Q: What do I do if the Screen is Cut off on my HDMI TV or Monitor?

A: When using the Edge2 Series DVR with some models of high-definition televisions (HDTVs), the top or bottom of the screen may be cut off by the display. To correct this, you may need to download and install the latest firmware from the Downloads tab for the EDGE2 Series. See the instructions below.

Q: How do I connect to the DVR using a smartphone or tablet?

A: Click here for how-to-videos and download links for the iPhone, iPad, Android, and Blackberry apps. Please note that you must complete Step 4 in the Quick Start Guide (port forwarding and DDNS setup) entirely before you can connect using a smartphone or tablet.

Q: When I connect the DVR to the monitor, I see images from the camera, but the touch screen operation is not working. What should I do?

A: Make sure you connect the USB cable between the monitor and DVR. If it is still not working, power off the DVR, ensure the monitor is on, and then power on the DVR so that the USB is recognized.

NOTE: Monitors must be Windows 7 Touch compatible for touch screen functions. All Lorex touch screen monitors are Windows 7 Touch compatible.

Q: Why do I get a "USB cannot be detected" error message?

A: The DVR has two USB ports: two in the front and one in the back. Connect the monitor to either the front or back USB port. If you still receive an error, switch USB ports. If you have your USB cable plugged into the front USB port, switch to the back USB port.

NOTE: If necessary, power off the DVR. Ensure the monitor is powered on, and then power the DVR back on.

Q: What is the correct sequence for connecting the DVR and touch screen monitor?

A: To connect the DVR to a touch screen monitor:

  1. Connect all the cables:
    • Connect the HDMI or VGA cable from the DVR to the monitor.
    • Connect the USB cable from the DVR to the monitor.
    • Connect the power cord from the power outlet to the monitor.
  2. Power on the monitor.
  3. Power on the DVR.
NOTE: It will take 1-2 minutes for the DVR to automatically detect the connection to the monitor.

Q: Why am I seeing the same camera twice during split-screen viewing?

A: The touch screen monitor has the ability to "map" cameras onto any desired channel. You may have accidently mapped the same camera twice onto different channels. Mapping cameras gives you the flexibility to re-arrange the camera order on screen, which allows you to obscure the number or location of your cameras or hide the fact that an area is being monitored.

To change the camera that you have mapped onto a channel:

  • Slide your finger on the channel to open the channel slider. Slide your finger left or right to select the desired channel number. Release your finger from the screen to confirm the selection.

Q: Can I extend the length of the USB cable on the touch screen monitor?

A: No, the touch screen features will not function if you attempt to connect a longer USB cable to it. The monitor is designed to work with the included USB cable only.

Q: What are the default passwords for the system?

A: The DVR has different default passwords for local access (accessing menus on the system) and remote access (accessing the video over the Internet or a LAN). There are 3 pre-installed user accounts, with different levels of system access:

  • Admin: Full system access.
  • User 2: Limited system access. Can access everything except for the Setup menu and cameras hidden using Covert mode.
  • User 1: Minimum system access. May only view cameras live (except for Covert cameras).

The default passwords for local system access are:

User Type ID Password
Admin 3 3333
User 2 2 2222
User 1 1 1111

The default passwords for remote access are:

User Type ID Password
