Purchased Lorex 8-Channel HD IP NVR with 2TB HDD, 6 1080p Cameras with 130' Night Vision from Costco to replace my Samsung surveillance system last month. Easy installation and no issues setting up online monitoring. Much wider view and clear crisp picture from cameras. Only Issue I have run into so far is camera input 6 does not work. Currently working with customer service to replace NVR.

System works quite well and was easy to setup. Some advanced features take a little more time, but it seems to be pretty flexible. I did have an issue and although it took 1 hour and 51 minutes of being on hold, it was resolved smartly by Jorge. He represented his company is a very well.

The tech support is great.
The call back feature is well done by FLIR
They have answered all my questions.
It is nice they can come on my system and work things out from there base.
The ticket follow through system makes it easy for somebody new to come up to speed quickly
I recommend this system and company.

I had a lot of troubles to set up the system without tech support, waiting time about 40 minutes- good option they will call you back. Tech support was able to guide me thru quite complicated system, I couldn't find any information how to login to the ip cameras - what is default login and password, there was a problem to connect to the dvr from mobile devices, password limited just to 6 digits/numbers

Bought this camera system over a year ago. Were discussing moving to a larger store... finally worked it out. The original warranty expired which is not making me happy. Would prefer Lorex to make the warranty from the date of installation, not purchase...

The system was easy to install, I added a second 3TB hard drive and fired it up... had video from 8 cameras on our cell phones within minutes. Running cables overhead is a chore, but connectorized cables coming with it was a time saver even though the small diameter caused some corkscrew effects in the wiring. The lack of a printed manual was annoying, and finding the manual on line was easy enough, but sorting through all of it to find recording options and terminology was time consuming. Too little information on settings such as video quality... 1...6 Which end is the best, 1 or 6. This should be addressed in the manual. A calculator should be provided to help deal with bandwidth requirements for Internet, and recording capacity. You know the answers... you manufacture it. An application could be made to help meet requirements... say I have 16 cameras, and want to use two 3TB drives to provide 30 days of continuous recording... what settings would be required to make this work...

I love the video quality... was one of the engineers who put cameras on the bridges in San Francisco following the 9/11 attack on America. We built a great system from emerging technology parts, and the system continues to evolve as time goes by. I am retired from CALTRANS, but still have memories of getting the system designed and installed. This Lorex cam gives super quality video in darkness...

All the cameras are heavy duty construction and are definitely IP66 weatherproof. Here in Florida you need to makes sure that the cameras can withstand the elements including your occasional tropical storm/hurricane.

I don't buy anything else other than LOREX!

It was time to install a home video system. Where to go, Costco, too easy to return. After lots of review I chose the LNR416S-C system. Arrived within the specified time and undamaged. Was surprised at how large a box, lots of hardware inside. The NVR was larger than expected. Camera's appear to be built well, still seem to be home grade/size tho. Was extremely shocked at how easy the install is. I have a six sided home so this system seems to work well with the 9 camera's and 100' cat5e cables. The hardest part of this install was where to decide to place the camera's. Once that was done I installed 2 camera's where I thought they would work, hooked up the NVR to the internet and then viewed the camera positions on my tablet to verify coverage. I also hooked up the NVR to a 48" LED TV while setting the rest of the camera's up and could not believe how clear the 3mp camera's are. Now onto the harder part of getting into the attic and pulling wires.
Had to sit on hold with Lorex for a little over an hour on a Saturday morning to get my password reset, but once live with someone it went quickly and professionally.
Lots to learn about the programming of the system and camera's but if it goes as easy as the set up this is an awesome system and I give it a 5 star and I recommend rating.

Setup and install was pretty easy. App is very glitchy. It always disconnects and you have to manually tell it to connect every time. Camera quality is very good.

I bought this product and have been pretty satisfied with it. There are a couple issues however. The app that goes with your iPhone is glitchy. You have to learn the glitches before you can feel reliable with it. Also the picture on your phone through the app is not as good as it should be. The main interface on the computer has plenty of features though. From motion recording and emailing you pics you can set up many options. I will say that when I set up my account to forward me pictures of the motion that set it off, I would often get emailed pictures that were too late and missed the whole activity (such as me walking up to the front door). Also note that the DVR runs pretty loud 24/7. I was concerned until I read other reviews that mentioned the same. Overall I feel more secure with this system and was able to set it all up myself.

