I say great camera system with a ? as yes in one respect it is. This is my second system. the first one had a really small monitor viewing system. but it lasted maybe a year or two. this one now has a larger monitor which better for viewing. you can have it so it rotates each camera connected in sequence. it is a bit slow on the rotation but well. It is not really considered (in my opinion a high quality system) but hey it works for my needs. Until now. I have had this system for almost 3 years now. has served it's purpose given me the ability to keep an eye on my cats during the night, the sound quality is pretty decent. Has come in handy when on a few occasions I've heard a noise in the cats room (yes they have their own room) and also a few times I heard them crying or meowing differently and I was able to check they monitor to see what was going on in the room. most of the time it was them either playing or a simple fight. However there was once where one of my cats had a seizure and I was able to see that and take him to the vet early next day. Another time was the cats got into a really big fight and one was injured, was able using the monitor to determine if medical attention was needed and yes there again. the system allowed me to be able to step in immediately and take care of what needed to be done. so yes I would recommend this product.
What I find disappointing is that lorex must have removed my first review on this camera system from 2013. SAD.. but going forward the only thing I don't care for is that the systems don't last more than about 2 to 2 1/2 years! the cameras yes the monitor NO. and unfortunately you have to replace the whole system. as here I am needing only the monitor but will have to purchase the whole system all over again. I guess if you were to break down the cost by the years owning it may make sense cost wise but really I would like to see it last longer than 2 1/2 years.

Update: I contacted customer service about the problem with the battery of the baby monitor. They were very responsive to my complaint and began the process of replacing the item. In addition, I was also contacted via email in response to my previous post. I was told that the product that I have has been discontinued. YET, after sending them my proof of purchase, they promptly responded and sent me an equivalent model. All of this occurred within a week of my original post (that includes receiving the replacement item)!!! The replacement works beautifully and the battery lasts as long as advertised. Thank you! I am very happy with Lorex customer service!
The cameras work very well. The first time we used the monitor the battery died after 20 minutes. The amount of time it worked while not plugged in continued to decrease. Then the back of the monitor began to puff out. This was due to the battery puffing out... Which seems pretty unsafe. I purchased a replacement battery from the company and the replacement lasted around 10 minutes after being fully charged and then unplugged. Do not buy this product unless you want to have it plugged in all of the time, running the risk of the battery exploding.

After reading the reviews and doing my research I choose Lorex and this camera as the perfect set up for our house with the new baby coming. Out of the box the set up was great, the app was decent, and everything was great. After a few months the battery went down hill fast - like 15 minutes and it was dead. No big deal, although for $400 it kind of is a big deal especially in this modern world of batteries. But moving on. The next 10 months that time reduced and the app stopped connecting. then we were off warranty. Thats when the picture stopped transmitting and we only had sound. Ok still a monitor. Until the sound failed. So now I have a $400 waste of space. Also they said the range was good for the base, I would say the furthest out I got it to ever work was 30 feet (10 meters). I bought this because I work away from home and nothing makes you smile like your own kid. I can not express how disappointed I am in this product and I do not recommend it to anyone. Save your money, get a normal monitor, we chose the Motorola wireless portable set up which works about 500 feet of range, take your old cell and download a monitor app and use that for video, and save a ton of money.

This monitor worked great at first, and but the battery stopped working after just a few months use. Customer service is excellent with Lorex and they sent a replacement within a week. After that, we had an issue with the base. Again customer service was great, sent us a whole new unit and camera.Recently, the battery on the new unit will not hold a charge - it has to constantly be kept plugged in. Im thinking there might have been a battery problem with this unit at some point which was a pain but yet again, customer service is helping me with no problems on their part.
When working properly, there is no better camera ut there for the money and rest assured that if a problem does arise that Lorex will help you solve it swiftly and get you back on track.

