Amazingly easy to set up....wireless security cameras have great resolution. Set up and placement of cameras took an hour and everything worked out of the box. I have had several Lorex system previously and this is by far the easiest and best quality of the systems. I have had little problems hooking up the remote app to view on my cell. The app was straight forward and easy to set up. Between this system and the quality of the product it would be difficult to have a better system for the money. My only con about the DVR is that the fan is periodically noisy.

I have tried numerous times to get new wireless receivers because lightning struck ours. I've been put on hold for over an hour each time. A couple of times I took the choice for a callback but no one ever called me back. It's been over a week. This time I was put on hold for 3 hours then cut off!!!! I'm finished with you!!!!😩😩

This was an incredible easy product to install, video is good and user interface is intuitive. However if you want to watch your cameras remotely, you either have to give Apple your credit card number for a free product, in order to create an Apple store account, or give up control of your Android phones' camera and microphone as well as your contacts to use the google play store. I cannot imagine why Lorex would not put the Apple and Android applications on their website, as it seems silly to give up the security of your credit card or your cell phone so you can use security cameras. The remote however works well on Windows without this issue. The jury is still out as to whether I keep these cameras, as the entire reason for them is remote viewing.

So far, my wireless system seems to be working well. Hooking up the hardware was easy once I figured out the mounting locations. The software, however, was very tricky to use. I called up Tech Support and it was an awesome experience. Jose stayed on the phone with me for at least 45 minutes to get my computer, iPhone, and iPad working. What he did was over my head, but he explained everything patiently. Hence, I was able to see 4 cameras and their respective viewpoints. The screen refresh rate was a little slow, but that's attributed to my WIFI at 50Mbps; I'm currently upgrading to 70Mbps, as I'm sure it will improve the refresh rate and my wife can watch Netflix without weakened bandwidth. Also, I had to move the transmitters roughly 15 feet from the wireless router to avoid interference. I must also point out that the DV700 recorder MUST be plugged in to an Ethernet Port; only the cameras are wireless...Back to the cameras... They are attractive, fairly easy to adjust, and capture a terrific picture. The night mode (or correct respective term) works like a champ as well. My cameras are mounted inside my house, so I cannot speak to its use outdoors, respectfully. Overall, I'm pleased with this product and I hope it stands the test of time...

Received the unit and installed it. Ne problem with set-up (I am fairly tech savy). Had one camera picture hang up, but after disconnecting and reconnecting camera from DVR it resumed working. The only problem I have is that the range is 40-50 feet from camera to DVR and I keep losing the signal. There is a brick wall and an inside wall between units. I wish they came with better antennas for longer range. The picture is great, clear and crisp. I am trying to find a way to improve signal strength without buying another product to do it with. Tried repositioning DVR but limited to where I can place it in my office.

I would have thought for this kind of money, you would get a manual with the product. I printed out 176 full size pages. I purchased extention cables for the wireless cameras and they sent me the wrong ones. Turns out i did not need them anyways. It took two weeks to get back my money. I sent back the unit because it was loud! It sounds like a bad bathroom exhaust fan. They sent me another one and guess what. No better still loud. I am stuck with it because i installed the cameras. I have to hire a technician to set it up because i found it way to complicated. I give it a 2 out of 10. The camera resolution was good that is why i give it any rating at all.

Easy to install, but time consuming. You still have wires to run, for power to each camera.
The channel frequency interferes with my Sony Wireless Surround sound for our TV. I had to run wires for the Surround sound speakers and not us the transmitter/amplifier to avoid the problem. It would have been nice if they told you upfront about this issue.

The cameras and DVR are fairly easy to use, good quality pictures for approx 100 feet. I'd give the overall rating a 4.

Placed a ticket for more information regarding when camera's would ship - Lorex closed ticket and sent 4 emails that they were looking into it. This was 4 days ago and still no information.........

I've recently purchased the L164W and after a day of research I've decided to cancel my order because of various issues about their products and customer service. When calling in to cancel my order. The customer service was horrible on canceling my order. It should not be this complicated to cancel an order a day after I purchased it. They charged my card even before the product was shipped and now I have to wait 5 business days to get it canceled and I didn't even get a cancelation confirmation sent to my email. ALL POSITIVE REVIEWS ARE FALSE. POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE! WOULD NOT RECOMMEND TO OTHERS. LOOK ELSEWHERE.

