The LNC 204 cameras I have are good when their working. If there is a problem you are forced to deal with rude customer service minions after you've had the pleasure of spending literally hours on the phone with their technical assistance people. In my case it took over 2 months and 2 replacement cameras to get one to work. They really don't care about the customer at all once they have your payment. I would definitely consider another manufacturer.

The options are very limited, almost non existent. The firmware/software has little to no features. Setup was ok, except one camera is defective. Doesn't stay connected over wifi. The app is junk, constant crashing on my android. Very disappointed in this product. Only pro is the picture quality of decent for price.

As soon as I received this camera, it took less then 10 mins to set up the camera, all my configurations and downloading the ping2 app. I work out of town, so I needed a camera that I can view from anywhere and with NO false motion/sound trigger sent to my email. This camera worked great! I didn't receive any false alarm trigger while I was away for a whole week. My previous cheap camera that was a different manufacturer, I kept on getting false alarm several times a day, even when I moved the camera to several different locations. Anyways, this camera has a good resolution during the day and at night. I can view live from anywhere without being disconnected or video buffering problems. I would definitely recommend this camera to anyone!!

The camera and the company are horrific. The experience has nothing short of gut-wrenching from the beginning.
First, the cameras that I ordered (via telephone directly with a Lorex rep) were either back-ordered or out of stock, so Lorex sent me a completely different camera. And then to compound the issue, it was shipped to the incorrect address.
After being on hold, several times, for over 30 minutes each, I called FLIR's coporate office. (BTW - FLIR is the parent company of Lorex).
Now the wrong product problem was resolved. I received my 3 LNC-204s. Setting them up is indeed relatively easy however --
- the manual included on the CD is not the correct version; there is no "automatic" way to learn this
- there are certain things about the camera that are completely weird (and unacceptable).
--there are playback controls when you are reviewing a playback stored on my PC/Ipad/Android; there are no playback controls when you are reviewing a playback stored on the camera's SD card. Why? Makes no sense......
-- I can easily delete a file/video that is stored on the PC/Ipad/Android by simply selecting and swiping. Unfortunately, you can't select multiple files for deletion -- but that is minor compared to deleting files on the SD card. It takes four keystrokes to delete each file. Why? why is there a difference in deleting files from the SD card vis a vis files on the PC/Ipad/Android. Makes no sense.
So you have the same camera using two different storage locations doing things differently -- ugh! horrible.
There are more significant issues, but I am out of room.

Got cameras up and running without much trouble. Online videos were very helpful. I have noticed, however, that it takes a lot of light for a color display. I thought one of the cameras was bad because the color would switch to B&W and back until I increased the light level. At night, I have to have a lot of lights on in the house to get a color picture. I planned to use these cameras to see what was going on at home while on a trip; so I hadn't planned on leaving that many lights on. Guess I'll be looking at a B&W pic. Knowing this will help with camera placement though.
Also i noticed one camera has no temperature chart selection - don't know why.
I also can't get the L-view program to let me enter camera info. I'm using a Macbook Pro. The program runs and the screen comes up; but when I select either the folder or camera tab and the box comes up to enter either the folder name or the camera info (camera name, number, etc.) I can't enter any info in the box. Cursor won't blink in the box. A friend who also has Lorex cameras said he had that problem too but doesn't remember what he did to get it working. Cameras work fine on my iPhone though. I didn't see any info or help files on the L-view program. I'd also like to know how much data I'm using on my phone when I look at the cameras. I like these cameras and I'm sure I'll get these issues resolved and for the price I think they are a good value.

Easy to setup once you go through the settings a couple times. I use them for security in my barn and garage. If a door opens, I get an alert right on my cell phone. The only thing I would like is a snooze feature if you see the alert and want to disable it for an hour or two. But still, great cameras and the wireless part gets nice distance.
vsimple to configure, the only problem is the day night sensitivity need ample light to switch to day mode.
Unbelievably difficult to set up! Still haven't got it to record on SD card using PC, Mac, or iPhone! Keeps asking for password, it won't take my password, I have to get a new one...and it still won't work!

