2. Optimized when used with 960H compatible cameras. DVR is backwards compatible and supports different camera inputs: standard resolution and 960H.
3. High definition recording not supported, recording resolution is limited to a maximum of 960x480 per channel. Image quality and resolution is dependent on the type of camera connected to the DVR.

I have to say, I have been in IT for 17 years and I have supported many clients over those years. A great deal of them have had camera systems that I have had to, at one point or another, had to support. So when it came time to get one for my own home I thought I knew what to get. But, I am one of those types that has to do his due diligence. The more I searched the more I kept coming back to Lorex. The features are the same as the super high end machines but the prices are way more affordable. The setup is as easy as can be, the interface is mostly intuitive, a few things in odd places but still very simple to use. Setting up DynDNS for outside my firewall access was all of a quick sign up and it was ready to use in about an hour once the address populated. Really a great system, cameras are great in low/no light, camera sensitivity adjustments are spot on and they even let you send yourself email alerts through their servers!! No other company I have dealt with offered that!! I will be ordering more cameras, alert sensors and an additional Hard Drive very soon. I am very happy with my Lorex!! I have referred several people to them already.

So far my experience has been positive; a definite improvement compared to Swann. My DVR was easy to set up, and picture quality of the 960H was noticeably better over the D1 of my previous device, using the same 700tvl cameras I already had installed. Everything worked great at first with the Eco Stratus app on my Android device running 5.1, and after setting up DDNS I was able to view remotely. Then the next day, remote view stopped working. I believe the issue was how the DVR communicates with the DDNS server. After trying various port forwarding configs, I kept enabling/disabling DDNS until the system said "update successful". Remote viewing worked again after that. I'll keep my fingers crossed.

Though the cameras seem to provide a decent picture, the plastic housing feels cheap, but I understand that's how I was able to acquire them at such a low price-point. Time will tell how durable they are to heat and humidity. Overall, I am fairly satisfied with my purchase.

After about 6 months of use, the network interface began to lock up - device unreachable. To clear, I had to power reset the DVR. This happened about once a month. I also had to reformat the hard drive, because the DVR become very slow when the Hard Drive's storage capacity reached about 60%. Then, at 1 year and 1 month, the hard drive failed. Perhaps the hard drive was affecting the DVR's network interface, but I cannot be certain. I contacted Lorex and they would not honor a warranty replacement for the DVR or a new hard drive. I was told to contact the manufacturer to get a replacement hard drive. Interesting enough, the hard drive is a 3TB Western Digital Purple drive designed for surveillance. My brother has a Night Owl DVR and his DVR's Hard Drive failed too, it turned out to be a 2TB Western Digital Purple drive only lasted 6 months. You would think a drive designed for surveillance would at least last its 3 year warranty. I don’t think I’ll be purchasing another Lorex system, based on their negative customer service.

I purchased the LH160 Echo series with 3 wired cameras and 3 wireless cameras. I am very impressed with the images from both cameras. I am especially impressed with the wireless. Their range is really good in spite of the difficulties we have in this house with wireless reception. We were able to take a camera out about 200 ft and still get good images, but we are opting for wired at the longer distances that we need. I like the wireless so much, I may get a few more for around the house. Once you get over how great the cameras are, you realize that the DVR is a real pain. There are 176 pages of instructions that sometimes aren't really helpful (on the web site, not in a booklet). After struggling to set things up for half a day, I broke down and called tech support. I did have a long wait to reach someone, but I understand why. The tech was so helpful and even took remote control of my computer to help. He struggled with the system for about 1.5 hours. He showed us wonderful things that can be done, like live viewing our camera images from our cell phones. He never was able to set up the system to send email alerts, in spite of 3 different set ups. Several times he put me on hold so he could confer with other techs about the problem. I'm not familiar with these systems, nor am I a computer genius, so I don't know how I would do this on my own. Don't know why, but 12 hours later, neither of our cell phones could connect to the system and a lot of the neat things that the tech had set up, had stopped working. I'm dreading the next round with tech support because I know that it's going to be another hour on the phone. I have a feeling it's the software and I'll be returning the DVR, If we can ever get this to do all the wonderful things Lorex says it can, this will be a great home security system, but this shouldn't be so hard to set up.

This is my second system from lorax and my only wish is that the mounting bases were uniform so new holes didn't need to be made. It can be difficult to make contact with customer service at times with long periods of waiting. I had one bad camera and I'm currently working with Lorax for replacement. As for the system it is great and it doesn't bother me about the 1 out of 16 cameras is having a problem. Lorax has always made things right in the past and I'm sure they will again.

It worked for about two days and went belly up.My experience with the Tech was very positive and hopefully Lorex will get me my new DVR to me quickly. That's the only reason I gave it a 3 star. I don't understand why Lorex has to call me back to get the new DVR released for shipment. Maybe it's a trust thing with their techs.