Purchased the L164W DVR and 4 wireless camera system three weeks ago.. The set-up of the DVR and cameras was extremely simple. With the system installed, connecting the system to the internet and mobile devices was easy as well. The total duration to install the project took approximately 1 hour. Determining the locations to mount and mounting the cameras took the most time. The video is clear enough is identify faces, but it is not as smooth as a wired system, but for my purposes the video feed is acceptable. The night vision works extremely well. I was concerned that the red IR LEDs would allow an individual to easily see the cameras, but unless you are in direct view of the camera, one will not see the red IR LEDs. Overall, very happy with the system.

I bought a Lorex system about 2 weeks ago. I took it to my computer expert to set it up so we could view the weather from one ranch to the home ranch. He set it up in his office and it worked great. I will be taking it down to the other ranch but I see no difficulties in that. The fellow who set it up said it was very easy, the picture was very clear and the directions were easy and clear to tweak it from a remote computer. I have been very happy with this and the ease of setting it up. I certainly would purchase another one. Also, the shipping was very fast.

I am currently trying to exercise my right to return the unit within 60 days and get my money back, but it has been a week and no response from Lorex yet even though I left their tech number my phone # and started a ticket on their website. This is not because it does not work but because the description is not accurate. In the description it says if the transmit distance is an issue you can install other antenna on the camera and receivers to extend the range, but in fact the unit comes with fixed antennas that can not be removed. So no extension can be done to this unit, and even though my application is much less than the stated transmit distance in the description it will not get adequate reception. So the description is misleading all the way around and for that reason I am returning this unit and getting my money back.

Bought this system 3 weeks ago because of 2 key features: remote view by smart phone and instant Email alert. It's easy to set up after reading the instructions online. The cameras provide clear view day and night. The recorded images on DVR are very sharp, and the hard disk can last long when it's set on motion recording only. The only problem I have encountered so far is the transmission of signals from the cameras to the wireless receiver is often lost, causing loud beep sound on DVR though the distance from the cameras to the receiver is less than 10 metres. The customer service promised to send me a replacement for the wireless receiver. Hopefully will get it very soon so I can put the system up running.

I really like the idea of the wireless cameras. Too bad I still had to run power to the cameras. The quality of the transmission is very good. The night vision is awesome. My wife is very happy about our purchase. I like the idea of being able to see my surveillance cameras via my Android. Nice.

This system was relatively east to install but then again I am a Techie. I had the 4 camera system up and running to my HDMI connected 720P TV Monitor by my Broadband router with multiple Wi-Fi Access points (802.11b,g). I connected my PC-Laptop, iPhone and IPad with monitor and screen capture (pics) relatively quickly after I registered my system with Lorex and created a DNS account. My daughter easily connected up her Android phone and was up and running in minutes. The video quality is as good as I expected for the price since it is not HD quality. The Night vision capability is great (better than I expected). This system is great as long as it is not active 100% of the time since it severely affects my Wi-Fi connectivity data rate. I typically turn off the complete system (including the two wireless 2x connectors to the DVR) during the day when I am using Wi-Fi or my wireless speakers. My only issue is when I have all 4 wireless remote camera connected, my Wi-Fi bandwidth dropped dramatically to the point of failure to certain Wi-Fi Access Point connections (I have 4 Wi-Fi systems on my property for coverage). Even though Lorex uses Frequency-hopping spread spectrum (FHSS) to move between frequency bands in the 2.4GHz to 2.48GHz Wi-Fi range, I could see some of my Wi-Fi access points drop out entirely as the FHSS kicked in. My Sony wireless speaker system absolutely dropped out since the FHSS wireless took over the wireless speaker freq range (Also uses FHSS). My recommendation for future systems is to use Sub-GHZ frequencies for wireless connected cameras. This will eliminate the wireless interference with Wi-Fi systems and wireless speakers. Additionally, the Sub GHZ freq will increase distance for the wireless cameras to be connected. Overall I am satisfied with the system for use when I am not on my property or during the night while I am not using Wi-Fi.

This surveillance system was relatively easy to install, and in the few days that it has been operational, it appears to be working as intended. It would have been nice to have an instruction manual included for the price, as having to use the Lorex website and making repeated trips to the locations where the DVR was set up was inconvenient. While I appreciate the need for a "green" approach to reducing unnecessary paper waste, sometimes an old-fashioned paper owner's manual is essential. Other than this minor complaint, I am thus far pleased with my purchase.