I really liked this monitor (until my son threw the camera, breaking it). I was able to see him, hear him and monitor the temperature in the room. I also really liked the music that I was able to play from the monitor. When my son would wake up, I would turn the music on, and more often then not, he would fall back asleep. I wish the range was a little bit higher (as in further distance). When my son would nap, I would work in the yard and I had to keep the monitor directly under his window or it would cut out. I was unable to visit with a neighbor in front of my house and stay "in range". We used the Skype feature a few times, but without audio it just didn't really fill my needs. Overall, a great monitor though. I'm contacting customer support after this to see if I can get the camera repaired :)

We bought this monitor for our first child last year. It's been a great monitor with a clear picture. My favorite feature is the temperature setting. The monitor has cut in and out since we got it and doesn't hold a charge very long. But it hasn't caused too much problem, it still has been a good monitor for us.

I purchased the Lorex monitor in December of 2013 and haven't really had a problem with it until now. The sound stopped working on the monitors end, but Lorex is already trying to fix it. I use the monitor daily, even now with no sound because I can still see my baby. All in all, I have been satisfied with this monitor.

Unfortunately, this monitor worked great at outset, and then we had a connectivity problem with the adapter after just a few months use. They sent a replacement, but the connection is still finicky and the unit will not hold a charge - it has to constantly be kept plugged in. Not very happy about the performance. My son isn't even 2 yet and I bought this when he was a few months old.

Having said the above, the video (both nighttime and daytime) on this unit is excellent compared with the other brands that we initially bought.

I really love this product. We have 2 grandchildren that we watch regularly. I bought an additional camera so we could have one in each of their rooms. I did have a problem with the battery in the monitor that over heated, but I notified the company and they sent a new monitor out to me right away. We also use the cameras to monitor our house when we are away. The wireless feature was easy to connect to my iphone and works great.

We've used this monitor for the past two years and have been fairly happy with it - clear audio, clear picture. There are lots of additional features that we don't use (lullaby, intercom, recording). My only complaint would be that the battery life degrades after a couple months. Recently we looked into buying an additional camera vs buying a different 2 camera unit. We ended up returning all the other units we tried because they didn't perform as well as the Lorex unit.

Love our new baby monitor!

It has all the features we were looking for plus some. The only complain I have is its range isn't as far as I would've liked it to be.

I would definitely recommend this monitor to others.

I don't miss any sleep having this monitor by my side. I also don't have to rush right in to see why he is crying and make things worse once he sees me. This camera is amazing. I also have the pan tilt cameras and can watch my toddler play in his room like a big boy now.

I am very disapointed with this product. Before I go on telling the problem with this monitor, I have to say that the cameras are very good. We never had problems with them. The are clear and reliable.

The monitor, however, has a serious defect. It shuts down on its own at any moment. Far or near from the cameras, indoor or outdoor, battery fully charged, it shuts down with no warning. It's worrying when you are in the bassement or outside. You are not always starring at the image. Sometimes we just put the volume on and do what you have to do around the house... But the other day, I was outside. The monitor shut down on its own, with no warning or signal. After about an hour outside I needed to go indoor to get something and I realised that my baby was crying loudly. I ignorer how long hé was crying for... I felt very upset for my baby crying and angry I couldn't rely on the monitor. I do not trust it anymore.

I wrote to Lorex several times. They answer quickly to my inquiries, but they just keep on sending me a new monitor each time it starts shutting down again. It is my fourth one (if I count the one I first bought). I am very tired of that whole thing. I wanted to exchange for another product as this one has a serious issue on ALL of the monitors. They refused the exchange (or upgrade, as they call it). I had to ask for an exchange within the first month I bougth it. We just let it go at first because we thought we didn't charge the monitor correctly... But We obviously did as the charging light gets green when the charging process is complete.

Finally, my advice would be: Stay way from that product because it is a serious issue for your baby security!!!!

