I have owned this product for just under 2 years-had trouble in the beginning getting the system set up as it is not as "easy" as they state. The pictures are not as clear either. Worst of all, the system stopped recording backup about 6 months ago, however the system doesn't let you know that it stopped because you are still able to view the cameras real time, su unless your looking for past data you wouldn't know. Oh wait, it then gets worse...when you try to get help, you initially speak to a call center in India in which you can not understand them and there is an annoying amount of noise in the back ground. Then you are transferred to technical support in which you are left on hold at times for over an hour. I have tried reaching them on several attempts with the same results. The only time I was able to get through the individual couldn't really help and simply said to shut down reboot and call back...I would think long and hard about this company and any of there products...What good is a company if when you need there assistance you can't get it. I don't think the quality is all that good either.

Thank you for your feedback. We're sorry to hear you are having trouble with your system. We have attempted to reach you via email but please call our technical support team at 1-877-755-6739 for assistance.

I liked the echo series DVR, they provided a good service, the instalation was simple enough, as long as you have the time or the help to run cables all over your property (My farthest camera had to be installed 300 feet away). The one thing I am not completely happy about is that afer about a year, some of the cameras showed a pink solarized effect. Lorex support told me that the camera lens was damaged by uv rays from the sun.
I wish there would be informaiton on the package at the time of purchase, advicing customers in how to protect the cameras from UV rays. My cameras were not pointing to the sun, but they were all in the east part of my property, so I suppose the sun glare was affecting them regardless they were not looking abover the horizon. So, I upgraded to a higher 16 channel DVR HD system, for a great price during December Lorex sales. Thay are working good so far, but I will update after some months of use. One thing to notice about Lorex systems is that apparently their cameras have a particular impedance, meaning you can not install or replace non-lorex cameras with the lorex system (this I have tested myself). Also, you can not use the lorex cameras in a non-lorex DVR (this I have not tried myself). I am not fan of systems that are only compatible with their own brand, because reduces customer flexibility and options, however, this could be compensated if the price, quality and customer service of Lorex is top notch, which I am still evaluating. Customer service has been good to me so far.

This is my second review for this product. The reason for the second review is because I have continued to have problems with my cameras. I purchased the LH1896 8 cameras with DVR @ Costco in April 2014. When I first wrote my first review I had issues with 3 cameras. The issues I have had are with the screen color on the cameras. One of the cameras had a green tint and the others a red or pink tint. So far Lorex has replaced 5 cameras out of my 8 and I am starting to have issues with 2 of the 3 left that were not replaced under warranty but the warranty is now up. I starting to think I was sold a defective product or is Lorex’s products only supposed to last for a year.

Thank you for your feedback. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. Our sales team would be happy to assist you with one of our latest systems and we also offer an extended warranty to protect your purchased. 1-888-425-6739.

I purchased this set from Costco and set them up my self. After a few months the cameras one by one started to turn purple and flickering. Now only 2 of the 8 cameras aren't working properly and can't make out images during the day. I would recommend the dvd but I would recommend getting different cameras. I tried calling Lorex and they told me I would have to purchase new camera that would cost more then buying a new set or returning them to the store.

Thank you for your feedback. We apologize for any difficulty you experienced and are happy to have resolved this for you.

Glad I got extended warranty, cameras do not last very long. I believe all 8 of mine have gone bad and been replaced. Two of the replacements did not work right out of the box. The last bad one was sent in before my warranty expired and has not been returned. It has been over a month and no one at customer service can help me. I have left several voice messages and get no return calls. I have sent several emails and get no response. Today I have been on hold for over 30 minutes so hung up, called back and complained, have now been on hold for 20 minutes with no results. After 35 minutes got a supervisor and she said they would send me a camera.

Thank you for your feedback. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. We hope the replacements are working well for you.

Very pleased with camera performance and ease of connectivity with all of our devices. System works very well. I purchased two systems at Costco, one for my home in AZ and one in Ontario.

Outside of Lorex' control was the installer competence. In AZ, the installers recommended by Installer Net were exemplary. Unfortunately in Canada, the installer was a major disappointment who lacked competence and professionalism even though he was recommended by InstallerNet..

In my fourth year of owning this system...unfortunately on my 4th DVR ( went from 3 of the 338 series now to 158 series )...all 6 outdoor cameras and 1 indoor camera working flawlessly over this time....system is backed up with UPS so no power surge issues...worked with TS to resolve issues a few times....and wrote reviews to get extended warranties....the last one failed at just less than 2 years while still under warranty...so they recently shipped out a free refurbished 1581001B with Stratus service....this was new to me but very welcome...so far so good....upgrade from 338 other than it does not have an extended IR capability so strictly line of site which does not work for me ( have to use mouse )...there are other choices out there but came back due to Lorex supporting what they sell with no hassles....gave 4 stars...will give more when DVR works past 2 years....

I'm using the Lorex EC04- 8 channel system now for less than 2- years NOW. No Issues with the system. Then approx. 1-1/2 years into this system the Hard Drive began recycling- basically the system BEGAN TO recycle on & off - non stop.

I was hesitant to call due to "a potential run around with customer service". Not with Lorex- my call went quickly to a customer service person - then to technical assistance (FLIR). We quickly diagnosed the issue (Hard drive Failure) and had me call customer service again with a Return Number- authorizing a Hard Drive replacement.
I did this... Today the system is operating the way it should. GREAT SERVICE FROM LOREX.

....VERSUS THEIR COMPETITORS WHO'VE regretfully used purchased product from.

STAY WITH lOREX - great follow through and they stand behind there products!!

I have used it about one year.
Two of my camera is not working right.
On screen, those two camera put out faded color which makes me think that lens or night vision is acting up.
It's just out of one year warranty and cameras are expensive to replace when I bought whole system for $499.
I don't wanna spend over $200 for to replace 4 camera.
I'm little disappointed about how long it last until it doesn't work right.

I was given this camera as a gift by my brother. love the product for it's simple setup. the only clinks is that 1) wiring is only 60 feet I really wish that if you can give 100ft wiring it would make life a lot simple, 2) also if you could add the accessories such as Security surveillance microphones as part of product.3) extra 4-in-1 power security adapter for security cameras 4) BNC security coupler. and extras like this I know may cast but these things help out a lot if they come in the package will really help. over all product is nice simple and easy to install and setup I would give it a 5 rating.

I bought DVR with 8 cameras from Costco. The saleperson gave me the box with a blessing: "Young Lady, you will be safe from now on." I am still learning about the system and not using it with its full capacity. Copying takes little longer. Programming to record needs time - not instantaneous. Lately, "Log Search" doesnot back up. However, it serves the purpose for me. I will add more in time.

I purchased this product a little over a year ago at Costco. At first I was pleased with it but a couple of months after the warranty ran out my cameras started to fail. I now have 3 out of 8 cameras bad. They seem to work ok in the dark but during the day I have a purple haze that I can not get rid of. I did respond to an email they sent from Lorex stating that if I would fill out the first review they would extend my warranty an extra year so I did fill out the review and even got a response from Lorex thanking me for the review. Well when the first camera failed I called to get it replace thinking I had two years of warranty. I was told at tech support that they could not replace the cameras because the warranty was out and they knew nothing about extending the warranty and asked me to find a copy of their email and my email concerning the extended warranty. I will not buy Lorex again because of the faulty cameras and the poor customer service. This is the worst customer service I have ever had on any purchase that I had a problem with so close to the warranty ending which it should not have ended had they been honest about the extra year. Beware and read all the reviews before you purchase Lorex.

I was pretty disappointed with this set. I mainly bought it b/c the price was pretty good at Costco after a $100 rebate. We didn't install it until our new home was built, about 9 months after I bought this set. Then only 6 months later, the DVR crashed and became an expensive piece of trash. Also, one of the cameras (supposedly outdoor/weatherproof) was completely flooded with water about a month after that. Lastly, the lack of any response at all from Lorex customer service to my inquiry to get the camera replaced led me to take the time to write this negative review. I didn't even ask to have the DVR replace. You might want to look at a different brand and spend a little more upfront, since I've now paid more than I saved to get a new DVR and camera (neither are from Lorex).

I bought this system lhv1000 lwr 26012015-000XX
from costco in long time ago. I was so fearful to install by myself , and was looking for a PRO
To install it for me , most of them are very expensive.
So I leaved it these .
Finally, after a holiday I just try to do it myself .
On 1/24/2015 Oh my god! Thanks to Loren ,The setup was really simple and a lot of fun, my whole family was having fun now.
Unfortunately, I was also having problems with channel 7, it keep showing channel 7 and channel 5 over and over, I swap the camera , it still kept flashing between these two channels. So I called tach support team, so they respond to my problem quickly, and friendly, but didn't solve my problem yet. So I am waiting for next step ........

I purchased the LH1896 8 cameras with DVR @ Costco in April 2014. Installation and DVR setup was really simple. Setting up my Samsung Galaxy phone for remote viewing was really simple too. So far I've had no problems with the DVR but I've had issues with 3 cameras. Two of the cameras had problems with the screen color and the third would flicker at night causing the motion detection to go off all night. I have returned 1 camera so far under my warranty with no problem. It took about 7 days for me to get my replacement camera. The only thing I did not care for was having to pay shipping and handling fees. Most companies will send you your replacement first and then you can return your defective product in the same box with the return postage which is provided for you. Overall I am happy with my product and at least my cameras were still having issues while still under warranty.

I bought this system a little over a year ago and just installed it this fall. The installation was reasonably easy. After several months of use two of the six cameras have failed. No problem I had two extra. But now the hard drive failed. I called tech support which was very helpful. They verified that the hard drive was defective and that it was no longer in warranty. They told me to contact customer support. I'm not to thrilled with this system so far.

Purchased a LH1896 8 camera system in Feb. Took me awhile to install but completed in July, setup seemed fairly easy but I couldnt get iPhone access working. Also the 960 cameras hardly have enough resolution to make out a face. The DVR had intermittent issues with freezing and channels stopping video. Opened a ticket and had a very painful experience dealing with Lorex support. My case got closed, and I was requested to send a receipt to Warranty Returns for a RMA. Got no response for weeks, then the case reopened pending? And a request to send proof of purchase receipt again. Couldn't get through the support line, left my number for a callback but got no call. Eventually got an RMA and returned the defective DVR. Then nothing for weeks. Tried to get through by phone again, finally success, and a support person needed to correct multiple errors on my case. I received the DVR the next week and it is working. Now I have a bad camera, opened a case for return and attached the proof of purchase receipt. Got the same automated message again, send proof of purchase to the warranty dept. This has been so painful, I cannot recommend this system because of the support and product quality.

I purchased this system and have been quite satisfied with the peace of mind that it provides. I have been able to quickly monitor my residence while we are away by simply using the app that accentuates this system. I have had an issue with one of my cameras that creates a bit of fuzziness on the bottom of the picture, but otherwise have been totally satisfied with this system. I would highly recommend a Lorex security system (and have) to anyone looking for added security.

I had this one for almost one year now. 2 cameras and the DVR need to be replaced. The quality of the pictures are not as good as showing in the website. But as long as I am able to get the replacement I will still give it 3 stars.
The problem is the color of the pictures was in bright blue. and The DVR not able to auto rewrite.
I purchased it through Costco.com.

The new app for mac and android is better than the old one. The only complain is that don´t have support for google chrome and in my PC I need use Internet Explorer for windows and Safari for Mac.

UPDATE:
After ensuring the cameras were working correctly along with wires being good, etc. I installed everything and was working fine. Cloud connectivity was a breeze, mobile ap a breeze too. I can connect from anywhere...nice option. Now it seems two out of the four cameras are already getting funky. In low light one begins to flicker and that causes what it thinks is motion, triggers recording which leads to huge files and wasted disk space. Cameras don't work as hoped in low light. The 2nd camera just freaks out every two or three seconds. Scattered image for a second or two, triggers what the camera thinks is motion, triggers recording and leads to huge files with nothing on them, wasting more disk space. I finally had to disable this camera from the software until I either get it replaced or fixed or ???

Overall still satisfied with system, wish the cameras had a higher resolution and plan on checking to see if that's even an option.