I'll be using this as a temporary monitoring system for my halloween yard haunt so it won't be in use year round, I found most home security systems don't have an option to hook up to a TV for monitoring (wi-fi/smartphone use only) so I'm happy to have found something that will work for me. I'm giving it 3 stars only because I'm unsure about the longevity of the system, or how it will work with my lighting, my only wish would be having audio, but thats minor.

There are plenty of configuration options for almost any need, but, unfortunately, the included documentation is light on details and the web-based manual is missing important setup information. For example, to configure the system to record based on motion alerts, I had to reference the documentation for another system on my own. And support was no help, as they closed the support ticket I opened without comment or answer.

LH040 - Eco series 4-channel system with wireless cameras - We have had this system for less than a week so far. Setup was fairly easy, we were viewing live video from the cameras very quickly. Each pair of wireless cameras communicate to the DVR via a wireless receiver which is hardwired to the DVR. The cables are not very long so you may need to place the DVR in a place to allow proper positioning of the antennas. The DVR also requires a hardwired connection to your router, so I had to install the DVR near my computer desk instead of near my HDTV like I wanted. (I have run a long Ethernet cable over to my HDTV.) The wireless cameras each require connection to power, they are each equipped with AC adapter with about 25ft of cable. So this may affect where you can easily mount the cameras without electrical work. It will take some time and electrical work to get all the cameras mounted exactly where I want them. Viewing the live video is the easiest to accomplish and works very well, playback of recorded video is the part that is lacking for me. As other reviews have stated the playback speeds do not seem to work and it appears to actually playback in slow motion. The search and playback options are slightly different between using an external monitor versus viewing from a smartphone or computer. I like the playback options using the external monitor because it provides the events in a list format. We also had some issues connecting to the DVR via smartphone, but I suspect it was due to trying to make multiple simultaneous connections, using one at a time seems to work reliably. This system is Stratus (Cloud) enabled so the DDNS setup is not required for remote viewing from the internet, but you will need to create an online account with Lorex and register the product warranty. Changing the camera recording options was fairly easy. You can setup the recording options for each camera independently or make them all the same. I had to do some research regarding the email settings, but eventually got that working. The email sends a single date/time stamped picture at some point after motion is detected, sometimes this captures what caused the motion and sometimes does not. (I haven't tried playing with the motion detection sensitivity setting yet.) An unexpected, but nice feature is a buzzer (alarm) sound from the DVR which can be set to sound when one or more cameras detects an event (motion). So far this system has provided everything as advertised and has all the features we had hoped for from a system in this price range, we are happy with it.

This is my first security camera system. Out of the box I attempted to read the installation instructions step by step. These instructions lack a lot to be desired to say the least. I had the cameras operating within about 30 minutes but couldn't get the included mouse and remote control to work. I also couldn't get the motion sensor to send myself an email. I contacted tech support and the person informed me that my satellite internet service didn't have enough upload speed to handle the email notification and most likely wouldn't allow remote viewing on my smartphone. The issue with using the included remote control and mouse is only available if you connect the dvr directly to a monitor. If you connect the dvr to your router and view it thru your computer and existing monitor, it disables them. This is not a deal killer for me. I have tried to view my recorded video on 8x speed and it will hang up but I can view it up to 6x speed and it works fine. The control panel is a little confusing but after playing around with it I have it "tweaked" the way I want it. Otherwise I am content with the video quality and am extremely happy with the IR (night vision) distance at night. Just keep in mind, if you don't have true hi-speed internet, this system won't perform at its best.

Like other reviews, instructions received were not for the model we purchased, was told by salesman video was 1080 since there wasn't anything on outside of box - it is 960, mouse and remote didn't work - tried different batteries (maybe this was a refurbished item), unable to change the date and time through the Ipad app - emailed tech support - did receive an email back after I returned the item, it stated we needed to call their support number, it did slow down our netowrk some but not huge amount, camera quality good

well, so far, it does not send any emails to me, i cannot fast forward to view playback, each second during playback takes 3-15 seconds or more, only after i download files to my computer can i actually watch what was recorded at real speed. yes, it was pretty easy to install and get it up and running, but it seems like it would be more user friendly if i could view what was recorded, in real time, before i decide what i want to download to my computer!