On the LW243 the view on the monitor is great during the daytime. Night time not as good as I expected but once we have them fixed on the subject I think it will be better. I did not believe this one had sounds but it does have ocean, bird sounds, and one more. That is better news then I expected.
When you order on line and make a mistake there is no way to contact Customer Service. So I did do the ticket once before and again this weekend. Hopefully, Customer Service will be easier to get in touch with this time. On my first order the one guy did not even know anything about the product at all. But when I asked to speak with someone over him that guy knew a lot about it. I want to continue to buy from Lorex for I like the picture on the 3.5 in which seemed smaller that 3.5 on the actually screen. I think the whole parent control is that size. I will comment on that later. It still has a great picture during the daytime and I like taking the parent control around with me. I have 2 cameras on the parent unit in which I have in scan mode. I love this about the product. Enough in where I ordered another LW243 for a baby gift for my daughter. I did not know they were called open boxes. Only had going 3 days so I will fill you in 3 weeks from now. tonight I rate the product

I'm not only pleased with the specs of the monitor and two cameras, but the customer service was very impressive. I wrote in about the charger cord breaking, and was sent a replacement timely. I also figured I'd mention the kickstand on the back of the unit broke, and was just told a replacement one is on its way. I will look to Lorex in the future for any additional product needs, and also continue to recommend this company to friends and family.

I really appreciated the ability to monitor my sleeping baby. I really appreciated the pan and tilt camera and it was the main reason I bought the Lorex Wireless Video Home Monitor with 2 Cameras (LW242B). One of them was able to be controlled remotely. One draw back is that my screen died and I ordered a new updated version and this systems cameras would not work with my new version :( The night vision is pretty good and that is a great feature!

This baby monitor is amazing! It was a great surprise, because I did not know the brand before getting it. It has temperature settings in Celsius, night vision, pretty much everything I wanted in a baby monitor. I am not a tech person, so I do not know much how it works with skype and all that stuff.. One bad thing is - the sound it not clear, it is kind of "weird" sometimes and out of the blue, the image became blurry after 12mo. of use. Hopefully it will be cover by warranty! But I still would recommend it for a 1st. time mom!

This unit performs as promised. Clear video, great sound. Only fault is battery doesn't last for the advertised time. We have been lucky to get 2 - 3 hours out of it when new. Now less than an hour. Hopefully they will replace camera or battery under warranty.

I previously owned the Summer Infant brand baby monitor. The sound wasn't great and picture went bad after about 6 months. I'm glad I switched to Lorex. The 3.5 inch monitor has a great picture. The room temperature and two way audio are great features. I researched a lot of monitors before making my purchase. Lorex proved to be the best bang for your buck.

I love the ease of the set up. Right out of the box it was as simple as plug it in, turn it on and press a couple of buttons to pair things up and Bam! I was up and going. We bought this system as a tool to help us in the caring of our mother who has dementia and lives in an attached apartment. We Love all the camera features especially the ability to pan and tilt. The temp reading is also a great tool to have so we can monitor all her rooms for comfort and the talk feature has saved us many a trip back and forth.

There is a negative unfortunately that I have to add.The WI-Fi has given us some struggles. It took a few calls to the Tech Support folks to help get my Router and monitor set up however when I tried using the Adroid AP to connect with my work WI-FI, I was disappointed. The connection kept freezing and disconnecting and tI was using the low video resolution setting. I have hopes this will improve over time.

The Tech Support folks are very good however be prepared to sit on hold for a bit. Also, don't try and call to close to closing time, I called in 40 minutes prior to close and sat on hold for almost an hour which extended 15 minutes past closing. I thought surely all the calls in the Que would be answered before they shut off the lights but that was not the case, instead a recorded message came on telling me the support was closed and essentially I wasted an hour..Not a happy camper!!!!!

All in all we are happy with the product and thankful for the peace of mind it brings!!

I absolutely love Lorex monitors. I am a mom of two and received my first Lorex as a gift for my first. It gave out after over two years. I knew I needed another Lorex when baby #2 arrived. I love that with my care n' share i am able to add cameras. I have one in each of my kids bedrooms. My favorite feature of the camera is by far the temperature gauge that displays for each bedroom. Knowing the temp in the bedroom allows me to determine how bundled up each kids will be for the night. Super cool! I haven't tried the remote monitoring but I'm sure it'll be just as neat. The battery life on the monitor last longer than my previous camera. I can go almost all night before i have to charge it. I try not to leave it charging all night. The range on the monitor is pretty far. It has an antenna that pops up when you go a little further. Love it. I highly recommend Lorex monitors!