Purchased through Costco. Packaging is really good. Was replacing a Logitech system. cameras all quit, with no replacements available. After looking at lots of systems and reading many reviews, I decided on Loxex system. LNR 408 with two bullet cameras and two dome cameras. Before purchase downloaded the manual and read it over carefully. I unpacked system following the setup instructions. Cameras were recognized immediately. Picture quality is exceptional. Now comes the fun part, trying to get the motion detection and email working. I spent almost a week trying to get system running properly. What frustration. Finally Aug. 12 I called the support line and after waiting 20 minutes got a very nice lady, Andrea. She was very helpful and after 3 and a half hours. The system is working correctly. FLIR Cloud email does not work on Lorex DDNS but we got it sending emails through Gmail. I would recommend this system. After setting up cameras, I suggest you call support right away and avoid frustration like I did.

I replaced these my CHEAP analog cameras with these and they are a million times better. The color is amazing and the night vision is really good. They are better than I thought they would actually be! It is literally hook up the cameras, run the lines and ready for use. No complicated codes to plug in. Just plug in the cables and it is ready to go. I did the whole installation myself and took my time doing it over three days time and I am not handy at all, so if I can do it, anyone can. It looks like the cameras must have fish eye lens so the coverage is amazing. I had to go to the store and buy a couple of cables to add to make them long enough to reach but that is the norm with all security camera packages. The only negative thing I can say about this is that the FLIR cloud to remotely view on your cellphone is pretty much useless. I am hoping that Lorex has an alternative to this.

Received product and installed cameras after testing each one with the NVR. System works flawlessly. Used technical support (phone) and spoke with a young lady in Columbia who was amazingly versed in the system. She was familiar with all aspects of set-up and use of both PC and Android software setup. Very satisfied with the picture quality and ease of use.

The Lorex system replaced another system we had and the Lorex system is far superior to this other system. We used the existing Cat5 cables and locations so setup was very easy. We had a small issue with the software for the iPhones and iPads but an email to Lorex along with a quick response from them and we had our system up and running in no time.
I still have to run the cables for the 2 remaining cameras but it will be very easy.

1) Easy to setup, esp with POE. Only a single ethernet cable is needed for both power and data
2) Video quality is good with 1080P cameras
3) Flir Cloud app for iOS and Windows desktop is easy to install and use
4) Reliable. No issue what so ever since it was put in service about a year ago

1) The length of the cable that attached to the camera can be longer
2) Cameras that came with the system is only has a view of field of 72 degree, not wild enough in some cases
3) The fan inside the unit is a bit noisy

This is the only system I've work with so I don't have anything else to compare with. Overall, it is a good system and I'd recommend this to anyone who's looking for a DIY surveillance system.

This is the second unit we have as the first died after 2 months of use. This one has lasted 1 1/2 years. It works well when connected through our home network however the flue cloud app is not good. Aperntly they are working on a fix for this issue.
I don't hate the unit but since we invested money in it we will go with it. If they can get the cloud app to work as it should then my rating would be four stars.
One more detector of this unit is it is extremely loud so hopefully one could put it in an out of the way location so as not to be bothered by it.

Thank you for your feedback. Our technical support team will be happy to assist you with the app. Please give us a call at 1-877-755-6739.

I ordered this product through Costco and it came with the NVR and 6 cameras.
1) This product came as advertised.
2) Installation was easy.
3) The POE proved to be convenient because we only had to deal with one cable for each of the cameras.
4) Flir Cloud DNS service is free and seems to be reliable so far.
5) Livestream is good while on the same network.
6) Setup on mobile devices is easy with the QR Code.

1) One of the dome cameras did not work right out of the box and we have called Costco to help resolve the matter. The issue is currently pending.
2) The cables are only 60 ft. You might have to get additional cabling if throwing a longer distance.
3) Livestream of video is choppy on your iPhone if you want HD quality remote viewing.

I called Lorex to purchase an additional 2 bullet cameras since the NVR supports 8 POE cameras. The cameras that originally came with the package are discontinued. However, they did have available other cameras that are compatible with the NVR. Note: Not all POE Cameras work with this NVR, only Lorex cameras. I installed the Flir Cloud on my computer and iPhone. The video was very choppy on my iPhone but after subscribing to Flir's DNS service, I was able to view my cameras in real time although somewhat blurry. The recordings on the hard drive from the NVR however are HD quality and you can view the video feeds from the computer in real time and HD quality so long as you are on the same network. Easy to setup

Bought product from Cotsco as part of a set that came with four cameras. Had someone else install. Product requires a monitor to setup (i.e. something with an HDMI in like a TV or computer monitor) so I had to also purchase a small monitor for initial setup. You will also likely need to purchase longer lines to setup the cameras where you'd like.

Overall I've been pretty happy with the product. The camera images are clear and and function as expected. I have gotten the images to work both on an hardwired monitor and on my phone via wifi. I haven't gone back to look at past recordings.