I initially had significant issues setting up the system on my MacBook Pro; as the CD that came with the system did not work. I also had a difficult time contacting a person on the helpline; there were several long waits (3 tries waiting for 20 minutes, 50 minutes and 80 minutes) that eventually ended up in hangups. On the fourth try I got through and this is when my attitude on the product changed. I spoke to Dave; who was fantastic, who was on the phone with me for over an hour but eventually got everything to work. It took me 2 days to do the installation; not 30 minutes like it says on the box but now that it is set up I love it. If you are technically savvy; which I am not, you would have less trouble. If you can persevere it is worth it.

I am very happy with this system. I originally purchased the 8 camera 8 channel system but I strongly recommend the 16 channel DVR. This will give you more flexibility to add additional channels. Once you realize how nice the images are you will want to additional cameras. The picture is very nice during the day and good at night. I love the remote access. You can view the images from anywhere on your tablet, iPhone, computer too!

This is my first surveillance system and I am glad I did my research first. The LH150 with Stratus connectivity was the right choice. Setup was a breeze, very simple and straight forward. The UI/software is user friendly and made the configuration painless. I haven't put the cameras up yet. I wanted to make sure everything was working correctly before I had the wires run and cameras mounted.

First impression, good product. I may update this in a month or so after having the system in place and running for awhile.

We are having an issue with the auto-emails but we are contacting tech support for that. We probably missed a setting somewhere. The night vision is good for this price range. I bought the Lorex eight camera ECO system from Costco after hours of online research comparing different products on the market and friend recommendations. After installing the system I am very happy with it. The picture quality is excellent, and the most impressive part of this product is that it is very easy to set up for monitoring through my iPhone. I would send longer tougher screws for the camera, also I would add a price and add a couple of extensions for the camera as part of the package. We had to run a fair distance for a couple of cameras and found that we had to wait to get the extensions. Other than that awesome system. Great picture and easy to operate.

Purchased our Lorex ECO4 from Costco, bundled with 12 cameras for $800. The system is a 960H which is decent in video presentation but would have loved for HD. If you're looking for awesome resolution, this system is NOT for you, go for TRUE HD. I did my own wiring which took considerable time, the system was easy to hookup and configure. The mouse interface on the DVR is incredibly difficult to use/navigate, Lorex should add a keyboard support, otherwise, use the Lorex Stratus Client to further configure your system. Our system came with 12 cameras, 8 bullet and 4 dome. The bullet cameras are made of PVC, they look and feel cheap but to my surprise, they are built tough (although I would have preferred the cameras be made of metal housing). I had a faulty dome camera in which Lorex warranty took care of. One of the highlights for me is the iphone 5 app in which you can view your cameras remotely. All in all, the value paid is exactly what I received. (TIP: Test all cameras prior to installing - Make sure you cover the camera to test the night vision activation, for me, one of the cameras failed in night vision mode).

Read the reviews on the Lorex LH 150 8 camera system that Costco was selling and decided to purchase the system. The system was pretty simple to install and setup with the Stratus Connect. In the first week that the system was operating it recorded persons attempting to open are car doors late one night. We later learned that other cars had been broken into and items had been stolen. We learned how to convert the DVR video with the Lorex software and provided the police with the video. The persons were caught and our neighbors items were returned. The PC client software and the IPhone app both work flawlessly. The 960H cameras take clear video during the day and pretty clear video at night. We are impressed with the Lorex LH150 8 camera systems performance.

Just the right tool for the job at my office. Not for the staff but for the funny dudes with paint cans at night or day time delivery supervision.
The app for the Iphone is great and the Lorex client works well from my office computer.
Computer set-up is great, can?t say the same for my other camera provider, that set-up still does not have a simple remote service.
If I had to start all over I would get the HD cameras, if you need to get the info of a licence plate it's the best tool. Can?t do that with the 960H set-up where the cameras are on the roof top of my building.

The quality of the cameras are top rate. I can be in one area of the house and watch what is happening on the other side. We can watch from any place with our cell phones. We were even out of the country and could see what was happening at home using my tablet. And going back to any day and any time is a snap. The only thing I wish is that I could zoom in. I bought this product after going thru a lot of information online at various sites. The club I belong to had ask me at one time to help put up cameras for surveillance there to help discourage problem with workers. I help but had never seem the out come of how it looked. I ask the manager of the club trustees if I could see how the cameras work and quality. He said yes and I got to see the final of how it came out. The quality was impressive to me and the simplicity. I ask the brand and he said Lorex. After that my choice was clear as to what system I was going to use for my home. Simple to set up and fairly simple to use. I even put the app. on my phone with out a lot of hassle. I really think you will like it if you try it.

We purchased this system several months back, and it has worked great ever since! Great value for the price, as long as you understand that you're NOT buying a HD system!

Installation is pretty straight forward, especially when compared to a couple of other brands that I've installed in the past. The Stratus remote viewing/playback is VERY EASY to setup. I actually went into the process trying to figure out how to setup a Lorex DDNS account and started setting the port forwarding on my router before I realized that I didn't have to do ANY of that! This is a major plus for any of you that don't have any networking experience (Which I would imagine is the great majority of people looking for a DIY security solution).

I've had to utilize recorded video in a couple of situations, and the playback options are pretty easy to figure out. All in all, I think the layout of the system is pretty easy to manage. It may take some time to figure out, but nothing too complicated for anyone that can follow instructions.

We added on an external microphone (Not Lorex brand, but still works well with Lorex DVR) for sound in our backyard, and everything syncs well and is recorded as I would expect. We also swapped 4 of the hard wired cameras for 4 Lorex wireless cameras for areas that were difficult to run cable to. They are also working with the system as well as can be expected, and I highly recommend looking into them depending on how much time/frustration you're willing to exhaust running cabling throughout your house!

Overall, considering price, ease of installation, setup, and continued use, I easily give it a 5/5 star rating!

I purchased this product because of an ongoing stalker problem with legal involvement. I purchased this product at Costco. Initially my product did not work. The system would not record over previous material and would just stop when space ran out. The system was also below the correct storage capacity for the required product description at 250MB of storage. This was about 24hrs worth of record time at continuous on all 8 channels. I called customer support 3 times. Apparently there are different places for customer support. At the one service center, NO ONE was useful and they lacked knowledge of their own systems. At the other service center, they were helpful and knowledgeable...So quality of customer service depended upon time of day and which service center you got. The helpful service center discovered my problem and acted swiftly to resolve my issues... I was sent a replacement dvr, which is currently working fine, though I changed out the hard drive for a 2TB drive so as to retain more of my recordings.

The cameras are adequate though not exceptional and limited in clarity. If I had not been in such a hurry to have my home under surveillance, I would have gotten HD cameras. My current system will not allow the upgrade.

The purpose of a surveillance system is not just to review the video from the home system, but also from the remote system. The home viewing is also adequate but not particularly user friendly.

The software for remote viewing on my PC is NOT user friendly. I have constant problems with the playback, in 8x mode I should be able to zip to whatever sequence I need. With this system I have to have it in 8x mode just to almost see real time viewing of past footage. You cannot rewind in the remote viewing either. You cannot zoom in the remote viewing either.

When I took footage to the police station, they could not view the original video in the format in which this system records. I had to struggle with finding and making the avi generator work and convert it myself. This caused problems with accusations of tampering with evidence...

While overall this system has given me peace of mind to an extent, I would have chosen a better quality if I had known the problems I would face.

I bought this system from Costco after seeing a neighbor's system. Installation was relatively straight-forward, and installing the app on my iPod Touch was easy. I had some questions about all the different settings (beware: the default is to record continuous motion on all cameras which really eats up memory) so I called up the number that Costco provided. Some of their advice was good, but some of it was not. Later I called the tech support at Lorex and they really seemed to know the product and they were very helpful. Recently, I called up sales at Lorex because I had some more questions (I am considering installing a Lorex system on another property)--first, I was put on hold for a long time, then given the option of having a sales person call me back. They never called back. I called again, and got a sales rep who kind of knew what he was talking about, but wasn't very enthusiastic about helping me sort through the options.

System is inexpensive, and easy to set up. Seems to work well, however it is very hard to use the DVR. The software looks like it was written 20 years ago. Remote software is better, but still clumsy. Android app is worthless. Live view works, but none of the options seem to.

Self installed in home. Instructions very clear can be installed by someone with limited technical skills. The remote connectivity was a major selling point. Down loaded app for android and as the ad says it only takes 2 minutes to set up. Their competitors ap was not compatible with my 1 year old Samsung tablet. I would recommend using a good tv or monitor that supports HDMI and 1920X1080 resolution don't use a computer monitor with RGB plug. Also if you have some lighting out side to help the IR at night it will greatly increase your viewing distance.

I now wish I had waited a few more days before sending my review of my Lorex system. I have now found how to eliminate the jerky appearance of the pictures when using the Client software, and how to improve the view in general when using this software. The remaining distraction is when using the system from the DVR monitor I have to log in almost every time I enter the main menu or change the pictures that are presented at the same time. The product is very good and I would give it 5 stars except for the constant requirement to log in.

I just purchased this camera system about a week ago and most things are going great. I usually spend several days testing a system before I mount it to my house. I have had several different camera systems from several different manufactures and have returned them all. So far, I haven't felt the need to return this system. I am torn between giving this system a 4 or a 5. When I am away from my home network, I have yet to get the remote viewing to work with my iPad and/or iPod, but I believe it is the remote system's server/network not allowing me to receive the video. When I use my laptop, my remote viewing works just find at the same place that don't work with my iPad/iPod. As a previous reviewer mentioned, these cameras are not as clear as the HD IP camera, but they are half the price. I would recommend these cameras.

The system itself was easy to set up, but I was led to believe by the salesman that the cameras would provide clear enough detail to see car plates and facial features. It isn't, unless the people or the vehicles are very close. If you want a system to just watch over something then it fits the bill, but if you want to actually use the system to be able to make cases or tell who is driving or walking up to your property, this will not do it. I plan to take it back to Costco ASAP and get a 1080 HD system, either from them or Lorex direct. I also had the night vision go out on one of the two cameras I set up to test. The phone help from Lorex and Costco was very good. The Lorex help desk assured that the 1080 HD will fit the bill and I hope they are right

I recently purchased the LH150 EC04 series last year and had it professionally installed a fews back. This security system gives me piece of mind as I am able to view what is happening in and around my home.
I expected the quality of the camera's (when viewing from my DVR) and mostly the night vision to be better.
I am experiencing some issues and need to contact Lorex directly, just haven't had the time.

I plan on upgrading the system to add more camera's.

I purchased the system from lorex website for $2299.99, and it included the Eco 4 DVR with 8 960H cameras and 8 60 foot cables, plus the other accessories (mouse, remote, etc.). The picture quality is very good and I am happy with my purchase

I bought Samsung before this unit.
My biggest issue with Samsung was the software was not simple to set up.
Returned the Samsung and bought this unit from Costco.

The DVR user interface is a lot simpler than the Samsung.
The android apps is very easy, the PC remote client is very simple too.

My only issue is the "motion area", it is a bit too touchy.
Even after set up to 1 out of 10.

Overall for the price I paid, it is a good system.

I purchased my product and have been more than pleased with the product in itself. However, I must say that I am more than dissatisfied with the technical support in every way shape and form. The tickets they have you fill out to have someone get back with you...well I've filled out about 4-5 of them and NOT ONCE has anyone EVER gotten back to me about anything. Even when I call the support line, I usually get someone from Guam or Thailand or somewhere where English is the fifth language.

I'm testing the cameras for a week before I start drilling holes. The remote viewing is awesome very easy and quick set up. The only thing I would ask is for lorex to consider providing longer cables at least 100 feet instead of the 60 feet. I recommend this product 100percent. For the price you can't beat it. The system was easy to install with the exception of crawling through the attic. High quality components. The system is easy to use. It took about five minutes to figure out how to play back after deer were noticed in my driveway. I returned from a quick trip to the store and there were 2 deer in the driveway. I reviewed the video on the hard drive and there were 5 deer in total two of which appeared to be posing for the camera. I have never seen deer on my property before this happened. I am happy with this product.

I purchased this system and spent over 4 weeks installing (removing parts of my house). Got the unit installed with all cameras and wire hidden and works great. Good camera pictures on the monitor Look good ! Until it required me to do an update which I did. After rebooting the "LOREX" screen was the only thing it would do. I did everything--nothing worked. Call tech and they said it had to be returned. I purchased the system from COSTCO WHOLESALE and they would only take it back if I pulled everything out of the house and return it and they would replace it. Now I got to pay to have the unit shipped back to Lorex for a replacement when they sold me one that didn't work or their update program is corrupted !!! I think a company that warranty their product would cover the cost since their produce does not work. Should have went with the other brand.