A Great Baby Monitor

We are very satisfied with our purchase. The picture and sound quality is pretty clear. A great feature is the night light and the monitoring of room temperature, also the ability to talk to the baby through the monitor. And the pan tilt is neat.

Our family has been using the LW242 for about 2 weeks now. First off the price was awesome during their black friday deals. We purchased the kit with the LW2400 monitor and two cameras. Overall we are very happy with the product.

First off the shipping was very quick. I received it 3 business days after my order was placed. Veryimpressed since it said 5-7 days. The quick start guide said the camera with it in the box wasalready didnt connect so i had to re-pair...not an issue, only takes 10 seconds. The user manual is clear and concise and does a good job with pictorials of the buttons and what they do. The camera is very clear and the night vision is clear as well.

The volume is pegged out on our monitor. Others say it is real is, and it wont pick up if our daughter is babbling very well. But if she cries or asks for us, it is loud and clear. That fits us well as that is what we wanted it for, so it serves its purpose well. We usually shut the video off at night so that is a great feature. If she starts making noise i just flip it on and make sure she is just talking in her sleep.

We just moved her to a big girl bed, so the 2 way talk feature works great. If she gets out of bed i use the intercom to nicely tell her to get back in bed. The IR LEDs do emit a red glow when viewed head on, and my daughter sees it, but i told her its a night light so it doesnt bother her. It might bother some kids though.

Cons...I looked at the user manual before purchase. The picture did not show external tabs to hook it up to the charging dock like the LW2401, so i didnt purchase it. It DOES have the charging tabs so purchase the external dock if you have the $$ because the stand is clumsy and can get knocked over easily. I wish it had a way to lock in the outward position. I plan to purchase a dock and spare charging cable so i am not always moving the cable from room to room. Battery life has been great so far. We can go longer than 4 hrs with it so we are very happy. The display seems bigger than 3.5 in so it is very easy to see a wide field of view.

I like the screen options for a single camera, or scan between the cameras on a 6 second interval. I just wish it had a split screen option to view 2 at once, but you can only select the quad camera view. Not a biggie, we keep it on sequence and scan between our 2 kids.

Setup was very easy. I had it going in 5 minutes of getting it, including mounting the cameras. Overall a great product from a company that specializes in surveillance. 2 weeks into it and very happy with the purchase. Would recommend to a friend or family, and you dont have to work at NASA to set it up and run it. Thank you

This is my second attempt at adding a review... Hopefully it works this time.

I have a love/hate relationship with this product. I can't seem to turn the auto mute off. I contacted customer support and got a bit of advice, but nothing I hadn't already tried.

My handset also stopped holding much of a charge. Sometimes the battery will last a while, other times as soon as I unplug it, it begins to flash needing a recharge.

I LOVE the auto-mute option, but hate that it always seems to be on. My kids are on the opposite side of the house, so I really need to be able to hear them at night.

I LOVE the big colorful screen, the record option, the temperature reading, the built in nightlight, and the music options. This monitor really has it all. I can see EXACTLY what they're up to day or night quite clearly. Which reminds me of the amazing talk-back feature. Best. Idea. Ever.

The auto-mute is really my main concern. I just wish it would be on when I want it, and off when I don't...

On the good side:
1. Great video quality
2. Big screen
3. PTZ camera options
4. Night light is nice

On the bad side:
1. battery life is poor - doesn't even come close to 4 hours w/video (maybe 3)
2. Audio from LW2401AC1 camera terrible (w/volume on camera and receiver @ max), I can hear it better w/o the camera in the room (just down the hallway).
3. case is too slick - makes it difficult to hold
4. LW2401AC1 cameras don't include the rechargeable battery pack (my old LW2003 for half the price had it built-in), and it won't charge normal NIMH or ni-cad batteries.
5. Rechargeable batteries are expensive - $30? These should be no more than $15, or included w/camera
5. PTZ camera doesn't include wall-mount
6. Slow to startup (give up the splash screen, please)
7. Built-in stand is flimsy and doesn't lock open

I'm waiting for support from Lorex to respond - so maybe it will improve.

Great Baby Monitor!

