be able to confirm that it functioning. Lorex ... any thoughts on how I might do this?

I have had this system for two months now. I really love this camera system. The video is really clear, easy to set up, (running the cables is the only thing hard to do). The picture quality is excellent, and very easy to setup. My system wouldn't recognize the QR code so I was told I would need a ddns tag. After a few days and hours I was able to at least view the cameras on one remote pc, and am hoping to be able to see it on the home pc. Bought at Costco. Good value for the price. Installation at my cottage fairly simple and well documented in the supplied literature. HD picture quality very good. For a first time owner/installer of a camera security system like myself, download of manual is a must and is quite easy to follow step-by-step. Found one bug so far. When zoom is activated in the camera toolbar, you do not have access to the main menu with the left click of the mouse. Due to my inexperience, Record on Motion detection was (still is) the most difficult to adjust and requires several runs of sensitivity/threshold adjustments in the (up to 4) regions settings for each camera. Situation probably applies to any system that you buy. Flies/moths passing in front of cameras generate numerous motion recording events. Maybe Lorex could offer some basic tutorial help which could improve trial & error adjustment time. Lastly, quite impressed with the system overall and I can’t wait to see the performance of the cameras at -30 deg this winter which is the main reason I purchased this system.

The stratus was a little confusing for lack of understanding by a true non-techy type. I just left wireless IPs on the tablets and used Internet IPs on the phones. Really pleased with the system. The cameras have very good resolution and range and the DVR is adequate for our home system. The only thing that I wished was included in the package is a printed user manual rather than having to go on line for the information. Early in the set-up I needed to call into the help center and I got through quickly, talked to a person that I could understand and got a suggestion to fix my problem (camera stuck on night vision during the day) with in 5 minutes of calling and it fixed my issue.

I Purchased the kit and so far am very happy with it. The night vision is better than expected, and day vision is very clear. The cameras have a wide angle, so they don't pick up a lot of detail from far away, but that wasn't a surprise. I did have one camera's night vision stop working, but I called Costco's concierge service, who patched me through to a Lorex rep and helped me file a warranty claim. I shipped the camera back and got a new one a week or so later.

I ordered this product through I read a number of the reviews written by other purchasers and learned from those reviews so that I was better prepared for the installation. I purchased a relatively inexpensive flat screen monitor and power strip. I purchased two 200 foot cables for locations that required a cable length greater then the 60 length that comes with the cameras. I also purchased 150 feet of F6 Techflex split sleeving to wrap the two cables that have extended run length.

The install went exactly as planned with no hiccups. The image quality is outstanding and the set up on an iPhone, iPad, and MacBook was easy and works without flaw so far.

I purchased this kit from Microcenter. Better resolution than I've seen in the past on Analog cameras. DVR seems very stable and works great. The web interface could use some updating (requires a browser plugin to work, and doesn't like to work unless I use it in Internet Explorer), but still seems better than the other products around this price range that I've tried.

The only issue I've had is that one of the camera's in the kit seems to be having night vision issues (works some nights, not others). I have contacted warranty support and so far they have been very helpful.

I'm giving this system a 4 out of 5 stars, mainly because of the somewhat lacking browser interface for the cameras. Other than that it's great!

I bought 2 of this model, one for home and one for the office. I have them for 5 months now. Picture resolution is excellent but the 500GB is just way to samll for 720p resolution. Remote viewing from iPhone is quick but it isn't easy to setup. Forget about the default setup which relay video to some server and back to your phone. Use the IP/Domain instead of the Device ID which goes from the camera directly to your phone. You have to setup Lorex's DDNS (free) and your router. Once, it is setup, it works beautifully. The Device ID (default) which is easier to setup is actually a pain, keep having problem connecting to device. Don't bother within. Manual has instruction to setup everything. Read it carefully. Very happy once I set it up properly.

P.S. There might be a bug in the current firmware. Only 1 of 4 camera showed video on remote viewing. Have to reset everything back to manufacture default before getting it to work again.

Video looks great. However, the software is not easy to setup. You need to read the manual carefully. For example, the password is only 6 characters . On the server, you can enter longer, it will truncate to 6 char. However, on the iPhone app, if you enter longer, it will not truncate and you will not be able to connect to the server. I brought this Lorex 4 camera system, LHV1000 720p to replace my old POE 960h. My old system, even tho it caught people trying to break into my car, didn't have a DVR and would stop recording from time to time. I would have to go out and climb up a ladder to reset the camera, not what I wanted for security. This camera system is much more reliable for recording. The price was right, so I purchased the system, hoping it would be better. What a difference in picture quality!!! It was easy to setup and I had it running in 15 minutes out of the box. The documentation on the PC software and the iphone app, in my case, is a bit sparse. The technical support though, makes up for it BIG TIME!!! That's what we all want is good tech support, not outsourced and you won't be disappointed with the people at Lorex!! Daytime picture is awesome and night vision is good, but better when my motion sensor light goes on. I can see much better, otherwise it's a little grainy compared to my 960h, but on my 960h, there are always lights on around the camera making it better to see. All in all I'm very happy with the cameras, I can view them remotely on my iphone and select clips to play back free, that my other camera company Logitech, charged me $80 a year for.... I can only hope that down the road there will be software and firmware updates, making this camera system better then it already is. For the money and features I'm happy and feel secure again, knowing that I can keep a watchful eye on my property and that's why I purchased this system to begin with.