This system was easy to hook up. Especially on my iphone! Some of the options take alittle while to get used too. Only difficulty is running the wires through the wall studs and hidding the wires neatly. The cameras are good but you can't adjust them to be right side up on some vertical mounting areas. If it had a ball joint-type arm adjustment, it would be better. The color on the camera views is amazing. The night vision is good but I have one camera that blinks at night vision only. I can't figure it out?Cuz I have another camera right next to it with no issues. I haven't viewed this system on my Desk-top PC yet. Love being able to view my home on my i-phone. It only took me exactly 2 mins to get the App up and running. 5-Stars*****. Costco has the best price and I recommend this unit to everyone. My neighbors are interested as well.

good carrot to offer extended warranty if you write a review though it could open Lorex up to some criticism. They have big shoulders so they can take it.

For the price the LH150ECO4 that I bought from Costco is a great system and a very nice upgrade from my old Lorex.

The user interface on the box is a little clumsy (trying to enter my login info every time is painful) but the windows client program works much better. They are slowly making the user interface easier.

Quality of the cameras are superior
Network setup was easy as pie
Firmware upgrade feature : nice
Quiet fan

Still struggling with the recording & playback working properly
Still trying to figure out how to Zoom in while in Live view
windows program could use some more built-in help & mouse-overs
(and I'm a techie)

if I had a complaint though trivial, there should be a model with only 4 cameras; I'm not sure how many people or companies can afford to wire in 8 cameras. OR switch out a couple of wired cameras for a wireless. Now does anyone want to buy some cameras? I've got a few for sale.

Well this is my first system to install and the install went pretty good. I have to admit it was not much fun crawling through the blown in insulation in the attic, that was the worse part of the install. As a tip, when you plug in the cameras use black tape to hold the power connectors together. This way when you pull the wires you will not unplug the camera and have to crawl back in to plug it together. Yah you guessed it and its always the one in the farthest corner! Once the system was all installed I called Costco tech help and they were great in helping with the Network set up. They did it all from their end, all I had to do was type in my password when asked to and provide them with the info off the machine. Another thing I learned is that at night the infrared will bounce off a white rafter and blind the camera. To correct this I aimed the cameras at night to get the clearest picture. I did end up with two bad cables that the company offered to replace at no charge. The ends at the machine are bad as wiggling them causes the picture to come and go. I moved them to another port and the problem followed the cables. I am not keen on going back up into the attic to replace them so I have not taken them up on the offer as of yet. Thinking I would first try contacting the local security outfit to see if they could just replace the ends. For this reason I think it would be a good idea on a new unit to first connect everything up and make sure all works before starting the install. Kind a like you do with Christmas lights before you put them on your tree.....

I just bought this system jan 2nd 2014. It was very easy to set up although I did not realize that using the cameras inside to watch outside would cause a glare and not work. although I did a work around by blanking off the IR lights and this worked well because there is plenty of artificial lighting outside I left the light sensor open so daylight would be color. I was able to remote into the system on my laptop. I downloaded the android app for my phone but was not able to connect using my wifi home network. I am going to download the app again and try again both wifi and 4g method. If it doesn't work I will check with tech support. I wish the time out remote hook up would last a little longer than 10mins. all and all though being my first security system I like it very much so far. once summer arrives I plan to hook the cameras up outside in a secure area. I give it a 4 star so far and can review again as I become for familiar with the system.

I have a system that is not Lorex and that systems direct interface to the dvr is more user friendly and has more options. I am disappointed with the motion sensor compared to my other system. Lorex only allows one email address to send an alert to, I can send it to several with my other system. If I give a login to another user Lorex does not give me the option of which cameras to allow them to see, Its all or none, therefore I cannot control my privacy. Everytime I do something with the direct interface it requires me to login again, thus far I have not found a way around that and it is very annoying. I find it easier to use the PC laptop software interface. The direct interface allow the viewing of 4, 9 or 16 cameras, why not give the direct interface the optional views like the iphone and pc? For these reasons its down 2 stars and I would gladly give the stars back in return for a software package upgrade!
I do like the 700tvl 960H cameras with a wider view and clarity.

Everything seems to work rather well, except when accessing the system via mobile devices. The software seems to lock up the phone and the program 40% of the time especially when you try to exit the application. And this happens on both Android and iOS, but more on iOS.
Also when we used it for the first time, the motion detection recording was not working. Had to call Customer Svc via Costco svc, this resolved the issue on first call although it took a while to troubleshoot it. Not confirmed, but the problem could be when the Record button on the DVR box is pressed, it may have locked the setting into "Continuous" recording, and couldn't be changed to "Motion" detected recording using the app.
Good: it loads up on mobile devices pretty fast, and for such the complicated system, the installation/setup was pretty simple and straight forward except for the bug mentioned above.
One more issue, the fas-forwarding is not working on mobile devices when in PlayBack mode.

I've owned this unit for about 4 months now and have gotten very familiar with it. Now that the Android app has been updated, it is much more convenient to review or monitor live via wireless device. I have the DVR mounted high in a secure area in the garage, and one thing that i noticed was that the system interferes with the wireless control of the garage door opener. I initially assumed that my garage door opener was failing, but after some extended troubleshooting i was able to isolate it as interference from the unit. To get around the interference (i did not want to relocate the DVR), I upgraded to a wifi controlled garage master switch so i can now open and close it using a smart phone app (using my existing garage door opener). Aside from this hiccup, the system has performed admirably all winter.

Purchased at Costco. Good quality product at a reasonable price. Selection was based on recommendations from others who have and like the system.

Have implemented Internet and iPhone features.

Easy-to-use application to adjust router settings was a nice touch and would be a godsend to anyone not technically oriented. PC application is superior to the built-in Android application which seems really dated.

As someone who builds software, provides technical support, and writes documentation, my only real issues are with the documentation and software. Not much on the included CD. Needed to do a good bit of Googling to find what I was looking for and a fair amount of experimentation to figure out the software. Right click here, tap twice there, and all that kind of stuff with no included help files. Seems to a be typical situation these days when dealing with any technical product or software.

Only real criticism of the hardware is the camera mounts. Was determined to avoid images that included unwanted elements like soffits and rain gutters. Wanted to extend the mounts a bit. The threads in the mounts are non-standard, not NPT so couldn't simply run down to the hardware store and pick up an extension.

Got an 8 camera system. Cameras are packaged in boxes of 4 with power supplies. Interestingly, they changed the camera- to-power supply connectors. They were different in the two boxes which would be something to take into consideration if I ever had to replace a power supply.

For the price, it's a good surveillance system. It was fairly easy to install. I needed to replace the camera mounting screws because I kept stripping the screw head when driving the screw in. I had no problems with the replacement screws I bought at a hardware store.
I'm a little discontent with the way the dvr saves a video file on a flash drive. I was hoping I would be able to backup a playback video file onto a USB flash drive in a format that's viewable on a Mac. The lorex site only provides a video player, and not a video conversion software. It would be more user friendly if I was able to play a backed up video straight from the USB flash drive on any readily available player. PC or Mac.
Other than that, I'm happy with the system.

Thanks for the chance to receive an extra year on our warranty, I bought my system about a month ago. I had my electrician run the wires and mount the cameras as I am not doing these things anymore. I am still learning a lot about the whole system, I am loving it so far. I have been wanting to install a system in one of my past houses and I finally have done so. The cameras are very clear and very sturdy as well as attractive. It will be awhile before we buy a newer phone or something to view the system remotely, that is one reason that we wanted this system in the first place. Lorex has a great name and that is the main reason that I purchased a security system. We have a safe area where we live for now, one never knows what we will deal wiyh in the future. So far I have only mounted 4 of the 8 cameras. Overall the system does seem to do a good job and the day pictures are great with very good color. The night pictures are also pretty good without lite and with just a little lite are much better. I am still trying to figure out the system and have not done a complete setup but so far I have found that you can not do some things on the screen with the remote and you must use the mouse. I am not sure yet if there is a problem or I just am doing something wrong. I have not tried the remote viewing yet so I can be not help there. The plastic cameras do concern me a bit but they do seem to be very well made. I do not understand why almost all the camera systems with any company come with cables that say you can not run them behind walls? Where else would you run them? Since I was concerned about this and the cables were only 60 feet I did purchase all new cables that can go behind walls that are fire rated for safety. This did add almost 200.00 to my purchase price so it would be great of better cables were included. I will say a gain so far so good with the product except for the things I did state. It would get 5 stars with better cables!!

I am very pleased with this product and the ability to view all the cameras from my computer, TV, iPhone and iPad. I hired my regular electricians to install the system so that all the wires went in through the attic and so that none of the cameras could be disabled or tampered with. It took two experienced electricians over 10 hours to install the system properly and the hardest part was connecting the DVR to the internet. This was an expensive installation and I called tech support today and was on hold for over 30 minutes. Finally when a technician answered the call, I could barely understand him due to his foreign accent. After speaking with him about how to use specific features, the call was disconnected and the tech support person did not call me back even though I provided my home and cell phone numbers. My electricians tried to call tech support during the installation but it was after 5pm EST and no one was available to help which was very frustrating to say the least. I hope to get my questions answered and understand the system better after testing the features but I am not satisfied with the tech support and hope Lorex will have after business hours in the future. Overall, the product is good but the tech support and customer service needs to be improved significantly. The product gets 4 stars but the support gets no stars. Unless the issues I described are improved, I would not recommend this product to anyone else.

System was easy to install with al wiring included. Setup and connectivity to internet for remote viewing was straightforward with only difficulty setting up port forwarding in the router. Once setup connecting from PC, Iphone or Ipad was easy to accomplish with the included instructions.

The system worked good with only a problem with one camera, when I tried to contact Lorex they had wait times of one hour. I left my phone number with no reply so far ( it has been 2 days now) . I had an question for the tech guys before purchasing my third Lorex system for a client in less than one month but no one available to answer my question. This eventually cost me the job. I also have a problem getting the system to e mail my alert and no one to help?? Now that they made the sale I guess I'm on my own?

Overall, the system works well as long as you don't have to interact with it. This also makes getting it set up not as easy as it could be. Disregarding the need to run lines to the locations you want cameras (this is going to be hard no matter what), here are some of the issues I've run into.

1) The included remote cannot be used to enter a user name and password, at least as far as I can figure. You need the mouse connected so as to be able to move from the user name field to the password field. At that point you may as well use the mouse for entering both.
2) If you want to use HDMI to a hidef TV, you need to know to set the resolution of the main device to it's highest setting (basically 1080P) in order to get it to work. Unfortunately, doing this requires that you connect a VGA monitor. Ugh. Luckily I had one lying around. Note that learning this required a call to tech-support. Waiting for a half hour. Explaining the problem and getting the answer, only to be told that the call time has expired and that I'd need to follow through on my own and call back later (and again wait a half hour or more) if the changes didn't work.
3) The PC interface for moving through a playback is *very* clunky. Trying to find and set a playback position is barely usable.
4) There is a lot of documentation, but not a lot of explanation of what each of the multitude of settings do. For example, if you're new to this stuff (like me), trying to figure out what Alarm Latch time means requires more explanation than "Select the desired latch time when an alarm triggers".
5) There isn't a Stratus app for Windows Phone.

Overall, I don't mean to imply that this is a bad or poor product. It just isn't quite as polished as I was expecting.

Installed the system last weekend and very pleased with the results, and especially the quality of the video. Since this system is not HD, I was a little concerned whether the video quality would be acceptable. In actuality, it is very acceptable, very good quality video. I'm impressed with the night vision quality also. Obviously the night vision is much more limited, and mainly you see a large center circle of the screen but you can see in that circle area very well for a 40-50 ft. range. I have 2 cameras monitoring different views of my home's porch, and in total darkness I still get a very good B&W image of the entire porch area - much better than I expected.

The DVR works very well. The playback via the web app works OK but can be a little quirky at times.

So overall, i would definitely recommend this system.