With a new one coming soon we decided to upgrade to the Lorex Live Sense series. With a two year old on the move we needed the added function of the PTZ camera with the standard camera. The built in thermostat is a great feature and is actually very accurate which allows us as parents to not worry about the temp. in our sons room since we can see it on the monitor. I give this product 5 STARS!!

Costumer service/Tech support is great as well!

This monitor works great! We bought it for the church nursery so that mom could walk around the church after the service and visit without worrying about her baby being unattended. it works great for our needs. Parents have been playing with the different features and are estatic that we purchased it for the church.

I went from a summer infant monitor (older version), which was a great monitor as well, but this one is much better (summer infant has gotten better also, but a few features drove me to this one). I love that you can see the room temperature. I have two kids in the same room and have two cameras; one monitor that moves (for my toddler who gets out of bed) and the other for my infant (in a crib). The pan feature is perfect for my toddler, she can hear it move and looks right at the camera, which kind of creeps her out, but then she knows she is being watched. I love that I can talk through it, it was also a little creepy at first for my toddler, but now she knows that I am there and when she goes to bed she says " I call you when I need you" and points right at the camera. I like the idea of being able to see both kids at the same time, but then the audio doesn't work. The scan feature is good for this, but since my kids are in the same room one audio is really only needed, just wish I could see them at the same time and hear them (not a huge gripe). My biggest and really only complaint is the battery life. The video portion really eats the battery, so we have to turn this off if its not plugged in and even still it will only last about an hour before it tells you in needs to be plugged in. This is a bummer when I am working in the yard or hanging out side not near a plug. A nice feature for being outside is the added signal strenth with the pop up antennae. It's nice that it is out of the way and pops up because most of the time it's not needed (inside the house), but it really adds distance when it is used. The negative reviews on the audio my not understand one of the features of this kids sleep with a fan (as do my husband and I) and the audio will dim down the ambient noise, so you don't always hear the static. At first I thought the audio wasn't working either, but realized it was just so that you don't have to hear the constant background noise. The audio does work very well when your child or any noise in the room fluctuates. I can hear my child turn over and a door to the next room over open or shut (it's that sensitive). As for the music, I used it a few times for my toddler before the baby came and she kind of liked it, but it has a very digital sound and like I said she sleeps with a fan, so when we do use music its more distracting. This feature might be better for an infant/newborn, we haven't tried it with our infant becuase our kiddos share a room. Overall, I would have only taken off half a point for the battery, but this is feature that is pretty important.

I think this product is great, the screen is clear, the option to turn off the screen at night and having it go on only if the baby is making noise is genius! We had an older Lorex model that got dropped and broke, so we upgraded to this one and were not disappointed.

My only complaint is that I wish I could turn the volume up just a little bit more on the monitor. Sometimes, even when the baby is crying, it's a little hard to hear. My previous Lorex seemed to have a wider ranger, but this one has a secured connection, which I can certainly appreciate!

We love being able to see our baby while monitoring. This product has given us that opportunity. It has some great features like being able to talk to my baby, play music & record some of the special moments. However it does have a few of the features that I would say it needs improvements. Like the sound volume on the monitor needs to be higher. (Better quality speakers), battery life on the monitor is low, & the on button on the monitor sometimes it wigs out. (The screen will turn on & off a few times) but I will just switch the button to off then on again & it solves the issue. Overall it has done it's job.

We would recommend it to a friend.

My wife and I bought it so we could see our first grandchild, who lives in another city, and it is great! Setting it up was a breeze and after the initial confusion over how it works over the internet (sic 'Cloud') it has been fantastic! The only issue we seem to be having is that we lose the connection, but we can get it back fairly quickly and easily.

We have had this product for over a year and love the fact that we could add an extra camera when our 2nd child came. We were always having to move our old monitor from room to room and it did not have video capability.

I would recommend this to a friend and did!

Just picked this up last week, and not a single complaint. The system works great, with fantastic reception. The lullaby and temperature features are a pleasant add on. Would recommend to any and all friends. The Skype feature is an excellent addition as well.