I recieved the cameras and set them up in my living room prior to on site installation. Had no problem getting them going but the software in the DVR was not as user friendly as I had hoped. However, after a little usage, I am able to configure the cameras and get the surveillancd I want. The cameras have a great image and setting up remote viewing using FLIR was a breeze. The alert email process works as expected. At this time, I am very happy with my purchase. The package is what I expected and works well.

I have an older Lorex D1 8 channel system which is pretty good. I needed something that would be better at facial recognition during the day and especially at night. The 720P system is much better than the old one, especially at night. Wider field of view too. The infrared works out to about 130 feet. With ambient lighting, you can see considerably further at night. The neighbors security lights and porch lights help out a lot as well as the infrared light from the other eight cameras on the old system. My system has been installed about 2 months and so far everything works great. Its easy to set up and use. Hardest part is running wires through the attic. I bought plywood and cut it to fit in the attic. Screwed it to the rafters so I would have a permanent route to the camera locations and not fall through the ceiling. Only negative about the system is the camera adjustment. You have to use a Phillips screwdriver for two of the adjustments. You must be careful not to over tighten the screws as the cameras are plastic. Plus, its kind of difficult to use both hands when your at 20-25 feet on a ladder. One to hold the camera and one to use the screwdriver. In the future I may upgrade to an 8 camera 720P to replace the old D1 system. I can use the D1 systems wiring with the analog 720P, which will make installation a lot faster and simple. Overall, especially for the price,I am happy with my new purchase!

This system turned out great. While I wish there were options to buy a 6 camera system, or more reasonably priced 8 channel/4 camera systems for later upgrade, this one has fit the bill for my family.


Good camera quality - cameras have good focus in the center - the fisheye effect makes them a little blurry on the outer edges. A better camera would cost hundreds, so it is the price point I elected to stay with.

Easy set up - my son and I figured out almost everything intuitively. The manual was there to help, but within a short time we had the system online working through its mouse and remote on a spare screen we have, working online via our home network to our desktop and laptop (using the FLIRcloud client), and on our smartphones (both android and ios.) While each set of hardware has a different application, they all set up and worked quickly and easily.


Each set of hardware has different software/applications. The are all intuitive so this is not much of a drawback, but I would love to see the native DVR software and the FLIRcloud client at least to be more the same.

Picture quality is excellent, night vision is excellent, install was simple, the wire it comes with are a bit short should think about including 100' instead. I do wish the cameras came in black so it would blend in better with the trim colors of the house. Overall very impressed so far.

I think that this is a good product for the $$$ but it's only been up for a week. So far so good. My only frustration was trying to download a manual from the website as the info provided with purchase is nothing more than a quick set up guide that leaves you with a ton of questions. After 2 days and a few calls and alot of onhold time I finally spoke with some one who could solve my issue. As it turned out I was entering my model number LHV1000 but the only way the website would recognize the model was if I put in LVH100. After doing that the LVH 1000 comes up onscreen and you can print the manual. It was explained by telling me that there are only 6 digits allowable for locating so when you put in the fourth 0 it messes everything up. Pretty stupid and frustrating for no unfixable reason. Good picture and lots of adjustments for each camera to get a balanced view and excellent night vision. I did have a small connection issue where the cameras plug-in on the back of the recorder as one camera went blank so I pushed and turned a little and got it to work again without a relapse. Hope that is the last time that happens but made me wonder how good the connection is.

Bought this at Costco. Very happy with the quality and features for the price. A very good value. Love the picture quality, and support for remote monitoring. Moderate difficulty to install (attic and ladder climbing and drilling). Had to buy longer HDMI (check out the great pricing on AmazonBasics cabling) and Ethernet cables. So far, I am a big fan! I am anxious to see how it holds up over time (operating 24/7 as it does).

I love love motion sensing .I love the HDD it is really it picks up everything ,the cameras ar plastic but the price was right I had meager funds .one of my cameras died after only a few days and my remote is not working after new batteries, the remote looks like it was used as some of. The lettering is not all there. I had motion sensing on all cameras and now it is only on two and I do not know how to put it back on four cameras as it was. It keeps reverting back to only one when it was four.
Otherwise I enjoy it .