For the price, this unit has far exceeded my expectations as far as performance. The included 960H camera's are very clear during the day, and better than expected at night. I'm considering trying out a 960H camera with dynamic noise reduction to see how much better night vision can be. Setting up remote viewing is a snap with the Stratus feature. I was able to set up 2 cell phones and 3 tablets in less than 10 minutes. Remote viewing using my wifes iPad is very good with many available features. I am able to view all 8 channels at the same time and am able to drag and drop each channel where ever i want them positioned on the screen. The remote viewing via my Galaxy Tab however is very poor. Only 4 channels can be viewed at one time and cannot be dragged and dropped to whatever position i'd like. The Android app is only viewable in portrait mode, whereas the iOS app will rotate with the tablet regardless of position. The android app is definitely in need of a serious update. As for the DVR, I wish the user interface was a bit more intuitive. It requires alot of research online to figure out how to operate the system and set it up properly as far as making adjustments and customizing settings.

I have to say that I am totally impressed with this unit. The camera's have a really great picture. The daytime colors are fantastic and the night vision is impressive. The ease of hooking everything up and setting up my phone to view the camera's when I'm away was so simple. I've heard so many nightmares about other camera system in this price range, I have to admit I was concerned that this would be one for me, but no worries, so simple and works great. I would recommend this system for anybody wanting a great quality system that is easy to install and use.
Great product.

I purchased this system from a membership store at a good price. A rebate at the cash register at time of purchase made it a great price. I'm partially up and running. I've got three cameras installed and so far everything is working well. I'm taking my time because it's not an easy task running the camera lines through the attic for me. Crawling through the trusses and making sure not to put my big feet through the ceiling is my only issue. Sure I could have it done, but I do my own projects. Set up for the Iphone was painless and works great. Getting the ddns option to work took a visit from my son-in-law to get it going. Routers (I have two of them) are not my cup of tea but he figured it out, it all works fine now. The picture quality is okay and for the money I spent I'm happy with it. I would recommend this system to a friend.

So far, so good. Pretty easy setup. The Dome Cameras are a bit of a pain to physically adjust the viewing angle but still okay. Not sure how to stop the red led (HDD) on the front of the DVR from flashing-annoying, especially in a dark room. Possibly this will be addressed in some part of the documentation I haven?t read yet. Very good set of options for individual camera?s such as when to record, areas of a picture to not record (have not tested this yet), sensitive and non-sensitive areas for motion/triggering, groups of cameras to view when motion is detected on a specific camera, etc.
More comprehensive review when I have this completely deployed.

Just installed the system. The installation was extremely easy. I had to run one camera 300 feet and was amazed at the clarity of the video. I did not think the DC voltage would carry that far but there was no problem. Had to return one defective camera. The tech support was great and had no problem receiving a return authorization. Software is extremely user friendly.

Excellent product and good customer service. I shopped around and eneded up buying this fron Costco and was very surprised at the quality for the lower end systen with only 8 channels but...i would buy again for sure. Easy instalation and easy to get online. I did have a few problems with the android app but lorex customer service got me going again. Its definitely a better interface than my neighbors systems and way easier to search on the hard drive. Only complaint is not being able to hook up more cameras in the future..which is why i gave it 4 stars...nice if i had a few ports to plug in more cameras at a later date. Otherwise no complaints!

I love the product but holly crap talking to a technician in India is a bunch of bull! The people in America would love to talk to an American so we can understand what the heck they are saying. I had to give up on getting my problem solved, I will try youtube again with an American talking English and crossing my fingers I will be successful. I would give a five star but with the technical support I am going with three.

Very nice system. This was a first for me, I have never installed one before but found this easy. The hardest part was to decide where to put cameras and the DVR.
One thing that I would complain about is customer service. If you need to call be prepared for a two hour hold time. Once I got a human on the phone she wanted to take my phone number and call back. All I needed was 15 seconds for a quick question.

I got this system 1 month ago, but idid not install it until 2 weeks ago. System is Ok, however, there is wrong information and infact mis representsation about using the android or Iphone you can monitor the house is absolutely false. the company did not tell that i need wi-fi in the house and must connect 24/7 to monitor from the cell phone. The cell phone has to be within the range of wi-fi range, otherwise it will say login in failed. Installer is the key and education about how it works should be learned otherwise no use, wasting money. My installer did not do good job, lines were coming off from the DVR, had to call twice to fix it.

System perhaps good but not all functions are true what is claimed on the booklet and top of the box. specifically about cell phone monitoring. i will see few more months see how it works than return it if not working well.

Fairly straightforward getting hardware & software connectivity. The tricky technical part is configuring the DVR (and your WIFI router) for web-based viewing via DDNS. This is where the Lorex technical support was fantastic. It took an hour to get them on the phone, but once I got through, they set-up it remotely for me in 20 mins. Didn't give it 5 stars for hardware finish & image quality of the cameras, but then again the system was priced very competitively.

I did a lot of research on this product and was amazed at how many different types of home security systems and brands where on the market. And there are just as many conflicting reviews as well. However I still kept coming back to Lorex and after much research on their website
i settled on the Lh1896 with the eco4 dvr and 960h cameras. I was a little skeptical still on what to expect with image quality because there are no difinitive answers on cameras that i could find besides manufacturer hype. I was pleasantly suprised when i installed the cameras and the picture was awesome and the night view was amazing given the lack of external light sources

This was a very simple system to install other than running the wiring through the limited attic space. hooking up the dvr was a breeze and with the stratos system i was watching video on my iphone instantly ( ok my wife is somewhat of a IT person so credit goes to her for that)
the system has been installed for about a week now and works flawlessly and its cool to switch inputs on my big screen and cycle through the camera views with the included remote
I would recommend this system and i dont think anyone but the most jaded would be dissapointed

I purchased the 8-camera, wired system a couple of months ago and have now completed all of my camera installations. I have been quite busy with other projects and chose to do this installation at my own pace - a little at a time. Installation, actually, was not difficult except for routing the camera wires through my very hot attic.

Overall, I am quite impressed with the system. The start-up procedures that come with the system are adequate to get started with the system; however, I strongly recommend that you either print out the full manual or download it to your computer for quick reference. To me, some operational items are somewhat complex and you need to read the full instructions very carefully for clarity.

I easily installed internet access to the system on my computer, but am still having trouble setting up access on my i-Pad. I have not yet contacted Lorex about this difficulty, because I want to be able to address as many questions at one time as possible. I have contacted Lorex once with some other questions and found the waiting time quite long (unfortunately, this is not unusual with any technical support calls). I also addressed several questions via the internet, but did not get full responses to my questions. I feel that the best information can be obtained via the telephone if you are willing to tolerate the long wait.

One recommendation for Lorex: Provide a wireless mouse with the system instead of the somewhat antiquated wired mouse!!

Overall, the system and the cameras are quite good. Exactly what I expected since I purchased it from Costco. I have found that Costco has great quality evaluations for all of their products and I always trust them.

Pros:
- Good price for 8 cameras and a 1TB system
- Lorex PC client software has good functionality to configure system.
- Locking BNC connectors to avoid accidental cable disconnects.
- Mobile apps do work if you know what you're doing, but read the cons section.
- Night vision mode works well, but especially with ambient light (street lights, etc)
- Good field of view from the cameras.

Cons:
- Android and iOS apps are lacking useful features. Both apps are functional, but are clunky. The iOS app works better than the Android app, with a little bit better functionality. A feature really needed is the ability to enter a specific time code when reviewing recorded video. The scrubber sliders aren't exact enough to allow you to go to a specific time.

- The video playback on the mobile apps is slow motion only. I cannot get it to play back at regular speed. As a point of comparison, the PC client allows you to change the speeds of playback, and seems to work ok. The mobile apps, however, do not.

- Remote viewing in a web browser is not compatible with any of the browsers I tried. Based on the code of the page, it appears you can only do web browsing from an Apple computer using Safari. The plugin isn't compatible with anything PC (Firefox, IE, Chrome). Maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I'm very tech savvy.

- Port forwarding setup is complex, but this is typical of anything that uses port forwarding. Not really Lorex's fault, but just know that this is a tricky part of the process.

First of all, I find it hard to believe that all the reviews are 5 stars.
All though the unit is a good base line product, it still has its limitations.
I have had other systems with higher quality, but also at a much higher price.
Fairly easy to install and the controls are simple to get uses- to at start up.
It comes with everything you should need, though for those long runs, you may need some extra long cables.
The issues are more in the remote side of installation. (smart phones, pads, computers ect.)
The tutorial (a CD) at best, is vague or unless you?re the Tec that wrote it, can be miss leading.
As for Tec-support, be ready for long waits before talking to anyone.
There nice, but under staffed and hard to get one to talk too.
If you?re looking for HD quality, keep looking and be ready to spend for it.
All in all, it?s a good system for the money (I paid $399. At Costco on sale) it?s a fair price for what you?re getting.

I've installed many cctv systems. This was a good "bang for the buck" system from Costco. After watching the videos where one of the cameras gets hit with a bat and doesn't break, another video where one camera gets shot with a rifle and another video where the camera gets "ran over' by a car, I figured I couldn't go wrong. BOY WAS I WRONG.
1. There were THREE (3) cameras broken right out of the box on the black portion of the camera. MAYBE I GOT THE CAMERAS THAT WERE USED ON THOSE VIDEOS!
2.The dvr won't record motion on channels 3 & 4 at the same time. Spent a lot of time re-setting and swapping ports and cameras and walking out in front of the cameras over and over and over and over only to get questionable results. I've turned down multiple installations when approached to install Lorex systems, I've also recommended that they return them and buy Q-See instead (at least it's been better except for one kit in the last year). STAY AWAY FROM LOREX.
BTW, I'm waiting for their response as we speak for the replacement of the broken cameras.
IF YOU WANT TO AVOID MANY HEADACHES AND TIME CONSUMING ISSUES, CHECK EVERY SINGLE ITEM IN THE BOX PRIOR TO INSTALLING ANYTHING PERMANENTLY ie; cables through attic. Connect all the provided cables, cameras, power supplies and dvr together and power it up, configure it as needed and test test test test. If any hiccups, pack all and return for a refund and go with competition. Otherwise be prepared to go through may phone calls, emails, account-creating websites and possibly paying for shipping and handling in order to get the cameras replaced under warranty (I'll let you know how that goes). Very disappointing!! SITE WOULDN'T ALLOW ME TO SUBMIT REVIEW WITHOUT CHOOSING A STAR, BUT I REALLY WANT TO CHOOSE ZERO STARS!!

So far I am very impressed with the system. I did a mock setup before permanently installing the cameras to make sure that everything was working well. All the equipment worked well - excellent cameras. I setup my I-pad, laptop and Android phone without any difficulties. I made one call to tech support to get some help with email notifications. The wait time was a little long, but once I spoke to the tech person he was very helpful and was able to finish setting up email notification. Installing the cameras permanently was time consuming, but that would have been the case with any wire camera system. I did order two wireless cameras for the more difficult to reach areas and are waiting for them to arrive to finish the entire system. Very pleased so far.

I got this system and then added a PTZ camera to it.I like the fixed cameras picture and wide angle view, but I continue to have issues with set up of email alerts and on the direct feed to my TV I keep getting camera choice issues with the unit becoming stuck on 1 camera,so will need to make yet another call to support and I always end up on hold for at least 30min.
The PTZ camera has poor picture quality when zoomed in to the point of not being a recognizable image.I removed the polycarbonate dome cover and found the picture was much better and noticed a joining seam near the top of the polycarbonate dome where it meets the housing and this causes blurring of all images when looking through it in any direction.I don't understand why there is a joining seam so close the housing when this could be manufactured in one piece dome with no seam? as well there seems to be a reflection from the dome causing auto focus issues. Also when you switch cameras and return to the PTZ camera on the TV you must re-enter your password to get the controller up again ever time.Other issues to try to work out with customer support.
I'm my view the cotroll system needs tweeking to make it more user friendly and the PTZ dome need to be remanufatuted without joining seam.
I think having a lot more basic set up and more controller information could be usefull

I have had 2- Q-see products within the last 3 years THAT HAVE ALL FAILED ( the DVR).
The Lorex system easily adapted to my existing q-see cameras (BNG connectors). I will add the Lorex cameras come spring of 2014. I am hoping that the Lorex system provides years of great service. Time will tell!