I have mixed views on this system. First the positive: relatively easy to set up and when it works, it works fine. But there are some negatives. (1) the temperature sensor seems off by sometimes 10 degrees or more -- usually on the low side. Since one camera is for a baby, this is a problem. (2) Sometimes the camera(s) just stop working and need to be disconnected and plugged in again. So reliability is "iffy" at best if using it for security. (3) L-View is TERRIBLE on PC. Not intuitive at all. E.g., There are at least 3 places to modify camera settings/params: By right clicking a camera in "camera list", by right clicking a camera ID in "search" (who can remember what number belongs to what camera since you can't rename cameras in this list) and by clicking the "screwdriver" icon on bottom of L-View. There's absolutely no sense to it. Multiple places to set passwords with no clear idea "why". I could go on and on--perhaps worst interface I've seen (and I've seen many). Also, when you "record" a video using L-view you should be able to change the default folder on Windows these recording go...alas this does not work .. couldn't get it to record on a d-drive (data) disk. For this I would give "0" stars. Finally, just had a problem when a camera became unresponsive (only power light is on). Tried unplugging etc but it wouldn't work. Tried tech support and couldn't tell if it was connected or not to wireless network. Did a camera "reset" and only the red light turned on (was expecting the camera to reboot -- go back to factory settings or something). Finally, I did another camera reset and tried connecting, and it did -- I had turned off LEDs, but the reset did not reset this, so it seemed to me the camera was dead. BTW--the tech person I spoke to didn't recommend I try a reset and reconnect! So, bottom line, a 3-star review is generous -- only because hwen it works it's fine.

So far the product has lived up to its advertisement. I have installed one of the two cameras, and I have not installed the second on because the cable to connect the camera to the power supply is black, and I have just started to search out a white cable that is a little longer. A black cable run on a white wall is a dead give away.

After a month of trying EVERYTHING, I can not make my LNC204 or LNC226x play anything BUT sound back on my Galaxy S5 android phone. This phone has been out for a year or so and is advertised as android compatible but there still is not a fix for the video problems. I can monitor a live feed with PING, but I can not play back anything off the micro memory card with my phone. If you have an IPhone, as my kids do, it works flawlessly. On the good side, the cameras, LNC204 and LNC 226x, are beautifully crafted and operate well on a PC with L-View and L-Play. The video is crisp and clear and the sensitivity on both is amazing. Wish they would have had a fix for those of us with android phones. If they had, these would have earned the highest rating.
The camera is easy to set up and has good picture quality. The problems I have is changing any default settings such as alarm notifications. Contacting customer support was a waste of tome as I never received an answer to my questions. Phone service was much better, it only took 2 calls and I have it mostly working the way I want. Finding answers on the web site is also difficult. I am still trying to find the program to download onto my pc since I am told that is the only way to change some of the settings.
I just purchased the 3 pack IP camera system and it is by far the best IP System on the market.
I have tried other camera systems WI-FI and IP and none compared to this camera.

I bought the lnc226x. It performed as stated. I had to get a android tablet to view remotely since there is no ping app for a windows phone. Is there a plan to have an app for windows phone? I plan to use these cameras for my home service clients. Very easy to setup if you have some networking knowledge. I couldn't give five stars cause not compatible with windows phone.
The camera works very well. Good picture and easy to operate. Use on my android.

What confused me was the article "Cloud Connection Frequently Asked Questions" in the Download section. I finally realized (after a couple hours of fruitless configuration and looking for what Cloud Configuration is) that this article has nothing to do with this camera model.
I think the only way of looking at the videos is either from the Lorex Ping app or the L-View PC/Mac app. Cannot view using a web-browser to view. Again, this is not clearly stated in the product manual or in the quick start guide.

