I had issues getting remote viewing to work out of the box. When I called support I didn't get a tech on the phone right away so I left a message to receive a callback. When the support agent called me back I wasn't near the DVR and the agent continued to call and check on me each day until I could be near the DVR can perform the steps he recommended. The agent did a great job of following through and making me feel like Lorex wanted to resolve my problems. I have purchased many Lorex systems over the years and Lorex remains my number one choice above all others...largely based on the good pricing, good features and great service.

I never thought that buying a new DVR would mean old and outdated. The app is horrible. It's outdated going back at least 3 years. You cannot view all 16 cameras easily. Never again.

This is my 6th Lorex dvr. I have one for home and all my business locations. This particular one has been the best. As usual, it came within a few days of ordering. The setup of all DVRs is easy but the remote connectivity has been challenging...but not on this one. Just download the App on your device and scan the QR code on the dvr - it does the rest and you're all setup!
This has been the best dvr so far because of its ease and compact size.

This is our second Lorex DVR. Lorex has made the remote viewing setup easier that it was before. One small issue is the output from the DVR is higher quality than it used to be so I had to update my TV I use to view the cameras. The improved output is a huge improvement from our old DVR.

Product arrived promptly and well packaged. Set was straight forward although I am still working with remote access through the internet. That is not as clear as some of the other vendor products I have worked with.

I bought a 1TB Western Digital "purple" surveillance drive to replace the 500gb drive that came with the system. Installation was easy, but after multiple tries the drive would not format. That was frustrating....So, I called the support line and they were prompt in returning my call. The CSR that called back did not speak english clearly and was not completely knowledgeable about the product. He kept telling me the drive needed a ribbon cable attached when it did not since the drive pulls directly into the motherboard. Now I am stuck with a hard drive I cannot use or I will have to replace with another. The system is located in another city so that means an additional trip to complete the installation.

Unit has been up and running several days with no issues. Time will be the true test.

I purchased this unit after my older one died after three years on operation. Initially everything was great then after 5 months the unit started getting louder and louder. (The Hard Drive). I called Support and they promptly said they would replace it. Here is where the trouble started. I was not told that I needed to provide "proof of purchase" during the call. Which is rather redundant since I bought the unit from their website. I found out via an email saying I was approved but they required my proof of purchase. Which the representative had already verified I purchased the unit from the Lorex site. We will see how this turns out but seems very shady to me so far.

Purchased 16 channel Lorex system in 2013. Installation was easy. Was able to remotely view cameras from iPhone. Changed the password on the DVR, however I didn't remember Thea password. It was fine until I upgraded my iPhone in 2016 and since I forgot my password I could not view cameras from the phone. order this unit from a black friday and it was an open box. i understand about open box may have something wrong or person just didn't like it. got started working with it i will say it looks fine and works fine the recording software could use some work but it works. did have a problem when you connect cameras to the lower number channels below 4 when adding a camera or just moving the unit you would lose one or two channels or picture would break up. i used lorex online ticket to submit the problem did get reply to call them about, luckily the unit is being used at work so i could call work with tech support they will replace unit, but sent a 12 channel they will replace that one. for most part unit does work ok. have very long run over 500 ft near 750 feet. using cat5 and passive baluns but power supply for each camera is 12v local having no problem with good picture using three different cameras form cameras that are around 10 years old to some qsee 960h cameras left by one of out old tenet to some 960h got from amazon. the long line wiring may not be the best but picture is clear sharp and stable so far unit work just don't move should have replacement in about a week. have had four different system two wireless one 4 unit and now this 16 channel have to units are good work well.

The Super-R 960H resolution gives me way more. The upgrade in the software package is amazing. And the extra 2 TB hard drive was with out a doubt welcomed. Purchased them on the Lorex website and saved quite a bit. It may be too early to see how long they will last, but for the price we ended up getting a spare just in case. For the price and features of this DVR, I highly recommend this product.

My husband is a truck driver and he is able to view it while he is away. This DVR was a replacement from a different brand that went out. With the other brand we had to pay a yearly fee to be able to view it online. With this one there is no extra fee.

I ordered this DVR and additional cameras to replace another 8 channels Lorex's DVR which crashed during a big thunder storm. Lorex was nice enough to give me a discount and sent an upgraded version of the DVR and cameras. The new cameras are very sharp with HD quality even at night. Love them so much I ordered 8 more to replace old cameras. There was a little confussion at the warehouse initially which caused delay in delivery but I received my cameras 2 days later after contacted customer service.