My main complaints are:

1. The wires that came with the product are virtually useless given how short they are
2. Setup/Installation requires a monitor which I had to purchase separately
3. I tried to setup the DDNS site which wasn't very straightforward and still isn't working after spending some time with technical support. They were generally helpful and took control of my home computer to walk me through setup but looks like I'll have to call again.

I am very pleased with this product and the cameras that came with it. The NVR and Cameras are very easy to setup and configure. When i did have a question about configuration i called the Lorex support number. The person that answered the phone was very friendly and extremely knowledgeable with the product and software. He was able to answer my questions without hesitation and even took the time to give me a brief tutorial of the product and its features.

I had some valuables stolen from my home so I wanted to get a system to help identify the crooks should they come back. The Costco price was really good for what you get. The set up was really pretty easy. The worst part was laying on the insulation in the attic to run wires. All the components worked flawlessly right out of the box. All the parts were there. The apps set up very easily and worked right away. All in all it works well and was easy to set up.

The video quality is great. I found the setup in order to access the camera locally on the computer to be difficult. The FLIR App seemed easy to set up however I could only figure out how to view the feed live. It was not intuitive how to review recorded footage via the app. For the money the hardware solution seems like a very good deal, but the software solution leaves much to be desired

We installed 8 cameras with the NVR and the quality of the pictures far surpasses
The picture quality of our "professionally installed" system. This system did not replace our current system but was installed as an enhancement to it. The video quality on the Lorex is noticeably superior. We were very impressed and satisfied. Desktop access works great and remote access is good too.

I installed four cameras around my building. they work great. Have one camera that had an issue and support fixed it with no issues. Now the only thing i wish they were faster in setting up is the DDNS website. The software could be more intuitive and better streamlined but for the most part i am very satisfied with this product. I work in IT for a living and found their documentation along with the actual camera technology is well established.

Ended up getting a bad system right from the start which they did replace.
Think they mess up and gave us a prototype from the start.

still can't get any license plates

I recently purchased a NVR 400 system with 8 cameras for my 4 family home after my neighbor was broken into. I currently have seven cameras installed and am searching for a camera to cover my two front doors. I installed by cameras under my second floor overhang, I have three cameras in the front, one on each side and two covering the rear yard. This gives me a view of the front sidewalk, both side driveways and windows, and the rear cameras cover the total back yard. The high definition gives me a clear view all around my house, the night vision has reveled that there are raccoons and opossums’ in my back yard. System installation was easy; I connected my PC and phone to the system in about an hour. Hooking the cameras up was easy by running an Ethernet cable through the attic. I have called support once for a camera recommendation for the front entrance and was surprised by how quick I was speaking with someone. I would highly recommend this system to anyone thinking about buying a surveillance system it restored my sense of security after my neighbor’s burglary.

Bought this system because it seemed like a good buy from 9 POE cameras with a 16 channel NVR looked like a good deal. Package arrived on time via UPS. Opened it up and everything seemed okay. Decided to buy a 1000 foot roll of solid copper direct burial CAT 6 because most of my runs will be outside, some 300 feet away from the NVR. Tested out the cameras and video definition seems good. Haven't had a chance to install all of the cameras so far, but the PC software was easy enough to get up and running. I am having some difficulty with the FLIR cloud setup and haven't called the help line...that will be coming soon!

Overall, I am pleased with the quality of the cameras and the fan inside the NVR seems quieter than the AVERTX system I returned. I wished that the manufacturers would find a way to make the dome cameras easier to take apart and install better. The Lorex ones are a bit easier than the AVERTX ones, but they still are lacking ease of adjusting while attaching to the mounting plate. Will update my review once I have had chance to install all 9 cameras and do a proper testing of them.

Although I understand the need for the additional BNR cables coming out of the one POE/BNR cable from the cameras, it took me by surprise when I opened the first camera. The BNR cable is there if your switch or router will not handle POE. Mine did so I will put up with the extra useless BNR cable sticking out of each camera. Just staple it to the wall and it will stay out of the way.

Great product - work well.

Some things to consider:
Placement of the POE and NVR. I placed mine near our entertainment system for ease of access to displaying live picture. The FAN in both of these devices is EXTREMELY LOUD. The issue appears to be the fact that the fans are not controlled accurately and are defaulted to full speed. Lorex might be able to satisfy customers with this complaint by updating the firmware to accurately control the fan speed. I have determined that 25% duty cycle is all that is required during normal everyday operation.
Resolve FAN issue by placing the POE and NVR away from common areas.

Camera’s: Excellent picture. No complaints on the hardware. Cables supplied and common Ethernet cables will not fit the supplied waterproofing connections unless you cut the cable and install a new Ethernet connector. The idea is good but needs a revised weather seal pack. I believe the current supplied item is for professional installers where they cut the CAT5 cable and install new ends during installs. Not a big deal for me, but just be aware of additional work required if water seal connections are desired for your installs.