Everything works as expected. The negatives are 1. Everytime power is cut from DVR,you have to push 0 three times on remote to get mouse to work and you have to reset the time/date. No internal memory? 2. Concerning the Android app, I travel a lot and everytime that I turn my phone back on, I have to reassign the cameras. Very annoying.

Just installed DVR only within the last week. Easy setup. Clear instructions. Quick results. Installed remote monitoring on Android, iPhone and iPad devices with fast, good results. Can now monitor cameras miles from home base. Did not buy complete system because I already have cameras and wiring. For best results you need an HD camera, HD monitor and an HD Dvr. I have some HD cameras and on them the increased quality of the image is obvious. I'll get more HD cameras in the future

Decent system for the price. Camera quality is great in daylight and within range; night time quality OK - not great. We have 6 wireless cameras positioned outside on our house. The system was very easy to setup & cameras were easy to pair. We received one camera that was DOA; called customer service & they shipped out a camera the same day (Thursday) & received on Tuesday. iPad & iPhone setup was a breeze, MAC install took a bit more time but I eventually got it to work.

Suggested Improvements:
Regarding the electrical cords for cameras: I like it that the cameras blend in with the trim on my house but in some places, those black electrical cords stick out like a sore thumb. Should make electrical cords the same color as the cameras or give an option of black or white.

System Interface: iPad and/or iPhone interface should have more functionality. Using the mouse on the TV monitor to enter info and maneuver through the different menus is very tedious. Would like to be able to change setup info on the iPad and/or iPhone.

I just installed this LH160 Eco Series (16 Cams, 16 Channel DVR system). So far I like this system. I needed the help of my friend to install the cameras and run the lines up through the soffit into our attic and then down the extra bedroom closet ceiling where I'm housing the DVR and all the cables running through a 3" PVC pipe and then connecting the DVR with a HDMI cable to the HDTV in the room for extra monitoring. I used 12" drop ceiling or hanging wire to run up through the holes we drilled in the soffit to the attic and then made the necessary connections from the camera to the provided 60' cables. So far the iphone app and iPad app work well in viewing live and backed up footage. I needed help gettng the email notifications setup so I called Lorex Tech support at 1-877-755-6739 and they were quick to take control of my computer via Bombgard software and made the necessary changes to get it all set up. Now I need to work on adjusting the sensitivity level so I don't get bombarded with email notifications. This may take some time to fine tweak the system. Overall, I'm very happy with the added security this have provided to my life.

Cameras are bigger than my old 8camera system. Great because the dvr brings vga, hdmi and bnc connections. Your main monitor is the vga. The hdmi and bnc will show all the cameras ad are unable to change configuration. I think it is a great quality for the price. This is the 3rd system with Lorex I have had, I upgraded to this system because I outgrew my 8system one, even though I think it was easier to playback then this 16 channel system. I just have to get use to it. Another with flir setup is really simple. I have delt with lorex tech support for years, but I have to say they have gotten so much better. I no longer wait for 1.5 hours they have answer my calls within less than 5 minutes. I guess they also got new teck people because they are fast and know exactly what they need to do.

We just finished building our retirement home and I had mentioned to my wife that we really should get the things we wanted with this new home. Certainly an alarm system and good locks were the things that we initially considered, but the thing that really gave us peace of mind is our Lorex Camera system. My wife was a bit concerned at first, as she thought she would not be able to work the system. Once we started playing with it however, we were surprised at how easy the system is to work and maintain. The quality of the picture is great and the recording options are fantastic. We just love the fact that we can view our system from our tablet or PC, from anywhere in the world. I wish had installed a system like this in our old home. Thanks Lorex, for the peace of mind and ability to be there, even when we are not.

Awesome surveillance system. I went with a bigger system (16 cameras and 2 TB and 1 PTZ) camera. I have no complaints. The PTZ is awesome. The only thing, the PTZ needs to be placed at a high point to take advantage of the zoom. I have a huge backyard, so it really comes in handy. I especially like the email alert feature. I now get alerts when our neighborhood bear starts going through our trash. I recommend this system to anyone.

This is our first Lorex product. I was hesitant to buy after reading all the bad reviews in regard to the long customer service wait time. I called 3 or 4 times during set up and customer service was excellent. The wait time was always about the same, only 5 minutes and they were very polite and helpful. We have had the system for 2 months and so far we love it .

This is a really great system. The images from the cameras are extremely crisp and clear and the night vision is improved with additional IR illuminators. The DVR is far superior to the older Edge series. Remote connectivity is very easy with the Stratus Connectivity, and even the more involved setup is fairly easy especially with the Lorex Port Forwarding Wizzard. I had my iphone connected in about 2 minutes. Great system, great value.