This is a decent product for a small business or home. Set up and installation was relatively painless. Unfortunately for me my DVR's hard drive failed and 4 out of the 5 cameras fried and started flickering after two years. Customer support is EXTREMELY difficult to reach. Wait times on hold have been over 30 minutes and then I was promptly disconnected. I ended up buying a new DVR and thankfully I have a couple extra cameras to put up. Hopefully, this unit will last longer. I will say that the picture quality on the one camera I have working is much better with the new DVR. Lorex is a good product. They just need to get better customer and technical support.

Easy set up and the software that comes included to set up your router's port forwarding is pretty impressive. I've dont this myself in the past and have not problem doing it, but for those that don't understand routers, this is a major improvement.

I do have some issues with connecting to the system outside my LAN. I get the error,

"You haven't installed the plugin or its not the latest version.

Please click download to install the latest version.

Please restart Safari after plugin installation."

I get this message using Chrome on a PC. Obviously ,this message is assuming I'm using Safari. So I have not been able connect remotely via browser from a PC outside my LAN. I need to try using a different port other than 80. I read on some boards that might work.

But, I am impressed with the improvement using a mouse and an easier UI. I had a version from about 8 years ago and the UI was almost unusable. So it's good to see Lorex is improving on their UI.

Just installed Vantage LH146 ECO3 Series DVR this past week. So far everything is fantastic, the color and picture using our existing cameras are cleaner and sharper than ever before. Another feature that caught my attention and finally won me over to purchase this unit was the remote access ability. I can't tell you how cool it is to pickup my iphone and login to the DVR and see exactly in real time what's going on. We had an alarm go off a 2AM one day last month, I wasn't available so the alarm company called the owner. Long story short the police came out to find it was a faulty motion sensor. Now we can see with out having to have costly police visits. Don't know where you are, but here in Raleigh, if they police have to come out more than once for false alarms, they bill you. I would recommend this unit to any home or small business owner.

Clear instructions and easy setup. This is my second Lorex DVR and I really appreciate the attention paid to software design and ease of use. I needed a system that would function smoothly with my new Android 4.4 phone and this works quite nicely.

The client software is easy to install and use. For remote access the Lorex Auto Port Forwarding software package is a tremendous advantage for those who may not be familiar with how to manually perform this function within their home routers.

This system is much better than the LH328 I had. Its great upgrade. I am able to play back from my Android Phone, Pad and PC. The setup is a bit tricky when you try to connect non-standard 80, 9000, 1025 ports. After some adjustment on the router and DVR this works great.

My Local Network cable modem service provider blocks port 80,8080 and others.
You need to try and find out which open port that you can use.

I would get another one if they have in stock.

I purchased the LH126501 with 16 channels and the 1tb hard drive to replace a 10-year old 8-channel DVR. The primary reasons I chose this model were functionality, capacity, low price and remote viewing via my droid smartphone. Physical setup was very fast since all I needed to do was unplug and then replug my cameras and ethernet cable. However, after attempting to do the smartphone connection, I finally gave up and had to call support.

I talked to the support rep and he walked me through the setup of the DNS as well he remotely accessed to my PC to establish a static IP address in my wireless router. Without the help of the Lorex support person I don't think I would have been successful. So the support was both effective and much appreciated.

This DVR provides exceptionally crisp images from the nine cameras I have attached so far via HDMI. I also have a secondary monitor set up via a RCA cable (with dual splitter) with the second bifurcation to a 5.8 wireless transmitter. Audio from four of the cameras is clear. One of the features I really like is the ease of tailoring some of my settings from time-to-time, i.e., the menus are easy and quick to navigate and the functions are intuitively obvious. Well done by the designers/programmers.

