I was able to get this for a fantastic deal for cyber monday last year. I was worried it wouldn't be good quality, but it's fantastic. The only issue is that when you turn the camera on, it makes a loud beep. So, make sure you turn it on before you put your baby down to sleep. You can also turn the screen off and just have the volume on. The buttons light up for how noisy it gets, so if for some reason you can't hear it, you can see the green lights turn red.

I ordered the baby monitor from Lorex customer service, and received it in a week. On the first two days of using it, I experienced a couple of problems:

1) Handheld monitor says "camera out of range" - I live in a small semi-detached house, and set up two cameras in each of my daughters room located on the second floor. I went to the basement to watch tv with my husband. The monitor would work periodically, but sometimes the screen would go blank and a message appears stating "camera out of range." I called technical support to complain about the issue, and was told despite the range of the product being 100ft, there are too many walls or storeys in my house. Ok? so now what?

2) Handheld monitor beeps once randomly - this is a problem because we have a dog in our house, and every time the monitor beeps (which so far has been at least 5 times in the past 24 hours), our dog starts barking and wakes up the baby. I complained about this issue to the technical support, and was told that there is a synching problem with the cameras, but was reassured that the handheld monitor quickly synches up again to the cameras no problem. So am I suppose to put up with this annoying random beep??

With 30-day return policy, I am considering looking elsewhere for another baby monitor.

Great sale price. Really like the two way talk feature and good video quality. This was extremely easy to set up and pair the three extra cameras and the camera that came with the monitor was already paired with the monitor for immediate use. The only thing I wasn't happy with was not having the feature like the other lore baby monitor I had which had a micro SD card to take pictures and video of the camera you were currently viewing

I have a climber...and she's little, so I worried about her getting hurt. I have this in her bedroom and when she's starting to put that leg over her crib, I can press talk and tell her to go back to sleep. I also tried the motorola video monitor and I couldn't tell the blankets from the baby, it was so blurry. With this one, it's so clear and in the daytime, I can see colors in her room just fine. At night, I can see her moving and I can see her face clearly. This has been a great video monitor. I just wish I had discovered it earlier with my first baby!!

This is the second Lorex baby monitor that I have purchased. The first monitor worked very well and the warranty service with the first one was so good that when the first monitor died (and it appared that they had stopped making that one). I purchased this monitor. I bought this monitor from the Lorex website, it was a very good price, it arrived quickly and it seemed to be a very good deal. It was much less expensive than other competitors.

Pros: The monitor works well most of the time, there were four cameras that came with the monitor, I can see the images well, I do not have the constant background noise coming through the monitor, but the monitor does seem to pick up the noises that I would want to hear. The monitor and cameras seem to be fairly easy to set up.

Cons: The monitor that I recieved has a red line in it. I have tried to call support a few times, but after waiting I have not gotten through to someone. Eventually I hope to get the monitor fixed, but for now outside of the red line it seems to work fine. Every so often the monitor will loose connection with the camera. At first this bothered me and it seemed to happen more frequently than it does today. The difference that I can figure out is that I now have three of the four cameras connected versus just one. If the camera further away and set as camera 1 beeps to tell me that it is disconnected then I hit the camera button, cycle through the various cameras and once I get back to 1 it works just fine. At first this happend with some regularity (maybe a few times in a day), now it happens a few times a week if that. The sound is a bit more tinny than our old monitor and I liked the docking feature of the old monitor a little better than this one. I find that sometimes the tripod stand (which I am sure was a change made from the older model due to customer feedback that customers did not like the fact that the monitor, when not docked, was either on its back (where the speaker was), or sitting on it's face (which is where the video monitor was). The new design is good in theory, but the tripod stand thing that came on mine is not very stable.

This is a type of technology in which as consumers we have very high expectations and if you look at other monitor reviews it seems as if none of them are perfect. With that said, this monitor does what it says it will do for a reasonable price and seems fairly reliable. Also, if the customer service (once i get through) is similar to the old service from a few years ago, then the company will stand behind the product and help customers if something goes wrong.