The system (Lorex) contains many more useful features ( over the Q-see product)- I've not needed to use Lorex customer service yet - but Q_SEE's Customer service- really sucks! After two systems- stay away.

So far- I like the Lorex system.

The ECO-4 series is good value for money, in the sense that the cameras are 700 TVL resolution, and the DVR is 1TB, with Stratus Cloud technology.
I like the compact nature of the entire system, with neat power adapters and wiring.
The picture quality on live viewing is good, but the screen resolution needs to be optimal.
Online viewing quality depends on the internet connection strength, but it does the job.
The setup for remote viewing by creating a DDNS account is a bit of work needing technical help. The response time of the technical team is fair, once you open a ticket with them.
A BLACKBERRY App for mobile viewing is a MUST, because a lot of us professionals still are on Blackberry, and its a pity not to be able to remote view this on our Blackberry devices.
Overall, a good purchase.

The installation of the cameras went smoothly. Good hardware and very good pictures. My real problems started with the DVR, software, web site and the manual. The software doesn't work and the manual is useless in solving the problems. The web site is geared for selling products and is not helpful for problems. The DVR features don't work as designed. I followed the instructions for setting two cameras to record after motion is detected but they show on the monitor as recording. Remote viewing software doesn't work either. (Pump can burn up if it runs dry for too long.) I have now ordered a dispaly from Lorex and two 120 foot video/power cables. Great product...John

After due diligence, and budgetI decided on purchasing the Lorex LH150 at my local Costco for $399.00 + California tax. The box designates having the system installed in 30 minutes. That would be possible if you wanted to leave camera connection exposed on such a short time span. I chose to take my time and send wires through my existing walls for a clean, unexposed connection installation. Choice of camera location was the hardest part on my install as I have a 2,200 square foot 1 story home on a half acre. I installed cameras into my stucco and ran into drywall and then into attic. From attic down wall to designated exit into hard drive. My 52 Sony is my monitor. I am still learning the system, although the system has froze up on me once. I resolved that by turning off the unit and restarting. The cameras, for the money, are ok. Night vision will be a challenge to identify, clearly, a suspect from long distance. But my main intention on buying this system was to keep my shady neighbors honest. I thought I would have to use extensions for the cameras, but so far I have not needed any. I will purchase another hard drive in the future and learn how to utilize the motion detection on specific cameras. If budget would have allowed, a 16 channel system would have been more of what I may have needed. Overall a good system for the money.

Unbelievable - works like advertised if not better.
Had a small problem running dvr program in Windows 8.1 but worked in compatibility mode for Windows 8. Worked instantly on my Windows 7 laptop.
Hardest problem was crawling across the rafters in my attic - to run the wires.
I called tech support (re the 8.1) problem and they were very helpful.
I am glad I didn't go "cheaper".

I was looking at this system and it was priced at $499 could not make up my mine as to buy or not buy. When they put it on sale for $399 I bought it. It took me more time to wrap the house with the wires then anything else. The install of the cameras and setting up the system was easy and fast! The first day and night all was great! The second day one camera lost its full color picture and I called the service line. was on hold for 30 min and found out I needed the serial number of the camera which is on the camera attached up in the air on the house, I was told to call back with it and they gave me a ticket number to tell them when I called back. got un on a ladder and took a picture of the information on the camera with my cell phone. I called service again and again was on hold for 32 min. Based upon the information I gave them they had me ship it back which I did. Now waiting for a replacement camera. The over all process went well and the only thing I hated was the hold time on the phone! I lost an hour a little over an hour of my life. Other then that I really like the system for the price!!!

I bought a Lorex system about 4 years ago. It worked very well until a month ago when we had a power failure and a power surge that burned out the board on the DVR. I did not have a surge protector on it. So, i bought a new system at Costco. Opened it up and the DVR did not turn on and was sparking. I brought it back and got another box. It works great and i very happy with the system, the pictures are great, easy to get on from my computer and my iphone.
I would recommend highly.

I bought the 8-channel security camera system from Costco at a discounted price of $399 which was a very reasonable price. The components are very well packed in a double boxed packaging. Setting up the system was very straight forward. It is a lot easier to configure the system using the computer client than directly using the mouse connected to the DVR or the remote control. All the cameras worked with no problem. The 60-foot cables are just the right length for all the camera locations at my home. The live video when viewing using the HDMI output are very acceptable. Configuring the apps on my iPhone for remote viewing was painless. Although I could view all the channels on my iPhone, it takes a while to load and refresh the videos. Maybe it has to do with the high resolution (960H) and high quality that I was using. I'll try lowering the resolution and/or quality and see if it will help. I would have rated the system 5 stars had it not been of the slow response when viewing remotely with my iPhone. Overall, I would recommend the product.

Current rating based on customer support and providing a product as advertised, not on the quality of the cameras and DVR

Lorex ECO Stratus application does not show on my Android Samsung Dart SGH-T499 (Android 2.2.2) smartphone in playstore. After discussion with them on the phone which took over 1/2 hour on hold and another 1/2 hour being transferred from one person to another they were not able to resolve the issues. They said they were going to get back in touch with me, which they did not. Not hearing anything from them I placed another ticket in to Tech support. They post it is pending and was checking into the issue and I have not heard anything. It has been over a week.

They advertise that "Free apps allow for Instant Mobile Viewing on compatible "Smart Phones & Tablets. No hidden recurring fees. Smart Phone & Tablet Compatibility: iPad®, iPhone®, Android (version 2.2 & above). Mobile phone data plan is required (not included). For the latest compatibility list check www.lorextechnology.com as new models become available in the market."

Based on research, one of the reasons I bought this system and installed it is because it was compatible with Android smartphones 2.2 and above and there was nothing new on the site excluding android smartphones 2.2.

As for the product itself it is easy to set up and use.
As for the product compatibility as advertised, it is not as advertised at the moment
As for customer service, it by the worst service that I have ever had with a product.
Will I recommend it to others? That will all depend on customer service timely reply and if the company can fulfill their product as advertised

What an easy to use product. i have used two other systems in the last ten years, accounting for technology updates, the Lorex 4eco is by far the easiest to:
1) install,
2) set-up remote mobile devices, and
3) monitor from off-site.
The product is well worth the relatively low price.
My recommendation is an A++.

I like the system but am not impressed with the fact that I cannot get it setup to view on my home TV (I have to use another monitor) I have spoke to tech support after 30 plus minutes on hold several times to find out that it may not work nut the techs will not stay on the line to see if the changes we have made they tell me to make the changes and call back if it does not work. Also another down side is that the cords for the cameras already have the plugs installed and you would have to drill a massive hole in the side of your house to insert all 8 to the central unit. Other then that the system is of above average and easy to use it can easily be installed (all 8 cameras) in a couple of days and do a pretty good job of concelling the wires or do like I did and scrap the wires that came in the box and buy a roll of r59 wire and all the fittings and do a super job behind the siding and soffet installing the system..

The DVR and cameras are easy to setup. The PC, iphone, and ipad apps are much easier to setup than my previous ip camera because I did not have to fiddle with my router settings. It would be nice to have a windows phone 8 app also, right now there are third party apps but none has worked so far for me. The 960H cameras are good both during the day and also at night. After reading the manual, I still had a question regarding the motion/alarm recording so I called the toll free support. Their answering system put me on hold for about 20 minutes until I hang up. I eventually found the answer to my question by experimenting with different settings. If not for the unreachable tech support, I would have given it 5 stars.

The system itself is very nice. TWhen it comes to connecting this sysyem to your computer or laptop, the set-up instructions can be confusing and hard to find. The set up disk offers port fowarding for to your computer but you don't evem need this with the Sratus. They should make this more clear. Lorex need a better more intuitive set-up disk and website for finding installation instructions and software downloads for each specific model they sell. When you try to go to a specific web link for instructions or downloading software, it always takes you to a general web page for the unit instead of a specific page with the specific information. Tech support is good if you don't mind waiting forever on the phone.
I understand these cameras might be white in color because white is highly visible and works as a deterrent, but I don't want my home to look like fort Knox. Would be nice if I had the option of purchasing black, more discrete cameras. Also would have been nice to have the option of getting outdoor cable as the cables included are all indoor "in wall" cables. I give the product 5 stars but the Lorex web navigation for tech support & software only 2 stars.

Easy to install and was able to use previous Q-See wiring which saved a lot of time. Tech support was helpful. The Android App to access cameras does not appear to work however and Lorex needs to work on that. Q-See app works reasonably well so Lorex should be able to get theirs to work properly. Camera clarity is much improved over Q-See model that I am replacing.

Great system for the price. Best bang for buck for 8 cameras for $400 on coupon at Costco.
Very unuser friendly and unintuitive software.
Web link only works on older technology not Stratus yet system generates a link to get on web!!!
iPhone setup not bad but does not always connect. Work around is click Device Settings then Save then Live and cameras will connect.
Email notification set up a nightmare.
150 page manual/an hour wait to talk to Lorex. Not the easiest people to understand.
The software needs to be programmed by Apple not PC people. It would be so intuitive and simple and plug and play if this were the case.

I spent nearly a year looking for and deciding on which surveillance camera system to put in our home. First I needed to justify the purchase. Why was I really getting it? My ?excuse? was that I wanted to provide additional security for my home. My ?reason? is that I wanted to give my wife the opportunity to see our cats during periods of time when we weren't at home. I really wanted to put in a wireless camera system but after reading many reviews and studying up on it a bit, I decided that I should go with a wired system.

My pathway on this journey of discovery, was self-limited. I decided to only go with an item that I could actually walk into a store, see the cameras in action, and answer the questions that only this type of a process can answer. Lorex camera systems are sold at several stores, perhaps most notably Home Depot and Costco, and both of those were easy for me to get to and check out the system.

Once I'd decided on the system, and purchased it, I took it home and then spent the next two days deciding where I was going to install the cameras. Until just before I bought my system I really didn't think I needed eight cameras. I'm very glad that I did choose a system that had this many.

The set up was not really all that difficult. I set up my remote access capability first, so that it would be easier to determine the best place to install the cameras. I laid out the wires just on the floor and hooked everything up. It is a little unnerving drilling holes in your walls, but they are also quite easy to patch up afterwards. Have no difficulty in recommending this particular system, as it has been working just fine since I got it going.

Not all remote access apps are equal. The tablet that I have required a different app that the technical support people very capably were able to help me install and configure.

Easy to install and get basic system working. The issue fir an existing house is to run cables.

Most soffits are now aluminm or vinyl and in windy conditions cameras will move causing recording.

Getting the email function to work required some work and several calls to the technical support line. When you get the system se to meet your needs it is a great addition to your home security.

In my case it was possible to have a camera ficus on a basement entrance that also captured the hot water tank so we can check and be ensured no leaks are happening.

We had another brand name camera system that we bought from Costco 3 years ago. No complaints with it. We wanted to upgrade from 4 cameras to 8 and have more options. After doing research and reading all the reviews on Lorex, we decided on the ECO 4 8 camera system. Great decision!! Setup was a breeze, the clarity of the cameras are better than expected, setup to the internet a breeze as well. iPhone app is okay, it works fine, just hope they make some upgrades to the software for better usage. One complaint is having to enter the user id and password each time I want to view recordings, zoom, search, etc., directly from the DVR monitor. Takes too much time if you are in a hurry to zoom into a situation. Maybe there is a way to bypass it for quicker access?

This is my first camera system. I got the system because my property was being vandalized. The system was easy to set up. I had some trouble with the internet set up. Customer service was helpful. I'm not computer wise and I could tell the guy was getting frustrated with me, but we got everything figured out. The daytime picture is great. I can make facial recognition. The night time is less desirable. The LED's are like a spot light. I wish they were more of a flood light. The cameras pick up motion great. I'm using the motion alarm setting. Night time they must be outside of the light some times there's no visible movement, but the camera picked up some thing because there's a recording. I'm going to be installing motion flood lights later. In the mornings I watch the motion alarms in fast forward while drinking a cup of coffee.
So far I think this is a great product with some night lighting improvements. I just need to get the vandals on recording now.

I did extensive research before purchasing the Lorex surveillance system from Costco. The features included in the system and the complete package is an excellent value. The Stratus system for mobile view on my Samsung tablet was fantastic and very easy to setup.

I had difficulty setting up the system because my Linksys router was 8 years old. It would not allow me to setup a static IP address. I ordered a new wireless router and within minutes the Lorex system was operating flawlessly.