Camera viewing software: IPad and Android Flir Cloud apps – tested both over the last few weeks and both work but not as well they should. In fact, I am looking for other apps that may work with this setup as the apps simply make this system useless. I still have some previous Foscam IP wireless cameras still up and use those cameras with android app ‘tinyCam monitor pro’ and it surpasses the viewing capability of the Lorex system. I have not been able to configure the tinyCam app to work with Lorex. I am assuming that the Lorex system has more security thus the issues of connectivity and sluggishness. I have tested the system both with the DDNS setup and without the DDNS setup and port forwarding setup as well.

Use the App if it works for you, otherwise test more user friendly versions of apps out in the marketplace to work with Lorex. I will update the post once I discover some.

Recording: Whether it’s motion or scheduled recording, this systems has the best recording and playback of most to the systems I’ve tested. I had a professional system installed at a business that I used to work at and this software surpasses that system in numerous ways. That was a $40K system.

Using other cameras. There are options in the settings page to install some 3rd party cameras but none of the common cameras will work with this system. If you have certain Axis, Samsung or Panasonic high end cameras then they may interface with this system. Why use them when you can get additional Lorex cameras at reasonable price without the interface issue? I was looking forward to integrating with some of my existing IP cameras even though Lorex said other cameras won’t work, only to eventually give up on that scenario due to lack of support for other vendor protocols. Not a big deal!
You will not be disappointed with this system. It does what it’s designed to do with the exception of poor visibility from its supported apps trying to view offsite. I installed the system at my house in place of dysfunctional wireless IP cameras and overall love the updated system.

Great product, amazing clarity. A big plus with this model was the alarm contact inputs and outputs. I was able to reuse the existing alarm contacts in the house (Doors/windows) with the system for even better coverage as to whats going on in my home. The one cable setup with the IP/POE cameras makes installation a breeze. The interface could be a little more intuitive, but overall not bad. I would recommend this system to anyone in the market for a home security system.

I purchased this kit from Costco, and added a few IP cameras. I was blown away by the build quality. The cameras are top grade aluminum. My home is networked, installation was fairly simple, and I used 2 POE switches to power some cameras mounted far from the NVR. Image quality at high resolution is excellent.

One downfall is the included lorex weatherproof connectors which require cutting the plugs and fit tine the protectors over the connectors to waterproof the connection. We had a rain, and this caused moisture to find my taped connection. This burned out 1 outdoor flir camera by not using the Lorex connectors. My mistake. I had to cut off and replace the camera plug, wire in a new plug, which was difficult with no wiring diagram. I restored the camera. I had the same issue with a second camera, but was able to cut off and replace that plug too.

If planning an outdoor installation research ways to protect the camera like placing in a protected area or building a shelter for it.

Playing with software took a long read of the manual, and I recommend you spend a few hrs to familiarize yourself with the myriad of setting and options, which I'm STILL is system does a lot.

My neighbor had a package theft 2 weeks after my install, and my front yard camera not only caught the thieves in 1080p, but I managed to download footage to distribute to media & multiple law enforcement agencies in the area. Everyone was blown away by the quality of my video, including the media.

I've have several calls with support, and this model still drops frames like crazy.

I've done the following:

1) 'Test' setup in the living room with just one camera connected: Drops frames
2) Factory reset NVR & Camera: Drops frames
3) Changed camera: Drops frames
4) Support sent replacement NVR: Drops frames

What I haven't done: I have not taken it to someone else's house to see if there's a ghost killing frames.

I am not sure how others aren't noticing this, but it is horribly easy to replicate: just playback recorded video and watch a moving object jump around... and if that isn't enough, just use a stopwatch/external clock to measure how far off the clock is in the recorded video. Mine is moving roughly 30% faster than it should on playback. So that tells me that roughly 30% of the frames are being dropped.

It's been several months now, so I am not quite sure how to get my money back at this point.

Thank you for your feedback. We apologize for any difficulty you have experienced. Our technical support team was happy to assist you with this again. If you require further assistance, please call us at 1-877-755-6739.

Easy to install. Easy to setup. Software interface is a little difficult to navigate and very ugly, but it gets the job done. Camera quality was great; metal housings, no cheap plastic. QR code makes connection a breeze. Flir Cloud is ok; could use some updating/be more user friendly. Email alert setup was a pain; lots of steps to do before you go to the actual email setup page. And the pamphlets that come with the product are very minimal in their content, but the website has all the info you need.
3.5 stars if I could give half stars.