Great product! Works well in our three-story home, even with a camera on the third floor and the monitor at ground level. The only hiccup I've noticed is that camera connection occasionally gets lost when in VOX mode (active noise sensor), even with a camera that has good signal strength. Maybe that particular camera's wireless unit is a little weak, time will tell. It's only been about a week. Ball joints for the camera also seem a little fragile, so I try to set them right the first time and not plan on messing too much with them. The stand to camera connection could definitely be more substantial, as could the monitor stand/belt loop. That being said, definitely don't have any regrets at this point, and it was a great buy when we got it at the discounted price (with free shipping, too).

This is a great baby monitor. We just had twins and needed a multi camera system. You cannot get a better price. The picture and sound quality are great.

My three issues are as follows:
1) It seems to go into scan mode on its own sometimes. Lorex could not tell me why and are looking for a solution.
2) The mounting brackets are not very good, but you can get them to work.
3) The talk feature scared the crap out of my son. There is no sound level adjustment, so it is very loud.

With that being said. It is a better product than most monitors out there and its a great value for the money.

awesome!

this is the 2nd video monitor I've bought this year as both my daughter and son had their first children. They both love their monitor, say they are easy to use. And it's great for me because they take pictures with it and share them on facebook!! so even though I can't be there in person, I get to part of my grandchildren growing up. thanks for a great product.

Works great!,

I used this for something that was a bit more unconventional. I had some sort of critter that was wreaking havoc in my front yard digging up things and I couldn't figure out what it was. A security light would sometimes come on, but by the time I went to look whatever it was would be gone. I set this baby monitor up as sort of a security camera and it works great! I love having the screen so that I can really keep an eye on whatever is happening. It would be great for any room or area where you just want to keep an eye on what is going on. I love it.

Lorex Video Monitor

Bought this camera to keep an eye and ear on the playroom. We mounted it from the ceiling easily. We get a pretty clear picture of the room. If sound sensitivity is turned all the way up you can here static, but there isn't a need to have it up that loud. Otherwise it's clear. The night vision works great, you can still see everything going on very well. The screen is small, but they are on most of these monitors. The only downfalls would be. You have to study the manual to figure out how to change the setup. The other would be the stand is flimsy, not the unit, but the stand, so it falls over easily. I am very pleased with it for the price, it serves its purpose well. I can here them clearly, see them clearly, and if I push talk I can tell them from the "voice in the camera" to settle down. Great for a mom of three.

Definitely better stuff out there

So we had a video monitor that broke and we needed a new one, I love the concept that you can talk back to the child even though there is no volume control when you do that. (wish I could turn it down because the first time I did that hit scared the crap out of my child because it's very loud) the biggest problem I have is it loses signal really easy, like when I touch the screen to check on him, if I leave his room I lose signal, i can't be in the room that is wall to wall to baby's room or any other room except the nursery with out losing signal. I bought this so I could use it at night when I was sleeping in my bedroom, not the baby's bedroom. But it won't work. (and our bedroom is 22 steps from the nursery, so not far at all. (house is 900 square feet and still can't get signal from 35 feet away from each other even though there are walls between us it should have worked. Who has a house that is all open floor with no walls or doors???) really wish my old monitor was still on the market. Would love to get my money back and get a different monitor but no clue how to do that.

A blessing to all care givers!

I LOVE this baby monitor! It was crazy easy to set up, and has worked perfectly from the very beginning!

I am a grandmother who not only cares for the little ones, but fills in as a homeschool teacher with the older kids. It's such a blessing to be able to concentrate on schoolwork and relax knowing that I can see everything going on with the babies.

It does sometimes flip between color and b/w, but I don't see that as a major issue. I absolutely LOVE the night vision! Who hasn't wanted to check on the kids without having to open the door and wake them?

This would be a great gift for the grandparents who keep the kids over the weekend!