Not happy with this product. We have only had it for 1 1/2 yrs and only used 4 cameras of the 16 available. Never worked quite right. Always having to unplug cameras to reset the system and after 8 months the fan was so noisy you could hear it upstairs. We know Lorex has a good name but this is unsatisfactory in my business opinion. Now after spending a lot of money on this system, they want $250.00 to try to fix it and I have to ship it back at my expense. Seems like there should be a better solution when you are dealing with a reputable corporation.

this 16 channel dvr is so easy to setup jus about plug in and it works i ahve had other lorex units and they had some little problems but this one does not all channels work and well i think i found one that i will keep. If i need anther i will be looking for another one like it

The unit installed pretty easily. Navigation with the mouse provided was difficult, so substituted a regular size mouse. Exiting the main menu is not intuitive - requires right mouse click or wait for time out. Operating system does not support USB wi-Fi adapters, so be sure you plan to install within Cat 5 cable distance of your Ethernet switch if you expect accessibility from a remote brouser. Saving files to a flash drive is rather slow, but manageable if you only download what is really necessary. Overall a pretty good value.

lorex tech has such poor customer service and the product is worthless. I have brought a camera set from Costco. It show it there are recording on the dvr but when I tried to play it back. there were nothing come up. I have contact their tech support for a few times, but they will e-mail you and told to call in. when I call in, they told me that they contact me within 48 hours. I have such horrible customer experience with them and will never buy any products from them again.

We had a Night Owl with 8 camera max capacity but due to some local issues, decided we needed to go for a 16 camera system. The Night Owl was nice but the clarity and simplicity of the Lorex makes the Night Owl look like a primitive system. It was actually very simple and easy to get everything set up, the only issue I had was not reading the directions all the way through so I would struggle when I thought I was done after a specific step. It might have been easier if they noted that all steps needed to be completed to go live and have remote access but aside from that, it is a great system and I'm sure once I read the manual I'll like it even more.

We are so pleased with our Lorex 16 channel security DVR system with monitor. We have piece of mind when we leave our property and we can view what is going on with our smartphone. Installing the wires was a challange. But that might be because I didn't want any exposed wires. I still have a few questions about adding camera's to the system.

I just purchased this system and I have to tell you for the price - you cannot go wrong. To save a few bucks I did the installation myself. VERY EASY. The hardest part of the whole installation was installing the wiring because I ran the wiring through the attic and through the walls. This is easily a one person install job as I was able to view the image from the camera via my ipad and adjust the camera's point of view. The only issue I had was that the wiring kept tangling up. After the 3rd camera installation (with wiring) you become a pro and learn how to stop that from happening as well as using a wire hanger to run the wiring from your soffit's to the attic. I will be adding more camercas to this system.

This is my first Lorex purchase and so far I have been extremely satisfied with my decision to select Lorex! Previous to the Lorex system I had a Foscam and still do but the Foscam has been giving me some trouble so I purchased the 16 Channel DVR with 4 cameras for my home even though I am not a pro installer the bundled packaged was not really difficult to install. I was able to install everything in less than a day. The ability to view the cameras remotely using my cell phone gives me peace of mind of what`s going on at our home at any time of day. Picked up a Lorex  16 camera surveillance system with recorder. Installing it was a breeze, plug and play. I was thinking about using a wireless system but glad I went wired. Great picture day or night. Ran into one problem with the power cord for the cameras. Customer service was fairly quick to respond on how I should go about replacing the supply. I just wish that a physical address was sent, instead of an email address, to send the paperwork to. I'm old school. The next step (ran out of time) is getting the cameras set up for internet viewing on several laptops and phones. That's why I didn't give the product 5 stars. If it's simple I'll try to amend or write another review.

We set this up in our store and was fairly easy to set up. I got off site set up on my husband's Droid; however, I am having problems setting up on my phone. Set up on my computer at home and can view what is going on at the store in our absence; however, transmission is slow and delayed when trying to enlarge camera shot or change view screen. Decent security camera system for the Price

I have the LH016000H system I purchased from Costco. Overall I'm pleased with the system Easy to set up, the only problem I had was that my ISP provider blocks certain ports and I had to call them to find out what port I could use for the DDNS setup. I do have to say I was quite disappointed to find out that the mobile app does NOT allow play back, like other security systems do. I called Lorex and found out that this is a limitation to the certain DVR that came with my package I purchased. For my needs it should suffice... I only wish I had that option - to play back while I'm on the road without being able to get internet/computer connection. Hopefully Lorex may offer this as a software down load or something...

The cameras have a fairly good range and clarity. It caught a vandal on camera at night but extra lighting outside the house was definitely helpful for viewing. It is a bit difficult to view the recordings and the periodic intervals are a bit annoying. If you can keep the equipment in a spare room it would be to your advantage. The DVR is quite bright and noisy. Not bedroom equipment. One plus is to be able to click on the hooked up TV and see live recording as well as to be able to view the recording live from a computer or smart phone. The set up was a bit complicated for a non-techie but support was helpful when called.