THE REALLY INTERESTING THING IS THAT LOREX IS BASED IN LINTHICUM, MD, WHERE I LIVED FROM 1981-84. I WORKED AT NASA SCI/TECH INFO FACILITY AND WAS THERE FOR THE FIRST SHUTTLE LAUNCH. I REALLY LIKED TAKING THE BUS INTO BALTIMORE ON WEEKENDS AND EXPLORING. SO MUCH HISTORY! SO DIFFERENT FROM CALIFORNIA! JOB WAS SORT OF DEAD END, SO I EVENTUALLY HEADED BACK WEST.
I COULD NOT FIND A WIKIPEDIA ENTRY FOR LOREX. WHY DON'T YOU WRITE ONE.
This review is from the first 4 days of installing/operating the camera. Naturally, a later review will be done on once the camera has been "time tested". Initially, I found the LNC204 to be a very good product. Somewhat disappointed in not being able to get a wider view (horizontal) with the camera; need to have the camera connected via ethernet in order to change settings; dropout wifi connection (needs access to camera/connections/settings via mobile app); would like clearer video. I do like the video motion setting and the responsiveness of the camera to images. Further evaluation will be presented at a later date.

I purchased the LNC200 series from BJ's.com at a very good price. Set-up on the Ipad was quick and easy for the two cameras. I am only using them to view live and not doing any recording. One camera is not always available but I am not sure if that is related to my router. After a few times of trying to bring it up it comes back on-line. Temperature monitor seems to be about 5 F less than actual, but as along as it is consistent I'll be happy as I monitor our house while away somewhere warmer. We'll see how it works when we are away for the first time and I access them. Camera does very well in low light conditions. Viewing angle is somewhat restrictive.

Update to my previous review:
A couple of days after I posted the first review which I stated that I liked the functionalities and easy setup of this cameras, both of my cameras stop working thru wireless connections. Both were ordered as a pair and they broke down about three days apart. The first one - I called into Lorex support and after spending about 2 hours walking through the scripted troubleshooting step - which I had already done, the support guys said they going to send me a new camera. Three days later, my second camera died just like the first one. I am pondering if I should call in and spend another two hours on the line.
The kink is - since I liked it so much the first four days of the camera fully functional - I had ordered another set. I will have to consider returning all the cameras back to the the big warehouse store where I ordered them from.
I still like these cameras for the easy setup and functionalities but It's unfortunate that these cameras are so unrliable. Two cameras broken down in less than a week of operation.
I am giving 2 start this time for the functionalities and the easy setup and of course for the unreliability of the cameras,
This review is for Costco Lorex LNC72B HD IP Wireless Camera 2 pack.
Wired as well as wireless network connectivity.
Camera video quality viewing very good, especially on an IPad with Lorex Ping HD. The quality form the laptop was very good too. Slightly less video quality on Android devices like Samsung S3, Tablets, etc. but still good.
Picture in the e-mail very clear and can identify an individual if face not covered.
Placed it inside my house pointing outside through a glass window and changed the settings to be "Outdoor". It still gives great picture quality.
A 32gb microSD card store data for almost 20 days per camera video based on the setting that I have for both cameras.
The Ping software has lots of settings / options to choose from so there is a learning curve to get used to all the settings.
Unreliable Lorex Ping software / connectivity so hope it works when I really need it. Hope the upgrade patches would make it work better.
Setting the camera was tedious inspite of me being in IT.
before buying this product, I research other brands as well and based on all the reviews and specs I made the decision to buy these Lorex Cameras. However, I have been having connectivity problems from day 1. To test the signal strength I did a test by placing the camera about 2 feet away from my wireless router and about 40% of the time it dropped the connection. When I placed the camera in my living room aprroximately 25feet from the wireless router it dropped the connection about 75%.
Based on the specs it seems that have great features but it cannot perform to the specs.
the good news is that I bought them at Costco and after 4 months they will go back to them.
I will try Belkin cameras even if they have lower reviews than Lorex.
I couldn't get the LNC204 up and running. The instructions aren't particularly clear, and I tried several options to connect my phone to the camera. Just wouldn't work.