This is my first security system but it's hard to imagine a better setup for the price for what you get in terms of capability and quality. The mobile software is great and both night and day camera views are excellent. I also paired a few cameras with a microphone so with the audio it's even better. The only areas I would have expected to be betters was the dvr software interface. It just looks a bit outdated. I am still working through a remote setup with the ddns service but that is my only issue. I am hoping tech support can help me with that part.

I hired someone to wire my house due to the amount of work involved. The equipment is well made and appear to be of good quality.

The one issue I am having is that when viewing remotely or even on a computer connected to the same network as the DVR, the images are blurry and jump around a lot. They are clear on the monitor that was connected to the DVR so I know the cameras are working properly.

I waited 30 minutes on the phone for tech support on two occasions. On the first occasion, the tech was able to solve my initial setup problem in a few minutes. On the second call I asked about the poor quality on remote viewing and the tech just said that it is they way the system is and there was nothing I could do because it is normal. Several friends have systems and do not have those problems.

Im back on the phone waiting for tech support in hopes of getting someone that knows more than the last tech.

I had looked at several systems and choose Lorex after reviewing the system in the store. I purchased a package system and installed seven cameras in various locations around my house, one camera looking down on the front door so that we can monitor who is knocking at the door, this installation has worked out very well. Internet connection was simple and being able to view our security system from anywhere we have an internet connection is a real plus which gives us peace of mind. For the money, the system can't be beat and is better than I thought. The cameras are great on detail as long as they are close to the person. My front door camera is about 6 feet away from door and only 8 feet high and that range its clear to see who's at the front door.

I would give it five stars but the mobile app (android) is very buggy. FYI...if you go into the app it will 'seem' that all settings are gone...you need to force kill the app and restart the app to get your settings back. Hopefully they fix/improve their mobile apps and that would make me a very happy customer (considering the value you get)

...and yes, if you have extra money and are paying someone to install these, you should go with IP camera systems or at least run cat5e to the locations of these camera (with baluns) for future proofing.....

I really like this system even though we still only have one camera set up at this time. The software for our Android phones is kinda flakey, and doesn't work at all on my Motorola Xoom tablet, but the software for the PC is very powerful. I can't wait to get the rest of the camera's installed and hooked up!

Overall reasonable value for money, but a few disappointing aspects for me:
1) My biggest gripe is the mobile Stratus app which was supposed to be one of the most important features for my family. This thing shouldn't have gotten out of the Beta phase because I've tried it on multiple devices and have had really unstable performance. It freezes and crashes often. Sometimes it loses all my settings and I have to perform the first time setup again. The desktop app works really solidly and I've never had a problem with it. But the mobile app is terrible. I could try blame my phone, but I've tested it on 3 different devices so far with the same experience.
2) video quality isn't as good as its made out to be, even on the highest quality setting its difficult to make out facial features. When I compare the video quality shown in the website demos, its not nearly that good.
3) When I was going over the product details and I read the part about the 60ft extension cables I thought, great. But when it actually came to installing them, I realized the cable coming directly out of the camera is only about 3ft long. This means that unless you're ok with the bright yellow jacks hanging on the outside of your house, you really need to tuck those away in the room, which means your cameras have to be just beneath the room line of the house. On my house that means the cameras are much higher up than Id like them to be. What a pity they don't allow you to fit the 60ft extension cables directly to the camera.
4) I haven't been able to get the motion detector email alert system to work. I wish the instructions for setting this up were clearer and there was and email test feature that didn't require actually setting off the motion alarm to test if the email alert works too.

Its ok but not what I expected !!!! Purchased this product to replace my existing Q-See system due to multiple hardware failure for their product and lack of a user friendly interface from Q-see.

The Lorex system comes with 8 cameras and 960h, at first a great buy for the priceUSD399 on sale from Costco, however my disappointment started even before installation, the supporting documentation and quick guide are not detailed enough, the information is too general and not user friendly (if you are not familiar with the topic and terminology it's going take you lots of hours and patience to setup configure your system to your needs).

Ok once the hardware was setup, (around 11 am ) good news, a great image from the wide angle cameras, just what i wanted. Let the system running in continuous recording for all day and got disappointed again at night as the recordings looks more like a spot light than an actual nigh-time camera, just to give you an idea, the nigh-time recording from my old 480 lines camera used to show (entirely) both cars on my drive way, now with this camera, all i can see is the front and hood of one of the cards (and its not the angle of the camera).

In addition, i've just received confirmation from Lorex that this system does not support third party applications, so think about this before you buy it as the mobile app provided by Lorex lacks a lot of features compared to third party apps such as Super Cam Pro, an excellent app for remote viewing and control.

Botton line is this product its ok, but not good. Needs a lot of improvements from the documentation to the hardware.
Its ok for day recording, but definitely the cameras are not good for night recording, unless your recording is limited to a specific spot.

I was pretty happy to have gotten a Costco coupon in the mail for a discount off this system; I had been shopping for something like this for some time. When I got it home, I decided to try it out with one of the eight cameras that is included; until I could get the rest of the cameras "professionally" installed (I?ve got a friend who is going to do it for a good home cooked steak). Un-boxing the system, I was kind of impressed with how well it was packaged up, but I was initially disappointed with the one camera I took out to hook up. The cameras feel cheap and have a plastic case and mounting bracket. However, after hooking everything up, I was happy with the video quality and impressed with the infrared night vision capability. The system itself was easy to hook up and set up, almost 100% intuitively as the directions are very simple and easy to use. Once it was on and running, I downloaded the Android app from the Google Play store, and again, it was easy to set up to view the video on my phone. The user interface on my Android phone is on the simple side and requires a little of patience to work, but it works and even my wife can use it. On the downside, I installed the software on my Android Motorola Xoom tablet, and it isn?t working on that device. The shining feature is the DVR client software that came in the box to install on my computer. It is easy to use and lets you have a lot of control, remotely, of your DVR system. If you log in as an administrator, you can pretty much run the whole system just like you were sitting at the actual black box. All-in-all, I am pretty happy with this purchase and I can?t wait to get the rest of the cameras installed!

These cameras do and will allow me to see what's going on outside my house. I hired the wrong person to install them. In two days of work, I have four up, so far. I searched for an installer and was connected to THIS GUY through "word of mouth". My point, I wish Lorex had emphasized the third party installers contact information more. I don't like heights, otherwise, I could have done it with my eyes closed. More to the point.

I am a senior citizen and these cameras allow me to feel more secure inside my house. I can't wait to get the others up and really learn how the system works. I'll be joined to Lorex at the hip from now til THEN. I will say, I hope tech support will be (respectfully) patient with me and other seniors. Thank you, Lorex. And, thank you for the additional year on the warranty. Take care guys and keep watch. ;~)

This system is such a wonderful upgrade to our 7 year old system. The system was very easy to install, the manual could use a bit more detailed instructions regarding menus and functions of the system. I called tech service once regarding a clarification, not a problem and they were very nice, could not answer my question but immediately escalated me to 2nd level tech service who answered question. This is a great system and would highly recommend this product.

I've had my system up and running for three days and am totally impressed with the installation process, picture quality and ease of remote viewing. My hardest problem was locating the IOS software on the LOREX website, but tech support answered within a few minutes (I expected a longer wait) and quickly helped me register my system and walk me thru the download. The system was up and running in a few simple steps and the remote viewing was immediate. Picture quality is great in both bright sunlight as well as total darkness.
Overall, I've gotten more than I expected for the price. A great value.

I received the Costco package with the LH 150 Series DVR (LH1562001C8F) and 13 cameras very quickly: The shipment included twelve "bullet" cameras (700TVL Resolution using an advanced new 960H optimized Image SensorCVC 7711) and one PTZ camera (700TVL Resolution using an advanced new 960H optimized Image Sensor). The cost of the system - reasonable - around $1,000 with tax.

The system appears to be good quality, although I am still in the process of installing it now. I took the time to perform some runtime testing in my basement, hooking up the DVR, cameras, etc., and connecting through various internet methods (iPhone, iPad and various Apple Mac products) before installing and all seems to be working flawlessly. I can't say that all of the instructions or menu items in the interface programs are completely intuitive; however, all seems to be working well. Running all of the wiring (I didn't want to deal with the continuing maintenance issues of replacing batteries on a wireless system) is the biggest issue - I'm not going to say that this is trivial - it isn't. But, I knew what I was getting and it has met those needs. The night vision is excellent. The menu interface is OK - not great, but sufficient that anybody remotely adept in technological wiring should not have any problem in installing. The interface in setting up the recording and remote viewing could be improved, but is sufficient for what I need.

Trying to figure out the optimum locations of the cameras (as well as determining a location of the central DVR that could, in and of itself, be stolen in a burglary) have proved significant; however, that would be the case with any security DVR system. I will reiterate - the night vision seems to be excellent. The setup should be within the ability of people that are at least somewhat IT adept and overall, I am very pleased with the product. The connection to Apple products (iPhone, iPad and Mac) was amazingly simple - very impressed on that aspect.

Overall, very impressed with the product and very happy. I will say that your feedback forum really does suck, tough. But again, this review is about the product, and I am very happy with the actual product.

impressed with the quality of the pictures and the night vision.
I called the Lorex Technical support people several times for internet connection
and they will not quit until you are up and running. The are the best !

Before this Lorex system, I had a professional install a single camera system

the Lorex pictures are so much better.

I originally purchased a competitors 960H system. After fighting with the competitor's video cameras for 2 weeks adjusting the colors to a less than acceptable level, I discovered the Lorex ECO4 system. The Lorex image was sharp and the colors were true, right out of the box, without adjustments.

The remote client application is very nice, allowing full control of the DVR. I was able to place the DVR in an inconspicuous location without needing to also dedicate a monitor to the system. Remote client application setup was fast and easy.

I am enjoying the 4-camera display with the Android app, but I am a little disappointed that when I rotate the phone, the display does not rotate, you must view the app in portrait mode. It also doesn't properly scale the images to maintain the 16:9 aspect ratio of the cameras.

I would recommend the ECO4 system to family and friends. It is priced well, and is feature packed. So far it has lived up to my expectations and exceeded some in quality and functionality.

After going to Frys and compairing systems that were similar, Fry's wanted $749.00 for a system with the same specs that Costco had for $499.00.

I purchased this system from Costco and had it up and running within 3 hours. I was able to hookup 4 cameras so far, but will have to order two 120 foot cables to get two more hooked up, wish they would have included an converter to use the existing cables to be able to extend them to 120 feet, but still a great system with the extensions.

Please note when purchasing this package, this is a wired system, so all camera's have to make it back to the DVR for this to work, so make sure you have a central location and access to get to the DVR. I had to drill a hole into the stucco of my house and fead the cables through into my office, not hard to do, but just be aware.

Only complaint I have is that I wish the software was able to set a time period to send motion activated pictures. Since we are generally home around 5pm and waling in and out of the house, I am getting tons of pictures e-mailed to me during that period of time. But this is a small price to pay for a great sense of security.

I would definitely recommend this package to anyone who is looking for some extra security in their home. Also connecting to my iPad, laptop and Android phone was never easier, and the utility for setting up port forwarding on my router was awesome, now I can log into my DDNS site and see my camera's on any device that has an internet connection.

Awesome product, well done sir!

I like everything about package except these two things-

1. Costco took a week to get this to me and their site promised 1-2 business days.
2. When the unit arrived the Hard Drive in the DVR was not secured. Instead the HD was rattling around in the DVR and there were 4 loose screws. The box was "factory sealed".

So at first I was dubious. But two of us installed it in 4 hours and it fired right up. Trying to set it up with the included mouse and monitor takes some patience but once you get connected to it with a PC you realize how flexible it is.

I was impressed with the automatic port forwarding software included. I you have not tried to a port a modem/router before or have no idea what that even means, this takes the techno phobia out of it and does it for you.

Remember with this set up, you can monitor your site from a remote location via the internet thanks to Lorex.

Glad I got it. Adds to peace of mind for a property that has been broken into 5 times in 28 years.