My husband and I just finished getting all our cameras up and running. The setup was very easy once all the outlets were installed to plug up the cameras. Our one camera is about 300 feet from our house. To make sure we could get a good picture on this camera we did purchase the booster antenna. The picture could not be better. The night vision on all the cameras are very good. I had some questions concerning the DVR and Tech Support was quick to give me an answer to my questions. We are very satisfied with our purchase. We have plans to add two more cameras. I would recommend this security system to anyone looking for a system.

Setup was a little difficult, but once it was up and running it worked like any other system.

DDNS cannot be set up, but this is due to corporate firewall restriction, and Mobile App isn't the friendliest out of Security DVR app's I have used previously.

Other wrench in the chain there wasn't a way to set 720p as an output for the HDMI, which was an issue we had to work around. The feed is broadcasted to 12 other displays in our facility, and only recognizes 1080-30P (this displays 60P) or all flavors of 720 and below.

Love the security gained with my Lorex system. A friend who has experience with Lorex systems Installed the cameras and base station easily and quickly. The 960 cameras have great picture quality. Night vision is amazing. The system is connected to my MacBook Pro. One camera out of 13 had a glitz. After receiving approval from a customer service representative, that camera was returned using the postage paid label provided by Lorex. I was surprised by how quickly I received a replacement camera. Thanks to all Lorex representatives for excellent customer service.

I've found this to be a reliable product so far, I have 2 of these systems installed and have been using them for about 6 months. So far we have had no issues with any of the camera's The installation was easy enough and I have been pleased with the day and night resolution, the night vision is impressive for a system in this price range. I will say that the backup portion of this system leaves a lot to be desired, with 16 x 2 channels, I'm recording on most, the number of keystrokes needed to do a complete daily backup is on average about 900 between the two systems That's ridiculous !! When I called customer support, they were very professional and answered all of my questions, they confirmed I was doing the process correctly. So when you click on "ALL" you really only get 7. Then the forward arrow ,all ,forward . arrow all. on and on and on you get my frustration !! Give us a real ALL please and allow the backup to run in the background, for 7 hours a day I can't use my system because your backup runs in front. Unable to review recorded footage from my security station unless I use another device. I'll give it a 5 Star otherwise only a 4

Good picture and cameras themselves were easy to connect and get up and running quickly. Night vision looks really good. However the DVR can be so loud at times, which sometimes stops if you give it a little whack. That's probably not recommended (haha). And I've tried to get the remote viewing going from a computer, with no luck so far. I'm bummed that you can't record all of the time and also perform an event search- you could with my old Q-see system. The user manual needs rewriting- it skips around and excludes some important details.

I have tested this system, but have not actually mounted/installed the cameras to a fixed location yet. So far all is well. System comes with more features than expected. As far as setting up email /text alert when a camera motion detector goes off, don't believe the instruction manual. It will never work according to Lorex support personnel. I had to call into their support to get different directions to get it to work finally. Tech support was helpful and stayed over his shift to help me on this. After all, I waited for 1hr 15min to get hold of support. I would have given 5 star had I have more time to actually installed the cameras permanently and have more time to evaluate the system.

Yes we purchases these camera a little over a week ago and are still trying to set them up. we got two camera and a dvr. It takes much longer than 30 min to set up. I can't get it to only record during motion and alarm times. It wants to always record. I also can't get it to e mail me. I have tried CUSTOMER SUPPORT AND THAT SEEMS TO BE A JOKE ALSO. I was on hold for 15 min more than once and ended up not being able to wait any longer. The remote came with dead batteries. I seriously doubt we are going to keep these cameras.

Price was very reasonable. Cameras work very well. The picture is very clear. I like being able to go onto my phone and view my house. We recently had theft at our house so this gives me a big peace of my mind now. Setup was super simple once you run all the cables for the cameras. I do like how the power cable and video are all in one wire and separate at the ends of the wires. I would definitely recommend it to someone. The only thing is the app. You have to go in and add your channels to live view a lot. Maybe I'm doing something wrong but have messed with it enough yet

It's very end user friendly as far as remote viewing, but that can cause a few issues for IT Departments and highly technical people who maybe want to control it more than their Cloud connect service. System could also stand to have another hard drive, or better documentation on how to up the storage. We prefer to keep a months worth of video, but we're only getting about 1 week with 24 camera, which isn't too shabby.

We looked for quite some time and after analyzing this LOREX model we bought.
It was an ease to install and the support from LOREX on fine tuning my Camera system was a breeze. We can now visually monitor all entrances and exits to our home. I recommend this Model to all who may need to monitor their property. The picture quality is like looking through a window, very good detail and you can identify the visitor or passerby. We will be adding another system to our home and it will be a LOREX. Purchased through COSTCO.