I bought 2 LNC200 from Costco.com. Overall I'm satisfied with the cameras for the price, $250.
However, there are a few things that I'm disappointed with. First, I can't schedule a recording or set motion recording directly to my PC. I think I can only do it with an SD card in the camera or a NAS. Second, there is no fast forward on replay. You can only skip forward by double clicking the hash mark on the timeline and there's some issues on the time stamps (on the hash mark when you point the curser to it and on the replay screen).
Again, I'm satisfied with the cameras considering the price.
Having previously bought and returned a D-Link DCS-2330L HD camera, I can testify that setting the LNC204 is a breeze. While I was unable to setup the D-Link camera to send motion detection video to a NAS or an FTP Server, I was able to set up both in less than 10 minutes on the LNC204.
While recording on the SD Card only supports low resolution videos, you can easily record HD quality video on your NAS or on your PC. Therefore, I use the SD card as a backup media, in case my NAS would go down.
While the software provided has some shortcomings (L-Play provided does not allow export to AVI format, etc...) it is far superior to Lorex's competitors offerings.
Very happy with this purchase. And if you come visit, smile cause you are on camera.

At first intimidated by all the abilities I found that setup was very easy and the online manual was one of the clearest written I have ever encountered. Every question I had was answered in the
manual, for example, How do I turn off the LEDs to make the camera less visible. All in all so far
I am very impressed with this purchase. I may actually order a couple more for security in an elderly relatives home.

I ended up buying the 2-pack of LNC204 cameras from Costco, for $250. Setup was very easy, and had no problems connecting to my wireless LAN (Linksys), where I disable the SSID broadcast, but the Lorex setup had no problem finding the network and configuring the cameras. Out of the box, one of the AC power adapters was flaky. I called Customer Service and they sent me a replacement adapter right away. For $250, you can't beat the HD picture quality and the feature set that comes with these cameras. The ability to have 2-way audio is great, as well as sounding off an audible alarm. I've also setup motion detection alerts, where I get an email with a photo attachment of any pictures the camera snaps when motion detection is enabled. I've also setup streaming video recording to my PC, where I can later play back the video on the Lorex PC client software. I primarily use these cameras to keep on eye on the house and kids when I'm away. I'm thinking of getting another 2-pack of cameras to extend coverage...and 4 cameras is the max you can connect with the LNC204 models. All of this stuff, plus HD, for this price point is a no brainer.

I recently added 2 more of these great cameras to complete my home monitoring system and I couldn't be happier with the results. To date I have not experienced any problems of any kind, I'm flattered that several friends who have seem my system have asked me to help them install similar systems in their homes and businesses.

The cameras seem to be working really well. I'm impressed with the quality. They were a royal pain to get set up on my wireless network, but work well once configured properly.
One small complaint that I have is regarding their power cords. They have a USB plug on the end, which would lead one to believe that they could be plugged into most common USB ports and powered via that method. I purchased a small surge protector with USB ports to use specifically for our cameras. Apparently the amperage put out by the surge protector was a bit too high. When plugged directly into the surge protector it caused them to endlessly cycle where they would connect for about 3 seconds, disconnect, and then go through the whole process again. Once plugged into the USB adapters that came with the cameras (or my computer's USB ports) the functioned just fine.

The LNC204 Series is a great price, an easy install, and incredibly convenient. The free apps to view and control work on both PC & Mac, Smartphone to tablet. I got the two pack and again it is a great price for being able to monitor front and back door. I also have used the two way audio feature (very clear) and it comes with an audible alarm. The alarm isn't incredibly loud, however they geniously added an audio out to plug into any amp/speaker. I am also impressed with the night mode! The only downside with using the night mode by pointing it out a window is the infrared reflects inward and causes a glare (can happen with any cam), however it can still pick-up quite a bit if you have a outside light/motion light. You could mount it outside, but it doesn't state it is weatherproof-- so I wouldn't with 4 seasons, even if under a protective overhang. I also try to keep it out of direct sunlight as it heats up fast, and the thermometer lets you know (I shield it behind curtains/angle it). What a great product & a great price! Buy a 32gb micro sd with it and you are all set. Great buy :D