After many years of IP Cams monitoring my home I finally upgraded to this Lorex HD Security NVR. Overall I am quite satisfied however there are some features that are worth mentioning and Lorex should strive for improvements... The initial installation and setup is extremely easy. The daytime picture is extremely crisp and clear. The dome cameras cover a wide range. The night picture is very good. The NVR unit is extremely noisy although after a few days some can get used to it along with all the other noises - city life, nature, etc... The interface is not very intuitive and does not function very well. I am a technology professional and I am challenged every time I use it. I use the FLIR app on iPhones and iPads and they are great for basic monitoring. The feature that swayed me into the purchase of this model is the ethernet connectivity - it works well if your home is already wired with ethernet. Overall this system is very good for the investment I made.

Through our research, my wife and I finally decided on this particular setup (LNR400 NVR, 3 Dome Cams, 6 bullet Cams, PoE) Purchased through OnPoint Surveillance via Amazon.
We have seen some negative reviews, and we'd like to add our two cents. While initial setup is clunky, once you have thoroughly read the manual (you can download a PDF) and tweaked the system, it is amazing.
- The clarity of the cameras is excellent in all lighting conditions
- The iOS app leaves something to be desired, but with some diligence on the users part, it is very good and does what you need (live view, and view of playback.
- The Windows App is a stripped down version of the NVR, but functions just fine. A bit clunky also.
- The web based connection (via Lorex DDNS) more closely mirrors the NVR and it's much nicer to be able to sit in front of your computer than in front of the NVR which may be in your closet, basement, attic, etc....
- We have been able to configure 99% of the system via a browser session (Internet Explorer) and can watch live, review video, etc...
- The installation of the cameras is pretty much idiot proof, and they are truly plug and play
- Lorex support was responsive, and took care of our issue within 48 hours.

The bottom line here is, the system is pretty amazing, but you as the purchaser need to put some work into it. Don't expect to plug it in and turn it on and forget it. There are many things you'll need to configure, and you should take the time to tweak, test, tweak. Lorex doesn't deserve many of the bad reviews we saw because their product is solid. Sure it may seem like a technician wrote some of the instructions assuming we all speak the same language, but the manual + google + Lorex Support should make you a true believer in the quality of this system.

Let me state up-front that I am not a security expert by anyone's stretch of the imagination. I'm a regular Joe who just wanted a reliable surveillance system that would allow me to see what's happening around my homes surroundings when I'm out and about. After much research I settled on this Lorex NVR400 with 8 cams. I had the system installed only because of the amount of work involved in properly running the wiring from cams to the box and from box to a monitor on a floor above. As for setting up the system itself, it's fairly straight forward and "plug-n-play". The Flir Cloud program has worked really well with no problems at all and allowed me to keep an eye on things from well over a thousand miles away. Three months after installation, upon returning home from vacation I found that I could not get an image on the monitor though it did not affect my viewing through Flir. I purchased this item through Costco and so I first contacted their Concierge Service. They thoroughly troubleshot the system and after contacting Lorex, I was emailed a return shipping label and received a new box in eight days. I plugged everything back in and it's worked flawlessly since. I've since purchased a second system and installed it myself in my Florida home. That went really well and am happily able to keep tabs on both properties on my android phone, my laptop and tablet.
My only complaint, really, is not about the product but about the Lorex website. It would be nice to be able to do a word search and find a clear explanation of features and how they work, e.g., how adjustments to sensitivity and threshold work in "motion" settings.

Lorex products seem to be better than the other products on the market. I have had three of them over the last 8 years. they usually last about 4 years before needing replacement. this newest one 400 series seems to work well and with the PTZ cameras fits my needs very well. Mine is a stand alone system and I do not have it hooked up to the cloud.

I originally had the LNR300 series system but had great difficulty getting it to work. After some time Lorex was kind enough to swap it out for this unit with the POE Dome cameras and it works great. Picture clarity is nice, the Flir Cloud works great and the user menu is much better than the 300 series. The only downside is what most people say about the cooling fan, yes it is very loud. Definitely recommend this NVR if your in the market for one. Pay the extra and go with this and you'll love the POE cameras much better too!

Excellent clarity during daytime, any conditions including rain. At night, the IR is very good and extends fully to our back fence – about 60 feet away. Works best at night with little or no ambient lighting (we now switch off the deck light at night). NVR unit has a fan that is more noisy than a desktop PC for sure. Would suggest locating it in an mostly unoccupied area, or away from sleeping areas. Can definitely recommend.

The NVR (LNR4082C8B package) is great and video is recorded in real time and at 1080p. Live and recorded view work fluently. Only drawback is the PoE power supply fan is loud. Also, I would have like to be able to reboot and shutdown the NVR remotely.