Viewing from my laptop today from across the country I am able to stay in the loop of the business without being there. I did have to call into the product help line and they answered the phone right away were able to help me with my issue and were very nice about it. Bought this system at Costco and had it working with the cameras mounted in a day. The initial set-up worked well with no problems getting all cameras on my TV using the HMDI input. Downloaded the Stratus Client app on to my PC from the provided CD. All went well. Downloaded the Android Stratus Client app from Play Store on our Galaxy S3, S4 and two tab 2's. Put in the required information and password and all 4 devices came up immediately. I was not happy with the quality of the video on my phones and tabs so called tec support. They advised me to increase the FPS and Bitrate in the Remote Settings. I now have very good video quality on all remote devices. I increased the FPS and Bitrate to max on all cameras. The night vision could be better as it only lights up a small area of the cameras field. Over all, this is an excellent system for the money.

The setup was pretty straightforward but we are still having some issues. Remote access doesn't seem to work outside of our network and we keep on getting different answers when we called tech support. The firmware on the DVR seems buggy as we are currently unable to playback recorded videos at a faster speed (seek). One of our channels has a lot of video noise and we may have to send this unit back. Hold time for level 1 tech support is usually 15-30 minutes. One time we were transferred to level 2 support and gave up after being on hold for 1.5 hours.

On the positive side, I do like the fact that the camera housings are white, which makes them less obvious. It would've been nice if they included white cables instead of the standard black ones. We will probably order white cables from eBay and swap them out.

The included cameras are *very* wide angle which cover big areas but lack details. Depending on your application, you may want to replace some of the cameras with narrower-angle cameras so you can see more details.

During the past year, I've been looking for a surveillance system for my home, checking out several brands (Q-See, Swann, Night Owl, etc). When I saw this system (LH150 ECO4 Series) priced at $499, with 960H recording, eight 700 TVL cameras and 130/90 ft night vision, it was what I've been looking for. The setup was easy and the result was great. The most time consuming part was running the cables. I'm still playing with it to learn all the features and possibilities. The web site was informative and phone help was very helpful and pleasant. I am now considering adding a PTZ camera. Very satisfied so far.

Purchased the unit early September. Installation was easy. Two cameras need to be returned to Costco, night vision poor compared to to other cameras from the system. Had to call customer service three times to get the remote viewing working on my laptop and android cell phone. Took a long time to get service on the line but the problems were finally fixed. Biggest complaint is that the outside cameras are constantly sending false pictures with no motion detected. This was the main reason I purchased the system. Only had one false email from one of the inside cameras so far. Tech people could not help resolve the issue with the false motion emails. Not sure if I will return it. Other than that, the system works pretty well. Night vision on most of the cameras is astonishing, both indoors and out.

This system has specs superior to anything else we reviewed, and we had good luck with the a Lorex system we purchased in 2007, so decided to order it. We purchased the 16 channel 13 camera version from Costco.com. After receiving and setting up, the DVR went completely dead after being on 1 hour. After waiting a long time for support on the phone, they agreed to replace the unit, but said it would take over a week to get the unit, even though we offered to pay the shipping for next day. Upon receipt of a new unit, it has functioned fine and as described, my only concerns are the wait times to get to support, and the lack of being able to get a problem unit replaced quickly.

Have worked in electronics/telecommunications for about 30 years. Been a skeptic about wireless video systems. I set up a 3 camera system with DVR in our church. The setup of the system as a whole was pretty straight-forward. Adjusting the camera was easy (brightness, contrast etc.) and was content with picture on the DVR monitor. Thought resolution would be better & clear considering the close proximity of the cameras to the receivers. (farthest 40 ' ) Had a problem with one camera "locking" into white-out that couldn't reset even after adjusting. Honestly not real happy with picture quality (even after adjusting cameras) on the log-in website you create. Picture image is poor and very light compared to monitor attached to DVR and I know it is not the network connection or bandwidth. Really expected better resolution as a whole. I consider the system I bought an average product. Not really dis-satisfied, but .......?

I purchased this system from Costco about a month or so ago. I have so far got 4 cameras out of the 8 installed. They provide decent footage for the most part. The night vision is not as clear but still ok.

My biggest issue is getting the DDNS setup correctly. So far I'm not able to view my cameras from outside of my home network. I'll be calling customer support today to see if they can help.

We chose the Lorex 150 ECO4 Series for our home. There was a small learning curve for the firmware update. Tech Support was available and helpful. Camera installation was flawless. Our family has enjoyed participating in camera location. With 8 cameras, we have a broad range of coverage. The 700 TVL cameras offer clear pictures on our HD TV. All controls seem self-explanatory. The 1 TB of memory will offer many days of recordings. PC and Smartphone set-up was point and click. Good product. We will recommend it to family and friends.

The cameras, dvr and networking are great. The cameras have a much wider field of view than I expected. The clarity of the camera images are all that I would expect for a security system. Though I am a complete novice, the installation, other than crawling through an attic on a hot day, was simple.

However, the documentation for the installation and networking leaves much to be desired. The included software CD is mostly sales material - finding the install program is a search. The ECO Stratus App is nowhere to be found in the IPad app store - it is in the IPhone app store only (although that app does works on the IPad) - but the included documentation doesn't mention that the app is only found in the IPhone app store.

Recently purchased this system. Camera installation was easy and they came online immediately. System connectivity was challenging and you need to invest hours to reach a live person through tech support. Once level 2 called me back he was able to resolve the issue in less than one hour. For a home system the cameras are very nice. Overall for the price it is a nice system.

We purchased this ECO4 DVR with 8 cameras about a week ago to replace our Live SD9 wireless system after researching several manufacturers. We've had good experience with Lorex products as well as their customer and technical support in the past and this new camera system was what we were looking for at a very reasonable price. It took two days to install the cables/cameras and once we plugged it all in, it was great. It's everything that we expected. Great color and good night vision as well. One of the best features is the way you review the recordings. The system is easy to use, just need to go through the menus a couple times to become familiar with all the options. Having the ability to adjust the motion alarm sensitivity from 1 to 8 is also a great option that we didn't have on our wireless system.

The Client Software for PC needed to be downloaded from the Lorex website. It was very easy to install and worked great with many features.

The Android App worked flawlessly on our Asus Transformer tablet, however we haven't been able to make it work on our Toshiba Thrive tablet.

We gave it 5 stars for all of its features and user-friendliness.

I have had nothing but problems trying to hook the security up to my Mac. I have called and called Lorex help. I have even tried contacting them through e-mail with no success. I set up the camera with a computor monitor. I could not get to the menu screen I thought it may be the computor. So I went out and bought a monitor. Yes It took say 15 minutes but I did finally get it t open up a menu.
Problem next was the default pass word would not work.
Which means the system doesn't work either because no one will call me back to help me so I am stuck and frusterated.
It make for the product usless!!!!!

I bought this system on the recommendation of a professional security system installer. I did not do the camera install, left that to the pros, but the use and other feature setup of the system was very easy. The clarity of the picture and color rendition is amazing. I have used the playback, conversion of recording to AVI files, remote access on a laptop and iPhone, with everything working as expected. I am a little disappointed that the remote access does not have the ability to access all the same system settings available directly on the DVR, This is not a deal-breaker, but it would be nice for all the features to be available remotely, since you still need to log in with a password.

I would recommend this product to anyone looking for a very user-friendly surveillance system.

I purchased this product for home use due to its with good reviews. However, the start of the process was very disappointing. After my purchase at Costco, I decided to bench test the system prior to installation. To my surprise, after many attempts, I could not get the menu to appear on my Dell digital monitor and none of the front panel buttons seemed to work. After calling tech support (not available evenings or weekends) and waiting nearly 15 minutes to connect, the tech ran me through the standard troubleshooting menu (20 mins) then passed be to a level 2 tech to figure out the problem. After another 14 minutes on hold, I disconnected and returned the product to Costco. After bench testing the second unit, I encountered the same problem, so I took a chance and hooked the DVR up to a different monitor and got the menu and all start-up functions. The problem was my HDMI to Digital input converter adapter that connected the DVR to the monitor. When I connected it straight to an HDMI port on the other monitor, everything worked fine. This may have been the case on the first unit, but the poor response from tech support caused me to return the product.

The product was easy to install. Certain instructions were unclear. I had to call for support. However, the technical support was extremely hard to get. It took at least half an hour to talk to someone, the first time I called. The second time, I gave up after more than an hour. Because of unsatisfactory support, I cannot give the product a good rating.
I got this email today Aug 31. However, the ad says If I perform the rating by Aug 30th, the warranty for the product shall be extended to two years. I hope, the offer still stands.

Called them. on hold for 20 mins. talked with a person who i have to give all of my information to again. she could not correct the problem. forwarded to level 2. they will call you in 24 to 48 hours. after no call for two days called again, on hold 20 mins, this time i am transferred to level 2. 30mins later on hold no one picks up. so transferred to hold and forgotten. took system down and re-packaged. worthless customer service. returning unit to cost co. will file a complaint with them about supporting such worthless companies. do not buy or install anything from these people. no stars.

Overall, very happy with the product so far. All basic functions seem to work well and day / night image quality is pretty good. Only major complaint is the Android app - ECO Stratus. It's very easy to set up but only works correctly about 50% of the time. It looses the DVR settings at least once or twice every day and crashes frequently. So far, the ECO Stratus phone app seems to be the only weak link in the system. It needs a major update ASAP !!

I installed the system 2 days ago and so far I am quite pleased with its performance. The installation of 8 cameras took an entire day but was well worth it. The ease of setup of the dvr on a scale from 1 to 10 was 7. The clarity of the cameras during the day is outstanding. The night vision is good on 6 of the 8 cameras. I live in the city and between my house and the neighbors houses are quite dark and the IR does not perform adequately without some ambient light. I am having difficulties setting up remote viewing on my ipad. I was hoping to avoid a call to technical support but unfortunately I will have to relent. Overall I am very happy with the product and would recommend it for any residence or small business.

Written Monday Aug 26, 2013:
Installed as a direct replacement for an older system from another manufacturer about a month ago. The quality of the picture from the cameras was better than my previous security system. I was surprised to find that a 700TVL (TV Lines) system only has a maximum of 480 lines in the recorded picture. Shouldn't it have closer to 700? Another strangeness is the proportion of the picture - 2 to 1, not the more familiar 4 to 3 of standard TVs and not the 16:9 of HD.

The provided software for running on has quite a few flaws. Importantly, it does not remember settings when used, neither in a web page nor in the Lorex Stratus Client software. The software to control the camera has some features missing. Playback only allows up to 8 times normal speed. There is no way to zoom in on the time-line to make it easier to select the point to start playback. Locating the recording of a particular recording is tedious.

Sensitivity ranges from 1 to 8. Is 1 more sensitive or less sensitive than 8 (I haven't found any difference, so far regardless of setting)? Lots of little confusions and annoyances.

So far the email feature has not worked for me (still waiting for a response to an email sent on Friday). I set it up in several different ways so that when an alarm is generated or motion is detected it will send an email. I set it up using my own domain settings. It did not work. I set it up using my ISP settings and it didn't work. I tried with and without SSL. I also used the "default" service. Have not receive any email even though I drove and walked through the camera's view on several occasions. It does record the movement as an alarm on the hard drive and search reveals them - but not as individual recordings. I set the Schedule under Record for 24 hours for Continuous, Motion and Alarm (what's the difference between Motion and Alarm?).

Motion is detected even when plants sway in the wind or the sun goes behind a cloud. Why not use the built in infrared to prevent the false positives?

Overall a good effort - not 5-stars though. Yet!

Security is important. Being able to view from Smart Phone or computer is nice

Daytime: Color quality good. Rather wide angle (23' across with camera about 10' away).

Evening/night: Black and white and the has better image if not camera is not placed behind window due to reflection from glass window. 1 camera flickers sometimes at night, but not during the day.

SMARTPHONE SET HASSLE: We had to call Lorex for assistance - was more difficult than expected.

RATING EXPLANATION: Long time on hold when I called Lorex (2 different days). Can't figure out how to get sound to work. It says: *Audio capable cameras (not included) are required for audio recording. May need time to get use to it

PRICE $500 at Costco + we also purchased a 23" monitor
OVERALL: Would recommend for low end system - better than nothing.

You can't beat the price of this system, 499.00 from costco. I did a lot of research on all different brands and this was by far the best deal. The picture quality was excellent. Installation was easy. I mounted all the cameras under my eves and ran the wires through my attic then, down to the dvr. I did have a little issue with the remote viewing on my laptop and android phone. The directions could be better. the part about getting an IP after you register for your warranty. That should be step one. Everything works like it should. Dvr is quiet also.