I have to say I am very impressed with this camera, I tried a Swann IP camera and the video quality was terrible not to mention the setup was terrible. I even double checked to make sure the video quality settings were on the highest setting. . The setup was super easy for this one compared to the Swann. It literally took minutes from the box to seeing video on my android phone and laptop. I haven't tried the micro sd card to record footage yet. Some people I have seen complain that it doesn't record it in the highest video setting. As this wasn't needed for my purpose of buying this camera it doesn't matter to me, could be a problem for others. The speakers and microphone on this camera are really great, I love how you can adjust them to be sensitive or not. The night vision it very cool, completely dark and I can easily see 30 feet on the camera. I wish the camera would switch to color with a little less light though. But I would rather see a clear black and white then a lesser quality of color. The video can be a touch glitchy, but I do have it on the highest video setting, not to mention its wireless to my router and wireless to my laptop and phone, No complaints! I haven't tried to motion sense for it yet. I love how as long as I have a power outlet I can put the camera anywhere in the house that Wifi will still reach it. FYI using this camera as a baby monitor.
I purchased the LNC200 first but returned them once I found these as I wanted the two way communication option. I have 3 of them around my home. Setting these up was a breeze and I love the fact that these are color HD and look amazing over my smartphone (Droid Maxx XT1080M). I have a handicapped sibling at home that I have always worried about when someone was caring for her if I were away...now I check on her all the time and am so happy to be able to both SEE and hear her.
The communication is like a two way radio...you can talk but then have to push the talk button again to turn off, in the lorex phone program, to hear the other person. There is a lag which means if they start speaking right away you may miss what they say. Just recently, however, the mic in her room stopped working. I have sent in a ticket to see if there is something I can do. Maybe I just need to disable the camera and reinstall. Regardless I love these things...GREAT for seeing what is going on around my home.

allow me to clarify;
among the features, this camera has remote view capability using their custom program on either a smartphone or a pc. in either case you get to choose the image quality in one of four resolutions:
of course you would always want to choose the highest resolution, why else would you pay the extra money to buy an HD camera, right? so far so good.
the problem is when recording to the SD memory card it will ONLY record the video in 320x240. that's right, in the lowest, grainy, can't recognize any faces resolution. what this means is that if you ever have to review your security video recordings, you won't be able to recognize any faces or any other details that would help identify anything. you may as well be staring through a frosted window smeared with grease.
when i contacted lorex support through their online form, they replied with a generic response and closed my ticket. this forced me to call them on the phone. the first person who answered the call tried to get me to change the resolution in the pc/smartphone app. when i explained i wanted to be able to RECORD video in HD, she put me on hold for a while and then introduced her supervisor. the supervisor explained that the recording capability was limited to the lowest resolution in order to 'save space' on the memory card. when i explained that i've purchased a 32gigabyte memory card specifically to be able to store plenty of HD video, she said it was still not possible. i then asked specifically if it was true that this HD security camera did not have any ability to record video in HD resolution and she agreed.
so it seems that lorex is selling an HD security camera that can't record in HD. this is false advertising. what good is a security camera when it can't record in the advertised HD resolution?
all of the reviewers giving this product high marks did not bother to test wether the recording was HD or super low-res, or don't even realize it.
i'm going to return this useless lorex low-res junk and get the samsung SNH-1011 IP SmartCam, at least it records in 640x480 and they don't lie about it.
Great product for the price. Took a couple attempts BUT easy to connect to iPHONE and iPAD. Works EXACTLY as described. Very pleased. Plan to consider adding another camera.