I ordered this video monitor to use at our new home for our playroom and son's bedroom. It was so easy to set up and and quality of the video and sound is great. I wish I would have gotten one when our son was born 2 years ago. This is a must have for any new parent or parents of small children.

This monitor is so awesome! The night vision is so great it is way easier to see the baby on the monitor than it is when I go into the room. It does flash out of range pretty often, so the screen is dark, but this only happens for a second so it's not too annoying. I haven't really gotten to use the skype option or the talking options much yet but the picture is such high quality I would definitely recommend this model! Just to let you know, I assumed the mounting kit would be included with the monitor and camera but it's not. You have to purchase it separately. We looked at a lot of monitors and read a lot of reviews before picking this one and I am really happy we got this one. I plan to use it for a long time and feel it was a great value for the price.

.I was looking for a decent Home Security System for my Apt-House. I live in a nice neighborhood. However like anywhere nice in the USA there are exceptions and my complex is no different. Some neighbors are strange, malicious and outright nasty. This characteristic is passed down from adult to their children. So, a security system was in order. The Lorex wireless system is easy to operate, place and use. My wife secured the Skype account in a matter of minutes. I only had it two days now, but I love it. I plan on adding two additional cameras. Best buy for the money, I researched this for about 3 weeks before I ordered it, it was an excellent decision.

Haven't had a chance to really use it yet as baby is not here yet, but just playing with it this seems like an awesome monitor. The picture quality is great. I love the temperature control. The option to add more cameras is awesome and there is one that has remote zoom and control to move it. I may upgrade to that camera. The talk feature is awesome so I can talk to her as she gets older. So far so good.

Pros: the sensor is great - it only kicks on when something is actually happening. The picture quality is great and we can easily see the whats going on in multiple rooms.
Cons: the battery does not maintain it's charge. After a couple hours I can glance at the monitor and it has turned itself off. I wish there was some auditory warning letting me know it needs to be charged.
Even with the battery issue I would recommend this monitor.

What a genius video monitor this is! Let's make this simple:

Temperature and temperature alert system (now that's cool)
Talk back to the baby without having to get up and go into the room ("go back to sleep" or "momma is coming"
Lullaby music for distraction

Unfortunately there are a couple cons. I wish the sound was louder. I have another video monitor from a different company and that monitor volume is way louder than this one. And the reason this is important to me is the fact that I am hard of hearing. And when I take out my hearing aids at night, I literally put the monitor next to my head on the pillow so I can hear the baby. The other con but not a big deal to me is the color is not clear. It is more black and white. And I wish the monitors range can expand a bit more.

Otherwise, great product! I am thankful. I would rate this 3.8 out of 5. :)

This was a great choice for us. I love the expandable option. We can see our lil' one fairly well and use the 2-way talk button. It was fairly simple to put together. Overall we are pleased with the purchase.

When my baby monitor arrived, it worked great out of the box. When we got ready to go to bed that night, the handheld said "out of range." So we switched the power cords and everything was okay again. Until the morning when we saw that the handheld was now dead and wouldn't turn on. So my husband and I figured out we have a faulty power cord. Three calls to customer service and days of waiting on return phone calls later, we still do not have a working power cord. Twice I got through to "Level 2 customer support". The first time I received a call back a day later. I'm still waiting on the return call back from the second call through.

If the product worked, I would be happy to write a better review, but unfortunately we aren't even getting one night's use out of it. We are returning the product tomorrow. Good luck!

Loved this monitor when I first received I had previously owned model CJ-LW2002W and loved that one as well. However, I have only had this monitor less than a year and am already having a few issues with the product i.e. shutting off without warning, screen become scrambled and low audio. I am currently working with tech support to see if these issues can be resolved. Hoping so as I love this monitor and all the features that it offers.

This isn't the original baby monitor my husband and I registered for, but my mother in law saw the one we wanted and found this one with the same features but better reviews. My husband got this all set up and has enjoyed playing with all the features before our baby is even born. I especially like the clarity of the picture when the light is off in the room. Last night, we even watched the nursery from the garage. We even set it up so that we can Skype into my son's room and watch him when one of us isn't home. Great product!