First system. Everything appeared to work out of the box. After easy install, system developed video glitches after a few hours of operation. Re-booting would clear things up for a while. The problem was intermittent so diagnosis was try something and wait. Costco and Lorex tech support were terrific even during the Holidays. A replacement box is on its way. The video quality exceeds my expectations. The system features are more than I will use at this time. It's a great starter system for the $$$. I see a bigger system coming in the future. I'll rate it 4 stars due to the glitch.

quick start-up sheet made it easy to setup, but if you get confused call costco for help, I had to. the first thing I found out (no where in manuals) is that it only works with monitors with a screen size between19"-31". should of been on quick setup. I tried a 17" first then went to the 42" tv next and nothing. I called then and got great help on setup from costco. after that it was all downhill, oh, one other thing when you download FLIR CLOUD for pc (to view on your pc) make sure your resolution on your monitor (pc) is as small as you can get it or you won't be able to run (load) the software.ask me I know. the system works great! as of now I don't think I'll need a 1080p system.

I am very pleased with the product quality so far. I only installed it locally, in one room, to test out the equipment and smart phone access. It was better than I had expected, with a few exceptions. I had trouble finding documentation on all the features. I refered to the FLIR Cloud App Help function, which didn't seem to address all the features. Still experimenting.
I also had some problems logging in and getting a Login Time Out message.

Overall great system! Easy to install and plenty of cable length for 2100 sq feet house (dvr near center of house). The local viewing is painless. Use IE browser and download the Lorex browser plugin to control/set the dvr. Type in IP address. Then login w password. For remote viewing, it was very easy for Android phone. Slightly harder for remote viewing via PC. First, there's NOTHING you have to do on your router for remote viewing as FLIR allows you to view it using their gateway. Here's quick summary for both. For Android, it was very simple. Download the FLIR Cloud on Google Play store. Open app. Scan the code on the box using the FLIR app. It will then automatically configure the app to view the dvr. Done! That easy! With remote PC viewing, it was harder. Download the FLIR for PC program. Install and run. Then add device. Set the device ID. Make sure to open the FLIR app on your phone. It will show your unique device ID. Input that ID. Save. Click Live View. On right side pane, click on the device you just added. Video should come up within 30-60 seconds (this appears the average time it needs to ping, communicate with FLIR cloud and your dvr).

While it's simple to install and connect remotely, it does have some advanced features that will overwhelm some consumers. Stay away from those advanced settings unless you know what your doing. Currently I have motion triggering every time a large object comes into the middle of the screen for the front door. When any object is detected, it flags/bookmarks the recording so I can find the event more easily. Also have it configured to generate a 5 second alarm (series of 1 beep every second for duration of 5 seconds). An internal dvr speaker actually beeps. This mini alarm tells me that someone is at the front door. You can do this for all cameras and set the sensitivity level as high/low as you want to compensate for wind, pets, etc...

-great simple to install system
-low price point
-very easy remote viewing via Android (does not get more simple than this)
-video quality is excellent at 720p
-night time video is excellent

-slightly harder setup for remote viewing for PC. FLIR program needs to be more user friendly.
-plastic housing on cameras with small screws to adjust position. This is likely a point of failure. I'm certain the screws will be stripped or and break the plastic threads if someone overtightens. Personally, I would like a more sturdy metallic housing than a plastic one.

In conclusion, the pros outweighs the cons so I highly recommend it.

my first security camera system. while hardwiring is a pain, it's expected. the review is based on the software installation which has been frustrating. i set up my iPhone according to the guide and that works but have been unable to get it working on my iPad (still working on that). I have been unable to set the system up on my Mac (the software for mac is on the website but it's not obvious how to get it. the link shown in the installation instructions goes to a main menu, not the specific Mac download. i was able to download and open the software program but it tells me the cameras are off-line and i've been clueless how to fix that (still trying) so I had to revert to the dvr connected to a monitor for which i had to use a non-spare TV. That works just fine but there is no real software guide included in the package. You need to go on line and download the 198 page manual, then read that to figure out what all the icons mean for the mobile apps and to work the monitor software.
So, that leads to my bottom line:
- cameras are small, work well day and night, but would be nice to have more of a swivel mount intend of a 2-axis - you likely have tilted views with the 2-axis.
- came with 4x60' ables and of course one run required 80' so i had to go buy another cable. it would be nice to include 1x40, 2x60 and 1x80 instead.
- software installation still a work in progress. it is not as 'click and go' as the literature makes it seem. As an Apple product user, you get used to very intuitive and complete installation of software. This is 5 stars versus Apples' 9.5.
-since this is my first video surveillance system, i can't rate it versus other systems. i'm pleased with the views, not i just need to learn the software, once i can get it loaded on my Mac.

Easy to set-up default config, but manual has quite a few gaps, in which all setting are not described. you may need to consult the web to fill in the gaps, as some of the parameters and settings are typical of the technology, but not explained the Lorex manual. phone support had long wait time (+40 min).