Excellent baby monitor

I purchased this baby monitor when it was on sale as a Gold Box deal [on amazon.com]. After seeing all of the negative reviews from people who also purchased this product as part of the Gold Box deal, I was very eager to receive the product and test it out for myself. After the first 3 hours, I'm very pleased with the product.

The monitor did beep when I first used it, but that was just because the battery was low. It took me 2 minutes to figure this out. The problem is that the battery indicator looks full when it is actually almost out of battery. It is only full when you see the multiple bars.

Pros:

1. Extremely clear color picture. Resolution and picture quality was excellent.

2. Low light and night vision quality was excellent.

3. The reception quality was perfect. I have Wi-Fi and a cordless phone system and there were no interference at all.

4. Look and Feel of the white plastic on both the camera and the monitor was great. It reminds me of my white iPad 2. I completely disagree with the other reviews that it felt like cheap plastic.

5. The stand for both the monitor and the camera works well. It had a simple, minimalist design. Again, this reminded me of the Apple products that I have. This over all "look and feel" was the reason why I purchased this monitor over the others.

6. VOX (voice activated sleep mode) works exceptionally well. The monitor and volume is turned off until the camera picks up noise. The monitor was completely quiet. I used this for hours, and there were no beeping sounds like some reviews stated (again beeping occurs only when the battery is low. Keep it plugged in at night and you're okay. You can change the sensitivity of this, and in my test it picks up the slightest sound, which cases the monitor to turn on. I like the camera button that easily turns on the monitor for a short time when it is in VOX mode.

7. The buttons on the monitor was extremely intuitive to use. I have to disagree with the other reviewers who had a difficult time. It took less than 2 minutes to figure out all of the features on the monitor without even reading the manual.

8. Compared to my first video baby monitor 6 years ago, this is a huge improvement in technology.

Cons:

1. It can be a bit difficult to get the right angle for aiming the camera over the crib. Lucky for me, I was able to put this on a tall TV stand that was converted over to use in the baby room.

2. The intercom feature was poor quality because the audio on the camera isn't very good. This is where I would agree with the other reviewers that this is more likely to scare the baby.

Overall I give this a 5-star review because it has all of the features that I'm looking for, it works extremely well, and it reminds me of the iPhone/iPad with the clean white design.

This is my first product review on Amazon, so I hope it helps others who are concern about the negative reviews on the product.

Value goes up as price goes down for this monitor set

Most everything about this set is solid, the picture is better than expected (especially the night pic), the talk feature is great for parents or even if you're watching your dog in the yard. Everything feels pretty well-made (LCD monitor is a bit light, but we'll see) and this is that rare product that not only does what it should do well, it will surprise you with other uses (watching boiling pots, or birds in their nest, or or or...).

The main negative is that the battery lasts only four hours on full and seven on save-mode. After a while those numbers will be much lower and that's just too little time for a full night's sleep/not sleep if an outlet isn't nearby. The ball joint is also a little finicky but tighten it hard and it should be fine. But other than those things this is a good little unit that's bound to end up in a lot of households.

And if Lorex is smart, they'll market this as the Ultimate Baby Shower Gift! Which it pretty much is. Though they really do need to provide longer battery life. But as the price keeps coming down on this (dropping about 10 a week for a month now, presently at 120), the value does go up. For less than 100 this would be a very good deal indeed, but it's still a fair price right now.

Gives Me Peace of Mind

This was almost too easy to set up. Take the camera and the receiver out of the box, charge them and you're good to go. They automatically pair up. The reception is very clear, both audio and video. I have the camera set up in my daughter's bedroom, with the USB charger permanently connected, so I never have to worry about charging it. The receiver, however, I move around the house, depending on where I am, and charge it during the night.

I have two children. A three-year-old boy and a nine-month-old daughter and oh how I wish I would have had this the first time around, because I was constantly checking on my son. If anybody was a Nervous Nelly, it was me.

But with my little girl, I can just look at the monitor while I'm busy around the house or at my computer and just seeing that she's alright and safely asleep gives me more peace of mind than I can say.