This camera system is great, even for someone who is not so technical. The setup is so simple. I love that the sound is muted until it detects noise, so you dont constantly hear background noise. The picture is much clearer than most baby monitors and it has every feature you can imagine. I did have a problem with the screen, but Lorex is replacing it under warranty.

Great product, the picture is very clear. The set up was very easy except for the Skype feature (wrong product? Couldn't see the camera we have on this list). I couldn't get my PC to recognize the camera, which was the whole point of buying this product. I have to phone the help line so this may be resolved. The help line is only open during regular business hours, which isn't convenient for those of us that also work.

However, I love the monitor and being able to see my baby to know if he's just crying for a second and will fall back asleep or if he looks like he's up for good.

A great buy!!! My wife was very impressed with this unit. I like the pan/tilt feature and temp sensor. Peace of mind when it comes to keeping an eye on my kids. Only complaint is the screen on the monitor is not the true color, but night vision works really well. Battery drains fast from the camera. But over-all a good product.

Good Overall Baby Monitor

The overall features of this Baby Monitor are great. The color picture in light is good and the IR night vision work well. Sound is a little delayed, but the quality is good. The alert for sound works, however it can be difficult to get the sensitivity set correctly. It hears the sounds of doors shutting and noise throughout the rest of our home and alerts the monitor. The wireless distance is sufficient and works approximately 100' through the block exterior walls of our home. My only real complaint with this system is the battery life. Once the monitor is unplugged from the outlet, it will last for approximately 1.5 hours. Overall, for the price and the quality, I would recommend this product.

Love my monitor

We are very happy with our purchase. We have now been using our monitor since Nov 2012. The original monitor we received did not have good battery life and would die in 1 hour. But Lorex customer service was excellent and quickly shipped out a replacement that has worked excellent. I love that you can view up to 4 cameras at once if you want. As a mom of two my favorite feature is the scan mode wich allows me to monitor both children at once. The monitor scans every camera every couple of seconds and will activate the camera it detects sound in. This was the main feature I was looking for and which many other monitors lack. Would recommend to anyone looking to monitor more then once child or for home security.

Great Video Monitor

We've had this monitor for 8 months and it's great!

58 out of 63

I recently had my 3rd child, and it's ironic that now is finally the time that I broke down and bought a video monitor. All I can say is I don't know how we survived without one.

I first purchased a Summer Infant brand duel monitor, but I didn't like the picture quality and the fact that you couldn't talk back to the child. That was one of the key perks I was looking for as we have too many stairs to climb. I can just talk to my children without getting up!

Another great feature is that it scans from camera to camera, so I don't have to manually flip back and forth. It does that for you, allowing you to turn off the video to save battery life, yet still listening in on noise in each room. I've got the stationary camera in the infants room (since he is confined to the crib) and the tilt/pan camera in my older toddlers' room. Now I never have to wonder what they're doing, and scold them immediately when they get up from bed. ;)

The Skype feature is neat, but I'm still figuring that one out. I love that I can purchase 2 more cameras in the future and still use the one parent monitor to view all 4 screens at one time. I would not hesitate buying this product again. Very happy with it!!

Ok, straight to the point.

I use this to monitor my 2 year old while he is in his playroom. And in a few months, we will use it to monitor his new born brother.

1. The day video is superb. Some people complain that the color isn't vibrant. Although it is true that colors in the day do not show up well, this isn't an issue for me because I use this as a baby monitor, not survalliance. I don't need to distinguish colors.

2. Night vision is fantastic. This was the most important feature for me because I am anticipating using this to watch our infant sleeping and I am comforted to know that at night I will see him as clear as a bell.

3. Others have complained about the sound. I have no issues with the sound quality. I read nearly all the reviews for this product before I bought it. And if you read on, you find that the sensitivity setting on the camera works opposite than assumed...with the higher sensitivity creating lesser sound and vice versa. So I just set it accordingly, and no problems.

4. The talk back mode is great and I use it to answer my son while he is in his room. The volume for that function is on the camera. I had it set too high too begin with, so it frightened him. But after adjusted, it isn't my voice of "GOD" booming at him anymore and he than recognized me.