Follow upon my previous review.
If you read my previos review, I've been struggling with what turns out, still after getting my replacement, random crashes on now any of my cameras. Well after hours over days of playing with the setup, I found two settings that would make the cameras crash.
1. if the network has a hiccup or can not sustain high image quality/data rates, I am writing 4 cameras to a NAS drive, it will crash. In my case when I connect to it, it increases the data rate more. I turned my data rate setting for the image setting for the network down to 2 mb/s and lowered the quality, it stopped.
2. if you turn the LED lights off it also crashes randomly. Some times it work fine for days, but when it crashes from #1 above, it then crashes randomly from then on. I turned back on the light, sometimes, I have to save the setting multiple times and reboot. Now I just use a black electrical tape over the lights.
My real test I was to monitor the cameras continuously on my iPad for hours for several days. Playback disconnects due to crashes since I figured that out.
My wife said I was spending way too much time trying to debug these cameras, but I really like these camera. Now I bumped up my ratings slightly.
The Lorex support site needs a more useful FAQ troubleshooting tips page.
We purchased 2 of the VGA version (LNC104) of this unit for my sister, it went great. The camera had great image quality for VGA. We decided to buy four of this version for our home from Costco. Immediately we noticed that 3 of them were factory resealed unit, the other one was not. The installation went through ok. The image quality was much better when there is good lighting. In low light it did not perform as well as the VGA. Also, in low light it is in monochrome.The units has great features in recording and playback from NAS drive or builtin SD card. The one pain is there is no easy way to turn all the units off when we come home.
Now for the problems, one unit produced very noisy imagery after it is ran for several minutes. It was defective. Costco handled the exchange with Lorex without any hassles. Several days later we got a replacement refurbished unit. This unit turns out to also be defective, it will randomly crash and reboot repeatedly at time especially when the computer/iPad connects to it. After contacting Costco, Lorex insists we contact them in case we are doing something wrong. After 3 calls for a total of about 2 1/2 hours, they agreed to let us ship it back. We still haven't got the replacement unit.
The other 3 / 5 units works fine. The software seems to be buggy with the LNC204 but not with the LNC104. Until they work the bugs out on the HD version, consider the non-HD version for less hassle.

I found the setup very easy on the two cameras that I purchased. I used the PC setup procedures, then downloaded the Lorex Ping App to my IPhone and IPad. Both Apps worked like a charm.
The images are quite clear, even at night.
The one issue I had was related to the microSD card. The manual says to format the card first, but does not offer instructions for this operation. I called technical support (which too 20 minutes to answer) and asked if I could format the microSD card on my PC (with the appropriate adapter). I was told that was OK or I could format the card via L-View. There is no option to format the card in L-View. I went ahead and inserted the card (Lexar 32 GB) without formating and it seems to work fine.
Pretty slick little piece of technology. It installed and connected more or less as advertised, with a speed bump or two or three:
1. the unit's camera struggled to read the QR on the iPhone, so that took awhile - it might be easier if the camera was reading a tablet (see #3, below)
2. I struggled to identify the camera to the ping software (in my own defense, the model number on the box was different from the model number on the sticker on the back of the unit . Silly me: I used the number on the camera ... (note to future users: use the model number on the box - not the one on the unit)
3. and speaking of tablets, the app won't work on my kindle. after installing the Lorex viewer, I am baffled by the login instructions. perhaps it's just me, but how tough should this be?
i loved the idea of getting an email every time my dogs moved. WRONG! After about 15 minutes I had received 54 email alerts. Turned it off pretty quick.
I haven't yet figured out if i can get it to text me when the boys change position on our bed or bark at the UPS man. Is this possible? i know i can get it to 'ping' me (hence the name, right?), but the iPhone has to be on and the Lorex app needs to be open, i think. clarifications are welcome!

I bought 2 LNC204 IP Cameras from Costco. They are easy to connect wirelessly to the home network, and monitor from outside.
I like all features: monitoring Temperature, Listen and Talk two way audio ... I am not sure how safe is the video online. Lorex indicates it's very safe and not stored any where in the Cloud ?!?!?! I got to trust them....
The other issue is not cleared to me who is the super admin to maintain the camera settings, not 24 users can set their own camera settings without interfered the others ...

I picked up the 2 pack for a great deal (199). Excellent little cameras. I use mine with a laptop so I have no experience with a tablet or smart phone. Fairly simple to setup. Great features including e-mail alert, record to NAS, temperature alert and two-way audio - all of which can be tweaked to your own personal preference.
My only complaint is that the infrared light is visible during night viewing but other than that all lights can be turned off for stealth mode.
I will definitely pick up a couple more if that deal comes around again!