LH040 nice system not bad to set up once you figure out what the instructions are trying to tell you once you find the manual on line(should have one included ) yes you get e-mail notification of motion BUT if the thieves steal your DVR you have no record except what is on you smart phone (1 picture) was told no way to back up video even by cable to USB flash drive/another hidden DVR /computer. yup back up- but its manual when you want to back up you do-does not automatically do a back up system would work great for a work place when just trying to monitor people and your watching the video as it happens -or restricted area where you see it then go there not good for hidden cameras when motion is sensed the DVR beeps/loud still have not figured out the sensitivity scale or motion watch areas I do not have separate monitor so had to read instruction on internet unplug monitor plug in DVR and back and forth I'm 67 and not tech savvy took 2 weeks to get it set up and running would I buy again ==probably not

I was surprised how easy setup was for this product, I had it up and running in about 40 minutes. The most time was spent mounting the cameras as they require access to a power source. The picture from the camera is nice and clear. The reception from the cameras is pretty good. I have had some issues with my camera mounted on my garage, as it appears the signal does not like traveling through the aluminum garage door. I had to relocate receiver to a closer room. Nice feature of email alerts and remote viewing. So far so good. I am looking to purchase more cameras to add to system.

Out of the Box I had a little bit of trouble, I had to return the system because it had two bad remote receivers. On the second go round it was so bad. I contacted technical support twice , and had great support from them. the system is still to new to me to give it my honest opinion. So far so good. I only wish they would have had better friendly user instructions. I would recommend this system to anyone wanting a wireless system. Im realy thing about taking it back and buying the system with sound.

I got this system for Christmas and just installed last week. I am very happy with it so far. Installation was simple, hard thing is to figure out where the cameras go, and I didn't have to pair them. As soon as I plugged in the dvr, the image came up without doing anything else. The picture is very clear day and night. The only issue I have is that my wi-fi connection slowed down tremendously. I have done some research and found that I need to change my router's settings to where the router's channel is not set to automatic. I will set my router's channel to either 1, 6, or 11, since they are not supposed to overlap and hopefully that will fix the wi-fi problem. At least I have a dual band router and my 5GHz still works fine.

After reading many reviews, and considering my comfort level from a technical standpoint ? I decided on the LH018501C4WF system. I knew in advance where I wanted to place my cameras, and hoped my layout would work. My first attempt to run the DVR off of my wireless repeater resulted in a very weak signal, so I moved it to the basement where it could connect directly to my router. This pushed the distance to my furthest camera, but even with one bar of signal ? it was enough to capture what I needed. I did find that with just four cameras, the interference causes my wifi and other 2.4GHz items to stop working. My solution is to unplug all but one camera when I return home, and reboot my AT&T Microcell tower. Overall we are pleased with this system, and plan on adding additional cameras as well as continue to fine tune our home network to minimize issues.

There have been a few times that the cameras have cut out on me when I wanted to view them and I had to wait until I got back home to reset them. I'm still unable to set it up to get the emails either. It may be that I just haven't figured out how to work the whole thing yet. Other than that it seems to be fine. I need another week or so to play with it and figure out how it all works.

Very easy to connect and worked instantly. The downloaded application is great. Points to improve. Installing the camera on the siding at 90 degree angle proved impossible as the antenna was in the way. Wireless reception weakened to nil and intermittent at a 40 feet distance. Had to reposition the receivers to get the lowest signal. I wish it had a higher definition picture

I did about a months worth of systems comparisons and finally went with the Lorex LH018501C4WF Vantage 8ch video security system. I read all the reviews and found them to be useful in my decision and also in my set up. I first unpacked all the equipment and set it up inside the house so I could pair the cameras to their individual receivers and make sure everything worked. It would be a pain to install everything and find out something did not function correctly. Worked perfectly out of the box. I numbered the cameras and installed the first camera at the easiest location so I could check signal strength and reception. Three of the cameras were installed on the front of my house, all within six feet of a power source. Each of these cameras are within 50 - 70 feet of their receivers and produce at least two bars in the onscreen display. The last camera was located near the driveway entrance and needed to have a remote power source installed which took the most time for the system installation. That camera is about 110 feet away from its receiver but because of the elevation and straight line of sight through a large glass window, it still produces two bars on the screen. Installation needs to be thoughtful, making sure there are no visible obstructions in the camera view. My driveway installation had a small pine tree close by and at night, the tree produced a vivid white reflection from the infrared lighting, blanking the rest of the image. The camera needed to be moved three times to get a good night time image. Also, mounting cameras too close to the roof line facia/soffit on a wall installation will produce too much IR feedback. Initial set up for testing took a couple of hours, most of which was becoming familiar with the CD instruction booklet. The quick set up cut sheets were adequate but I wanted to learn the system completely. It took about an hour to install each camera with four additional hours to run the remote power. Once installed I watched the night videos for blanking and it took a couple of days to get the system totally adjusted. So far the system is working as advertised. Router and internet set up was easy for me because I have a good computer/IT background. All the cameras sync nicely on my iPhone 4G. For those that are not as computer literate, the included CD with instruction booklet was very good and Lorex offers a ?router finder? app that works well. Things I didn?t like. There is a USB mouse included but wish there was a keyboard for input. It?s too bad the infrared lighting does not have an adjustment similar to the gamma adjustment on a computer screen. If any object gets too close, the visuals on the screen are wiped out by IR feedback. It would be nice to cut down on the IR lighting.