The dome and bullet cameras work great and picture quality high in day and night.

Running the cabling was the hard work.
I would have like higher quality Cat5E cables with water proof connectors at the camera end.

I recently purchased an NVR model LNR4163. It was more money than some of the competitors but well worth it. It has features than the others only dream about. It is rather involved in setting up advanced features but the technical support call in was pleasant, knowledgeable and very helpful. This guy solved my problems and fixed others needs that he knew I would need. My system is running flawlessly with 1080p cameras that detects and records continuous monitoring, motion alerts, sound, email of alerts as well as FTP of alerts. I am ordering two more cameras tonight and probably two more after that. I give them 5 stars on quality, support and price. Value perceived is there.

Hardware is good - and functionality is wonderful.

Installation instructions are not adequate - need to access the manual, use the direct connect to the unit before using other devices.

Software - both PC and even worse Android - is very poor and detracts from the product. The Android version is buggy, freezes and crashes and is not very intuitive. The PC version stays up but similarly is poor quality in design and function.

X2 X2 on all the other reviews - set mine up on bench to pretest as others have wisely recommended - -

- NOISY FAN - so it can't sit in a room you plan to be in a lot - if you hide it in the closet or garage or inside a sound-box as others have done, you can't use the mouse or remote to operate it near to your in-house monitor - that's major problem inmho at 2 a.m. when the motion alert goes off - the remote does not work well - my unit refuses to accept shutdown command from remote

no detailed operating manual - and can't find a download on the Lorex site even tho they say it's available, so expect to spend a lot of hours figuring out the complete setup - if you are not a techie who understands networking jargon & abbreviations this thing is a challenge to set up and connect to FLIR without a detailed manual

the Lorex website is a mess - half the help links don't work

got mine from COSTCO so it could be returned - and it is going back

p.s - nice resolution

I purchased the Lorex 8 Channel HD NVR Security System with 2TB HDD and 4 1080p Cameras - Item# 968383 from ($699) during a sale. If you don't already know, you will have to run the cable (cat5) from each of the cameras to wherever you place the this means you will most likely be drilling holes.

Overall video is very good, both day and night. The actual DVR unit is loud though...very loud. I have it placed inside a cabinet with glass door enclosures on the front, and I can still hear the hum from my hallway (about 20 feet away). This is my biggest issue with the system.

Initally, I was unable to get access to my phone or home computer. I was able to get in tough with an operator on my first call. The gentleman there spent roughly 1 1/2 hours with me and walked me through everything. I now can access the live video feed from all our computers and phones.

The biggest problem I had was getting email alerts. Emails were blocked from the server from my hotmail, yahoo, aol email servers. I was finally able to get through using YAHOO. Now I get alerts for everything...sometimes too much, which leads me to my next point.

Customize the camera record/motion/email settings. Take the time to learn (a few weeks for me) these setting and you will be able to custom tailor the cameras and alerts for everything you need.

Overall...4 stars.
-minus 1 star for the noisy harddrive

Very nice system with a super clear picture. Setup was easy though the cat5e cables wanted to keep coiling. I bought this system from Costco with four bullet camera and two dome cameras. I set all the camera to their maximum quality and they look great. Flir cloud setup was easy however the iOS apps need some refinement and updates. NVR fan can get a little loud but it's fine. I installed it high in the garage, so it can be almost as loud as it wants.

It was easy to set up and get the camera's running. However there are a few drawbacks to this unit. The user interface is quite complicated and not for the novice user. The PC, ipad, and Iphone apps all operate a little differently for playback, live view etc so it is a difficult thing to learn even how to go to live feed.
A little note about the fan, IT IS NOISY!! I am so glad we did not set this up in our bedroom. The fan runs 24/7 to keep the unit cool. Also there are very loud alarms when a warning comes up. So do not put this unit any where near where you will be sleeping.
So for these two drawbacks, I gave it 3 stars.

Purchased LNR400 Series NVR 1080p Recorder, (5) LNB3153B HD IR IP Bullet Cameras, (2)LND3152B HD PoE Fixed Dome Cameras, (1) LNZ3522B PoE Fixed Pan/Tilt Camera w/sound and (1) L24LE10B 24" Monitor direct from Lorex. Setup was easy with provided and online instruction manuals. The hard parts was running all the Cat5E cable throughout our multi story house with vaulted ceilings :( But I knew, and expected that to be a chore.

Made one call to tech support after I fouled up my password, and they were fantastic!!