Bought samsung cameras at costco. Software was unreliable. Could not access cameras half of the time. Picture quaility just ok. Returned to costco.
Love the lorex ping. Picture quaility excellent. No problems accessing cameras. Much happier with these cameras.

Bought the LNC204 LIVE Ping wireless cameras from COSTCO at a great price. With my iPhone I used the Lorex Ping App to set them up. Very easy and quick.
I loaded the LOREX L-View software that came with the product on CD on my laptop and it found the cameras and provided another way to configure and view the imagery.
I wouldn't view the cameras away from my home network so I went on their support page (FAQ).
I downloaded the router config tool from the support section to get the port forwarding to work. Easy to load and once I added all the info the tool needed (outer model, admin user ID and password for router, IP address of the camera, etc..) the tool ran flawlessly. I disconnected from the home network and could access the cameras from Verizon cell service.
So far these are great cameras with lots of features. The motion detection, temperature alerts and night vision are perfect for keeping track of things at our summer house.
Looking at getting a pair of outdoor cameras next.

Ordered four LNC204 cameras from Costco. Super easy to set up....under an hour. At this point, I have all the basic functions tested and all is well. These are now my interior cameras. I recently moved the LW2232 wireless cameras to the exterior of the house working off of a Blackbox 2 DVR.
The IP cameras pulls up extremely fast on all my devices....iPhone, iPad and Windows 7 computer. No bandwidth lost. Alarm, microphone and speakers are all working great. Looking forward to programing the cameras to record to my computer's hard drive soon. These are great HD cameras. I highly recommend!

Excellent Camera! I can view my home from anywhere using my smartphone or my PC. The set up was very easy and very functional. I am happy with the picture quality as well. The product meets my need perfectly.
For a while now I?ve toyed with the idea of having an wi-fi enabled security camera that I could check over the ?cloud? on my smart phone. I was excited at the prospects offered by this Lorex cam: 1) quick & easy 5 minute setup, 2) Free smart phone app, 3) 2 way audio speaker/microphone, 4) Email & push notifications for specific alerts, 5) day & night view, 6) SD card support for recording.
Sadly my experience has thus far been far from easy and to this point I have yet to be able to connect with the camera to see if it?s actually even capturing anything.
When I received the camera, I pleasantly surprised by the very small amount of documentation included. In the box I found the camera, a stand, a power cord (which can also be powered by micro usb), a CD with PC software to install, an ethernet cable and a quick start guide in multiple languages. Scanning the quick start guide it suggested a super easy setup process?simply download the Lorex app on my iPhone, input my wifi address and then let the Lorex camera scan the resulting QR code from my phone. I tried it and received a message that my password might be wrong. I tried again with the same error. Again I tried and this time nothing happened. I unplugged the camera and rebooted my phone and tried again. Finally it claimed to have connected to the WiFi.
In the camera list on my phone I could see the camera in the ?local search? so I went ahead and tried to connect. I was told the camera was offline. I tried again and was given a nondescript ?failed? error message.
Not wanting to give up yet, I took the camera in to my computer and plugged directly to my router via the Ethernet cable. I installed the PC software from the provided disk and I tried to connect via my PC. I saw the camera in my local search and tried to connect. Once again I received either the ?offline? error or a ?failed? error or (more often) no error at all but no camera connection or video stream.
I went to the Lorex site to try and find a more detailed manual and some troubleshooting instructions. The site made it a little difficult to find what I wanted. The ?support? section didn?t really address my issues. I did find some articles about ?port forwarding? which I enabled in my firewall and on my router. I also tried completely disabling my firewall.
In the instructions I found that there exists a ?web configuration? page for the camera so I tried connecting that way. I found that I could connect to the camera via IP address without problem and that I could adjust a variety of settings there. So the camera was truly online and connected to my network but there was still no way to attach to the video stream (assuming a video stream is actually happening). I continued scouring the support pages for some time. I downloaded the Lorex software for my Mac to see if it had any better luck but it also could not connect. I tried setting up DDNS for the camera but that didn?t seem to help either.
I also tried connecting via our ?guest? WiFi at work as well as a ?Verizon MiFi cellular hotspot.? Neither network had any better results.
I have put in a support ticket to Lorex to see if they have any additional suggestions or troubleshooting tips. My wireless network is VERY standard. Basically all I have is a (fairly new) out of the box router connected to a cable modem and configured with a WiFi password.
As it currently stands I have a rather expensive piece of metal and plastic which flashes some pretty LED lights but doesn?t seem to do much else.
I am giving it a provisional 1 out of 5 stars. Hopefully their support team will be able to help me get it up and running, at which point I will gladly revise this review and provide a better score accordingly.
Easy enough to get a picture feed on my laptop at home but can't see either camera on my android smartphone or through the web. Back to Costco for an IP camera that works over the web.