LH040 Exactly what I was looking for. Wish they would sell just one camera for an extra as I don't need four. Technical support is shall I say miserable as I can't understand them. Finally figured it out on my own. Wish they would send a printed manual rather than having to search all over the place for it on line. Other than that it is now working and am very pleased with it so far. Now all I have to do is study and learn all the benefits of using it. One more thing I don't know if it is my wireless sight or what but connecting remotely is next to impossible.. Have even had trouble connecting while on my own y-fi. Love it when it works but getting it to work is a hassle.

Fairly easy to set up although there was no manual included, just a one page step by step. Still hadn't figured how to get the remote to work. It does nothing. Also hadn't figured out how to access the system on line. There is no instruction for doing this. Cameras are clear and good night vision capability. The PTZ camera works well but has a blur when in the full up position. Others have complained about this and I called the tech line prior to purchase. Was told the problem was corrected and I would not have this problem but that turned out not to be true. Don't use if your application required vision at the full up position because the top 20% of the picture will be blurry. Also the camera won't focus at full zoom so don't plan to use the full advertised 20X. Also hoping a wireless mouse will work since my installation is in a closet while the monitor is across the wall. I think the system will be good once I learn how to use it. Just takes some time noodling around with it. Had to buy some longer cables for my application so be aware when selection the system and camera locations.

How do I begin with the problems I have had setting up my lorex lh162400
First let me say I now have my forth DVR in currently in hand. one had bad LAN connection, second one sent to replace first was completely the wrong model, third same LAN issue the ( on phone with Costco concierge- who are the best part of this purchase) finally after hours for several days( no joke) a Costco rep got the DVR to recognize my new Linksys ea 6900 ac1900 router and we made connection.
Left DVR on for two days to practice with cameras awaiting forth DVR ( on its way via ups ground due to issues with third machine). Once I received the forth device I decided to power off number 3 and sure enough once restarted all settings were lost and number 3 was of no value
Finally today as if by magic number 4 started up recognized router and all was well to date.
Worst part of this experience was the frustration getting thru to lorex ( only sussessful by calling Costco as they have speed dial special numbers).
If you get on with tech dept and need to set up ticket for new machine don't expect to get thru to customer service for a long long time( if you are lucky enough to not be cut off)
I will stay with this new DVR and test it out for just under warranty period. If I have another issue lorex can have their machine and frustrate another believer in their product.
Last note. I have been asking for shipping labels to return their machines. So far I have one, 2 more needed.

Purchased the EC06 as a birthday gift to my husband. The camera installation was easy. The daytime and nightime viewing gives a clear picture - great clarity. One of the twelve cameras has a distinct "halo" ring while in the infrared mode. I am currently in communications with Lorex warranty for a replacement camera. I will update this review upon completion of the warranty exchange. The Lorex webpage allowed me to activate my warranty with just a few mouse clics. Hoping to connect with remote access with the same ease. We are considering purchasing from Lorex two extra long cables so we can put two of the cameras on the far side of the garage. Very happy with our purchase.

We purchased a Lorex 16 Channel DVR, 12ea 960H Security cameras and a PTZ camera to protect our local fire house. I have been impressed with the ease of installation, clarity, and intuitive software. The picture quality is great, and the system seem pretty easy to use. We did spend about $1200 having it installed (13 cameras). Maybe if your town's building and permit codes are different you could do it yourself, but it would have been way out of my league anyway.

We've had this system for over a month, and there have definitely been some challenges in getting it completely operational with connecting to the network and getting it to work remotely on our apps and laptops. But the Lorex tech line has been pretty helpful. It still plays in super-slow-mo, even live. But the tech said I need to upgrade my uploading speed with the internet company because everything uploads to the cloud. So I guess I'll try that next.

I'm really looking forward to when this system will just be a regular, working part of life. Right now, the cameras are great, and it's nice to have it so handy on an app, but in current reality, it's just a great idea... but not a dependable and functional source of security for my business yet.

Pros: This system was easy to setup. Reception range is great. Picture quality is good for both day and night. The iPad app is great. The Android app is decent. The client PC software is decent and much easier to fully program the system than dealing with the cheesy mouse only operation directly with the DVR. Remote live viewing works well.

Cons: I have yet to get it to send me an email when motion activates it. The 2.4 Ghz signal of the cameras pretty much kill my 2.4 Ghz wifi. Luckily I have a dual band router so 5 Ghz still works for my newer devices. Being able to play back exactly the motion activated recordings are fairly cumbersome from any of the interfaces. They could have made the connections easier by having a single power supply for the DVR and the receivers. As it is there are three wall warts which makes for a mess behind the slim unit.

The easiest setup for remote access I've seen so far. I've set up remote access on at least 3 other DVR's and this one by far requires the least amount of technical knowledge about routers and network settings. The quality of the cameras (especially at night) are very good as well. My only suggestion would be to include a couple of extra long (75') cables for the cameras farthest away from the DVR. A very good product.