5. The music feature works. I don't use it.

6. The monitor is very easy to use. You don't even have to read the manual to work it. The picture is clear. We have three cameras hooked up to it and I love that I can view three in quad mode or each individually. I also like that I can recieve sound for all in quad mode. The monitor is light weight and small enough to carry around.

7. The temperature gage is wonderful. We live in an older home. Ours sons playroom has a western facing exterior wall and can get quite cool in there. It is nice to be able to confirm the temp. It seems accurate. I haven't brought in another temp gage, but when the temp indicates comfortable tempratures, it feels comfortable in the there.

8. It is still winter here, so I can't attest to the range of this unit yet. I will update when we get back to outdoor living. We are on a farm so we are outside a lot. I hope it lives up to my expectations on that.

9. It doesn't interfere with our wifi AT ALL that I can tell, which is a plus being we have satellite Internet to begin with and that can be slow sometimes. It was nice that it didn't interfere.

We have an 8 month old, and have tried a few monitors to look after him. I was somewhat used to audio only monitors, but once seeing video, this is simply outstanding. The picture quality if very good, you can absolutely see what he is up to, and if he is okay. The camera can be moved around, so if he moves in the crib, you can follow him. I have not tried the skype feature, but that could be useful in sharing his exploits with grandparents etc.

The construction quality is good, everything seems solid and well built. AS of this writing we have experienced no issues. This is a good choice, especially if you have need for two cameras, say one for bed at night and one for a day time nap location.

This monitor is great to keep your eyes in your baby and follow all of his/her actions, especially when he/she is sleeping. I like the two-way talking and the possibility to connect four cameras, including a tilt camera model. The setup and installation are very easy and you can see the image through the Skype.

What's great about it: Easy set up, view multiple cameras at one time, provides temperature of room, records video

What's not so great: The sound is incredibly low even at the max. Basically when there is a sound in the room it alerts you by making a beep

This camera is very easy to set up and to add additional cameras. The camera can also run on batteries so you can move it to where ever the baby is or where older kids might be playing which is a nice feature.

only down side is that the sound is incredibly low even at the max. Basically when there is a sound in the room it alerts you by making a beep

A Must Have!

My husband and I have been on an aggressive search for the perfect Baby Video Monitor that suits the needs of our growing family. After reading countless product reviews, purchasing and returning 4 other systems, we started to think that what we wanted did not exist - and then we tried the Lorex LW 2401 Live Video Monitor System - it seems to have everything we want!

* Expandable - Supports up to 4 cameras

* VOX (Voice Activation) - Lorex calls this feature "Scan". The video AND sound go into a power saving mode, the cameras scan

the rooms for noises and if there is a noise detected, the video and audio is activated. This is a huge feature for my family

and was the reason why we returned all of the other systems we tried. In all other systems we tried the VOX feature could only

work on one camera / baby at a time. Which was just silly to us - we wanted to hear either baby if one of them made a noise,

not just one!

* Mute! This is a huge plus for me. I am such a light sleeper that on other systems the lowest setting is still too loud for me

* Noise Indicator light (on the left side) - key for when the unit is on mute

* Low battery indicator flashes on the screen! It’s not an annoying beep

* Monitor has a stand (this model has a stand AND a docking station for charging - an extra bonus)

* Multiple options for viewing your little ones:

-Single camera, sequence (rotates between cameras every 6 seconds), Quad mode (views all cameras at the same time)

-Video and sound on at all times

-Video screen off, but sound on

-Video screen on and sounds off (Auto mute)

* Auto Mute - after a period with no noise, auto mute is activated to eliminate white noise

* Sleek design

* Large screen (3.5")

* Volume buttons are on the front of the monitor unit (not in a menu)

* Two way talk feature

* Temperature gauge

* Date and time on screen

* "Video" button turns on / off once pressed, but doesn't seem to work in Scan mode. Not sure why that would be

* Doesn't tilt, pan, zoom like some other units in the price range but not a deal breaker for me because it has so much of

everything else we need

Features I have not tried and probably won't use:

* Capture, store & share with micro SD recording

* Remotely view from anywhere through Skype

* Alerts

* Alarms