Great product and really easy to install. I had 2 cameras running within 20 minutes after I received the shipment. I was impressed by the quality of the video under all light conditions. So far my only minor complaint is the inability to suppress the power light on the camera.as I can with the status LED. I never would have considered the temperature reading to be an important feature but now I'm really finding it handy. I'm already considering other uses and contemplating the order of additional cameras.
I noticed that the viewing angle from this HD camera (model no. MCNC200) is less than model LNC 104, even though it said the veiwing angle is 66 degree compare to 60.3 degree respectively. It's a little dissappointing.
The cameras seemed easy enough to setup from my Windows 7 PC. Had several issues with the cameras not staying connected, could not get the cameras on the camera list or search list in the Lorex Ping application for the iPhone or iPad. Created a ticket with Lorex support and they closed it telling me I had to call the toll free number since it was a Level 2 issue. I called the number and waited for 20 minutes to get a Level 1 technician who gave me another trouble ticket number and put me on hold for another 30 - 50 minutes for a senior level engineer. I gave up and will search the web for a way to resolve my issues.
I like the look of the cameras and the high quality is very good.
We now have a smart phone. We were able to quickly hook it up with our cameras. The picture on the smartphone is excellent. Having a temperature reading on the camera is also a real plus.
There are lots of applications for these cameras other than security,and we will recommend them to our friends. If you have a situation where you'd like to keep track of an older person, children, or a pet these would be an easy set up.The cameras can be placed anywhere you have an electrical outlet. Even though they are not outdoor cameras you can point them toward a window and get a good picture during the day.
We are very happy with our purchase at this point. The only issue now is reliability, but Lorex does have a good warranty to back their product
I just submitted a review, but forgot to mention 1 thng. The window sticker should come with the camera instead of having to buy them separately.
We bought 2 of these cameras through Costco at a good price, but have only had them a few days.
The setup for our wireless wps router could have been very easy, but the directions that came with the camera said to hold down the wps button on the router until the wps light lit up. That never happened. I found a video about set-up on the lorex site which had the person just push the button on the router and release it right away and then within 30 seconds press the wps button on the camera. That worked perfectly. Now that the camera have been set up with the router, if they are unplugged or lose wifi access, they will hunt for the wifi signal and connect automatically when they are plugged back in or find the wifi signal.
I then downloaded the L-View software onto my laptop. It was easy to install off the included cd and took no time to get the cameras on it. The cameras have a good picture, the temperature reading is a nice feature to have. As long as the cameras are in a location which picks up a strong signal from your router, the motion shown on the camera is fairly consistent with the actual motion in the room.
We also have a Samsung chromebook which we use when we travel. Lorex does not have an app for a chromebook at this point. I set up a ddns account through Lorex for one of the cameras to see if I could access the camera on the chromebook using it. I am able to get into my ddns account with both my laptop and the chromebook, which enables me to be able to change settings on the camera either computer. I am also able to get the camera display on the laptop. So far, however, I am not able to do this on the chromebook since it comes up that I need an ActiveX app to play it. I have tried one, but it still does not work. I have not given up, but it has taken time to get this far.
I cannot review the setup with a smart phone, since we do not have one at this point. I also have not tried the laptop at a location outside of our own home.