I enjoy techie type projects and I offered to put cameras in my aging in-laws home in Florida--I had seen the Lorex bundled systems at Costco and it looked like a great deal --I have cameras in 2 other homes that cost more and have lower camera resolution--this system worked out great--I did try to short cut the set up instructions and had to call technical support for some help--they were very polite and helpful in solving my self inflicted issue! All of the adult children in the family are able to log in from remote locations around the country and check on their parents now-we have the application on our laptops, iphones and ipads. --I would recommend this system for your residence--the price and content are excellent--Installation instructions are clear--you just need to follow them and have a little "techie" in you or a phone nearby to call support

I had to purchase a new system because my old lorex DVR gave out only after a year. This new system has 8 vs. 4 cameras and offers a wider viewing option. set up was easy and a lot faster than the first camera. No monitor was included and of course more money. the camera feels like cheap plastic and do not think they will last more than 1-2 years in the northeast area.
Cameras are OK; Customer service for Lorex is one of the worst in the tech industry. It takes about 45 min just to get through to a rep and then the song and dance comes on.

In my case it was easier to get a new system then deal with the red tape, outsource Consumer service

1. PC/DVR Setup - The paper and online instructions are not very good, leaving a lot of guesswork. Took several extra hours of trial and error for setup.
2. Remote Access - Still can't get remove access. Got on once and other attempts end up with "URL not found" or session timeout.
3. DVR - The DVR seems to be working very well. However it would be nice if the system were compatible with a real keyboard.
4. Cameras - With 8 cameras in the sysem, you would think they would include at least 2 cables over 60 feet. I needed to purchase 3 extra 100 foot cables. The night vision seems to be limited to 40 feet max on distance instead of 130 feet claimed. The motion detection also seems to be limited to 25 or 30 feet. The resolution on the cameras is OK. But I doubt if police could identify anyone unless they were within 10 or 15 feet of the camera.
5. Monitor and Mouse - Since the system doesn't come with a monitor, I purchased a KVM switch allowing my to use my PC and the DVR on with the same monitor and mouse. Would be nice if the DVR had a real Keyboard connection.
6. Price - For the price, this seems to be a good system. But one might consider paying extra for HD or Digital instead.

I have done extensive research and have been in the market to purchase a surveillance system
to install myself for about a year now. I must say this system caught my attention when i saw it at my local Costco. The features included in the system and the complete package far compliments the price paid. The Stratus system for mobile view on my IPhone was absolutely fantastic and very easy to get going in minutes. However, i did have an issue viewing the system on the web. Instructions are not clear on the process of getting that set up. One call to Lorex Customer Service took care of that issue though, and the representatives don't let you end the call till your fully comfortable with the system and have addressed every concern.
The 960 H cameras are an asset to the system, of course not comparable to the HD ones but for the price point these do much justice. Installation isn't a breeze but if you take your time you can complete a professional installation.

I previously had purchased a Lorex Security system (one camera and intercom system) and that is still going 2 years strong so i have much faith in the Lorex brand.

I bought this for home use simply to keep an eye on my house an property. I got this system at Costco. I spent hours installing it an got the DVR box hooked up to the internet. DVR box did an update an would not power back on, so I exchanged the DVR box for a different one an it updated properly. Small problem I guess. I was a little disappointed with how difficult the DVR box was to operate. The instructions don't explain the functions or settings very good, unless you are an expert at Lorex. After messing around with it for a couple days it starts getting easier to use. However I may never fully understand all the settings, time will tell. I have it set to record an highlight the motion throughout the day. It don't catch all of the motion but if you adjust the sensitivity high it was just trip with leaves blowing. Bugs are attracted at night with the cameras night vision lights an trip it all the time. Bugs trip it in the day as well. It don't pick up cats very well but it picks up plants blowing in the wind, go figure. Cameras show a pretty good picture, at night isn't too bad as well obviously you cant see as much at night. I have nothing to compare this system to so it is hard to rate. Over all it is doing what I wanted. Using this on a smartphone is cake to set up and also cake to hook up the DVR to the internet. Only pain is running all the wire an the connectors are thick, your looking at about a 3/4in hole to run the wires through, maybe 5/8 if you are patient. I'am only writing this review to get an extra year warranty, todays electronics you never can tell how long they will last. I would rather give it 3.5 stars but I guess Ill go with 4.

My house is small, 1500 sq ft but is on 2 floors. I only installed 1 camera inside and 6 outside. I hid the wires in trim and ran under the house and back up into a cabinet. I felt this would hide the DVR a little better. This took about 2 days. The 2 cameras close to the over the air TV antenna would cut off the signal for the local channels. They were about 4ft apart. I had to install a new antenna higher up and away from the cameras, because the cameras were right where I wanted them. The new antenna solved the problem. Everything is working well now, but downloads and firmware updates for mac are hard to find or not available. This installation is not for someone without basic knowledge and home repair experience, or get some home repair or wireguys type assistance.

I would buy this system again, the cameras are working very well. I wish that there was some other accessories such as light, thermostat and other home control from remote locations. I can solve this buy using another system.

We are very impressed with the quality of the video from the LOREX cameras . . . literally generations ahead compared to the output of surveillance cameras 5 years ago (the last time we were doing our research on CCTV systems). Set-up and operation of the DVR is simple and straightforward. What really impresses my wife is the ability and convenience of being able to remotely monitor our system thru her iPhone and the LOREX Stratus app. We needed assistance with opening dialog ports in our Airport Express router, and LOREX tech support was able to help us. As soon as that was set-up, we were able to view our surveillance cameras on our smartphones. We have only had our system up and running for a few weeks, but everything looks good so far. This is a great product and affordably priced to boot. Thanks LOREX!

The quality of the image is impressive (clear), anyone is visible even with the night vision, the DVR is silent, installation on my notebook 2 was extremely easy, they also have excellent customer support technicians which made the installation a breeze. I recommend this product one hundred percent.

This is the second surveillance system I'm setting up manufactured by Lorex and sold through Costco. The customer support, problem resolution, and product quality have all been good. I won't hesitate to buy a third system.

Takes a while to run the wires, especially when you have to go long distances. But having a video record of all motion, and being able to reliably view live and recorded events via the Internet is huge. It would be great if they made one for the car! Obviously wouldn't be motion activated, but having a record of all driving time would catch some interesting events and be useful in case of an accident.

I was a little worried about installing this system myself but found it all to be simple to get working. When I got to the point where I wanted to see my cameras on my laptop and on my droid I expected trouble but found that it just worked. I used the Stratus setup to very quickly setup my access without needing to understand anything about networking.
The app on my droid is fantastic, it is very comforting to be able to check on the house anytime from anywhere and the email alerts work to let me know if any motion happens in the cameras field of view so I can check all cameras to confirm everything is okay.

Just had this system installed. Pictures are clear - a little disappointed in the distance limitation of the cameras. SPent a great deal of time trying to get to view the system on our i phones and computers. Currently have a MAC OSX Version 10.5.8 and I cannot download a driver for my system to view the live cameras. Need a download that is compatible with my MAC.
Works fine on windows based programs.

I have done tons of research prior to purchasing this product. I looked at many different systems you can think of prior to making my decision. I bought the system and had an issue with the HDMI not working properly. I called Tech. Services and they were very helpful. They told me to return the system and have it replaced, there must be something wrong with the HDMI port. I don't know how people on here could give them a bad rating. They were nothing but GREAT. After showing this system to several neighbors, my neighbor two doors from my house went out and bought the same system. We mounted and hooked up his system in a few hours. We showed both systems to other neighbors and three more are being purchased. We will be putting up signs of 24 Hour Surveillance on the street signs entering our neighborhood.

This system has 700 TVL cameras and they do a GREAT job and we are happy with how they look, but I have seen the HD Cameras and let me tell you..... AMAZING. Maybe one day I will upgrade 4 of the cameras. All in All, this is an OUTSTANDING system and GREAT Customer Service.

I purchased the system from Costco for $499.99, and it included the Eco 4 DVR with 8 960H cameras and 8 60 foot cables, plus the other accessories (mouse, remote, etc.). The picture quality is very good and I am happy with my purchase. Getting the security system setup on my network with the remote access (Mac & iPhone) was relatively easy. Some of the user interface could be a little more clear. Example-changing to motion recording, it would be better to have the other rows labeled. It was not intuitive to use the second row for motion and the third row for alarms.

Installation has been hard for me because of shape and design of my house. I need to purchase a few longer cables and maybe try changing two cameras out for wireless ones. I only have three cameras going now. I am a little concerned about the wireless camera reviews, hope the system will continue to meet my expectations.

Bought it from Costco last week. Easy set up but takes a time to configure it. Email server set up is easy. I can not see it over the internet now but will try it one more time.

Overall satisfy it.

Great system, priced right. My wife and I were able to install the 8 cameras and hide all the wires relatively easily over a two day period. I had a little trouble with the CD downloading, but eventually I got the system up and running. Viewing from the cell phone is easy and a great way to monitor the cameras while we are out and about. Viewing from the internet is proving to be a little tricky, but i'm sure its something simple (I had it working, now the URL isn't being found). Overall i would recommend this system for home or business.

The quality and built of the cameras exceeded my expectation. However, my harddrive was not recording after install, and I was on hold for 1 hour with tech support after the person who set it up was talking with them before. They formated the hdd and it is fine now, we shall see.

However, I love the quality and the fact you can set to motion record only so it does not fill up the hdd fast...and you can access from anywhere

Bought this at Costco because it stated you can network it to your iPhone. Was pretty straightforward to set up and video quality seems to work fine. The firmware was outdated but the program located and updated the firmware with no trouble at all.

Discovered that Cox Communications blocks port 80 so you need to find another port, port 443 worked for me. From there I was able to view the feeds from any internet conncected computer PROVIDED it was INTERNET EXPLORER. You can use Firefox but you need to attache a I.E. Tab 2 plugin/extension for it to work.

The only downside, and this is a big one, None of the Lorex apps for iPhones work!!! It is supposed to be easy to get it to work but for some reason it is not able to communicate with the DVR. I tried using both the Login type "Device ID" and "IP/Domain" options, with neither one working. I did have the DDNS working properly so I'm not sure what is causing it to not connect.

I'm giving 3 stars due to the disappointing iPhone app which was a big reason for purchasing this unit. If it ever gets to work the I would give it a higher rating.

So far I am very pleased with this product. I purchased the system from Costco for $499.99, and it included the Eco 4 DVR with 8 960H cameras and 8 60 foot cables, plus the other accessories (mouse, remote, etc.). The picture quality is very good. It doesn't compare to the mega pixel cameras you'll find on some of the newer ip based NVR systems, but I'd have had to spend about $2000 to get a system like that. Six of the cameras are mounted under the eaves of my house and two of them are indoors. All the cables are run through the attic and through a access port in the ceitling down to the DVR along with a CAT5e cable for the network features and a 60 ft HDMI cable (w/ Redmere technology from monoprice). The HDMI cable runs back up through the ceiling, down through a wall and out to a 55" LCD TV.

The feature set of the DVR is really nice. I can use the included software to access the DVR on my PC and view the live streams over the local network if I log in via the DVR's assigned IP address. If I am away from home, I can use the Lorex Stratus app on my iPhone or iPad to view a lower bitrate substream. The remote view is also viewable from a PC running Internet Explorer, although this feature requires an IE extension to be installed. If you are allowed to install extensions (I am not able to do so at work), you can view your feeds.

The only issue I've had with the system (and thus the 4 stars instead of 5) is that on one of the cameras the gasket between the black bezel surrounding the lens and LEDS was broken and protruding from the casing. Since I believe this impacts its weather rating, I used that camera indoors. That particular camera seems to have a bit of noise in the picture, while the other seven cameras are crystal clear. You have to look closely to notice, so it wasn't worth me boxing everything back up and taking it back to Costco.

Overall I am very pleased with this product and I would definitely purchase it again. Lorex seems to invest quite a bit of time making sure that there is plenty of information available for thier products. I was able to download the complete users manual from this site before purchasing the system. There are also numerous videos on YouTube from Lorex covering a variety of thier products. This is a safe buy, I doubt you'll be disappointed.