I received this system as a gift from my children for Christmas. One of my sons who works with computers set up the system in a couple of hours and so far I have installed 2 of the 4 cameras. So far I can monitor on the computer, a monitor and my tablet. As I don't have a smart phone yet, haven't been able to test that part of it. The picture is good and distance is outstanding. The night vision works very well and you can see with all the lights turned off. I would be able to give a better review after the system has run for a month with all 4 cameras but so far I'm impressed.

Love the idea of the system. Was a little difficult getting it all setup as instructions were not very complete. Had to go online, read manual, and just try to figure it out. Tech support was closed when I was trying to get it all setup. Am a little dismayed that I can't configure everything remotely, like the date, etc. From what I have been able to figure out, I need a monitor connected to the hard drive to configure the security system. This wasn't mentioned in the description so assumed it could all be done remotely. I had to order a montitor as my computer is not located near the modem and security system hard drive. Also have some problems with slow wifi now so am getting a dedicated jack for more bandwidth. I hope that takes care of it. If I am able to configure everything and get my wifi speed back up, I will be very happy with the system. Update: 4 stars I CAN remotely access the DVR. I thought the system went down but since I had it setup to auto reboot weekly, it did, and now all it good. I am very happy with the motion email alerts and the live and recorded remote viewing.

With trepidation I ordered and recently received this particular security camera setup. Let me explain the trepidation, I wanted a wireless system to operate externally on my house but after reading many negative reports about the loss of signal due to building materials it has to travel through, I was lets say hesitant to click the 'confirm order button'. Now, I was fully aware that I need to install regular electrical outlets close to the camera locations, I did read somewhere that the plugs convert the power from AC to DC current so hard wiring the electrical cord was not an option you need a standard electrical outlet, easy enough but hard wiring the cameras back to the DVR was also not an option that's why I opted for the wireless cameras. Upon receiving the order I immediately got an electrical extension cord plugged in the camera and checked to see if I got a clear signal to the DVR at the furthest point away (about 65 feet) through stucco, wood framing with insulation, tile roof and wood flooring and even though the signal strength was 1 out of 4 bars, the picture was good and clear. Trepidation now replaced with elation, I installed all four cameras. Set up of the DVR was simple enough. The cameras do transmit on 2.4 GHz and did interfere with my WiFi BUT I have a Dual Band Router (I bought this about 2 years ago for about $100) and set everything else to 5.0 GHz, easy fix and all works well. Easy to get the app for my phone and Ipad, just inputted the required info and all works well. The system works as advertised for that I give it 5 stars, now let's see how well it stands up to the test of time.

Bought the 4 camera wireless Lorex system. Set up was really straight forward. Range for wireless is decent - furthest camera is about 150ft away with no issues. The software is really easy because it uses the cloud rather than IP forwarding which can be a big hassle. Because it uses the cloud, you can download the lorex app and view live shots right from your phone. Picture quality is very good in the daytime, but pretty grainy at night. These cameras are static so they don't move or zoom. Wide viewing area though and you can adjust contrast, birghtness etc. Recording program is very easy. Watching playback takes a while as max fast forward rate is only 8X. The only reason I didn't give this 5 stars is because the software sometimes can't connect to the camera due to failed log ins. Simply closing and restarting the software solves this both on the phone app and the desktop. Overall the best product I've seen for the pricing and the cloud software is a big benefit.

Purchased system from Home Depot online. Listed as LH01854WF, but enclosed DVR was a Blackbox 2. System seem to be operating fine but my Wi-Fi bandwidth had slow down tremendously when the DVR is hooked to the LAN for both computer and iPhone access. Power cables for cameras are too short at only 6 feet. Need at least 12 feet or an extension cord be provided. Not all prime camera locations are directly above a wall electrical socket. The csec 9v power adapters for the cameras model CS6D090060FUF doesn't seem to exists on the internet. I tried to Google for specs so I can fine an extension. Sent a ticket to Lorex on this subject so far, no response.