System is amazing. I prefer the Bullet cameras over the dome as they give a better view. The recorder is a bit loud, so I installed it in a closet and ran longer cables to monitor, mouse and router. Flir Cloud software works great on laptop and iPad... But not at all on a Android phone :(

I have it up and operating all of 3 days now and think it a great system so far (less the Android app)

Overall impressed, boot up time on dome cameras is a bit sluggish but such a minor thing to worry about. Quality has been amazing. Menu navigation is a bit complex especially on the IPad app. Have a 2 pc monitors running one hdmi and one vga, works great plus using a logitech wireless mouse. If I could redo my purchases I would have bought all bullet cams instead of 5 bullets and 3 domes.

POE makes the wiring easy. The camera could be plugged to NVR's 8-port or plug into your router directly which is on the same subnet as NVR's wan port.
Bullet camera shows better picture than dome in night vision mode.
Wish the system could have wifi camera as well.

overall very happy to the purchase

This security system is fantastic. I temporarily set up the cameras and network video recorder to check the integrity and operation of all pieces and it passed 100%. Setup was easy, FLIR Cloud is a great app for smartphone, PC, and tablet. Be prepared to invest some labor in running and routing the connecting cable for each camera. Everything was included with the system. The only thing I did other than standard was to make up a longer RJ-45 cable (network cable) in order to place my NVR near a HD television so I could connect it and not move my wifi router from its ideal location. The system comes with four 100' camera cables (RJ-45) and one probably six foot network connection cable. That's the one I made to be longer.

The only drawback so far is the "sub-stream" resolution provided to the tablet and smartphone. While it is recording in 1080, and sending "full stream" to the PC, the resolution is dumbed down for the smartphone and tablet, likely due to the huge amounts of data being transferred and the limitation of a cell phone connection. What I would like to see (and the customer support lady via telephone tried to help while setting up my DDNS (in case a pc or smartphone I want to use to check my system doesn't have FLIR Cloud)) is to give the user the option to alter the refresh rate instead of dumbing down the resolution. The reason for this is not every connection is via the limited cell phone service; sometimes I'm connected via a fast wifi somewhere. I would rather have a clear picture (like I get on my PC of the system) that only refreshes every perhaps five seconds than refreshing it realtime and having less than the resolution capable.

All in all this is a superb product. The night vision provided by these 1080 cameras is spectacular. The NVR fan is noisy; perhaps it could be bigger and run more slowly to quell this noise. If it won't fit on the small dimension if it's bigger, place it on one of the larger dimensions (top or bottom). No reason not to have a perfect product when the change required is so minor.

I'm so very pleased I bought this system. Thank you, Lorex.

Best choice ever! We have been looking for a long time, and when we found this system, we made the decision. Best decision ever! We have been intimidated by the install process and all the cables to run, we are seniors and it is tough to get to places for cabling. So we called a local tech shop and they agreed to install this for us, very very reasonably I might add. We did all the ground work and by the time the installer came all he had to do was go up in the attic and pull about 20 feet of line thru (we could have done this on the outside with pvc to hide it but did not think of that) Any way, it was simple and after seeing it, realized we were perfectly capable of doing it ourselves. Set up was a breeze and the POE made it very very easy because you do not need extra outlets to plug in cameras. Quality--stunned the installer, who has a different line of products they normally sell. It was so simple to set up and begin using (minutes literally) Only issue we had was not with Lorex equipment, but with the local cable company, seems they do not now anything about port forwarding and all that so were unable to get our leased modem/router combo to work, we simply changed it back to our own modem and router and we are fine. Now we do not have to pay them for their equipment either, double win for us, we are secure and images are impeccable. Installer was really impressed so that said volumes (and he had never seen or done this brand system before and said it was better than what he installs in local businesses) Win one for Lorex!

Lots of great features, but the user interface is a little rough around the edges, it's sometimes difficult to find certain options. The mouse is junk, sometimes it doesn't click and sometimes it double clicks, so do yourself a favor and buy a good one. Note that a MS wireless mouse works good. The default video output is set to a computer resolution (not HDMI 1080P), so when you hook up your new NVR to your 1080P HDTV, you get no video. You have to find an old VGA cable to connect the NVR to your TV, go into the menu, and change the video output to 1080P, then switch your TV back to an HD input using an HDMI cable. The instructions should have mentioned that. The split screens work great except the one that's x8. It doesn't show any of the cameras except the main one. Clearly this model has firmware issues. The biggest problem is the motion detection does not work at all. I got an RMA number and returned the unit for a replacement but the new one had the same issue. Customer Service and Tech Support are extremely nice and seem knowledgeable, but after walking me through all the settings, we still could not get it to detect motion. So I returned that one and got a third NVR sent to me. That one also would not detect motion. Now Lorex is trying to figure out why every unit does not detect motion and I really hope they figure it out because I paid a lot of money for this system not to mention all the time I spent installing all the cameras. It seems this "new model" was not fully tested before they released it for sale. If they can update the firmware to make it work properly, this would be a really nice unit. By the way, like everybody else noted the fan is quite loud, really not suitable for your family room.

Coming from the eco line this a nice improvement in the interface, the control, and of course the image quality. I do have to take one star for the unstableness of the android app. I also have the app for the iPad which is less buggy, but still has it's issues. Also have this in a network closet in a hallway and the fan is loud as stated in other reviews. If it needs that fan size to not overheat and be reliable then I will deal.

I have the hdmi run to a splitter then to 1089p monitor in the kitchen and a Sony 4k tv in the bedroom. Both images are incredibly clear both for day and night. I purchased from Costco and for the price point this is a great unit.

First week in service and working fine. Placed in garage as it is noisy. Excellent picture quality. I agree with the green yellow issues noted by March 10 reviewer. I too am color blind and didn't know there were different colors until reading his review.. which explains why i couldn't find what i was looking for on the screen! Another down side is that the HDMI cable wont work unless its hooked up to a 1080P monitor. I had to use the VGA cable because I hooked it up to a 58 inch plasma in garage... that isn't high definition.

Overall very happy... Installers stated that the cameras and system were very good quality for the price paid ($999 at Costco)

Very good NVR, easy to setup, easy to use.
The only problem I have is the color when searching the recordings. Yellow is for continuous recording, green is for motion.
I have trouble with colors so these two look alike and I cannot distinguish the difference. My wife says they are similar but she see the difference.
I am amazed, of all the colors that could have been used, why use these two colors? But that just shows you the lack of world knowledge these absent minded techs have that are designing these things. Color blindness is very common.

That is my only complaint.

I work for a private club that wants to ensure that it's staff and members are safe. We purchased the LNR400 series security system 2 months ago and couldn't be more impressed. After getting many expensive quotes from security companies to come in and install their systems, we decided to buy a system and install it ourselves. Thankfully, we had a person knowledgeable in fishing cables, as this was the most complex part of the install.
After the install, getting to know the system has been easy, thanks to the downloadable 175 page manual. It's been slightly time consuming, but the manual is easy to follow and well laid out. Even with the extra time spent learning the system, it is by far the right way to go if you don't want to spend $5,000-$15,000 on a security company. The quality is excellent and the motion detection setting makes checking footage quick and efficient. I would recommend this product to anyone for their home or business.

I've called tech support many times, but the people who Lorex hires are untrained and unable to fix the problems I'm experiencing. They are inconsiderate about the amount of my time they waste while they "look in the forums" for an answer to basic questions.

Bought this bundle from Lorex website (LNR4163 with 6xLNB3153B and 6xLND3152B) Price is on the high side compare with other brands, but I feel it worth the money. Good quality products easy to setup once all the wiring and external cameras are in place. The PoE makes the installation a lot easier with only one cable per camera. Managing software is full featured but needs time to get familiar where are the options for certain settings. Once the system is up and running, the fans in the main unit is running noisy. this is a common complain from the LNR300 and 400 Series. The FLIR Cloud connectivity is GREAT, just like the STRATUS from the LNR300 models that it connects from local PC, Mobile phones, Tablets in seconds. 3 simple steps made it happens. Although a few minor cons of this system, I still rate it a 5 stars product.

got the system from Costco when it was on sale. price was reasonable. installation took a while to set up. spent a couple of hundreds on extra material ie tubes, ,boxes to ensure wires are protected from the external elements. resolution was very good compared to 960 which my friend has. however, for a darker spot, the picture quality is extremely poor. just hoping that the camera will last as my friend has already lost few cameras in a couple of months after it's installed. looks like the cameras that comes with the 960 burns easily. hope that the extended warranty will cover cameras. :-). i have yet to see how the cloud works.

Pros: very easy to install. No worries about port forwarding. Quick boot up and sync all the cameras. Beautiful HD quality. GUI software is easy to operate.
Cons: 2TB hard drive fills up within 3 days if you recording in full HD (1920x1080) but this applies to any other products of LOREX or different brand. In order to keep 1 month back or so, you need to record in lower resolution.

Picture quality is very good compared to my older system. Software has many advanced features however there are a few bugs that need to be corrected; I still can't get SMTP mail to work and haven't received a response from online support. Nightvision seems to be about average. A couple of items to note; the included cameras are fixed focus and cannot be zoomed for the scene. Also, the display is initially set to a resolution that was not compatible with my hdtv. I had to log into the web interface in order to change it in order to see the UI. Overall, I am fairly satisfied for the price point but still need to work out several issue before I would rate this 5 stars.
